Well, you've read the notes, the notes were neither afternoon nor morning notes, and now it is time for you to post until the afternoon and morning cows come home - the evening cows are seeing the tour of Les MOOz.
-
And the word of the day is: COLTISH!
-
First post after BK.

The thirty-one-year-old idiot who wrote Hunters is the WORST. It's his first produced show. And he thinks it's okay to set this story about Nazis in the US and hunters who find them as a drama/thriller, and then suddenly become Tarantino and make with the comedy bits that are rather like the idiot who directed the movie about Cheyney - Adam McKay. Well, guess what - I think they call it jumping the shark and it happened in the first five minutes of episode two. But you know this twit has not an original thought in his head so all he can do is imitate. And the music - oh, dear Lord. I'll be interested to see how much of this silliness I can take.

Good morning, all!

I dodged a bullet this morning. Yesterday I booked another vet appointment for Annabelle, whose nose was clogged and who spent the entire morning trying to sneeze or to expel whatever was clogging her head. She wouldn't eatas well. I booked the appointment while thinking, how am I going to pay for this?
This morning, she's perfectly fine, romping with Stella and Thatch, and she ate her breakfast. I will cancel the appointment.
-
I slept rather well, given my current parameters. I was up at least four times, one of them to stand and stretch my aching leg muscles. I also had no anxiety attacks, which makes me happy.

I had what you might call an "un"-Jerry Herman evening last night. I wanted to watch something I hadn't seen either at all, or in many years, and I chose the Warner Archive Blu-ray of Auntie Name which had been sitting in a watch pile probably since I got it.
It was glorious, and I was shocked to find that I must not have seen it since I was a kid or maybe just past college age. Certain things seemed familiar, but not "that" familiar, and the amazing thing is that I found myself expecting a song at all the obvious moments. But how beautifully it works as its own pre-Mame self. The look of the film is drop dead gorgeous, and there are some hilarious bits in it. I will NOT let decades go by before my next viewing of it.

Do you like gin?
Love it.
Great. After dinner we'll get out the cards and have a game!

Today I'm blowing off another Willy Wonka rehearsal in favor of enjoying the chance to get a few more things done at home. (These early orchestra rehearsals, which the kids desperately need, are strictly voluntary for me.)
But tonight I'm returning to the Bedford Playhouse for my first time in -- I hate to think it, but -- at least two months? Tonight's Tuesday classic is Psycho which I shall enjoy for my approximately one-millionth time. It'll be a nice evening. The guy who runs the classic series always has much to contribute, and it always includes wonderful tidbits I didn't know. He does his research. And as always, it will be rewarding to see Robert Harris if he's there.

Exactly, DR Jrand69. That entire scene is incredible.
The tossing of the drink? Classic. And it caught me so totally by surprise, that alone could have restored one's faith in movies.

Well I am late to the party.....very late..... Yesterday there was a movie on TCM titled THAT MAN FROM RIO. I guess I must have always gotten it confused with Our Man in Havana or whatever that's called.....which I couldn't get into.
ANYWAY.....I watched TMFR.....it is a glorious movie filmed on location in France and Brazil. Funny and exciting.....and even though I liked Jean Paul Belmondo a lot in BREATHLESS, here he is photographed in color and is very handsome.
His heroine is the lovely Francoise Dorleac.....
Some of the scenes were shot in the newly built Brasilia.....anyway...I loved it and I hope it's ON DEMAND so I can watch it again....
Highly recommended by the likes of me.
-
And of course Joanna Barnes as Gloria.....who was dropped from the Boston Social Register when she became an actress...
It was ghasly....it was just ghastly.....
-
It has been very foggy this morning.

Good day

Our appliances are dying one by one

First it was the washing machine

Then the dishwasher

Now the Keurig.

Turned it on last night and the smell of electrical burning filled the kitchen

So out it went
-
Well lunchtime is over, time to go back to work

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Acupuncture visit today. Fun.

Snow vibes for JRand.

Listening to Decline and Fall. It’s been a happy Cole Porter week. New Yorkers yesterday.
-
I am not normally accident prone but yesterday I was vacuuming. I was using the extension to vacuum the stairs. Just as i was going to reach up to hold the vaccum to make sure that it didn't fall it fell right on my shoulder and whacked me super hard. :(
OMG it hurt. The long handle hit me. I iced it. Took a hot shower. It's not great. But it's much better than I would have thought. It mostly just doesn't feel great to sleep.
-
Glad Annabelle is feeling better.
Hope DR Vixmom gets some coffee! What bad luck to have so many things break. :(

I love Kaye Ballard's Mabel Mercer impersonation.

DR VIXMOM that is ghastly - it's just ghastly.
Thanks DRs - I don't have to be out in the snow tomorrow....so I won't be.

That Man From Rio is indeed on TCM ON DEMAND.
-
I have stayed home all day waiting for a Fed Ex delivery. I am not amused.

Did it help or is it too soon to know?

Ouch.
Vibes it completely heals!

I hate that. We are very lucky here that, unless we have to sign for something, packages are left at our front door and are secure.
-
It is beautiful here this afternoon. I even left my coat at home while we walked.
I tried posting a photo but the file is too large. If anyone wants to grab it off of fb please do.
-
I attempted to resize it though it would help if I knew what I was doing ;D

Fox News in Memphis today interviewed a woman whose first name was Airwrecka.
You can’t make thus stuff up.

I’m scared to think of what her kids are named. Dystopianne?

Here's Jane's picture! ;D

Thanks George. You need to click on the photo to see how pretty Mt. Hood is today, and it looked larger & prettier in person. Keith made me get in the photo ;D
-
I had to google Airwrecka. Did she pronounce it Ericka?

I'm lucky that we can have packages sent to us here at work. Even if I'm not here, it'll be kept safe until I'm able to get it.
-
That is convenient.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks for the vibes. It is actually is a bit stiff today. And hurting a bit more than yesterday (although not more than when it happened). I think that it could have been much worse. I am able to function. My shoulder is just sore.
-
I'm trying out a new tax accountant. I met with him for the first time yesterday. He's a retired high school math teacher who's been doing taxes for a while now. He's good at explaining things and doesn't mind doing so. So different from the accountant I had who begrudged me any explanation! He's also close by and not overly busy. I'm pleased so far.
-
I am pleased you found a new tax accountant you prefer.
-
Vibes for DR Jennifer's shoulder.

Functioning is very important, glad you aren't too bad. Getting worse before it gets better sounds about right.
-

My previous guy was really horrible about returning phone calls and emails. Just really rude in many ways. He was on Ocean Ave and Wilshire in Santa Monica, on the 18th floor, with a fabulous view of the ocean. I couldn't help thinking that his high rent was being passed on to all his clients. Ugh! Good riddance!

I concur. It sounds like a normal progresssion.

Very nice picture, Jane.

Thank you Jeanne.

Appliance vibes to Vixmom.
Maybe if you buy enough from Lowe's they'll give you the Keurig free. (Do they sell Keurigs?)

Vibes to all.
TTFN.

Busy day.
-
Got a beautiful blurb.
-
Nice.
-
Now I'm watching the rest of episode two of Hunters- truly one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever seen and how Amazon could have green lit this crap is anyone's guess. Filled with anachronisms, puerile dialogue, and the obligatory vomit and lesbianism.
-

I do my own taxes. :)

Good night, all.

Gratuitous Post #92!
-
:-\
-
Did anyone watch the Democratic debate tonight?
-
I watched some of it while I was at work.
-
Good luck folks - I'm not changing the topic with only ninety-five posts, that is just nauseating and well, see you in the morning.
-
Yikes!
-
Stephen Colbert tonight was recorded live after the debate.
-
Former Gov. Chris Christie is the first guest.
-
#100!!
-
Finally!
-
I wonder where Tom is tonight.
-
I hope that both he and Nicky are doing okay.
-
I hope that everyone is doing okay!
-
At work, I ordered myself a new desk lamp.
-
I did have permission to do this.
-
I ordered THIS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NKRPZXN/) lamp that will clamp onto my desk.
-
It has three color modes: a warm light setting, warm–white light setting and a white light setting.
-
It also has 10 brightness dimming levels.
-
There were other lamps that had these features but I chose this one based on the price, the ratings, and the shape.
-
The only thing I'm really concerned about is the length of the flexible arm.
-
It looks like it'll be tall enough to light my area without getting in my way.
-
I'm interested in seeing what the three color choices really look like.
-
I hope that either the warm light setting or warm–white light setting replicates the look of an incandescent bulb.
-
I've gotten CFL and LED bulbs that are just too bright and don't have any warmth to their colors.
-
They're nothing like natural light.
-
Well...
-
...since...
-
...we're FINALLY so close, let's get to the...
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
Whew!
-
One of the reasons I didn't log on for so long tonight was that I just happened to turn on my TV and I saw that on PBS was an episode of AMERICAN MASTERS.
-
They featured a fascinating documentary on Miles Davis, the jazz trumpet player.
-
My dad loves Miles Davis, so I set my DVR to record it so that I could make DVD of it for him.
-
But instead of just setting up the DVR and leaving, I just stated to watch it and really got into it.
-
I think my dad will like it.
-
Well, we at least made it to page 5.
-
I just read BK's notes for tomorrow and that's a great cover for the book!
-
A Question for BK (because it's officially Wednesday): will this book have all of your lyrics?
-
I think I remember you saying that it won't, but (to me) the subtitle "A Lifetime of Lyrics" implies that all of the lyrics that you've written during your lifetime will be included.
-
That's just the first thought I had.
-
But Rupert Holmes really did give you a great blurb!
-
Hold onto your hats, gang, Hurricane jan is back in town. Utah was beautiful, sunny days but from low 50's to low 60's. Hit museums and art galleries. We even toured Brigham Young's winter house in St. George.
-
Hi, jan!
-
Welcome back! Sounds like you had a fun trip!
-
I did. I even got some loves from my friends' cats, Annie and Stinky Butt. They slept on my lap, purring all the time.
-
A Question for BK (because it's officially Wednesday): will this book have all of your lyrics?
Nope, not even close. Even on the shows, only a few have every lyric - if something was short or inconsequential or if I didn't feel it would read well, I didn't use it. And there are a huge number of songs that aren't included. Nothing from Outside the Box because I didn't want too much parody and I have a few What Ifs. I waffled on a few things, but in the end just went with what felt right and at 530-something pages, it's plenty :)
