Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both sense and sensibility, and now it is time for you to post until the sensible cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DOOVER!
-
Happy Birthday to occasional DR ArnoldMBrockman!
-
Topic of the Day: I haven't watched it yet, but I borrowed a co-worker's copy of The Big Lebowski. I've had it for far too many months, and even though I've been home for two, count 'em, TWO whole months, I haven't really watched any movies, including this one. But, I WILL watch this one, because I want to return the DVD to my co-worker...eventually. Over the years, I've read enough about the movie and have seen clips on YouTube and the Internet to know that I'm sure that I'll like it. I just need to watch it. ::)
;D

Sometime in the early 2000s, I bought the original London cast recording to The Hired Man (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Hired-Man-The-1984-Original-London-Cast/1200/) by Melvyn Bragg and Howard Goodall. I bought it because it was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber. When I first got it, I listened to it once, and it didn't really grab me, so I just shelved it with the rest of my records and didn't think about it. Then a few years later, I said to myself that I really should listen to it again to make sure that I don't like it. I listened again and something must've happened in the intervening years because I instantly loved it!

Today, I have a Zoom check-in for my department at 10:00 in the freakin' morning, and then an all-staff update Zoom meeting at a more respectable 2:00 in the afternoon. Each is scheduled to last an hour. In the past, they may have ended early, but they've never gone past that hour, so that's good.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
My iMac is dead, so I am on my MacBook. I cannot call AppleCare until 8:00 because the computer is now seven years old and it's no longer under their protection. I'm hoping the support will help me get it back into commission.
-
I slept very poorly between the computer crash and the dead AC. I'll talk to Jeff about the air conditioner.
-
T.O.D.
When I was in high school, I avoided seeing CITIZEN KANE because it looked boring.
Then, when I was in college, it was on TV. I watched it and was "blown away".
I know that some people disagree with me, but I am among those who think it's the greatest American film ever made.
-
The last movie I saw in a theater was 8 years ago, ZERO DARK THIRTY.
I used to rent films from Redbox, but not much any more.
Frankly, there's nothing out there that interests me.
I do try to see the Oscar contenders, though I've avoided PARASITE.
I don't like to "read" my films.
I guess it's an age thing.
-
Actually, there's a lot of good stuff on TV these days.
However, that's going to change soon because of the pandemic.
Thankfully, I have 4000+ movies on DVD.
-
Good morning, all.
-
At a party, I’m usually the one pigging out on the horse’s DOOVERs.
-
iMac and AC vibes for DR Elmore!
-
TOD
Been there, done it. Even fairly recently. I’m blanking on examples at the moment, but there have been plenty.
-
I was in bed by three and it is now six and I have not slept one moment.
-
It's early and MR BK is here.
We used to have a DOOVER but then we switched to an Electrolux.
-
Air conditioner & iMac vibes for DR ELMORE....
-
Rain today - but still warm....highs in the 70's.
-
TOD:
The Sand Pebbles - I am sure THAT is a surprise [if you don't read the posts].
Funny Girl - which turned out to be very entertaining
The China Syndrome - much better than I thought with terrific performances
-
Package vibes for MR BK.
-
DR TCB did you get your computer camera working?
-
Vibes for the friends of DR JOHN G.
-
Still on my MacBook. At 8:00 I called Applecare and spoke to a lady from Florida. I don't think she knows what a computer does. Her advice: restart and see if it comes back within two hours. It was no help since it had been frozen all night as it tried to update. She seemed completely uninterested in doing more.
-
I let it run for an hour and nothing happened, so I called back hoping I'd find someone more savvy. I got RJ from Toronto, who decided the best option was to wipe the Mac clean and reinstall my last backup from May 22. An hour later, my iMac is loading the last backup. In nine hours or less I should be in working order.
-
I need to find our super and talk to him about the AC.
-
iMac reloading vibes for DR ELMORE
-
Thursday morning greetings! Dinner (split pea soup with ham, pork, and carrots) is in the crockpot and I've done my ankle PT.
-
Computer and AC vibes for DR Elmore!
-
My Mac should be running again in another hour. I walked to the bank, and between the heat and humidity I was soaking wet when I got home around 12:30, I stripped to my boxers and lay down with Thatch and Stella for a bit Around 2:00 I decided to take a cool bath.
-
I was in bed by three and it is now six and I have not slept one moment.
This is unusual for you. I hope you managed to sleep.
-
DR elmore I hope you have help from your super today and have air tonight.
-
We went to Safeway this morning. It wasn't crowded and felt comfortable to shop, still these days we like to get out as fast as possible.
-
I snagged Method Coconut Water Foam soap today. I was selfish and purchased two bottles. I gave one to Keith and checked out separately from him with the items I had picked up.
-
Bruce I meant to look and see if they had drumsticks. Keith & I both got ice cream we wanted.
-
I also picked up a box of mini ice cream cones for my Häagen-Dazs. I have been eating more cones these days and only had one left.
-
No sanitizer, wipes, or yeast as usual.
-
I could have purchased TP. Maybe next time.
-
After putting the groceries away we went to the post office and then drove over to Fort Vancouver for our morning walk.
-
We walked on Officers Row in the shade of the beautiful old trees.
-
Eighty degrees and clear today.....sun is finally shining!
I may sit on my front porch for awhile.
-
I hope MR BK is getting some sleep.
-
Slow day at HHW today.....May 28, 2020.
-
I'm up, I'm up - was up at ten after about three and a half hours of sleep, went back to bed at noon, woke up at one. I'll take the four and a half hours and hopefully whatever movie I choose for later will put me right to sleep.
-
Saw the new trio with the re-shot third gal and now it's great.
-
I'm back from my every-other-weekly or whatever it's been trip to the grocery store. I only wanted half a dozen things, and it was time to both get out for a bit and to take the car for a drive.
I got the items I wanted, and I could even have picked up some TP and PT, but we just don't need any yet. It's just good to see some of these precious items actually on shelves in the paper aisle. I didn't think to look for sanitizer and wipes because we're well stocked on that, too.
-

Good to hear the Mac will be good to go once the restoring is finished.
I hope Jeff will be on the AC job soon!
-
I've got two (count 'em) of my friends' Facebook Live things to watch tonight, and you know what I'm really most in the mood to do instead?
Sit back and watch a damned movie.
Let's see. I'll be juggling the two FB things that both start at 7:30, and they should both be done by 9:00. So damn it to HELL, why not just have a good movie ready to pop in afterwards? I ask you.
-
But wait a minute. 7:30 is almost two and half hours from now. It feels later than 5 pm because of my running around. I'm going to go down and watch something now. Yes, that's the ticket.
Oh! I've got the second half of SHIP OF FOOLS to watch. Shame on me, because I watched the first half several nights ago. I never let an interruption go that long. So, SHIP OF FOOLS, coming right up!
-
And I am back on my iMac! It took forever to get going after all the hard drive files were transferred, but I am back online and very happy.
-
I did not see Jeff the super, so it's another AC-less night.
-

Welcome back to your iMac.
-
I did not see Jeff the super, so it's another AC-less night.
I hope you can sleep in spite of the heat.
-
Good evening, all.
-
The day’s thunderstorm is rumbling through. I hope there’s no hail. Plenty of folks I work with suffered hail damage last night. Car dents, broken windows, roof damage.
-
The lawn guy came by today. The yard looks nice.

I always think it’s going to be dry beforehand. But turn that movie on and I’m hooked every time.

Carol is home from the hospital. She’s having a bad bout of pneumonia.

Three!

I need to make a grocery run.

Oh my. Vibes you continue to stay safe from hail damage.

Continued vibes for her.

Hello, everyone.
-
AC vibes to Larry!
-
Vibes for John G's back and his friend Carol.
-
No surprise that frozen pizza and ice cream aren't on the shelves. Comfort food for many.
-
I know that John G and George (?) mentioned J K Rowling's THE ICKABOG, but what wasn't mentioned was the illustration contest. Kids are asked to submit drawings relating to the series. The winning drawings will illustrate the book, which comes out in November. A very nice idea, I think. Ms Rowling cares deeply about kids and this will give them something fun during lockdown.
-
Re films you never expected to like...
I think a lot has to do with the advertising. Many times I've gotten a certain impression based on the ads only to find the film wasn't like that at all.
-
TTFN.
-
Vibes for Carol.
-
We had a quick heavy rain that sent all of the neighborhood kids into the street screaming and kicking the puddles.....

I think it’s a great idea. I didn’t want to give it all away.
-
Back from the market. There weren’t many people but it’s back to only about 50% wearing masks. Still some shortages. Today, canned beans were largely gone. It is a staple here. Ice cream was in full supply. Since I don’t buy frozen pizza, I don’t know about that.
-
Good evening.
-
That's about all from here.

Why? Why do we need a new film version of Fiddler?

I saw something about the contest but didn't really know what it is. Thanks for the details.

Same with books.

I think that is cute. I hope they weren't too loud for you.

But did you check if drumsticks were available ;)

Safeway all the employees wear masks and most of the shoppers were also wearing them.
-
After dinner Keith said let's go for a walk.
-
First mistake it was 99 degrees out.
-
Second all the rude people, including trespassers, were out crowding the walkway and heading down to the beach and parking where it says no parking.
-
Third, or maybe I should have said first, the mosquitoes were out.

Soaked in epsom salts earlier. Now I’m on the heating pad. My back still won’t treat me right.
-
Good night, all.
-
Jane, when you take your walks, do you power walk or stroll?
-
Finished with my viewing but mostly doing Kritzerland show stuff.
-
Did a quick Gelson's run but apparently everyone is now drinking caffeine free Diet Coke - you could not give it away before this began, now they're out of it. Toilet paper and paper towels, yes. But I'll tell you what has not been on the shelves for ten WEEKS - 409. There are many brands that are exactly the same, but apparently people ONLY want 409. I have not seen a thing of it in a full ten weeks. To me, that is absurd.

More vibes it begins to feel better.

We set a good pace. Since we can't go to the gym in the mornings we are makiing that walk longer and faster. Our afternoon walk is more relaxing and shorter.
As for power walking we might do stretches where we go extra fast, but then sometimes we also stopped to chat with people.
-
Had a Chinese chicken salad for lunch - very good. The just had a bagel and some pudding for my snack.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
Interesting about the 409. Maybe because it sanitizes. I already had some Keith bought and began using it. I prefer Clorox Clean Up.
-
If there were no alternatives to 409 I'd understand it - it's just wacky to me.
-
I am wearing my Alamo t-shirt today.
The rent-a-car company?
-
Guess I should write some notes right about now.

Well, both Zoom meetings went well and were quite informative.
-
It looks like some staff will start to work in the buildings starting June 8, but not everyone, and not everywhere.
-
I think I and others in my area will be able to because we're far enough away from each other.
-
I'll find out soon enough. :)
-
Hi, Tom and BK.
-
I haven't been doing much of anything today.
-
First mistake it was 99 degrees out.
99 degrees?? Did you move again and not tell me?
-
I woke up just in time for my first Zoom meeting, then afterward, I had time to take a shower.
-
First mistake it was 99 degrees out.
99 degrees?? Did you move again and tell me?
Oh, my! I can't imagine it getting that hot, yet!
-

If many brands are exactly the same, why don’t you buy one of them?
-
It was a beautiful day today, but I live in Washington State, so it was 80 degrees and not 99 degrees.
-
Hello, George.
-
Hello, BK.
-
I finally got my CT scan scheduled. The soonest I could get an appointment is next Thursday. Damn it all to hell!
-
Page 4? Still?
-
One more post.
-
Page 5
-
Whew!
-
So, after my second Zoom meeting, I read my Kindle a bit, then went to my sister's because she has some leftover cinnamon roll bread pudding and didn't want the rest! I did...yum!
-
Then, I went shopping for cream cheese and cupcake baking cups.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to my parents' for card playing and dinner (not necessarily in that order), and said that I'd bring cheesecake for dessert.
-
At least we made it to page five.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to my parents' for card playing and dinner (not necessarily in that order), and said that I'd bring cheesecake for dessert.
Why don’t they ever come to your house anymore?
-
When I got to the store, I saw the paper cupcake cups and realized that making one whole cheesecake would actually be more of a hassle than mini-cheesecakes (mainly, no water bath!), so I got the paper cups.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to my parents' for card playing and dinner (not necessarily in that order), and said that I'd bring cheesecake for dessert.
Why don’t they ever come to your house anymore?
I haven't really cleaned my house in quite a while...even though I've been home for two whole months. ::)
-
I'm a procrastinator. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
;)
-
Anyway, I haven't made the mini-cheesecakes, yet. I'll do that in the morning and still have time for them to refrigerate before I go over there.
-
Why? See post #129.
-
;D
-
I'm a procrastinator. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If you wait long enough, your mom and sister will come over and clean it for you.

Saw the new trio with the re-shot third gal and now it's great.
Nice!

If you wait long enough, your mom and sister will come over and clean it for you.
That will NOT happen again! All my mom wants to do is throw away everything...even things like TAO's financial information that I legally need to keep since I'm still the treasurer!
-
Well, it it time for bed.
-
Good night, George.
-
And I am back on my iMac! It took forever to get going after all the hard drive files were transferred, but I am back online and very happy.
Whew!!

Good night, Tom.

Safeway all the employees wear masks and most of the shoppers were also wearing them.
When I was at Fred Meyer today, most but not all employees were wearing masks. I noticed more customers wesring masks than in the past, but still not everyone was, either.
-
As of today, "Thurston County Residents are now required* to mask in public."
*Bold is mine.
-
HERE (https://www.thurstoncountywa.gov/tchome/pages/newsreleasedetail.aspx?List-ID=2068) is the official news release.
-
"People can use fabric coverings, such as cloth face masks, scarves, and bandana coverings or other material as recommended by CDC. N95 masks are still reserved for health care providers."
-
And it also lists exemptions.

And now...

Dear George, please tell your parents that your L A sister thinks they done a good job raisin' you.
Well, thanks, jan! :-*
-
Good luck with your card game!
-
Thanks, again, jan! We play so much that it really doesn't matter if I win that often. We all win sometimes and we all lose sometimes. ;)
