A Very Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!! :D
Happy, happy birthday, Vixmom! Have a wonderful year!
Tonight they had a big party and appaetntly hired a dj
It didn't stop until 2:45 am
Goodnight George
Full blown allergy attack. Hopefully the pill will kick in soon, but I'm telling you this was partially brought on by the air conditioning - maybe the filter needs changing.
I hated the Dutton A Little Night Music Quad - just awful.
This small Barbirolli box may have the best 78s transfers I've ever heard - they are amazing. And you who produced several of these late 1930s album? Goddard Lieberson, that's who.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR VIXMOM!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birtday, DR vixmom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back from playing my second of two church services.
They had five (5) in the congregation last week, and thirteen this morning. I know how to bring them in!
Happy birthday, Vixmom!
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our dear DR vixmom!
Quite frankly they could have been there for more than a year and we never would have noticed
And the music resumed!
I love my dog (Chester), but I wish he wouldn't wake me up at 5:45 every morning.
We had a nice time at Marianne and Steve’s last night. On their patio overlooking a huge pond they set up 3 tables, one for each couple, with some distance in between. Each table had a sourdough baguette, butter, and some veggies and dip. We wore masks except when sitting at our individual tables.
Last night’s main course was smoked pork ribs that Sharon had been gifted by a client for whom she’d done some writing. They arrived frozen and she didn’t have freezer space, so we stored them for a year or so until she learned that Steve had the know-how to do the cooking. Marianne prepared corn on the cob and salad and I took a chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert.
Sunday afternoon greetings!
First things first:
Happiest of birthdays to DR Vixmom!!!
DR Vixmom,

Hmmm George, I am not sure how typing exorbitant left me with expectorant ;D
And the music resumed!
I doubt you will be friendly with them now. Vibes this was just a special activity and not an example of what is to come.

Vixmom strikes again! (Insert evil laugh here)

We used their dishes, glassware, and cutlery. Marianne said we could bring our own, but she’s a microbiologist and they have a dishwasher, so we figured we’d be OK.
I'm tired of sending e-mails to no response - REALLY tired and about to get irritated with certain folks.
We went to the park this morning and fed the ducks. Well, mostly flung cracked corn at the ground. I'm sure the ducks and pigeons had quite a party after we left.
Hot flashes, eh? I can tell you about hot flashes. I have been having them for the last 15 years. Yes, 15. They are never going to end.

When anyone in my neighborhood throws a loud late night party, I put on my tuxedo, grab a wine glass, and go on over!

I tried to watch LITTLE WOMEN today. First, I was having problems with the dialogue. Granted, I read the book as a child, but it was just too contemporary. Then it was the behavior of the girls--same problem. For me it just wasn't credible. It was contemporary women dressed in period clothing and doing a 21st century version. Is this what was intended? I read and watch period books and movies to glimpse what life may have been like then. I had to turn it off.
Did anyone else have this reaction?

I did both times I saw it. And I can understand that feeling, even though I enjoyed it. Let's face it, there's no perfect film version of Little Women. But this is far from the worst. I think the worst has to be the modern day one with Lea Thompson as Marmee. The Marches aren't poor. They burn candles everywhere. There's nothing to get emotionally invested in. Not even Beth.
I don't think the Katharine Hepburn version was well written. And the TV version with Susan Dey took its time, but it looks hideous, like it was filmed on a budget of $1.50 -- and that went to William Shatner's salary.
Cillaliz, I'm glad you're OK. My friends in Des Moines were without power for a day. Bill had to work from a nearby dentist's office. Laurie couldn't work at all without power. Friends of theirs, who lived out of town, were without power for days.
Happy Birthday DR Vixmom! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
I hope you had a nice birthday, Vixmom!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIXMOM!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to VIXMOM!!
I hope you've been having a wonderful day!
Vixmom asked on FB about the derecho in Iowa. I hadn't thought about checking in about it. It hit central and eastern Iowa from around Des Moines east. It was 30 minutes of over 100 mph winds There is tons and tons of damage. Luckily, it didn't hit my part of the state. We had a storm and we had some strong winds, but not enough to do damage other than a tree limb here or there. It hit the 4 largest cities in Iowa as well as killing over 1/3 the corn crop in the state. It happened Monday and there are still a lot of people without power. It's bad. Feeling very grateful it didn't hit here
Last night when I checked the weather forecast I had been revised downward to low 80s next week instead of high 80s, but I think we got up to 94 today. Much too hot!

By all means change the filter.

Well, they both start with an e. The spellchecker is probably having a lot of allergy problems like the rest of us and had hacking on its mind. (Most spellcheckers are pretty DUMB.)

I watched Bringing Up Baby today on TCM and laughed out loud for most of the film. It struck me as being funnier than any other time I've seen it. I love the movie, but today everything shone brighter than usual.
I think I need this door mat to keep the neighbors safe.

I think I'm going to tuck in with my book for a while.
Neve is NOT trained or protective, and would probably cuddle up to any intruders.

it's a day to listen to Ella Fitzgerald sing Mountain Greenery.

Our two new, improved gas and carbonmonoxide detectors arrived today. They are working correctly making sure we are safe.

I didn't know they said that but I agree.

Now that the Fat Orange slug squatting in the White House is going for voter suppression and destroying the Post Office, I hope there will still be a postbox at the corner tomorrow. They've been removing them from Broadway.

I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep, up at one and dealing with the guest who's being persnickety so I'm gonna cut said guest loose and go for another right now.
I rarely call in favors, but I am for the anniversary show - really simple favors and one person out of ten has gotten back to me.

The news just said there are still 83,000 without power.
97 degrees here today. Warmer for George. I didn’t use the air conditioner at all.
