Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in and out of sorts, and now it is time for you to post until the out and in of sorts cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SERRY!
-
Commercials have been removed from the TV show for my niece. :)
-
And now, I'm off to bed. Nothing special happening at work...just the usuals.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I lost too much time yesterday trying to reconstruct the Opera browser I managed to destroy. I think I have bookmarked all the important sites I use regularly there.
-
Ann's partner Jen did me a huge favor and assembled a wheeled cart I purchased on Amazon. I asked her to do it for two reasons: I'm really a mechanical moron and I know the cats would lose the parts while I tried to assemble it. Today I'll stock it with the canned goods, pay some bills, work on an orchestration for fun, an d play with the cats.

Annabelle has been quite picky about eating for the past two days. She's turned down all Fancy Feast dishes and only eaten dry food out of my hand. Thatch didn't mind because after he finishes gis meal, he eats Annabelle's and Stella's leftovers. But this morning . . . Missy joined her siblings for some salmon and shrimp and ate all of hers.

Last night, I finished writing the first draft of the 30th play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
It should be available in paperback and on Kindle sometime next month.
And, I think I've already found the right actress to do the audio version.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I probably have a couple of recordings, but I think Barbirolli is a conductor I know almost nothing of.
-
Was there a Jack in the Box on the west side of Fairfax, a block or two north of Johnie's and the May Company, in the early 1970s?
In my first year or so in L.A. I might have tried a cheeseburger at that or another location, and wasn't much impressed. I more or less thought of it as a third-rate chain until the early or mid-1980s. I'd moved to Redondo Beach to work in our office in Torrance, and sometime in that period they were advertising their then-new Breakfast Jacks. I tried one and was blown away by it. I couldn't get enough of those.
At that time the deluxe one was called the Crescent Supreme (they didn't say "croissant" then), with egg, ham, bacon, and I believe three kinds of cheese. It was to die for. It was such a favorite that when I'd been without Jack in the Box while living in Chicago later, the first thing I did on returning to L.A. in late 1986 was to get one of those back in my mouth. It was still to die for.
In all of those years I was only ever at two locations -- Hawthorne Blvd. near PCH in Torrance, and the one in the "Brown Derby" strip mall on Wilshire in the late 80s. And maybe the one near the museum if I'm remembering that right.
-
I regret to say I don't think I ever tried those tacos. That shall be rectified on a future visit to L.A.
-

His recording of Madama Butterfly with Renata Scotto is really brilliant.

DR JRand69, I know you liked the Mörbisch White Horse Inn. Check out the chicken ballet at the beginning of their Countess Maritza!

DR Elmore, are you referring to the Opera browser? If so, do you like it better than Safari or others?
I've had equally weird things happen suddenly. And I don't always place the blame squarely on my own shoulders. I'm good with most software, but I firmly believe there should be safeguards that keep extreme things from happening, which they do all too easily and all too often.

I've never had problems with Opera except for once: I had to move my online banking to Safari because I could no longer log on. It essentially duplicates a lot of my Safari bookmarks so I can browse on one site while I read or work on another.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I fell off the earth yesterday or do it seems.
-
Great photos yesterday, Elmore.
-
Yes, BK, the Fellini set looks amazing. Even though I have half the films already, I am going to have to get that one.
-
Went out for margaritas and tacos last night with some high school/college friends. It was fun. I was socially distant.
Had a very good Baja fish taco with fried cod and an even better corn tamal topped with carnitas and crema.
-
I’m still hungry, I guess.
Wait, I’m always hungry. Never mind.
-
I think Ed Sullivan announced that Dolores Gray was "now starving on Broadway in 'SERRY!'"
-
That chicken ballet was great DR ELMORE....I am downloading the production to put it on DVD.
And oh yes.....their White Horse Inn is still one of my favorite things EVER!!!
-
An excellent interview with Alan Menken about the documentary Howard.

I wish I had Disney+ for a few days.

I always like The SERRY with the fringe on the top.

One more post ...

I always enjoyed Doris Day's signature hit, Que SERRY SERRY.

Wow, that's incredible. Thank you for the heads up on these!

I came out of the bathroom from cleaning the litter and found Annabelle lying in the top shelf of my new cart. When she got bored there and abandoned it, I filled the top[ two selves with canned goods. When I went back to work after breakfast, I found Stella sleeping on the bottom shelf. Perhaps I should purchase another just for the cats?
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings! Five months ago today was the last time we set foot into our nearby Kroger. But who's counting?

No. They only want the you’re using. It’s cat logic.

What is the five-month anniversary gift? And did Kroger give you one?

Just noticed there's a Merry Widow movie playing on TCM. Probably almost over.

I went through a McDonald's drive-thru Sunday morning for my first time in five months.
No medal. No laurel and hearty handshake.

DR CHAS SMITH have you seen that production of THE WHITE HORSE INN?
It is hilarious and the setting is so beautiful.....DR ELMORE either recommended it to me or sent me that DVD.....either way....it is on the top of shelf for viewing now and then.

Speaking of Annabelle, she just threw up on my bedspread, then proceeded to the floor where she threw up in three different locations.
-
AT&T didn't get our check last month!
I guess that's why we should have mail-in voting. :(

No, but I'll seek it out!
It's available from Amazon.co.uk, and there are copies on eBay. They won't show up as White Horse Inn; you have to look for Im Weissen Rossl.
-
Und . . . Eins Zwei Drei! Page 3.
-
Vibes for Annabelle.
-
If AT&T runs their payment department the way they run their internet & phone service this doesn't surprise DR JANE.
It's probably setting in somebody's in box or stuck to another check somewhere.

I admit, I have been pronouncing the name Kamala incorrectly. I also think my way is prettier than CommaLa ;D I love the meaning of her name.
"...name is actually derived from the Sanskrit word for "lotus. The symbolism is that the lotus flower sits on water, but never really gets wet," she explained at a book event at George Washington University. "Its roots are in the mud, meaning it is grounded. One must always know where they come from."

I'm up, I'm up - got up at noon with not quite eight hours of sleep, and had to immediately deal with some tracks and adjusting stuff. Now I'll eat something, and around four I'll go to the mail place.
-
Caesar salad with chicken (Wolfgang Puck via Gelson's) was excellent. Now, more song choosing, then the mail place.
-
Amazon is using this piece of crap company Lasership and a package pof Thatch treats I was supposed to receive yesterday has still not shown u, although they claim it was delivered. This is the third or fourth package now that they've not delivered on time or lost. Petco had top replace $60 worth of cat food/treats last year. Tomorrow when I return from my lab work I shall give Amazon my thoughts.
-
I bought gasoline for the motor car today at $1.999 per gallon.
And Aldi had canned peas.....limit of four cans, so of course I bought all four that were allowed.
I also bought some chicken drumsticks that perhaps I will attempt to fry sooner or later. I haven't had homemade fried chicken since I have lived by myself. We shall see.....
-
At first I thought that said $1,999 per gallon, and I wondered when DR Jrand69 had moved to California.
-
Listening to music. Have chosen all but two songs, and when I choose those, hopefully by end of evening, then it's just waiting on the guest stars.

Every employee who becomes ill, every person who comes in contact with a sick employee who becomes ill, is his responsibility and if anyone dies he should be charged with criminally negligent manslaughter
-
I don’t think I’ll be getting us to page 5
-
Not all on my lonesome
-
They were having a special on thin sliced chicken breasts at the market
-
But one, get one free
-
I managed to find two packages that were identically priced
-
On Monday I made chicken Marsala with one package
-
Tonight we had chicken experiment
-
It turned out surprisingly well
-
I sprinkled both sides of the each slice with Penzeys Sunny Paris seasoning and with sesame seeds.
-
Then I browned them on both sides in a skillet with some butter
-
Then I put them on a warm plate to rest , added chicken stock and peach and white wine vinaigrette to the skillet and reduced it a bit then added a little cornstarch mixed with water to thicken it.
-
Then I popped the chicken into the sauce for a minute before serving
-
Sides were rice pilaf and broccoli
-
How exciting I’ve found page 4
-
Well, you got us to page four!
-
Finished with my viewing. Now listening to Barbirolli - just finished a superb Rubbra fifth symphony and now I'm on Swan Lake and in honor of it I have donned my tutu and am prancing around the home environment like a whirling dervish.
-
Just waiting for affirmation, but I do think all songs are chosen, so that leaves the three guests I've asked and I'm hoping the all respond by the weekend.
-
I ate my second meal o' the day - a little steak (about six ounces), and a baked potato, both good. I'm full now.
-
Very full.
-
Don't know what tomorrow holds in store, food-wise, but I'm certainly thinking about it.
-
I'm thinking about page five, too.
-
I'm thinking where in tarnation IS everyone.
-
Now that I'm finally past the 78s era, the sound of the early mono tape stuff is superb, so that's a pleasure.
-

Guess I had better close them.

I would rather read.

I completely agree! >:(
-
After work, I went shopping.
-
I want to make a pie for my dad's birthday next week.
-
But not just any pie!
-
I saw a YouTube video called 15 of the Most Creative Pie Crust Designs!! Instagram Worthy Desserts by So Yummy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp8_VdlXbiE).
-
And the one that I REALLY want to make is called "Pick Your Flavor Pie!"
-
Here's a screen capture of the pie:
-
If you watch the video, this pie starts right at 6 minutes and 58 seconds.
-
The others are really cool, too (and there are SOOOO many other videos like this on YouTube), but this is the one that looks pretty easy, and you get choices!
-
So, I first went to the Tumwater Fred Meyer and looked around, but couldn't find refrigerated pie crusts.
-
I looked on the Fred Meyer app and it said that they did have something, but evidently, they didn't have any in stock. :P
-
I didn't get any Pillsbury pie crusts because those have fully hydrogenated lard.
-
I'm making this for my whole family and my sister and her daughter will NOT eat anything from a cow, except for some cheeses...but especially not lard!
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
But it wasn't a total bust.
-
I did get a few impulse purchase things. ;)
-
So then, I decided to go to the Lacey Fred Meyer.
-
Maybe, they had the non-lard pie crust in stock.
-
I get there and looked and looked and looked, and even asked the woman in the information booth, but it turns out that they also didn't have it in stock.
-
So, I looked and got a couple of pie fillings for my (potential) Pick Your Flavor Pie.
-
I got peach and cherry.
-
I had already gotten cans of apple and blueberry last week.
-
And then, I decided to look at their shirts.
-
They had one shirt that I liked and didn't already have, and the hanger showed that it was the right size...AND it was 60% off!
-
Score! :D
-
So, since I still need to find a refrigerated pie shell, I decided to go to Haggan's on the west side.
-
It's on my way home, so it shouldn't be much of a detour.
-
I looked around there and THEY didn't have a non-lard pie shell. >:(
-
However, they did have a non-lard roll-out puff pastry.
-
I thought that that might be an acceptable substitute.
-
I bought three of them because if you look at the picture and watch the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp8_VdlXbiE):
-
You can see that this uses a lot of pie shell.
-
It's not just one flat piece of pie dough, it's essentially a whole bunch of mini taco-shaped pies.
-
So hopefully, three packages will be enough.
-
I counted 45 or 46 little pie tacos in the picture, so I would think that I could get 15 rounds of puff pastry from each package without them being too big or too small...hopefully.
-
After I left Haggan's, I decided to drive through Sonic.
-
It's actually right next to Haggan's, so there was no travel time.
-
I also wanted to go to Sonic because I got a gift card for my birthday and I wanted to finally use it.
-
So, I did. :)
-
I only used a little under $10, so I have about $15 left.
-
Then, I came home.
-
And when I got home, I first fed my cat.
-
And then unpacked everything that I bought and put the perishable stuff that I bought into my fridge.
-
6 ! ! ! ! ! !
-
Wow! The entirety of Page 5 is all me!
-
Haven't done that in quite a while.
-
And I don't plan on doing it again, anytime soon!
-
Certainly not now. ;D
-
Anyway, after I unpacked all my refrigerables, I looked at my shirt and discovered that it's not the size that was on the hanger!! :o
-
>:(
-
It's two sizes too small. :P
-
I didn't look at the shirt size before I bought it...I assumed that it would be the same.
-
Dopey me.
-
Now, I'll have to take that back...at least, I didn't actually try it on or take off any of the tags.
-
It was the only one of its kind there, so I can't exchange it, but I will look at Tumwater's Fred Meyer to see if they have that style in stock.
-
I really like it, so I hope they do.
