Well, you've read the notes, the notes were on vacation, and now it is time for you to post until the vacationing cows come home.

This morning I feel as though I'm in a poorly synchronized movie musical.  The words are there but a beat behind where they should be.  I slept rather well, but I did not want to get out of bed this morning.  I lay there for a good fifteen minutes after the alarm rang, while two anxious kitties jumped over and on me.  Thatch sat in the window rattling the blinds to let me know he was unhappy.

I cannot remember if I told Joshie I would come in to City Center - we are back to Mack & Mabel - but I would rather stay home.  Tomorrow I plan to get a haircut first thing, then meet up with Joshie.

We have a dyslexic postal sorter in the 10024 station.  Last night I brought up a package with a big "3C" written in magic marker.  It was a priority mail package, and I kept wondering, what is this? A gift?  The package contained a box of Christmas cards, which I had not ordered.  I checked the label: 230 West 82nd Street, and not my address. Damn!

Now I have to deal with getting this to the proper owner and apologize for opening her mail.

We are home bound today, being in the thick of the Wintry Mix. It looks like we got less than an inch of the white stuff, but it’s sleeting now and they’re calling for freezing rain for most of the day. Most of the public schools in Connecticut are closed.

What’s more, we’re going to be in a deep freeze for a good long while now.

Ugh.  It’s Winter, folks.

T.O.D.

The only 2019 film I've seen thus far is ONCE UPON A TIME IN...HOLLYWOOD.

It had some good scenes (e.g. the visit to the Spawn ranch), but it was too long and, I think the ending was disrespectful to the dead.

Our CBS channel 2 has a holiday commercial from the station, sung to the tune of "12 Days of Christmas," and it's about dogs: "five fuzzy paws," etc.  It's awful: bad rhymes, poor scansion.  Surely their ad agency has access to a competent lyricist?

Then there's this country jingle for a Tide Pure something commercial that is even more putrid in its embarrassing prodigality of lyrics that refuse to scan the tune.  So, maybe ad agencies are the new bastion of illiterate copy writers.

Thank you for the belated birthday wishes, DR TCB.

And no apologies, please. Vibes for Nicky, and take care of yourself while you’re at it. I had my flu shot a week ago, and fortunately no reaction. But I’ve never had anything but a mildly sore arm from them. Knocking wood. Well, actually, knocking the fabric of my recliner.

TOD:

I liked both Leonardo and Brad in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.....

I didn't see anything else I liked - DOWNTON ABBEY was okay....

I was afraid of what MR BK said in the notes....and when I read about MARRIAGE STORY or whatever it is - I immediately thought of KRAMER VS KRAMER which I did NOT like at all....  And of course Adam Driver is the new Adrien Brody - sort of.....hard to look at.....

I kept thinking in BLACKKKLANSMAN - why did they keep having the original guy talk to the bad guys on the phone once they met the other guy in person?  Wouldn't the bad guys be expecting the OTHER guy's voice on the phone since they had talked to him in person?

I am filled with corned beef hash (just the canned variety), two eggs over easy, two slices of toast, and some kind of frozen hash brown patties (something like the McDonald’s type) that are pretty good cooked in a skillet.

Yes, Richard and I will become grandparents around June 11.  We have known for a couple of months, but, of course, waited until they were ready to spread the news.

Congrats all around, Ginny! :D

That's great, John!

DR Elmore, you're making me nervous about mailing the item to you that I'm getting ready this morning...

I don't send any package without tracking info!

It's on its way via first class post, due for delivery Friday, and I have a tracking number.

I'm up, I'm up - maybe four or five hours of sleep - again, trouble falling asleep and then kept waking up.  Once up, I had a long telephonic conversation - an interview for a book about Shemp Howard.  Then I had to immediately prepare everything for the CD announcement tonight.  Then I picked up one package and had some matzo ball soup and a few fries for lunch.  Now I'm back, listening to music, and wishing I did NOT have these stupid callbacks tonight and now apparently tomorrow night, which means I miss the event and party.  I really did not sign on for all this crap after the 15th - we should have had these auditions in November.

Both Tacoma and Puyallup are located in Pierce County.  Yesterday it was announced that the woman that is the head of the Pierce County Housing Authority is believed to have embezzled Seven Million Dollars, over the past four years, into her personal accounts.  She must have misunderstood the part where it says that the Housing Authority money is suppose to be used to house the poor and homeless.

It's been a hectic day here. This morning I definitely felt I was coming down with something, modified my plans for the day, and took Sambucol and Echinacea. I felt better quickly, but found that the heater wasn't working. Sigh. I called the manager, who said a repairman could come out this afternoon. I rushed to take care of some grocery shopping. The repairman thought the thermostat just needed new batteries. I had one on hand that was the right size and my neighbor offered another, giving us the requisite two. I HOPE that takes care of it. It's been quite cold at night. The last time the thermostat needed to be replaced it was a battle with the management here.

The malfunctioning heater made me think about options for heating. Small, sometimes desk-sized heaters are available now and seem pretty popular. I'm thinking about buying one for the dinette area, which I use as a mini home office. It's freezing in there on cold days.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I am not a fan of chicken sandwiches. There's always too much of a feeling of carbs, and Popeyes's was no different. I ordered the spicy, of course. But the first few bites seemed to be of nothing but the bun and mayo.

Then I got to the meat of the sandwich (and the heat) and things got a little better. I also got a bite or two of pickle in there, which was fine.

But in the end, meh. Much ado about nothing. I will never go out of my way to have it again.

I hope  the authorities are planning on providing her with housing for the next 10 years or so.  And recovering the $ and using it for the intended purpose

The strangest part is that she used a lot of the money to buy up property in Oklahoma!  Do you think she is planning on a sanity defense?

The malfunctioning heater made me think about options for heating. Small, sometimes desk-sized heaters are available now and seem pretty popular. I'm thinking about buying one for the dinette area, which I use as a mini home office. It's freezing in there on cold days.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Don’t use a charcoal barbecue.
