Well, you've read the notes, the notes were well-dressed, and now it is time for you to post until the well-dressed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOMONYMOUS!
-
Topic of the Day: I haven't really cooked much at all. I've been supporting local restaurants (and locally owned chaines), such as Red Wagon, Taco Bell, Meconi's, Happy Teriyaki, Jersey Mikes, Subway, and my regular Friday joint, Eagan's. I've also gotten quite a bit of leftovers from my family get-togethers. :)
-
Today, I get to go into work! Actually, I need to, so that I can pay a few invoices and check my mail. I'm sure a few other people will be there, but not many.
-
Tonight, a friend is organizing a practice Zoom meeting because he wants to do an online reading of a play with some actor friends. I'll be helping with the practice Zoom meeting, but won't be participating in the actual reading next week, just watching. I'm sure that it'll go well, especially since there's no music involved. ;)
-
And now, I must get to sleep so that I can wake up in time to go to work early enough to actually get some time in.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think I slept pretty well. The cats behaved rather well, I think.
-
T.O.D.
Whatever my dear wife puts on the table.
-
DR TCB, I sent you the PM you requested. I'll post the info here as well:
I go in for surgery Monday morning, June 1, time not yet set. The surgery will be Monday morning. One surgeon believes I will be released on June 3, and the other suggested June 4. My friend Joshie will be liaison on progress and updates to a list of family and a few friends. DR Ginny is my HHW delegate.
-
The panic hasn't fully set in yet. I'm actually more worried about the cats than myself. This will be the first time I've left them for several days. My neighbor Judy will be feeding them, but she doesn't know their personalities or behavior as I do. I will warn her that Annabelle gets really crazy and ambivalent about food I put out and food she wants instead. She knows that Thatch will hide until she leaves the apartment.
-
And I worry a great deal about what will happen to them if I do not return. Plans are in place, but the best laid plans of mice and men . . .
-
I will work on my orchestration today. I need to see Jeff the super about a bathroom leak as well. I hope he can come up and take care of it today.
-
TOD
I've mostly been eating what the food deliveries bring. Usually, it's grilled chicken strips, a vegetable - mixed, peas and carrots, or brussels sprouts - roasted potatoes, tuna salad, and potato salad. The last delivery brought bagels, cream cheese, and cranberry juice. The breakfast selection is usually pretty wonky.

I like to think New Yorkers are pretty smart and together, and then thjis idiot woman proves me wrong. I just want to slap her!

Kitty cleanup is over. I need to take some garbage to the basement.
-
Good morning, all.

Homonymous Bosch is one of my favorite painters.

I’d like to stand in a long line behind you to do the same. Unfortunately, you can’t fix stupid, but it would be fun to try to slap it out of her.
-
Some would consider gay people who are in the closet as HOMONYMOUS.
-
TOD:
Just about the same......since I cook every few days and eat sandwiches on the other days.
I don't eat out at all - so expensive - or order in.....sometimes I do have a Papa John's night, but it has been quite awhile since I have done that.
I get an email every day from them with a special....so maybe I will do that when it cools off later this week.

DR Jane re: the question you asked yesterday about neighbors breaking the law by having people in their homes.
We were told that nobody from outside the household was supposed to be in house. Was it a law? Probably not. But it was clearly stated. They were also having people in their backyards. Which again was probably not an actual law. But we were told that it was not allowed. Same with meeting up with friends at parks. Because it would lead to people doing things that would not be good.
I would say that most people were quite good about this. Although one neighbor kept having people visit on the street, yet they were standing right on top of each other.
I guess everyone had to decide for themselves what they were willing to give up. It just really bothered me on Mother's Day when the people next door had two cars in their driveway and at least 2-3 people in their house (probably their kids or family). And the people across the street had 2-3 people in their house.
-
When restaurants re-open will most people here flock to them like BK said in the notes? I just can't see myself doing this anytime soon.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Elmore, I know that Judy and Joshie and DR Ginny will take care of everything. Judy will probably even have it easier than you think. There were a couple of times when we all had to be away and have friends come over to feed the kitties for a few days, and I'm the biggest worrier in the world, but it always went fine. Does she know how to get in and out without the usual suspects escaping?
-
I did order a pizza last week, and I will probably order quite a bit when I return from hospital.
-
I expect my re-participation in "life outside" to be an extremely cautious and gradual thing.
-
Last night we watched the Geraldine McEwen Miss Marple mystery, The Body in the Library, which was a little too updated for me. Killer lesbians seem too far afield from Miss Christie's characters.
-
Given the coast of the siding, I can’t afford to go out anymore.

Judy has had several encounters retrieving my cats on the loose!

I saw the story but hadn't watched the video. The poor dog. If your dog is off leash and someone asks you to leash it that is what you do.
-
Last night I watched The Sand Pebbles which I had never seen - I liked it.
It was very interesting and the story was intriguing.
I had kind of avoided it for over 50 years because it didn't seem like something I would be interested in.
I was wrong.

We see visitors here all the time. I am guessing they are also going inside and not simply visiting outside though I don't know for sure.

Jeff has stopped by and repaired my bathroom issue. He's a good super, not as good as Val, but who is?

I expected 3 days prior to surgery. It is even better if they can get results back in 2 days.

Gas prices at our local Costco and BJ's held at $1.65 for two solid months. This morning they're up to $1.69.
-
I believe I mentioned I have been doing a virtual trip with someone on FB. This morning we swam in the beautiful waters of Tahiti.
-
I met the friend on FB as we grew up in the same area and have many mutual friends. He began this trip and the number of people now traveling with him has grown. We are talking as if we are actually doing the actives he shares.
-
The photos are beautiful as are the accomondations.
-
Oh, we have also been traveling by private jet.
-
Funny is that every once in awhile he has to explain to someone that this is a virtual trip.

DR Laura I miss seeing photos of your daily walks.

Tuesday morning greetings!
And the word of the day is: HOMONYMOUS!
Homonymous Bosch is one of my favorite painters.
And my high school Spanish teacher was Mrs. Homonymous.
-
I spent the noon hour on Google Meet with the book discussion group that usually meets at the library where my career began. And I'm about to get together on Zoom with my retired librarian friends from ALA to talk about new books. In between, Richard and I went to our local public library where he received 3 hold items via curb-side pick-up - just like Kroger!
-
Curbside books, I like that. Are you using sanitizer wipes on them before reading? Letting them rest a couple of days first, something?
-
We have been informed our clubhouse has puzzles people can borrow. I would not want to touch them.
-

I think Richard went over them with a disinfectant wipe when we got home and threw the bag away. I don't blame you about the puzzles.
-
Good idea. I know, all those puzzle pieces that had been touched.
-
Three!

Started watching the AMTSJ version of Beauty and the Beast. What a boring show. I’ve never seen the stage version before. I made through the long and dreary act I, but I don’t have much interest in returning.
-
I just saw that Amy Cooper, the woman in the Central Park story about the unleashed dog and racist phone call, has been terminated from her job. I do not feel sorry for her at all.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep, almost, closer to seven-and-a-half. Woke up at eleven and have been on the phone or trying to catch up on e-mails ever since. Need to think about food and it's either going to be Barone's or Island's, I think, although I could also do pasta papa from Hugo's and be very happy.
-
"Travel" vibes for DR JANE.
-
One of my first theatre directors once said to me that on every project I worked on, there would usually be one butt that made things difficult and less fun for everyone involved.
For the most part, that has been true.
He also said that it was important to make sure that you are NOT the butt.
-
Barone's for the win. No mail or packages today, very upsetting.
-

Yes, hearing about that swift bit of justice was a rare treat.
-
I want my library to open with curbside pickup so bad!

Not at all but I do feel bad for her dog. Do you know which shelter she surrendered it to? I hope it is a good one.

LOL, thanks :)

I hope you will have it soon.

Curious, I checked and my local library system is completely closed.

It seems the Ashland & the county system it is in do have curbside service.

The dog was returned to the rescue group from which she adopted it. Their FB page has a ton of requests to not give the dog back to her.

Very interesting call just now. Can't say more, nor will it benefit me in any way, but interesting nonetheless.

I suspect there will be a number of people who want the dog.

I’m really enjoying Major Pettigrew. I’m taking it slowly so far.
-
I made potato salad with mint one more time. I think the mint in the backyard will only be good for the rest of the week. It gets bitter and tough in the summer heat.
-
My back is worse tonight. Despite efforts to keep things moving, I think I sat too much today.
-
Finished Leon Morin, Priest.
-
Barone's was excellent - the medium there is ten "slices" BUT - the slices are square less than half the size of a normal slice of pizza, so it's more like a personal five-slice pizza.
-
Finished Leon Morin, Priest.
I liked that movie, but I didn't love it.

Back to Beauty and the Beast -- though I really don't know why. Thankfully, it's only 40 minutes or so.
-

Yes, hearing about that swift bit of justice was a rare treat.
I wish Ms. Amy Cooper would have realized that the man she degraded with her ridiculous actions shared the same name as her. They're both Coopers.

Let's move on ...

Tonight I’m watching a production of Pericles, Prince of Tyre, as staged by the Eugene, Ore., Shakespeare in the Park. The budget appears to have been under $50, but the actors are good.

The Pericles is wearing chinos under his tunic.

My Ashland hiking group is returning to their hikes. They will drive in their own cars and wear masks. I would do that.

I saw the story but hadn't watched the video. The poor dog. If your dog is off leash and someone asks you to leash it that is what you do.
And if she had just done that she would still have a job and a dog. Amazing the amount of entitlement and privilege people can have. It is infuriating. I wish the police had also arrested he4 and charged her with filing a false report.

J.K. Rowling is offering her latest book, The Ickabog, online in serial form, a new chapter a day until June 10. It’s a charming fairy tale, at least the first two chapters are.
-
Only a chapter a day. I will wait until it is completed to begin reading it, if I do read it.
-
Oh, I get it. It is meant to be read to your children ;)

It is kind of strange that my doctor had to remind me to get signed up for Disney + 3 (or is it Disney 3 +). He wants to make sure that I get to see the original Broadway cast in HAMILTON.

And I worry a great deal about what will happen to them if I do not return. Plans are in place, but the best laid plans of mice and men . . .

He absolutely loves that show. I considered warning him about the reputation there is for men who love musical theater.

My friend Margo told me that Verizon customers (which I am) can get Disney+whatever for free! HOWEVER, it's not just any Verizon customer. I think you have to have 5G service and some unlimited plan, neither of which I have. ::)
-
Oh, well. I just might spring for one month of the service to see this one show. I wonder if one can subscribe for just one month. I guess I'll have to find out.

And now, I must get to sleep so that I can wake up in time to go to work early enough to actually get some time in.

I was actually able to go to work and get about five hours in! I then went to the local Red Wagon and got their deluxe bacon cheeseburger. It's quite good! Actually, all of their burgers are!

Not knowing what it regularly is, I'm assuming that that's good??
