Well, you've read the notes, the notes were going where exactly, and now it is time for you to post until the going where cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BENEFACTOR!
-
Today, I need to do some shopping because tomorrow is Mother's Day! I need to get something. My niece gave me a couple of good suggestions, so I'll go out today and see what I can find.
-
But now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I fed the cats and went back to bed for 90 minutes. I didn't sleep well, and I had Stella leaping on and off the bed, but I did doze although I remember none of my dreams now.
-
Laundry still waits. I may do it today if I get enough energy, but at the moment all I want to do is lie about and doze.
-
T.O.D.
Patty Duke - THE MIRACLE WORKER
Martin Balsam - A THOUSAND CLOWNS
Back in the day, I directed stage productions of both plays.
-
Yesterday, I finished the first draft of my new (29th) play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection.
I wrote the whole thing in less than a week.
When you're a major fan of your subject, the writing goes easy.
-
Sorry, Elmore.
Was that considered a commercial?
;)

DR DRUXY earlier this week I saw your friend and client Mr. Steve Kanaly in a movie called Act of Vengeance aka The Rape Squad. He was good and he looked very good.....but his part was not much of anything.....
I watched it because it featured Lada Edmund, Jr. - a dancer from Hulaballoo. Turns out she became a stunt woman and spends a lot of time in this movie doing karate moves on bad men.....
-
I keep looking at my bank account and hoping my BENEFACTOR shows up sooner rather than later.
-
TOD:
Martin Balsam:
The Carpetbaggers
Harlow
Psycho
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Sixteen Millimeter Shrine (Twilight Zone)
Patty Duke:
The Miracle Worker
Billie
Valley of the Dolls
some episodes of The Patty Duke Show
Bigger Than the Sky
Me, Natalie
A Christmas Memory (1997)
George Washington - The Miniseries
You'll Like My Mother
Night Gallery "The Diary"
-
Way back when.....my sister wanted to write a fan letter to Patty Duke - so I found the address to write to her in a fan magazine (this was during her series)....
About eight weeks later, she received a letter and about a dozen photographs autographed by Patty....it seems.....I was kind of mad that I hadn't written a letter then.
Not sure what happened to the photos....probably went into the trash.
-
Yes DR VIXMOM when the words came on the screen at the beginning of BAD EDUCATION - it said that is was based on what happened in Lawn Guyland......and I wondered if it was near you.
-
I have returned my plants to their outdoor spots.....

That was before I knew him.
I met Steve after he did THE WIND AND THE LION.
Saw the movie; got in touch with him, and then he became my client.
We were together for many years...until I retired as a publicist.
We are still in regular touch with each other. Saw him last time I was in California.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I probably heard of that movie (ME, NATALIE) back in the day, but I know I've never seen it. Might have to rectify that sometime.
-
Cold and blustery here today. It's sunny now but it's only going to reach the mid-40s this afternoon. I doubt that I need to say that this is fairly unheard for the lusty month of May.
There was a think layer of frost or snow dusting early in the morning. That was gone pretty much as soon as the sun hit it. But some parts of upstate NY and New England got some real snow. End times, folks.
-
Good morning!
-
It was in the 30's here in Northern Virginia earlier. It's now 45 and supposed to get up to 52. Personally, I don't mind it. Temps in the 90's will be here soon enough.

I just loved this talk show, with Judi Dench and dev Patel on Graham Norton discussing hotels.
There are sometimes people finding the good side of anything, and towards the end, Graham Norton is reading actual online hotel reviews - at 6:25, a rose-colored glasses reviewer says "I could have done without the bloodstained mattress and the poop on the bedspread, but for the Upper west Side at this price, I certainly didn't expect the Hilton. And the staff replaced the bedspread as soon as I pointed t out to them."

Was there a discussion I missed? I'm glad to see the posts, because every once in a while, I'm moved enough to buy one.
Another example: If Stephen Cole didn't self-promote, I wouldn't have known about his "That Girl" book which has been a joy, and I found it fascinating the the same person did that book and worked for such a large part of his life on on creepy materiall like Night of the Hunter!
-
I just watched THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS for the first time.
I didn't really care for the movie, but Peter Lorre was terrific.

Saturday afternoon greetings! It's cold and blustery here in SW Ohio today, but at least the sun is shining.

Yes DR VIXMOM when the words came on the screen at the beginning of BAD EDUCATION - it said that is was based on what happened in Lawn Guyland......and I wondered if it was near you.
Yep, it’s one of the more affluent towns
-
I myself live in one of the more affordable towns
-
Well not by myself, obviously, there are about 30,000 other people who live in my 6.6 square mile hamlet
-
Mom is sleeping
-
I’ve been here since 8 pm yesterday
-
Hopefully my brother is getting some sleep
-
He was here 9 am to 8 pm yesterday , then he had to work from midnight until 8 am
-
It was another bad night
-
Although I did get some uninterrupted sleep in from about 6 am until 10:30 am so that’s something
-
I was going to try dozing while she was asleep now but the landscapers are out and about now, the neighbors who share the back fence and the ones right across the street are both being visited by loud machines
-
Moms got both of her hearing aids out so she is ok
-
also she’s on the couch in the den and I’m on the living room couch and th3 living room is surrounded by windows so very bright
-
Oh well

RE: a 2 year old kid not wearing a mask.
Kids that are 2 and under aren't supposed to wear masks. That is what i read. Not sure if it's because they won't be able to breathe or what ... but I'm sure that is why the mom had one and the child did not.
-
We just watched the Zoom memorial for our friend Sharon. I tried attaching a photo Keith took of Sharon and me a few years ago at a wedding. It was too large, sigh.
-
The service was nice, and certainly different. It must have been at the temple with the rabbi & cantor. There was another room with a photo of Sharon in front of an orchid. First one daughter & her husband spoke, then the other daughter & her husband. One sister out of town spoke from her home. Then Sharon's husband was last before the service continued.
There is a website we were able to go to and leave comments.
-
From DR TCB:
Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of war in Europe.
I didn't think of that. They didn't do anything special.
-
It was another bad night
Sorry.
Is there anything you can do for her or do you just keep her company?
-

I forgot about the recommendation for them not to wear a mask. I imagine many older than two have the same issues.
-
I mentioned we have been finding new places to walk to avoid people. Yesterday we came upon this beautiful view.
Sorry, another photo I can't post due to the size.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep, after arising at six (two hours at that point). I needed the eight hours.

I suspect the reasoning is that babies will suck on anything put near their mouths, not that they won’t be able to breath

Continued vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
Walmart [it wasn't Kroger] has replaced my niece's groceries with a free delivery and the DD driver no longer works for the service.....
-
DR DRUXY I just happened to watch The Beast with Five Fingers today....I agree with your assessment.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Today’s epic is Les enfants du paradix, which I hadn’t seen in ages. But the stars were familiar from many of the French movies I have been watching recently.
-
Watching the extras now.
-
Well not by myself, obviously, there are about 30,000 other people who live in my 6.6 square mile hamlet
Is that where the title "Hamlet" came from?
-

I love this movie. There was a wonderful French film about Lacenaire, the murderer in Les enfants du paradis, starring Daniel Auteuil. It's English title was The Elegant Criminal. I've never seen it on DVD.
-
I will look for it.
-
Someone's car alarm is going off in my neighborhood.....
-
And while I'm mentioning Daniel Auteuil. DR JohnG, did you know he's directed new films of Pagnol's Marseille Trilogy and playing Cesar? Marius and Fanny are on DVD, and the third (Cesar?) is in production.
-
Page 3 Dance!

I read that they will touch their faces more.

Walmart [it wasn't Kroger] has replaced my niece's groceries with a free delivery and the DD driver no longer works for the service.....
Excellent. I would think the driver no longer works for them-lol
-

Yes. I saw the first two and his version of TheWell digger’s Daughter. Good, not great
-
Whatever the reason I expect it isn't easy to keep a mask on a baby ;D

Was he presented as being gay? The documentary I’m now watching says the character was gay, which I can only pick out in the way the character treated his main henchman.
-
Watching a creaky comedy called Manna from Heaven with everyone from Shirley Jones and Frank Gorshin to Cloris Leachman and Seymour Cassel.
-
I just read that hundred of people were able to join in the zoom memorial service. It gave comfort to the family knowing friends, such as us, who would have been able to attend in person were able to share in the zoom service.
-
After it was over my dear friend who was very close to Sharon called me and shared some of her memories.

wow, that means my mom graduated 75 years ago. They had their class picnic on VE day
-
Today is my sister's first birthday in heaven
-
I ordered a big bouquet of flowers for mother's day and made sure it was delivered to my mom today. I wanted something nice to happen for her today
-
She took a long nap today and sounded pretty good when I talked to her tonight
-
DN Samantha has added ducks to her chickens. The turkeys come next week. I told her she's a fowl mother.

I suspect the reasoning is that babies will suck on anything put near their mouths, not that they won’t be able to breath
I would also imagine that they would spend the entire time grabbing at the mask. I don't think that you could explain to a 1 or 2 year old why they would need to keep the mask on. They would just rip it off.
-
Hugs, Cillaliz.
-
Page THREE? Really?
-

Yep

Do you give a damn or a damelet? (To paraphrase Cole Porter)

I ate lunch and must have forgotten I ate lunch because 2 hours later I ordered a big chicken chimichanga lunch from my fav Mexican food place. I couldn't figure out why it was so filling this time, well - duh anyway no dinner for me
-
Starting By Jeeves.
-
Let’s move on ...
-
Four!
-
Alan Ayckbourn could have used a good editor on this Jeeves libretto. It’s possibly the most old-fashioned musical ALW ever wrote. It’s charming but the pace is slow.
-
First DoorDash issue ever - delivered to wrong address. I alerted him the minute he sent me the photo of the front door (that's how they let you know it's there), and he said he was going back to get it - only the jerks who live at that address had already taken it in. I guess he didn't want to confront, so he says he's going back to the restaurant to get it again - I don't know if he has to pay or not, but I'd really like to know where he left it so I could pay those jerks a little visit myself. This was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago and if he's not at the restaurant in eight minutes they close.
-
That doesn’t sound good.
-
I picked up my meal tonight. Braised short ribs. Lamb-filled pasta. The chocolate mousse torte was wonderful. I have enough leftovers for lunch.
-
By Jeeves seemed to have had more music in the reprises than it did in the whole show. I wanted to like it more than I did, but I'm glad I finally saw it.
-
And now I'm off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. Might take a drive.
-
The DoorDash thing was a comedy of errors - two of the same order, so I let the fellow who lives in the back house have the extra.
-

I wouldn't want a "surprise" gift of food left at my door. It is possible they did think a friend sent it.
-
Well, I now know where it was delivered - the street to the east of me, my address, so who knows what I may do tomorrow.
-
When I wear a mask at the store or the doctor, I have to put it out of my mind. If I think about it, my claustrophobia kicks in.
-
I'm good for about five minutes with the mask.
-
Back from a nice drive.
-
I drive and we still aren't on page five.
-
I blame George.
-
I blame Mame.
-
I blame Rio.
-
I blame the Bossa Nova.
-
This genius they interviewed on the news from today’s demonstration said that he felt the way the virus was described to him, it did not make sense.
-
Well, I now know where it was delivered - the street to the east of me, my address, so who knows what I may do tomorrow.
In this day and age, when a man can be murdered for asking a girl to wear a face mask; I think I would let the whole thing slide!
-
Where is everyone?
-
Where is anyone?
-
Where is someone?
-
Where is no one?

Where the boys are?

I keep looking at my bank account and hoping my BENEFACTOR shows up sooner rather than later.
~~~Vibes for Jrand's BENEFACTOR!!~~~
Here. Hi, Tom.
-
The page has been turned.
-
Hello, George. You’re late for your entrance.
-
Hello, George. You’re late for your entrance.
Better late than never. ::)
-
It was 84 degrees today.
-
But it will drop off to 83 tomorrow.
-
I will need to wear a sweater.
-
But no pants.
-
It was 84 degrees today.
It snowed in New York
-
I saw a pair of men’ jeans in a catalog today that were fur-lined. Yuck.
-
In May
-
Normally today is the day I buy flats of flowers at the church’s annual flower sale to support the youth summer program
-
Then I plant them
-
No sale
-
No flowers
-
It was 84 degrees today.
It snowed in New York
It snowed in Greenland, too.
-
And even had I not been on mom minding duty
-
No panting in this weather
-
I mean of course no planting
-
Prayers to you and vixgrand, vixmom.
-
The no panting is apparently taking place at TCBs place
-
Prayers to you and vixgrand, vixmom.
Thank you, my friend
-
Well, I now know where it was delivered - the street to the east of me, my address, so who knows what I may do tomorrow.
Is the street name similar to yours?
-
My brother worked last night from midnight to 8 so I stayed over last night and until 6 pm today, then brother and his wife came with dinner for Mom
-
Good night, ladies and gentleman.
-
So I headed out, did some banking for Mom then went home and reintroduced myself to Vixdad
-
He recognized me eventually
-
Took a nice long hot shower
-
Made dinner
-
On the other side of Ashland from where we lived there was a street with almost the same name as our street. It complicated deliveries a few times.
-
Pork chops browned in a little olive oil infused with blood orange
-
Rice pilaf
-
When I wear a mask at the store or the doctor, I have to put it out of my mind. If I think about it, my claustrophobia kicks in.
Sorry.
-
Baby carrots in butter and saucy paris seasoning
-
Ew. :P
-
I saw a pair of men’ jeans in a catalog today that were fur-lined. Yuck.
Yuck.
-
No sale
:(
-
Once the chops were cooked through I let them rest a bit on a warm covered plate and cooked sliced peaches in the drippings until they were browned
-
It was 84 degrees today.
It snowed in New York
It snowed in Greenland, too.
;D
-
I used them to garnish the chops
-
Dessert was Friendly's mocha chip ice cream
-
So I headed out, did some banking for Mom then went home and reintroduced myself to Vixdad
Nice :)
-
A cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer
-
He recognized me eventually
😄
-
Then a kiss to vixdad and back to moms
I just got a UPS delivery from Petco, which completely floored me. I placed the order two days ago, and I didn't expect it to arrive for another week.
Cool! I ordered some Friskies cat food through Amazon's Subscribe & Save automatic delivery and the next case is supposed to arrive on Monday. I get a case of 24 cans every two months, but I think I need to make it every month. We'll see how long it takes her to get through this case.
-
I'm now attempting to ketchup on today's posts.
