Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unmasked, and now it is time for you to post until the unmasked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AFICIONADO!
-
Topic of the Day: fortunately, no.
-
To finish up my wallet story from last night (you know where this is going):
So, I put all my cards and my money in my new wallet and it all kind of fits (all the slots are just the tiniest bit too small :P ), but the real problem is, is that the new wallet can't really close! :o If I actually squeeze it all together, the cards in the left hand slots (when it's open) bend near the center and will eventually crack and break. That's not good at all. So, I put everything all back in my previous wallet and just deal with having cards where cards shouldn't be.
-
That's a shame you can't use your new wallet. Can you return it?
-
'night
-
That's a shame you can't use your new wallet. Can you return it?
No, I used it for a few days and it's all stretched out, but not enough to make room for the extra cards not to break. It was only $10, so not a great loss.
-
Good night, Jane.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Around 9:30 last night, with all the thunder, I thought we were in for a big night of storms, but I see from DR vixmom's late night post that it did not last long. Supposedly between 2:30 and 4:00 this afternoon we are in for a Big Tropcal Storm. I am very happy I'm staying in.
-
This morning I need to drag out the Big Ladder and bring down some cat food. Yesterday I served Friskies Salmon & Beef for dinner, and all three cats turned it down. Stella at least tried it before rejecting it, but Annabelle and Thatch refused to go near it. So, I pitched it, washed their dishes, and gave them Fancy Feast salmon, which they all ate.
-
My only other plans for today are to work on my book for a bit and nap with the cats.
-
I am pleased to announce that an audio edition of my first novel, NOBODY DROWNS IN MINERAL LAKE (1999), is finally available for download via audible.com, Amazon or iTunes.
"Mineral Lake" is, of course, a pseudonym for SOAP LAKE, WA, where I spent many summers during the early years of my life.
The novel of suspense, read by Chip Dolan, is the story of a homecoming that quickly develops into your worst nightmare.
"A fascinating tale based on a true story." -- John Austin, Book of the Week.
The novel is also available in paperback and Kindle editions.

Speaking of books I'd rather read, I just saw an interview with Isabel Wlkerson on CBS This Morning. Her book sopunds quite interesting.
-
This makes me hope there will be other exciting discoveries in other collections:

Good morning!
-
Is an AFICIONADO something like a SHARKNADO?
-
How could I have forgotten these names in my list for yesterday's TOD?
Tommy Rettig
John Provost
HAYLEY MILLS
Tommy Kirk
-
TOD:
None so far......I have stared at people.....but seeing some videos on YouTube, etc, really makes me wary of saying anything....
-
I am late today.
It is Tuesday and I was adding a new episode of the web series to the website and Facebook.....and my computer was NOT cooperating.
-
Mystery Project vibes for MR BK.
-
I looked at the TCM lineup one more time at about 1 a.m. and finally figured out that the star of the day today is S.Z. Sakall.
-
Good morning, all.
Just squeaking under the wire here.
-
When I pulled the bed out to make it, I discovered that pica-cat Stella managed to access the roll of paper towels I keep close to my bed for things like Thatch's hairball last night. The roll was completely shredded, so along with getting the Big Ladder and pulling cat food I had to pull the vacuum out, dump what paper I could into a waste bin, and vacuum. So much for an easy morning.
-
My next project is to sort cat food and put them into the cats' food cartons. I doubt I'll get to "the book" today.
-
Off the top of my head (which doesn't hold all that much, as you might imagine), the only times I've called someone out for bad behavior would have been at a movie theater -- and though I'm no Patti LuPone, probably at a live performance or two as well. This would be for loud talking or for bright cell phone screens being on. And it wouldn't have been where I'd be putting myself in a direct confrontation with the perp.
-
As much as I hate to admit it, I wouldn't be any more inclined than anyone else to confront someone who's violating any of today's hot issues. Depending on the circumstances, I'd probably try to find proper help, but I draw the line at putting myself in the line of fire.
-
Facebook started doing this latest in a series of hateful things a couple of days ago (on the desktop/browser version, not the app, which I don't use):
I'll be scrolling down some page (usually my news feed), and if I click on a "Like" or on some other kind of link, it pops me back up to the top of the page and, of course, refreshes it so I lose wherever the HELL I was. The "Like" takes effect, but I'd have to go looking for that post if I needed to see it again. I'm curious as to whether it's "just me" or if anyone else has experienced this.
-
Bruce did you know that Karen Bass, on Biden's short list, graduated from Hami? Of course a bit after we graduated.
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! We're picking up groceries soon and then will be in for, probably, the rest of the week.
Oh, look, I found page 2!
-
TOD - One of the topics of lengthy discussion last evening on our AAUW Zoom board meeting was having a book sale to get rid of what we've already accumulated at the site. They're looking at mid-September with social distancing and masks required and I have no desire to be part of trying to enforce that. I'll do all the emailing and Facebook posting they need to publicize, but I won't do anything in person.
-
Good morning.
-
DR Ginny's post reminded me to check into what the Danbury library is doing about their sale which is always on Columbus Day weekend. It's cancelled.
We lost all of the library sales this season, and we have some great ones in this area. I shall optimistically look forward to next year's sales (1) actually happening, and (2) being better than ever.
-
Another spot on the Facebook page where this annoyance happens:
On the left side of my home page I have a number of shortcuts for various groups I'm in, and the default is to show only the first four or five of those. So I click "More" to see them all, and now that simply refreshes my whole damned page and I have to click it a second time to make the other groups display.
Little things. But so infuriating.

This hurricane seems to have moved up the coast pretty quickly. Looking at the radar, it's already over northern New Jersey. We're just on the eastern edge of the big rotating mass, and it's windy, but nothing to write home about. But there will be more, up to 4:00 or 5:00 pm, then rain and more rain following that.

I'll have more for you after January 1.

I think it's already started raining here, but I'm not hearing any sounds of a huge storm. Maybe later.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
We just had a news alert: if you're living on Shelter Island, take shelter. So it's sounding more serious than I expected.
-
Now here's a political question: with all these constant alerts to the US Postal Service going bankrupt and the Fat Orange Slug's having his new Postmaster General slow down the mail, why the fat hell is neither the House nor Senate doing anything?
-

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
DIdn't know Karen Bass was a Hami graduate.
-
Karen Belsky, yes, Karen Bass no. Karen Belsky married a man named Bull so she's now Karen Bull, not Karen Bass.
-
George, how is your mom?
-
I don’t wanna work today.
-
I don’t wanna work today.
After I cleaned up Stella's mess and put the vacuum cleaner and Big Ladder away, I spoke to Joshie who's at City Center today, worked on the A&T book a bit, and then sorted the cans of cat food I had brought down. In fifteen minutes I'll feed the cats, take the recyclables to the basement, check the mail, and think about dinner.

;D
-
DIdn't know Karen Bass was a Hami graduate.
It is mentioned in Wikipedia. "She was raised in the Venice and Fairfax neighborhoods of Los Angeles and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in 1971."
Reading that I am not sure why she went to Hami. I am guessing she was on the border.
-
Congrats DR Druxy.
-
Bruce I forgot last night that the rude guy that sneezed did have his mask on when he sneezed. Two masks for protection. No wonder you aren't concerned.
-
The story I told the other day of the person who almost ran us over on their bicycle is our main confrontation, and it was a biggie. We did not have our masks on at the time since we were in a quiet area where avoiding people should have been easy. As the other person did not have a mask on I had to tell Keith to back away 6 feet.

We have many rude people on the walkway that bike, walk, etc too close to us. Most the time we don't say anything. Fortunately there are plenty of polite people. I especially appreciate parents who instruct their children to be thoughtful. It doesn't always work due to the age and distractions for the children but at least the parents are trying.
-
Yesterday a women instructed her daughter, who was on a scooter, to move to keep people safe. I gave the mother a big smile of appreciation. I always try to smile & let the parents know I appreciate their efforts, if they succeed or not.

Sometimes it is a challenge for the little children to steer their bikes & scooters. ;D

:o Yikes! That's so stupid! I haven't experienced that myself, yet.

Now here's a political question: with all these constant alerts to the US Postal Service going bankrupt and the Fat Orange Slug's having his new Postmaster General slow down the mail, why the fat hell is neither the House nor Senate doing anything?
Well, the Senate drank the Trump Kool-Aid long ago, but I don't know why the House isn't doing anything. ::)
-
PAGE THREE DANCE!!
-
George, how is your mom?
As of yesterday, she was doing okay. :) I don't know about today, yet.

I have not had this issue.
-
Three!
-
Elmore, Caste is Oprah’s latest book club selection.
-
DR CHAS SMITH my main issue right with BookFace is that when I go to "Like" something - it instead opens up the post to full screen instead of just letting me "Like."
It happens at least a half dozen times a day.
-
Maybe someone will find that "lost" film that I made when I was younger.....although it may have been a talkie.
-
Elmore, Caste is Oprah’s latest book club selection.
I know. That's why the author was on CBS This Morning. It sounds quite interesting.
-
This is 8-week old Argus, up for adoption at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. I think I'm in love!
-
The problem with masks and smiling is that no one knows you're smiling.
-
Picked up packages, made tuna sandwiches, ate them, had more mystery project fun, and now I'm listening to music. I think I may finally talk about the mystery project tomorrow, but it's just something fun and interesting that I wanted to see the result of.

Sweet!

Purdy putty tat.
-
I had White Castle for dinner. I tried their new chicken rings, which were pretty darn snacky. And a few sliders.
-

The problem with masks and smiling is that no one knows you're smiling.
Especially if you are wearing sunglasses.
-
The storm hit us today and it was a doozy
-
Work done. Now some relaxing.
-
I actually was feeling slightly under the weather this morning so I called in sick for the first time since I have been there
-
I fell asleep in the recliner for a while and then , feeling better I made myself some lunch
-
Vixdad wasn’t hungry
-
Suddenly the wind picked up like crazy, all the trees whipping back and forth
-
Then we heard a huge crash and the power went out
-
We live on a corner.
-
The neighbor on the corner across the side street had their huge maple tree come down,
-
Right across the main road
-
Amazingly within 20 minutes three town trucks showed up and the guys made short work of clearing it all up, cutting the tree into pieces running it through a wood chipper which dumped the shredded wood into the back of one of the trucks
-
They were done in about 30 minutes
-

Good!

Amazing!
-
Well, this is pretty cool...Seth and James are hosting a live (as of this posting) LA Law Reunion (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEezRXQc478):
"Former staffers of McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney and Kuzak, including Corbin Bernsen (Arnie Becker), Susan Dey (Grace van Owen), Jill Eikenberry (Ann Kelsey), Michele Greene (Abby Perkins), Harry Hamlin (Michael Kuzak), Alan Rachins (Douglas Brackman, Jr.), Jimmy Smits (Victor Sifuentes), Michael Tucker (Stuart Markowitz), and Blair Underwood (Jonathan Rollins)."

Your staying home is almost as impressive ;) Are you feeling better?
-
Time to head home.
Be back later.

Just heard that Billy Goldenberg passed away. Wonderful man and wonderful composer, who I just recently met when he came to the Group Rep to see either Man Who Came to Dinner or In My Mind's Eye, probably the latter. Yes, the final preview of In My Mind's Eye - I wrote about us meeting and will write a little something in the notes tomorrow.
-
Good evening.
-
I won't confront anyone. I'd never win in a verbal spar. But I now avoid the neighbor who says the virus is a hoax. He told me my doctor was a quack for believing it was real and I should believe him (the neighbor) instead.
-
Listening to the Bruckner 7th and 8th with Jochum, but the SACD version, which is the original three-channel tapes - amazingly amazing. I've been remiss in my SACD listening and these two CDs are single layer - can't be played in a CD player (but anyone with a decent Blu-ray player can play them). Clean and clear as a bell.
-

The Ballroom score is one of my all-time favorites. I guess the story and music just resonate. Plus, I really love the Bergmans' lyrics.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Did you have any better luck with the Fritz Lang duo, BK? I liked Debra Paget's dance routine and the tigers, but the rest of the two movies were not worth much.
-
This Friday on TCM is Lang's Fury.
-
We watched America's Got Talent and the dance program afterward.
-
And now I'm headed off to bed.
-
Vibes, Vixmom. You may want to take another day off, if you can. All the stress in your life lately isn't healthy. And neither are these storms.
-
good night, all.
-
I decided I'll finish the Langs tomorrow night. Now playing: Arthur Rubinstein doing Chopin's first and second piano concerto in glorious three-channel SACD.
-
Sorry I disappeared so abruptly mom called on her cell to tell me her house phone wasn’t working
-
She called the cable company for help but said they just kept telling her to do things and wouldn’t answer her questions so she hung up
-
So I went over and called and immediately was answered by a recording that explained you should go on the website
-
Apparently this recording g was the person who wouldn’t answer her questions
-
I went in the website and followed the directions for unplugging and restarting the modem but the phone didn't come back
-
I was on hold for 42 minutes (my phone has a timer) before my mother said, I don’t even understand why resetting tha5 thing would help, the phone is plugged into the other one,....in the den
-
I went into the den, unplugged the phone from the OTHER modem, plugged it back in and the phone was working
-
Then she said, oh yeah, that’s what usually works, but I thought it might be something different because it was knocked out by the storm
-
As you can tell, since I am currently posting, I am not in jail for matricide
-
Although I believe I would not only have been acquitted by a jury of my peers , but possibly would have been awarded a large cash settlement, or at the very least a medal
-
Then she handed me the pork chop I brought her yesterday and told me to go home and cook it in my air fryer because that sounded good, and bring it back to her
-
Yes I did
-
Then around 9 pm I finally got back home and started to cook our dinner
-
Vixdad was having hamburgers and I planned on a veggie burger
-
But I was feeling particularly carnivorous by then and made myself a burger as well
-
It was particularly nice with the Muenster cheese, sautéed onions and mayo on tg3 fresh brioche roll
-
An$ the fresh corn on the cob was lovely too
-
Well I must get me to work tomorrow so good night
-
Now listening to what will be my final set of the Schumann symphonies - George Szell. Leave it to Szell to have the best set. Wonderful performances in great sound - listening to the CD layer right now, and tomorrow will check out the SACD layer. Szell is simply a great conductor and the Cleveland band is pretty great. So, while I've enjoyed Mahler's take, and Gardiner's lighter version, this is the best of all I've heard.
-
And I don't care WHO knows it.
-
I don't care if WHAT knows it either.
-
And that goes for I DON'T KNOW, as well.
-
What am I, Abbott and Costello all of a sudden?
-
I won't confront anyone. I'd never win in a verbal spar. But I now avoid the neighbor who says the virus is a hoax. He told me my doctor was a quack for believing it was real and I should believe him (the neighbor) instead.

As you can tell, since I am currently posting, I am not in jail for matricide
Sending hugs.

Although I believe I would not only have been acquitted by a jury of my peers , but possibly would have been awarded a large cash settlement, or at the very least a medal
~~~Coping Vibes for Vixmom!!~~~
-
Yes I did
You are a wonderful daughter.
I bought my copy of NOBODY DROWNS IN MINERAL LAKE from you Druxy, I don’t remember if you signed it or not. I really enjoyed it. It was not quite as wonderful as MURDER IN BABYLON. That book was fantastic!
I wonder if elmore lost power this evening?
-
I would like to see how he explains to the kits why they can’t watch Miss Marple.
Then around 9 pm I finally got back home and started to cook our dinner
