Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tonally tonal, and now it is time for you to post until the tonally tonal cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FANFARONADE!
-
First post after BK.
-
Nice poster, BK.
-
I always wish that some of the Kritzerland events could be recorded.
-
Time for some sleep now.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
This situation of searching each morning for the day's notes because of some glitch in the programming - or whateveer the hell's causing it - is getting old, so i am going to stop reading them.
-
I've been up since 5:00 so I can eat something and take my meds before 6:00. At 7 I will leave for the CAT-scan. I have to be there two hours earlier for the dye, whatever needs to be done. I hope I am home by noon.
-
The cats are puzzled. I've been up for 45 minutes and I haven't fed them. Annabelle's acting out; she's tossed some things onto the floor for my attention. I'll feed them in 30 minutes.
-
DR vixmom, you have the most amazing days! How's your wrist?
-
The cats are fed and I've cleaned the littler. I will not wash their bowls until I return.
-
I hope this entire scan brouhaha goes off with no hitches.
-
Scan vibes and excellent result vibes for Elmore
-
Cold be gone vibes for BK
-
Wrist is still pretty painful...vixdad wants me to go to the doctor but I know it’s just soft tissue damage, there’s nothing they can do.
oddly it’s not even bruised although it feels bruised ( if you know what I mean)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Health vibes of all kinds for Vixmom, BK and all of us.
-
Off to the grind.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes for DRs Elmore, Vixmom, and the entire HHW world.
-
I was wiped out last night from lack of enough sleep the night before, and also needed relief from a runny-nose/teary-eye allergy day, so I slumbered on a soft bed of Benadryl which felt simply wonderful.
-
Good morning!
-
Vibes for DRs Elmore, Vixmom, and the entire HHW world.
From me too!
-
Don't they hold the FANFARONADE at the Beverly Garland Hotel?
-
I enjoyed reading DR VIXMOM's cliffhanger yesterday....it was most excellent. I can only hope and imagine that she was wearing baggy nylons while it was all going down......especially at the Appliance Desk....
-
Nice photo in the notes.....some show!
Scan vibes for DR ELMORE.
Continued health vibes for EVERYBODY!
-
I watched The Chocolate Soldier last night.....I had always avoided it because Rise Stevens is so....uh.....plain.....but after seeing NAUGHTY MARIETTA and liking Nelson Eddy being so funny....I thought I would watch.
Well Rise is still plain no matter how many other characters call her beautiful, attractive, and gorgeous.
I didn't realize the operetta is based on THE GUARDSMAN...which is hilarious....well Mr. Eddy did not disappoint...he is MOST amusing and very handsome.....so perhaps I shall watch some more of his films....
-
Wrist vibes for DR Vixmom!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And sorry for your frustrating day yesterday. That would have made me so mad. Each of those things would have had me fuming. :(

And Arms and the Man. Shaw hated The Chocolate Soldier.

Two!

From DR TCB
When the plastic ban goes statewide next year, the paper bags will cost you 8 cents.
:o I didn't know that.
I had better start saving plastic bags for when I need them. I rarely get any since I usually take bags into the store with me, something I have been doing for 35 years or more.
-
From Vixmom:
Oh the twins dad also gave me a credit for the $35 visit today
As he should have, if you told him what happened. Either way, it was nice of him.
-
CAT-scan vibes for DR elmore!
-
I am home. The procedure after 2 hours of prep began at 10:00 and was over by 10:10. Swallowing two bottles of vanilla flavored barium is not my idea of a good time.

I love the film of THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER! I think it's Nelson's best film.

And Arms and the Man. Shaw hated The Chocolate Soldier.
The operetta Die Tapfere Soldat was indeed based on Arms and the Man, and Shaw never got over the fact he permitted the musicalization on the grounds that it was "an unauthorized parody of Shaw" and signed no royalty agreement. When MGM decided to film it, Shaw wanted so much money that they decided to use the Straus score with a play they already owned the rights to and had already filmed with Lunt and Fontanne.
-
Interesting......
I love the songs in the operetta within the operetta....they are such wonderful parodies of songs and the lyrics are hilarious!

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Do composers & lyricists still receive payment for films that were made decades ago when these films are shown on television?
And - do you want the name of another LA pianist for your files?
-
I guess it’s in honor of Love Life, but I am in a Here I’ll Stay mood today. Listened to Bryn Terfel and John McGlinn’s recordings.
-
I love "My Name Is Samuel Cooper!"
Have you heard the bootlegs of University of Michigan or Opera North performances?

Off to the grind.
I really like that cast recording (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Grind-1985-Original-Broadway-Cast/1062/).
;)

~~~Super Ditto!!~~~
Oh, no...Zoe Caldwell obituary (https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2020/feb/19/zoe-caldwell-obituary). :(
She died after suffering from Parkinson's disease. My dad's youngest sister has Parkinson's. :'(
Yuck. Did you know you would have to do that?
I’ve always thought so ;)
Will this week ever end?
No. I had no idea what the 2-hour prep entailed.
-
I am a zombie today, but the cats have been frolicking like a group of happy peasants in Song of Norway or another operetta.
I hope they’re not channeling Olga San Juan.
Ja’Net DuBois, who wrote one of the best TV theme songs of all, Movin’ on Up for The Jeffersons, has died. She also starred in Good Times.
I would have been very annoyed. Someone should have told you.
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep - was up at five, then back to bed at seven. Up at noon-thirty.
-
I've sent our web guys all the complaints - they're still trying to suss it out. I've never had the problem, and no one else but elmore seems to have had it lately?
-
Last night we watched a movie that Keith said was perfect for a hearing impaired person, "The Quiet Place". He was right, plus we enjoyed the movie & the acting very much.
The sequel will be released in March. We watched a trailer & it was not as quiet as the original film ;D
On Monday I posted I had to refresh the page to read the notes. Now the problems comes and goes. Refreshing takes care of it where it doesn't seem to help DR elmore.
I read about that, too. :(
Ditto. Sometimes it seems that I need to refresh...or maybe I only sometimes notice it. :-\
I love Olga San Juan in Paint Your Wagon!
I don't know from My Name is Samuel.
A song from Alan Jay Lerner and Kurt Weill's Love Life.
-
Went to a wine tasting after work today. Excellent wines.
-
I also ran into some friends I hadn't seen in years. Doug and Lori own the best pizza places in town, if not the whole state. He recently had full heart bypass surgery. He's given up direct oversight of the restaurants and are focusing solely on the business, leaving the running of the place up to their staff. It's been a great move for him.
-
Back to The Gondoliers.
-
See your friends after these changes must have been extra special.
-
Kate just sent us a super sweet photo of 5 day old Freyja sleeping in Bryan's lap holding a little stuffed fox.
-
I want to hold that bundle of sweetness, still it is a joy looking at her from afar.
Sweet!
Well, I need to go to my parents' for a little while. My mom had me buy a chair pad for my dad's library desk and it arrived yesterday, so I need to bring it to them.
Be back later.
-
Someone has updated Gilbert's lyrics, so the list songs are all about people in Australia and they make no sense anymore. These celebrities have seen their 15 minutes pass. The audience is loving it.
-
Good night, all.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
The MISS FISHER movie airs March 23 on Acorn TV. Don't know it's theatrical release date.
-
I've been busy with tax prep and shopping for a new accountant. EVERYone has at lease one very bad review.
-
Wrist is still pretty painful...vixdad wants me to go to the doctor but I know it’s just soft tissue damage, there’s nothing they can do.
No, but you can put one of the arnica creams on it. My favorite is the Arnica Rub, but they're all good.
-
Wrist vibes for Vixmom, good test results for Elmore, leg healing for DR Ginny, cough begone vibes for Bruce, and general-purpose vibes for all of us.
-
Good night.
-
What is this page three malarky?
-
This is nauseating.
-
I'm out of carbonated liquid refreshment and must now go get some.
-
But first - what is this page three malarky?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
And what is this page three malarky?
-
Had a fun get-together with La Jason Graae.
Thanks for the tip.
I am falling asleep
-
'night
-
I'm falling asleep from the lack of posts.
-
Good evening.
-
Another cold night here in the Northwest.
-
Tonight Tacoma will get down to 25, so Puyallup will be closer to 22 degrees.
-
But we won’t complain.
-
Cold nights mean sunny days and beautiful blue skies.
-
Today it was 56 degrees.
-
Tomorrow and Friday should be the same, if not warmer.
-
100
-
Not bad for February in Seattle.
-
Today was the old actor’s lunch.
-
We went to Hank’s.
-
Which means pizza for lunch.
-
The pizza was good.
-
Unfortunately, their pizza isn’t so good the next day.
-
It isn’t horrible, it is just so-so.
-
Tomorrow is a nothing day.
-
Which I plan to celebrate to the extreme.
-
I forgot to turn my order in to Safeway today, so no delivery until Friday.
-
Oh well!
-
My fault.
-
I plan to lounge around all day.
-
CRANBERRIES!
-
Page 4.
-
Still?
-
Okay.
-
Time to end this.
-
One more.
-
Page 5
-
Sorry.
-
I’ve got a phone call I have to take.
-
Excuse me.
-
Good night.
-
I'm home.
-
I've been working on making a complete soundtrack to Bette Midler's Divine Madness for myself.
-
The 9fficially released soundtrack is only 44 minutes long, but the theatrical release of the movie is 1 hour and 33 minutes.
-
...plus another two and a half minutes for the song "My Mother's Eyes," which isn't in the movie, but it is on the soundtrack, so I want to add that to truly make it complete.
-
However, my WAV file editor is being a butt and won't let me edit the WAV files that I made from the video file. :P
-
I think I might need to go back to the video file and reconvert it to a WAV file in a different way.
-
That's not very convenient...but it might be necessary.
-
I'm getting tired after doing this for a couple of hours.
-
I won't be able to work on it again until this weekend at the earliest because the last weekend of Equivocation starts tomorrow.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Most unseemly.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
Just last week, I came across this post on Tumblr: "Wut-In-Tarnation is really What-In-The-Entire-Nation with a southern accent."
-
I never knew (or even thought about) that, but it makes perfect sense!
