Well, you've read the notes, the notes lasted a second and were for show, and now it is time for you to post until the second show cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EDULCORATE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
At physical therapy, I will ask Gurjeet to check my left leg because it's been driving mer crazy with the pain since Tuesday. He's got my right hip in great shape at the moment, so I'm hoping he can repair wha5tever I've done to my left.
-
Good morning to all
-
Tod
The Daniel Craig James Bond movies
-
I'm very tired. The Tizanidine and the Tylenol PM help me sleep, but I cannot get a strong paomn medication out of my doctor, and she will not continue prescribing the Tramadol. I sleep well for a while, but moving with these cramps in my left leg keeps me awake half the night.
-
I'm, all dressed up and ready to go, but I've at least 20 minutes before I can leave.
-
Annabelle's wheezing and sneezing continue, but her nose was clear this morning and she ate with the other cats. I do not think it's a cold because I would think that Stella or Thatch would catch it as well.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Glad to hear last night went splendidly, but the attendance thing is mindboggling.
-
Tonight I'm going to see a regional production of The Drowsy Chaperone that two friends are involved in.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Last night was a mix of wonderful and strange.
-
I love The Drowsy Chaperone and have played The Man In The Chair - I love that part, too!!! You can play to the audience and throw in a gag or two if you are on your toes....
One night when the bed didn't go up into the wall and I had to push and push, I said: "Should have gone to Shuee's." Which was the name of our show sponsor and local furniture and bedding emporium which got a VERY BIG laugh....
And of course if an audience member commented out loud on something I would always say: "I know...right?"
And of course there was the night a little girl in the audience didn't want the show to end and yelled "No!" - when I said it was nearly over.....I pointed to my watch and said: "It's past my bed time, kid!"
-
Gladys Knight was excellent. We were told she would perform 70 to 90 minutes. She actually performed for 1:45 and was center stage for all of it. She did most of her hits, had sing-alongs to "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" and "Midnight Train to Georgia," and even paid tribute to Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye. She didn't do any of "Try to Remember" before her "Way We Were," but that was a beautiful performance of the song. My favorite was a soulful version of "Someone to Watch Over Me" as a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, who apparently took her under her wing early in Knight's career.
-
I loved reading about the pies yesterday. I also forgot to mention Banana Cream Pie.....
-
I hope DR JANE doesn't have to listen to fire alarms again today.
-
I started using the Cascade Dishwashing Pods this week - and I am surprised how much better they are than the regular Cascade liquid.
-
The skies opened sometime during the concert and flash floods were happening everywhere around town in no time. Temperatures dropped 30 degrees or so. I was soaked to the bone by the time I got to my car. I couldn't get the water in my hair to stop dripping. I even used a towel I had in the car. But the worst of it was the fact that the interstate I use to get home was closed for some reason, and it took about 1:20 to get home. Thankfully, I have Stephen King's latest, The Institute, on CD, so I had some cherce listening.
-
I'm off to the doctor now.
I loved reading about the pies yesterday. I also forgot to mention Banana Cream Pie.....
And I forgot any pie with blueberries in it: Blueberry, blueberry-cherry, blueberry-rhubarb, blueberry-peach ...
-
Jane, Rules of Civility, as its very title suggests (at least to me), has a strong streak of dry humor in it.
-
Off to the doctor's for a kidney followup.
-
The traffic wasn’t bad this morning, so I made it to the doctor’s office 25 minutes early. It’s now 15 minutes after the appointment time. I’m still waiting.
-

Good news about your hip. Good luck he can help your leg.

Annabelle's wheezing and sneezing continue, but her nose was clear this morning and she ate with the other cats. I do not think it's a cold because I would think that Stella or Thatch would catch it as well.
Eating is great news. Wheezing makes me wonder if she has asthma.
-

Ditto.

Nope thank goodness. The worst part was being stuck at home waiting when the sun was shining outside.

Thank you 😊

Off to the doctor's for a kidney followup.
Vibes all is good!

Groan.

Good morning from what must be the most secure school in the country. I am speaking to the children today about pollinators.
-
I had to pass through several security guards in the parking lot, show my ID, leave my ID in the office when I got a visitor pass.
-
And I agree with every bit of it.
-
I'm surprised there were no metal detectors. If it was a high school, there probably would be.
-
Good morning!

I hope you and the children enjoyed your time together.

I just got in from therapy. I do love Gurjeet; he is the best. I explained my current predicament, and he examined my left thigh, which he says has been compensating for the weakness in my right leg. So, I had my usual therapy, along with ultrasound on my left leg and a painful, very painful massage to work out the muscular kinks. It's helped quite a lot, and I'll how things work out over the weekend. I go back on Monday.
-
That over compensating creates new problems :( Vibes you notice a difference over the weekend.
-
DR George, watch for something in your mail tomorrow.
-
The first group went well. Lots of questions from the kids. Another group in a few minutes.
-
Great 😊
-
Keith is in the Comcast store trading out our modem.
-
This morning he found a great deal and signed up for their tv. The price is good for 2 years.
-
The new modem is to handle the higher internet speed.
-
This group was very wiggly.
-
I have been asked to stay and speak to the third graders.
-
Wiggly. Love it.
-
So I found a McDonald's for lunch -- the only thing around. I haven't eaten at a McDonald's in years. It is underwhelming.
-
My appointment with the doctor was at 9:10. He did not come to see me until 10:55. Then he had nothing to say because Aetna denied his asking for a CT scan (only one a year and i had that in April). I’m glad I could listen to some of a book on my phone. Otherwise, morning wasted.
-

I like the coffee and the fries.
-
They must only stay in business because kids refuse to eat anywhere else.
-
I probably could have bought a cafeteria lunch, but, uh, no.
-
Testing my wifi is back on.
-
Keith just switched out the new medem.

I would be rather angry & highly annoyed. Did he apologize at all?

That might have been worse.

DR George, watch for something in your mail tomorrow.
Thanks so much, Jane!
-
Keith is in the Comcast store trading out our modem.
I need to get a new remote. One of mine is wonky. It still works, but I have to press down hard on the buttons to get them to work. My other one is fine, so I'll use that one as my main remote.
-
Now that Keith has the computer & wifi connected he is working on the tv.
-
DR George, watch for something in your mail tomorrow.
Thanks so much, Jane!
London turned out to be easy as we walked past key chains while walking around Covent Gardens, at least I think that is where we were. It was the only place I noticed the entire time we were in London.
The second one was at a store in York & Keith said we must get you this.
-
DR Jennifer I did not see one book mark :o

Yes. But since the CT scan was canceled, his staff should have canceled this session. Big system error.
-
It’s really cold and windy here. And I am ushering an outdoor event tonight.
-
Friday afternoon greetings! I had a brief, but informative, meeting with my predecessor in the big job I now have for DAR. Then I stopped at Emilie's to pick up some items she's donating to the AAUW Holiday Bazaar and added them to the carload I already have. Tomorrow is delivery day and, of course, rain is predicted.
-
Welcome to Comcast DR JANE! Expect surprises.
-
Good news from DR ELMORE.
-
What stories from DR JOHN G - everything but the bloodhounds....
-
It's been a very lazy day. I got back from therapy, lay down, and watched the cats frolic. Then Stella and Thatch joined me on the bed to watch our soaps.
-
DR JohnG, I like McDonalds fries too, and about once every six month I get a craving for a quarter pounder with cheese. When I was working at Toyland, I loved having an egg & sausage Mcmuffin for breakfast since there was a McDonalds around the corner. I once ordered the egg & sausage with biscuit and it was disgusting.
-
When I moved into this apartment in 1980, there were a Burger King and a McDonalds on the corner of 82nd and Broadway. My bank is now where the Burger King was, and the McDonalds is long gone as well.
-
DR JRand69, how are those real estate sale charms coming along?
-
DR Elmore, Richard received quite a shock today when he went to pick up his dry cleaning and found a notice on the door that Gough-Lamb is going out of business. The owner had a stroke and, apparently, is not expected to survive.
-

Absolutely. I hope you didn't have to pay anything for the visit.

Welcome to Comcast DR JANE! Expect surprises.
We had Comcast before. Keith can't get it to work with the tv and has scheduled an appointment with them for tomorrow.
-
We had only dropped Comcast for the tv. We still had our phone and internet with them. I like that they send an email for voicemail.
-

That is very sad.

It has been years and years since I have had anything from McDonald's or Burger King.

Yes, it is, DR Jane. It was one of the oldest continuing businesses in Middletown and this is, truly, the end of an era.

My family used them for the dry cleaning, but I don't think I ever knew anyone who worked there, much less owned it.

Doubly sad.

Back to reading THE WHISPER MAN. I am tempted to read the ending to find out what happens. I only do that with books I am not sure are worth continuing to read. This one is excellent.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to hear that the second show was such a success, performance-wise. Bruce, you can use some of those numbers elsewhere, can't you?
-
Larry, I'm glad the PT is helping you. Gurjeet definitely sounds like he knows what he's doing.
-

Do you take any magnesium? It's estimated that 75-80% of Americans don't get enough of it. (Blood tests aren't a reliable indicator, since it's not stored in the blood.) 100-200 mg before bed might help you. It's very calming. There's a homeopathic form, also: magnesia phos. (I'd recommend a 30C potency.) I use it when I have bad muscle spasms and have taken all the painkillers I can safely take. I also keep a low-dose form (cell salts) next to my bed. If I wake during the night it's easy to just pop one in my mouth. No water required, no need to turn on the light. It dissolves quickly and has a slight, pleasant taste. No conflict with your drugs, either.
Hope you find somthing that works for you.

Vibes that Laura's car is now happy and continues to give good service for many more years.
-
Hello
-
I am going to go check out the new washer
-
Ah, the excitement never ends at Chez Vix

I see waaayyyy too much of this. Everyone is so indifferent. Sorry your morning was wasted.
-
Speaking of pies, I've had some vegetable pot pies and vegetable pastry that were very tasty. I don't come across them very often. I do wish they were more common.
-
I will be having a therapy session tomorrow with Katy. It will most likely be uncomfortable, but needs to be done.
-
I'll let Vixmom take over. Between wash loads, that is.
TTFN.
-
Larry, thanks for the information about the Miss Fisher movies. The last time I'd checked on it no release date was given. Also no details, including the cast. I'm glad to see that Nathan Page and Bert and Cec are still there. I'll miss Mr Butler, though.
-
TOD:
I'm watching DOWNTON ABBEY, the second time through. It holds up very well. I'm looking forward to the movie. Amazon lists the movie as a bestseller, even though it hasn't released yet.
-
TTFN 2.

Oh, no. That's so sad.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave and head downtown to volunteer for a concert with two guitar trios. I'm sure that it'll be very good. I don't know how much I'll miss...hopefully, not too much. I'm working barback with one of the actual bartenders who serves mixed drinks, so that's different than what I usually do in concessions. But that can be fun itself. ;)
Until later!

We take 250 mg in the morning & another (different source) 100 mg in the early evening.
-
Ah, the excitement never ends at Chez Vix
A new washer is exciting.
-
Getting one with a glass top (if weighs less & is less painful on my shoulder) was extra fun.
-
Speaking of pies, I've had some vegetable pot pies and vegetable pastry that were very tasty. I don't come across them very often. I do wish they were more common.
Bryan cooked the best veggetable, even better than my favorite chicken, pot pies I ever had. I got the recipe but didn't feel like putting in the work required to make them.

Darn, I hadn't noticed he won't be in the movie. I will also miss him.
-
I worked out in the cold tonight. And my hands are still cold.
-
It was a fun evening though. A mariachi band and a mambo troupe performed before a showing of Coco. I left halfway through the movie, because I could and because I was just too cold.
-
TOD:
Starting to watch Spike Lee's He Got Game. I really enjoyed this when it came out.
I've got a dozen or so movies in at the library to keep me busy for the rest of the time.
-
I had forgotten Spike Lee uses Aaron Copland's music as a background for scenes of basketball. It's a great marriage of music and image.
-
Just saw a recipe for wild mushroom toast. Sounds wonderful.
-
I'm thinking it's time to call it a night.
-
There's still another half hour left in the movie, which is as good as I remember it.
-
But I'm fading.
-
But first ...
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
This is completely screwy. I only got four hours of sleep due to the idiot neighbors and their loud youngsters - I am going to have to come on strong, I guess. But I was sure I came right here to post and yet I don't see it. I thought I posted when I got back from the mail place and lunch. Is someone trying to gaslight me?
-
Just before I left to go see the play, my computer said Time Machine had reconfigured itself and would be starting a big back-up and getting rid of the older ones. When I left it was still "preparing" and it's still doing whatever. It said it could take hours. And when I got home from the play after getting some snacks at Gelson's, it was clear that the computer had shut down and restarted. And then a pop-up saying there'd been a problem and that it had shut down and restarted.
-
Wacky.
-
The play was really terrible - an adaptation of Night of the Living Dead. No pace, and what works on film doesn't work on stage. Eighty minutes seemed much longer. And the biggest problem is that everything they've done to the lobby in terms of decor would lead you to believe you're going to see a send-up or something funny. And the pre-show announcement solidifies that. And then you get the movie, which is completely humorless.
-
Now I'm listening to more music - Jackie Gleason, music for lovers - so where the HELL is my lover?
-
And who is trying to gaslight me by removing my posts?
-
Or maybe I dreamed I posted in my Maidenform bra?
-

I have had that happen before and try to make sure I really tapped on post.

Hi, Tom. I'm home. The two groups individually and together were wonderful!
-
I didn't get to see every moment, but I got to see most of it.
-
Today I had lunch with my friend, Diane. We met at the Black Bear Diner. I enjoyed my meal, and the conversation.
-
I am glad you enjoyed it.
-
Thanks, Tom.
-
Their CDs were sold in the lobby and I bought Live: MG3-California Guitar Trio (https://www.amazon.com/Live-Mg3-California-Guitar-Mg3-Montreal/dp/B00512XOL4/).
-
They also have a new combined CD that's nominated for a Grammy.
-
The live CD that I bought is from 2011.
-
They all came out to the lobby and signed CDs.
-
That was cool.
-
I should of had the pot roast dinner, but I got caught up on having breakfast.

I would've made the same choice...I'm not a fan of pot roast.

Here's the other side:

PAGE SIX DANCE!!

Their newest and Grammy nomimated CD is called In a Landscape (https://www.amazon.com/Landscape-California-Guitar-Trio-Montreal/dp/B07X7CQW7X/).

Good night to Nicky. And good night to you too, Tom.
