Well, you've read the notes, the notes were late and written at night and were musical and inspired, and now it is time for you to post until the inspired cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SOBRIQUET!
-
First post after BK.
-
I found my When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. I'm going to bring it to work and listen to it there.
-
Good morning, all!
-
SR Ginny, I had never heard the word Chicagoland before! I wish them great success with the work and selling the house. I wish our damned property would sell.
-
My first priority this morning, after the usual dish and litter cleanup, is to put away a lot of DVDs. The cats in theuir frolics toss them everywhere.
-
Then I've got to make some headway on this choral arrangement. It will be an exciting day at 202 West 82.
-
DR Laura, Stella at nine months is as large as my 2-year-olds. I think she's going to be huge.
She was so small six months ago!
-
Good morning to all. I hope everyone has a great week
-
T.O.D.
I don't waste my time with Japanese monster movies. Never have.
Instead, last night we watched MARATHON MAN, and it holds up very well.
-
Here's the trailer for my newest one-woman play, MISS AUDREY HEPBURN, available in paperback and KIndle editions via Amazon. Enjoy!

I stopped down to our new super's apartment to tell him I'm getting no heat, and his wife told me he was still in bed and started work at 9:00!
Our previous super and Val before him were already working by 7:30!
-
This is most unseemly, and while I think he's been doing a fine job of keeping the building clean, it seems to me that a lot of tenants who might need to speak to him in the morning are already gone by 9:00.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The conference starts in 15.
-
I'm sorry I don't post before 9 a.m.
-
HA!
Continued rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
So many folks were so busy yesterday! Not me.
-
I hope I can stay awake. And I hope I can keep the introvert otherwise engaged for a while.
-
Since I wanted to use all of the chicken I had in an opened bag - it turned out that I made CHICKEN CHICKEN!! and noodles.
I like having chicken in every bite.
-
Earlier in the summer, my niece found a kitten a few weeks old hanging around her garage. After a few days she brought it inside the garage and began feeding it and made a blanket bed for her.
Kitty always avoided her....but always ate and used the litter box...
Last month, Kitty came to live with my sister who has a Manx cat named Puddin'. Kitty lived in her cage for awhile....has been to the vet a couple of times.
And now she is a member of the household. She and Puddin' eat each other's food chase each other around and lie together in the window.
Kitty's name is now Pixie Lou. I have one picture of them playing a game that my sister sent me on my phone.....so I shall try to post it here today....Pixie is a brindle/calico.
-
I have wasted a LOT of time watching Kaiju movies. My favorites include:
Gojira - Japanese & American versions
Rodan
Mothra
War of the Gargantuas
and Mechogodzilla movies from the 70's.
There are a couple of the newer ones from Japan that I like.....but I don't remember the titles. One set in London with lots of weird monsters is terrific.
I do NOT like the two latest - well the THREE latest American GODZILLA movies......

Did I miss something while I was away? Are you dating someone who's introverted???

SR Ginny, I had never heard the word Chicagoland before! I wish them great success with the work and selling the house. I wish our damned property would sell.
In July 1985, when I moved from Redondo Beach to Chicago where I was to live and work for the next year and half, I thought Chicagoland was the silliest thing I'd ever heard. I think it took but a couple of months of seeing and hearing it used by the locals and on the news every night and whatnot, before I found myself not only embracing it but loving how it deliberately encompassed the suburbs and surrounding towns. It actually had, you know, "meaning".
And that probably sounds just as silly as the name had sounded to me, but -- perhaps like Chicago hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches and deep dish pizza and other things unique to the area -- you had to be there.
-

I think with the economy getting better (at least based on the main indicators), and it becoming less an employers' market, everybody's work ethic has adjusted. I see it everywhere. It felt like "what the boss tells me, I'll do, it would be so hard to find new work" was the ethic while the economy was in the toilet - but people are relieved now that if they leave here, new work WILL be found.
-
This is likely a return to normal - The super's wife (or the super) is setting rules that before 9 am is only for emergencies that can't wait until after 9.
-
Good morning!
-
One more...

Page 2!

John G - Oh, looking back. I guess you were saying there's an introvert side of yourself which you have to keep isn check at these events.

Larry, did you meet Lear DeBessonet on any of her previous projects? Seriously, I find what they're trying with 'Thoroughly Modern Millie" so interesting given especially where Jeanine's career has gone, "Millie" is going to go on be performed a lot.
If I'm reading the idea right - making Millie herself Asian-American sounds like it may solve a lot, having a good representation of the ethnicity whose negative char cares have been raised by some as an issue.

DR FJL how is everything in the Red Light District?
-
Fun news from DR GINNY last night......speaking of Chicagoland.
-
Yes, here's to success and happiness for those crazy kids in CHICAGOLAND!
-
SR Ginny, I had never heard the word Chicagoland before!
Nor had I.

Continued proberty selling vibes for DR elmore.

I have a working radiator. The super was actually very good about it. I saw him at 9:00, and he said he would check the boiler. He just came up to tell I should be okay, and yes, the radiator is on.
-
George as scotch ages it becomes smoother and richer in flavor. Between 12 & 18 years there is a slight difference, enough that I am aware of it. There is also a jump in the price. The real question is if it is worth the jump. Keith, who does not drink it, says it is not ;D
-
Annabelle will be very happy now.

Living there you used the expression. I can't recall Bryan or Kate saying Chicagoland.

Awwwww!♥️
-
Pixie has a beautiful coat and that ball tower is Stella's favorite toy.
-
Two years ago today I went to an adoption event at the 92nd Street Petco, looking for a little brother for Annabelle. I wanted a cat with white in his coat because I had stepped or tripped over Annabelle in the dark on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and there he was, this little 3-month old creamsicle of a kitten. I was smitten; Cupid's arrow never pierced a heart with such alacrity.
Four days later, Thatch moved in, and after several rocky months he decided he liked it here. You are my sunshine, Thatch!
-
Monday morning greetings! Richard and I have been to the Holiday Bazaar site and to Kroger and now I'm regrouping at home before picking up Katie for our Current Events Club meeting this afternoon.
-
Thank you, all, for the kind comments about Rob and Mary Linda's move to Chicagoland. It would actually be incorrect to say they're moving to Chicago, because their jobs will be in Glendale Heights and they're focusing their home search in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, and Elmhurst - all west of O'Hare and not even in Cook County. The only advice I've given them is to live somewhere that will be convenient to taking the train into the city.
-
I lived in Schaumburg and was familiar with all those places. It’s a wonderful region, and yes to being near a train.
My job was in West Chicago so I had a 30-minute-long but nice clear “reverse” commute by car.
-
Good morning.
-
Elmore, which show was it that your friend was going to be touring in?
I hope it wasn't Anastasia, which just left town.

I hope Puddin and Pixie will be happy together.

Fiddler on the Roof. My friend John Bell will be conducting the tour of My Fair Lady. It just began rehearsals.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
I found my When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. I'm going to bring it to work and listen to it there.
I'm listening to it right now. It's still good. It's also hard to believe that Harry Connick, Jr., was only 21 when he recorded this!
-
I stopped down to our new super's apartment to tell him I'm getting no heat, and his wife told me he was still in bed and started work at 9:00!
Our previous super and Val before him were already working by 7:30!
Yikes! I always thought that a super was essentially on call...whenever something is needed, no matter when. :-\

I thought so, too. He's got a little boy who must be out of bed by 7:00 or so for school, so I'm surprised he isn't up then as well. He was very friendly about the radiator, but I was very welcoming when began working here, so mayybe I'm on his good side.

Page 3 Dance!

Back to WRECK THE HALLS rehearsals. I was off last week due to my “procedure”. Now I find out my director is down with a leg issue and a wee touch of bronchitis. So it’s all me and the cast tonight.

Excellent advice and hopefully also an easy train ride to the airport.

Maybe he just isn't a morning person and is more productive if he sleep in a bit.

Then he's in the wrong business. I bet most tenants in this building leave for work between 7:30 and 8:30, and it's hard to stop by and see the super about something if he's not available.
-
Happy Thatch Anniversary.
-
Jrand, I'm pretty sure it means if you see a winsome young gal with a man who seems to be managing he work schedule, they're not a musical theater performer and her agent even if she' quoting lines from "Hey Big Spender."
-
There were lots of families there, but once I was alerted, I started to notice people checking in with very little luggage (though maybe some baggage).

Very true.

I have never lived in a building with a super, just a manager who took the rent & called for someone to do repairs. The nicest manager was actually the owner of the building.
-
There were lots of families there, but once I was alerted, I started to notice people checking in with very little luggage (though maybe some baggage).
Interesting.
-
Had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch, picked up a couple of packages, and then came home.
-
Been relaxing and listening to music played by the marvelous Hollywood String Quartet.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
We had a lovely near the end of autumn day.
-
Congrats to Mary Linda and Rob. I'm sorry, though, to see them leave that charming house they purchased. I hope they find equally suitable housing in Chicagoland.
-
DR Ginny, Keith reminded me Chicago has a high property tax. I hope it is better where Rob & Mary Linda are looking to live. Will they rent at first?
-
I just had a strange experience. Things haven't been going well all day, but thankfully they've been minor, rather than major, problems.
I have an auto-ship order with Amazon. Among the items is a case of bottled water. Granted, it's heavy. Sometimes the delivery person brings it up to my door, other times he leaves it at the base of the stairs. Today I received an email from Amazon saying that delivery had been "attempted." Attempted? I was here, and they usually leave it anyway. Delivery was in the hands of USPS, not Amazon. Uh-oh.
I heard the mail carrier this afternoon and asked her if she knew anything about my package. She said she couldn't deliver it because it was too heavy and that I needed to take this slip she just put in my mailbox and go to the PO and pick it up. I explained that I can't do that. She said, "Don't you have a male who can do it?" (I find that quite funny, actually.) I said I'd call Amazon. She didn't see any point in that.
I spoke to Amazon. The rep understood my point: Amazon is supposed to deliver my order. He then called the USPS, where a very polite, but VERY slow man took my information (repeatedly) for 33 minutes. I am told the package will be delivered tomorrow. We'll see.

I hadn't realized that Amazon still gives some packages to the USPS for delivery; I thought everything came via Amazon truck. I'm wondering if the mail carrier just didn't want to be bothered. I wouldn't blame her, but delivery means DELIVERY, not pick-up.

Thanks for the info, Jane. I don't think that I'll be partaking of the scotch anytime soon. ;)

You never know with Amazon - one day it's USPS, the next it's UPS, then Amazon delivery.

Shortly I shall be on my way to the theater.

DK Pixie is a very pretty girl.

For anyone who watches DEATH IN PARADISE season 8 is now available on Britbox. I wasn't expecting another season, given how badly the Caribbean was battered a couple years ago. I think they shoot on Guadeloupe.

John G - Oh, looking back. I guess you were saying there's an introvert side of yourself which you have to keep isn check at these events.
That side gets more stubborn and assertive every day.
-
I see that the introverted John G has survived another day of Chicagoland weather.

Awwwww!♥️
Wonderful.

TTFN.

What a lousy story, Jeanne.
-
I survived the lectures. There was some good information, but much of it couched in cliches. I hope tomorrow is better.
-
The lunch they served was lousy, but the free happy hour was good. Lamb chops, beef tenderloin, lobster gazpacho and more. I had a few beers.
-
Then I walked to Chinatown where I had a progressive dinner going from one restaurant to the next. Excellent food at all three places.
-
Walking back to the hotel while eating ice cream on a cold evening was sort of fun.
-
Gratuitous post No. 109!

I’m going to turn in with my Zola novel, which is as relevant today as when it was written. It’s called either The Paradise or The Ladies’ Paradise, and it’s about a Walmart-type ladies shop going up against the local, family-owned stores.

We'll see.
Even if you had a male to help you it doesn't mean said male could lift the box for you ;D
Good luck receiving the package. I hope it is delivered to your door.
-
I hadn't realized that Amazon still gives some packages to the USPS for delivery; I thought everything came via Amazon truck. I'm wondering if the mail carrier just didn't want to be bothered. I wouldn't blame her, but delivery means DELIVERY, not pick-up.
Since we have a great mailman I don't mind USPS deliveries. I also have never had a package too heavy for me to pick up delivered. The mailman as also left larger packages at our door or hand delivered them if we were home.

George as scotch ages it becomes smoother and richer in flavor. Between 12 & 18 years there is a slight difference, enough that I am aware of it. There is also a jump in the price. The real question is if it is worth the jump. Keith, who does not drink it, says it is not ;D
Thanks for the info, Jane. I don't think that I'll be partaking of the scotch anytime soon. ;)
At least for the price they usually give a generous serving in the States. We forgot how restrictive Europe/Canada can be when we were in England. Everything was exactly measured including wine.
-
I did drink less that way :)
-
I liked that I could get small vs large glasses of wine.

-
I first had Glenlivet years ago in England or Scotland at Keith's suggestion. It is funny he suggested it since he doesn't like scotch.
-
I took one sip and was hooked.

Well, where's the fun in that??
;)

I've never specifically tried Scotch, but I have had other spirits and in general I just don't care for them. :P

We gave up on it after Ben Miller left the show. I read there are changes again this season.

Off to home.
Until later.
-
Beautiful kitty pictures today
-
Lunch today was fresh made pumpkin ravioli with some pumpkin bisque soup as a sauce
-
Congratulations to Rob and Mary Linda
-
I was flipping through the channels prior to going to bed and ran across when Harry Met Sally
-
I ended up watching the whole thing
-
Somehow I missed the great page 6 dance earlier.
-
Do they make rom coms like this anymore? Clever dialogue, without bathroom humor or disgusting incidents?
-
Maybe because it is on page 5 ;)
-
When Harry Met Sally
Sleepless in Seattle
You’ve Got Mail
Serendipity
I could watch those over and over
-
Maybe because it is on page 5 ;)
:D
-
Vixdad is off tomorrow because it’s Election Day
-
Which is sort of annoying since he can’t actually vote
-
I can
-
And will
-
And then go to work
-
Election Day means the robocalls from various people asking me to vote for them will finally stop
-
I usually just hang up
-
I accidentally hung up on a live person the other day because I thought they were a robo call
-
Although I do purposely hang up on live people all the time
-
The ones that try to sell me things
-
Or solicit for fake charities
-
We’re always getting calls asking for donations for the PBA or SBA
-
I know perfectly well that neither the police or the sheriff solicit donations
-
Well I must go to bed
-
Good night
-
Back from a fun rehearsal and got all but one page of act three done.
-

I came across it last night and watched it all, too. :)

Nope.
