~~~Opening Night Break Legs Vibes for BK and His Cast!!~~~
Ditto! Ditto!! Ditto!!!
-
Another restless night, although once I finally fell asleep sometime after midnight, I slept rather well until 4:00, then it was a long wait for the alarm to go off.
-
I had a dream about my Irish recording production group, a foggy night, and a car wreck. I do not remember now if we were in the wreck or came upon it.
-
DR JRand69, the latest news on this revival of West Side Story? I hear there are two gay couples. That's so 1950s.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great story about meeting Billy Goldenberg. I think Ballroom is one of my favorite scores and a desert island disk for sure.
Bruce may your show be as perfect as it was last night.
Yesterday I forgot to say what I do for depression or dark moods. I used to run & dance. Now I walk. I make lists in my head of the positive things in my life. I also remind myself that this will pass and to just wait it out.
-
Good advice DR JANE.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Opening night vibes for BK & Co.!
-
We had a quick, efficient, and invaluable brush-up last night and are back at it tonight. Fasten your seat belts, this and the following two weekends include a Sunday matinee.
-
Don’t deprive the audience of your talent, go do what you do so well!
Amen.
-
I often turn to music, and I Wish You a Waltz from Ballroom is one song that often helps. Or just about anything by Cole Porter. A novel by P.G. Wodehouse is also a big help. He can make me laugh like few others with just a twist of a sentence or the merry mangling of the language.
-
Good advice DR JANE.
Thanks.
Music and reading also take me out of my thoughts. Unfortunately I don't listen to music much anymore, and now that I don't have a CD player on my computer even less. I listen to it while using the weights at the gym and then turn it off when I get on the treadmill & begin to read. If I walk alone I listen to music. Walking & music is a great combination, no wonder so many people do it.
Elmore, someone on castrecl mentioned the novel, Gowns by Roberta, recently. So, I ordered it on an inter library loan. The first few paragraphs are hysterically funny in a bad sort of way. I think I am going to love this. Have you read any more books by Alice Duer Milker? The Beauty and the Bolshevist sounds wonderfully campy.
-
“When a man is six feet two, handsome as a god, captain of his college football team, and universal choice for All-American halfback, he cannot burst into tears because a girl is cruel.”
What an opening line.
-
Well he can......but that's a different book.
-
I can't imagine a computer without a disk tray DR JANE. But I am not surprised.....
I am going to look at computers next time I am at WalMart and see if that is the latest thing.
I guess you could put your music on a flash drive.....I guess.
-
DR TCB I think going to callbacks would be entertaining.....you still don't have to do the part if you don't want to.
-
I've read the novel twice. I bought a copy while we were preparing for the recording and then when I was writing the recording notes. I've never read any of her other novels.
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep. I was up at eleven and have been answering e-mails and I think I'll go get a proper lunch today.
The regular computers had them but not the all in one. The all in one has a nice sound board on it where the standard computer I was looking at needed better speakers on my desk.
No flash drive for me. My desk faces the door to my office which is one of the reasons I prefer the all in one computer. The back looks nicer than the monitors and has fewer visible cords.
AND opening night vibes for DR GEORGE & Co.
Thanks, Jrand!
All of the computers here at work no longer have disc drives. I actually need one for my work, so they got me a USB player, and it's been fine, except now it seems that it doesn't play DVD-/+R discs. I need to check potentially defective items that come in from branches, and some (rarely, though) are DVD-/+R discs. I need to be able to see what's wrong, so this will eventually need to be dealt with.
Thanks, Jrand!
And more good vibes from me.
Thanks, Jane!
Today at work, I'm supposed to get a new Windows 10 computer. I (and most people) still have a Windows 7 Professional, but at least one of the major databases that a lot of us go to no longer support Windows 7. We'll see how it all works out!
Thanks, Jane!
From me, too, DR George!
I like Windows 10 - but it has a LOT of updates.....my favorite of all times....and I started with Windows 98.....has been Vista.
DE ELMORE every day when I switch from Judge Judy to Adam-12 I get the hear Jerome Moross' terrific Wagon Train theme.....it has always been one of my favorites and I hope his estate is getting a nickel or two every time it's played.
Back from a roast beef sandwich, a CVS stop, and picking up a package.
Our granddaughter isn't even here and we have something to thank her for. After we found out her due date we cancelled a March cruise to someplace in Asia. She has saved us from the hassle of dealing with a cruise that was cancelled on us.
I guess the Reign of Terror has now begun from the Fat Orange Slug in the White House.
Hello, everyone.
Hi, Jeanne!
Air-cast comfort vibes to DR Ginny!
You can make a fashion statement and be prepared to define yourself all at once!
Little Women has passed the $100 million mark at the box office.
Temps in the twenties today, so I am wearing a cardigan in the house.
I'd be wearing longjohns, a turtleneck, socks, and a wool or fleece pullover.
I bought my MacBook in 2014, I think, but it was manufactured in 2012. It was the last of the internal disc drives. Someone suggested a later model and adding an external drive, but I like the internal drive. I don't pay attention to the non-Apple products, but I imagine the trend is the same.
That makes my head spin! BOOT-EDGE-EDGE never worked for me, but BOOT-a-judge makes sense.
No, not a good time to see Asia.
Hi, John G.
I was engrossed in posting and didn't see you.
-
I went to therapy today, then stopped for a veggie burger.
-
Druxy, I was touched by the elder dogs' home. I'll send them a little something.
-
If I have any news I cannot think what it is.
Except that I need more sleep! But that's not news.
-
TTFN.
I like Windows 10 - but it has a LOT of updates.....my favorite of all times....and I started with Windows 98.....has been Vista.
I remember getting a 386 Pentium, then getting a Windows 3 computer, then a Windows 95. I still have my Windows XP computer because I have programs on it that still work, but I can't upgrade them to my new-ish Windows 10 computer.
-
I'm now posting from my new Windows 10 computer at work. I have a lot of fixing to do. :P
-
LOL That would be me.
Sorry.
Thanks, Jane. I knew that there would be a lot of fixing things with this new computer. It's not too difficult, but I just need to take the time and I don't have it right now. I need to get to the theater!
-
At least it wasn't a surprise and you will find the time to fix it.
Still don't want to see it. ::)
I had to keep explaining what was happening to Keith. I felt like you really needed to know the story to understand all that was happening the way the movie jumped around.
-
Thank goodness my hour of hiccuping is over.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
We had terrible wind gusts earlier today we lost power at home and the office a couple of times today
-
We also seem to have lost some roof shingles
-
Well, I can say I've seen Stomp. It was enjoyable, but I was expecting more dancing.
-
We also seem to have lost some roof shingles
No holes in the roof, I hope.
-
I headed home and really wanted food, so I stopped for a veggie omelet.
-
It was good, but not enough. So I had a slice of chocolate cream pie. (I only ate a few bites and brought the rest home.)
-
It's been that kind of day.
-
And now I'm off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
We also seem to have lost some roof shingles
I hope it will be an easy, inexpensive fix.
-
And we're done!
-
Everything pretty much went really well!
-
I didn't miss any sound OR light cues!
-
WHEW!!
-
And now, a bunch of us are going out to a new Mexican restaurant downtown to celebrate, so I'll be back later...much later. ;D
-
But before I go...
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
Little Women has passed the $100 million mark at the box office.
Still don't want to see it. ::)
I’ve done the play twice (or was it three times), and I know I will not be watching the movie.
-
Thank goodness my hour of hiccuping is over.
I once had hiccups for 28 hours.
-
It is so strange, I watched the debate and now I feel like I went out to some event, and just got home.
-
Nick stayed under the bed for the debate. Perhaps I should have joined him.
-
I must remember that the things I post are not diary entries, but are often read by other people.
-
I am just going through my usual I’m not good enough angst that I do before every callback.
-
I will go in the morning, I will do my thing, and whatever will happen will happen.
-
Thanks for all your concerns.
-
To be totally honest (Dear Diary), I get so hyped up over auditions and callbacks, because over the last 60+ Years that I have been doing this, I have only gone to auditions or callbacks perhaps 25% of the time.
-
Usually, I have just been called and asked to do a role.
-
Naturally, that only happened when the director had worked with me before, or knew my work.
-
But a lot of theaters are not allowing casting of actors who don’t audition.
-
Or at least, come to callbacks.
-
Oh well, the world is changing.
-
Good night, nobody!
-
A dearth of postings. A dearth, do you hear me?
