Well, you've read the notes, the notes were grand, and now it is time for you to post until the grand cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PERSPICACIOUS!
-
First post after BK.
-
Good night all!
-
That's funny about your shirt George.
-
DR TCB congratulations on your 26th anniversary. I think it is wonderful.
-
Have a nice time with Tracy today.
-
13 years George. It seems like yesterday.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
That's funny about your shirt George.
Yup...dopey me. ;)
-
13 years George. It seems like yesterday.
I can barely remember yesterday, so sure...it does seem like yesterday! ;D
-
From last night:
Well, I learned today that I did not get nominated for either Best Supporting Actor or Best Actor for YES VIRGINIA. My son, former DR Jed, did get a nomination. And the fifth best actor spot when to a girl (woman) who played a boy in THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.
That's too bad, Tom. :( Nice for Jed, though.

CDs have been ordered, and Contemporary Broadway Revisited has been added to the Cast Albums Database (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Contemporary-Broadway-Revisited-1985-Various-Artists/7008/).
-
And now, jan and Jane, I must get some sleep. I'd like to get to work a little earlier than usual. Let's see it I actually do it!
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congratulations, TCB, on 26 years.
-
What 850-page tome are you reading, Jane?
-
I’m almost halfway through Michelle Obama’s Becoming and enjoying it.
-
Good morning to all
-
I’m almost halfway through Michelle Obama’s Becoming and enjoying it.
I just started it. And so far I’m enjoying it
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, thanks for the lovely comment in today's notes. I had Ben's recording since it first came out on CD, but I never listened to it until 2014, not long before Toyland closed down. It is a good album!
-
I had an absolutely horrible night, but it was my own fault. Just before the 8:00 episode (No. 3) of Country Music came on, I took a Naproxine and Tizanidine, thinking I'd take the Tylenol with codeine after the episode ended. At 10:00 I could not remember what I had taken! I was so worried about opioid addiction I didn't take the Tylenol and ended up, wide awake and in a lot of pain around 2:00, at which time I decided to take an Advil PM. I slept really poorly, fed the cats at 6:30, and went back to bedf until 8:30.
-
And finally - ta da! - my doctor sent a prescription for tramadol to my pharmacy, so I will pick that up and see if it helps.
-
DR TCB, 26 years! How wonderful for you.
-
Medicine working vibes for DR ELMORE.
Congrats to DR TCB on his 26 years anniversary....I almost commented on your non-nomination but decided to let it go....
-
I ordered the NY Profiles Cd!
-
Good morning!
-
Congrats on 26 years, TCB!
-
Wednesday morning greetings!
I’m almost halfway through Michelle Obama’s Becoming and enjoying it.
My book group read it this past spring. I liked it a lot, especially her descriptions of growing up as a city girl (as did I).
-
DR TCB, 26 years! How wonderful for you.
It certainly is!!!
-
DR Elmore, I'm glad 1) you're being careful with all those meds and 2) you're enjoying the country music series as much as we are. I commented to Richard last night that I'm glad we visited Nashville and toured Ryman Auditorium before watching it.
-
Ugh.....they have taken off two of my regular morning programs....Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Maury and added two "life coach" harpie shows......Tamron Hall and Mel Somebody Or Other......
So now I just watch a sci fi movie on Comet TV.
-
I also had to switch back to the annoying local FOX 59 news show because the CBS This Morning show was SO BAD.
-
So, I have a day at home until about 4:30 when we'll go over to the library where my career began for this fall's first national parks lecture by Dr. Gerke, the geology professor. We've really enjoyed her presentations and I have a little gift for her to show our appreciation. From there, Richard will go to church in Dayton and I'll go to a genealogy society meeting at the retirement community where my mother lived. I'll have to catch tonight's country music episode on the 10pm rebroadcast when I get home.

I kept wishing my hillbilly dad were here to watch it with me. He used to sing fragments of so many songs they're playing on the soundtrack.

I love CBS This Morning. what was so bad?

Today would have been John McGlinn's 66th birthday. This year is the tenth anniversary of his death. Because he was such an important person in my life and career, I think of him, not always fondly - as you know - but often.
I particularly miss the early years, before his demons took over, when working with him was fun, and I still remember fondly the Book-of-the-Month Club "Songs of New York," the three Kern musicals at Carnegie Recital Hall, the "Babes In Arms" and "Primrose/Pardon My English" at the Library of Congress, and the madness involved in recording the epic "Show Boat."
If you can, take a moment and play your favorite track he recorded. Mine remains "Barney O'Flynn" from "Babes In Toyland."

I am not going in to City Center until Monday, but I have two numbers to work on here. Joshie has commitments today, tomorrow I have physical therapy, and his parents are coming into town on Friday.
-
13 years George. It seems like yesterday.
I can barely remember yesterday, so sure...it does seem like yesterday! ;D
;D
-
Congrats to former DR Jed.
-
TCB I wish you had also been nominated.
-
What 850-page tome are you reading, Jane?
Deep River by Karl Marlantes. It begins in Finland amd moves to Washington near the Columbian River.
-
And finally - ta da! - my doctor sent a prescription for tramadol to my pharmacy, so I will pick that up and see if it helps.
Fingers crossed.
-
Good morning, all.
-
So many favorite tracks of John McGlinn.
-
ASK BK
Have you considered combining the songs from Love Life from the Kurt Weil and Alan Jay Lerner Revisited albums and releasing it as a separated cast album?
-
DR TCB congratulations on your 26th anniversary. I think it is wonderful.
Congrats from us in Midtown Manhattan, too!
-
Larry, were John McGlinn's demons from within or were they caused by things others did?
-
Larry, were John McGlinn's demons from within or were they caused by things others did
All of the above. There was much family dysfunction - his older sister was a total bitch and caused a lot of damage - and John never related well socially to others. I'm not sure what contributed to his dishonesty and petty criminality, but he compensated for his personal insecurities by maintaining a superior attitude. I always said if he sued his shrink for malpractice, we'd all be witnesses for his winning the case.

I did my own home version of those songs, plus a few from other shows. Ben’s work on Love Life is very good.

It's taking all my will power and restraint to not put Stella into a carrier and cart her back to the Animal Care Center on East 110th Street. I went to the pharmacy and picked up the prescription for Tramadol. When I got home, I took the paper bag with the prescription from my pocket, tossed it onto the bed, and logged onto the computer. About 30 minutes ago, I decided to lie down on a heating pad, and I noticed all these scraps of paper. I fund the bag torn to shreds, but I cannot find the bottle of pills! I've looked all over the area and I have no idea where she's tossed it. I am very angry with her but more angry with myself. I should know better by now.

ARGH......it gotta be someplace DR ELMORE....but where?
I just don't find the guests on CBS This Morning compelling or interesting and they all seem to follow a pattern....and Gayle King is certainly NOT a favorite of mine either.....I hate being lectured and talked down to every single morning of my life....so Goodbye...to CBS.....This.....Morning.....every morning. I could just about take it when I was waiting for Millionaire to come on....but for Tamron Hall....no thanks.
-
ARGH......it gotta be someplace DR ELMORE....but where?
I'm probably looking too hard for it. It will turn up when and where I least expect, I think. Maybe tomorrow.
It's just so irritating.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep, helper has come and gone and has all the Indiegogo stuff and list and she hopes to get everything that CAN go out out by Friday - Henry King is coming on Monday. So, good news.

Try using a flashlight while you look. They could have rolled anywhere. Do you have a safety cap on the bottle? I never have them. My fear is that the bottle cap came off. Vibes you find them soon for both you and the cats.

I have the MP3s of Songs of New York on one of my flash drives here at work. I've been listening to it. :)

That would be cool!

I was using a flashlight. If the bottle cap came off, there would be spilled pills to follow.
Safety cap? How the hell do I know. I hadn't opened the bag yet.

Jrand - Remembering the good old days of the Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell doing stuff like make Charlie Rose "uncomfortable" by serenading him
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHud52dZrPo

I'm going to settle in with Ken Burns for part 4. Thatch is eager to hop in bed with me and Annabelle may abandon her Amazon carton to cuddle with me later. It's hard for her to pass up a carton.
-
And Rita Moreno offering and then giving Charlie Rose a lap dance on his 75th birthday, noting at some point that he's "too cooperative."

I haven't. If it's complete, then you run into rights issues.

Had a cobb salad for lunch, and picked up one package. Now home - finished another tune at the piano and will watch some movie or other.

My pharmacy knows to give me easy open tops. It is in my records as I can't open the safety caps. I am guessing then that it was a secure, child proof top.
If the cap had come off only one pill might have rolled out & been eaten. It sounds like the cats are safe.

FINDING THE PILL VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!
-
DR elmore I hope you sleep tonight & feel better for your birthday tomorrow.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I spent the day at the hairdresser and doing grocery shopping.
-
Tomorrow Brian, my cleaning guy, is supposed to come by. I have plenty for him to do.
-
Watching a Jean Gabin melodrama, Remorques, from WWII about a tugboat captain whose work places him often at danger. It's fairly well made for something from the time of the Occupation.
-
The Big Tree next door is no more. Yesterday and today the tree trimmers were there, chopping it down. I never liked that tree and it was much too close to the building. Their building looks much better now.
-
The white SUV that got smashed was towed away the other day, but apparently was still drivable--sans one rear window. Where do you think the owner parked? IN THE SAME SPACE! I couldn't believe it. If it had been me, I'd have avoided that space like the plague.
-
Hi, John.
-
Larry, I hope the new medication helps, the therapy proves beneficial, and this ordeal is soon over.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
-
According to the notes, the film was started in 1939. By the time it was finished, the Nazis had invaded France, and the film's two stars, Gain and Michele Morgan, had escaped to Hollywood.
-
Hi, John.
Hi. Jeanne. Sorry I missed you.
-
Page three? Really?
-
It's a long way to page four, folks.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Perhaps my favorite John McGlinn: his recording of Some Girl Is on Your Mind from Sweet Adeline.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8S_1_MPRo4
-
Yes, Brent Barrett is on the recording.
-
I'm losing fuel.
-
Underpants!
-
Spoo!
-
And let's get off this page.
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
Good night, all.
-
Page four? Really?
-
I'm taking a hot shower.
-

It is not complete there are still songs that were not recorded by Bagley

That is interesting.
-
We watched LONG SHOT tonight. It was a feel good movie.
-
Nice shower.
-
Then a telephonic conversation.
-
Now relaxing.
-
Good evening.
-
Post #101
-
Page 4?
-
Really?
-
Thank you all, for the AA birthday wishes.
-
I started to mention it the other day, but I guess i forgot.
-
Or forgot to remember.
-
But I, at least, remembered to forget.
-
Tracy did not come over today.
-
I basically asked her not to come.
-
I would have been a horrible host.
-
I can’t believe how depressed I am about not getting a nomination for YES VIRGINIA.
-
I have been in a horrible mood the whole day.
-
I am not bothered by the two nominations for the leads in THE PRODUCERS.
-
I would have been shocked if they weren’t nominated.
-
In fact, I expect that one of the guys will win.
-
And I have no problem with former DR Jed being nominated.
-
Jed is a fine actor.
-
I didn’t see him in INSPECTING CAROL.
-
But I heard from several people that he was great.
-
Page 5
-
I think what bothers me most is the other two nominees.
-
One is a girl who played “The Boy” in THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.
-
Seriously?
-
And the other nomination went to some 12 year old boy who played the title role in THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.
-
I don’t know if he is really 12, but that is how old he looks.
-
I know the whole thing is ridiculous. I can’t believe I am so vain!
-
It is hardly a Tony nomination we are talking about here.
-
I don’t know what is wrong with me.
-
Well, hopefully I will get over this whole thing soon.
-
The sooner the better.
-
Oh hell. I am rambling.
-
Sorry folks!
-
Well, this site is cheaper than a shrink.
-
I should delete all of these stupid posts, but we need the count.
-
Good night, and good morning.
-
Well, hopefully I will get over this whole thing soon.
~~~Getting-Over-the-Whole-Thing Vibes for Tom!!~~~
-
I'm watching the results finale of America's Got Talent.
-
I recorded it but started it watching it late.
-
I have just gotten to the point where the first act has been eliminated.
-
I'm glad for the first two acts that have made it to the top five.
-
There were ten acts total tonight, and they'll cut it down to five, then the winner.
-
I really like all ten acts, so it's kinda sad when anyone is cut, but eventually there will only be one.
-
I haven't looked online to see who won.
-
I'm watching the whole show, unlike previous performing episodes where I only wached the performances and fast-forwarded through all of the judges' comments.
