Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in The Twilight Zone, and now it is time for you to post until the Twilight Zone cows come home.

George, i’m back for a quick moment.  I checked out two ebooks from Pierce County Library.  I have now finished them.  How do I return them?  I don’t want to wait for the whole 21 days, because there are people waiting for them.  My account at the library doesn’t even say I have anything checked out.  HELP!

It's easy.  Just go to My account, then Loans, then under the book title is a box marked Return.  Just click that, and it should return it for the next patron. :)

If it's a Kindle title, you could also go to Your Content and Devices on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/) and click on the box next to the title, and click Return this book.

Are you looking at https://piercecounty.overdrive.com/ (https://piercecounty.overdrive.com/), or Pierce County's regular public catalog?  I don't go to the regular catalog or even the Libby app whenever I'm dealing with OverDrive titles...but that's just me.

Title: Re: THE REAL TWILIGHT ZONE

Ah yes...I drove to her house fully expecting to find her entire exhaust system on the garage floor
Title: Re: THE REAL TWILIGHT ZONE
Post by: vixmom on March 03, 2020, 02:31:26 AM
It turns out that it was the metal that runs across the very bottom of the door...the part that meets the floor that had fallen off
Title: Re: THE REAL TWILIGHT ZONE
Post by: vixmom on March 03, 2020, 02:32:59 AM
The garage door also had a slight dent in it at the bottom as if someone had started backing out of the garage before the door was entirely open and hit the bottom panel with say the roof of the car
Title: Re: THE REAL TWILIGHT ZONE
Post by: vixmom on March 03, 2020, 02:34:07 AM
I was assured repeatedly that no such event had occurred and the mysterious dent must have been cause by a delivery person or such like
Title: Re: THE REAL TWILIGHT ZONE
Post by: vixmom on March 03, 2020, 02:46:37 AM
The fact that the dent was on the inside of the door is apparently irrelevant and just because someone hits a door from the outside there’s no reason why it wouldn’t spontaneously buckle out and it’s probably been that way for years and maybe daddy did it because he never did drive her car right and you know how he was...(this garage door was a replacement after my dad died ) and the loud crashing noise just before the metal piece fell down was probably the metal just working it’s way loose after so many years of that dent being there and don’t you have to get home and make breakfast for your husband who must be starving and can you bring the vacuum into the house because the box is too heavy I don’t know why these things are make so unwieldy and wasn’t it nice that the boy from the store carried it all the way out to the car and I gave him a dollar was that enough do you think only I had a dollar and a ten and I wasn’t going to give him a ten and maybe I shouldn’t have tipped at all because isn’t that his job and I don’t know if I insulted him or not and the door still works so stop worrying about that metal piece I just threw it behind the bushes there and we don’t need it anyway and just bring the box into the kitchen and help me get the vacuum out I don’t even know why I mentioned the metal thing anyway the door works that’s the main thing and stop worrying about it I didn’t hit the door

The garage door works fine and there are no dents on the car and I don’t know why I even mentioned it and it wasn’t really like a crashing sound and probably just seemed louder because these hearing aids just make everything echo and inside the garage it probably just seemed louder in an enclosed  space and I don’t Know why I even mentioned it and just forget about  it it doesn't matter

I also watched TZ from the beginning.  It was Friday night must view....I was 9 years old when it started.

My first one was the FIRST episode with Earl Holliman wondering "Where Is Everybody?" - it was creepy and had a great ending.....

I liked MOST of them.  The reason I didn't like some was that I didn't like the actors in them including Burgess Meredith, Agnes Moorehead, Ed Wynn [episode saved by the appearance of Susan Gordon], and a few others.

Ones I loved:

Walking Distance
The Lonely
Third From the Sun
I Shot An Arrow Into The Air
The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street
A Stop At Willoughby
The Thing About Machines
Eye of the Beholder [Donna Douglas told me that she is only in the final scene]
A Most Unusual Camera
Twenty Two
It's A Good Life
The Midnight Sun
Kick The Can
To Serve Man
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
Number 12 Looks Just Like You
Stopover In a Quiet Town
The Odyssey of Flight 33

I, too, watched and was hooked from the beginning. I distinctly remember seeing the first episode, “Where is Everybody?”, and my dad and I being particularly thrilled with it. In general, I stayed with it, but we as a family had a lot going on during that first year, including our move from Columbus to Fort Lauderdale, so we didn’t catch every episode. I was obsessed, nevertheless, and it became “my” regular thing in the second season. I lived for those Friday nights. It was actually my dad who noticed the second paperback (the red one, More Stories From...) and brought it home to me, and I nearly, um, SHUT THE GARAGE DOOR when I saw that. I was as obsessed with those books as with the show, and I soon caught up with the first volume and of course bought them all thereafter.

Loved them all, but my favorites — and the most disturbing to me — were those dealing specifically with hospitals or death or the prospect of nuclear war. Notably...

Eye of the Beholder
Twenty-Two (or Room 22)
A Stop at Willoughby

I actually screamed and covered my eyes at the reveal in “Beholder” on its first broadcast. I was sensitive to this stuff at that tender age, but I couldn’t get enough.

Yes, “Owl Creek” was an independent, and that episode gets the credit for being my introduction to the story.

LOL DR Jennifer your question surprised me.  Yes it is common for people to park inside the garage.  In fact when we were looking to move one priority for me was not to have a detached garage.  I have had a few houses with those, still we parked inside of the garage and not in the driveway.

LOL DR Jennifer your question surprised me.  Yes it is common for people to park inside the garage.  In fact when we were looking to move one priority for me was not to have a detached garage.  I have had a few houses with those, still we parked inside of the garage and not in the driveway.

It's weird because we have crazy winters. But 90%++++ of people park outside on their driveways.

Most people just store it with bikes and tools and stuff. I'm sure that there are some people that park in their garages. But pretty much everybody on my street parks outside on their driveways.  It could be because a lot of the driveways face down and get very icy. I park at the top closest to the street.

My Canadian relatives all live in Alberta they all have heated garages with outlets to plug their block heaters into.  They wouldn’t keep their cars in the driveways because it would be too much trouble cleaning off the cars everyday for like 6 months a year

Parts of California have implemented a new program to make it easier to vote. In addition to voting by mail, you have a 10-day period prior to the election to allow for early voting. You also can vote at any polling place in your county. That makes sense. It may be more convenient to vote near work than home. There are also drop boxes where you can leave your ballot. Overall, much easier.

Had a fun lunch, never got to the mail place, came home, watched the last two Twilight Zone episodes, and about to mosey on over to the theater to see the staged reading, which I am absolutely dreading.  Also, Doug sent me all the book stuff, and other than a couple of questions and two tiny fixes, I think I'll be able to send it in tomorrow.

There was an episode in the first revival where Robert Klein wakes up one morning and had to relearn how to speak the English language because words began to have different meanings. There was no rhyme or reason for this to happen to him. I thought to have it a real Twilight Zone story his character had to be a grammarian a-type where he was always correcting people on how they used words. Friends, family, and business associates. Then he wakes up and finds out that words have changed and he no longer understands what people are talking about. That for me is a Rod Serling type story.
