Well, you've read the notes, the notes did the Limbo, and now it is time for you to post until the Mennonite cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LIMN!
-
Topic of the Day:
Bohemian Rhapsody
Funny Girl
Love & Mercy
Rocket Man
These are what I can think of now. I know that there are others.
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. Annabelle abandoned me, but Thatch stayed most of the night. Stella didn't show up until 5:30 or so.
-
This morning I must step out, a precarious notion these days, and post six bills. I hope for two things: I get there and back in one piece and the mailbox is still there.
-
Speaking of mailboxes, I see on CBS News that Mayor de Blasio - not one of my favorite mayors - is now investigating the mailbox removals.
-
I'm looking forward to tonight's convention broadcast.
-
Beyond my postal jaunt, I b=need to finesse my grocery list and order. Then I work a bit on the A&T book and hopefully my orchestration.

I see on Facebook that my great-nephew and niece, Randy's grandchildren, return to school today in Ohio. I hope they're safe.
-
On the PBS program, Firing Line, Margaret Hoover interviewed Stuart Stevens, a Republican working with The Lincoln Project to help Biden get elected. His new book sounds quite interesting.
-
Good morning.
-
I am skipping my walk this morning. Last night we had the weirdest dust storm. No wind, but the dust was hanging in the air. I don't want to breathe that today.
-
Wae-Ling returns to school today. I am not happy with that.
-
I like to make a pitcher of LIMN ade during the summer months....some folks mix it with iced tea which is okay, too.
Yesterday I watched a video about how to make the State Fair LIMNade which I found most interesting and I may try it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Spent a tossing and turning night with what turned out to be a nasty head cold. Otherwise fine.
-
Good morning, all.

Had a pleasant dream last night that I was living in a new house that I don’t remember actually being in or seeing. I walked onto the front lawn and discovered my 1 percenter friends, Cathy and Frank, lived across the street. So did some other friends. The lawn soon filled up with folks including Mom, whom I wanted to introduce to Cathy. But Cathy wasn’t to be seen. Someone was talking to me for a long time. I think it was a friend from work. He was smoking, but he was downwind so it didn’t bother me. Rather than let me go find Cathy, he decided to help me look for her. That’s all I remember.

Fun story about a seal hitching a ride.
-
I went out on a LIMN for some fried fish. They didn’t appreciate the effort.
-
I enjoyed HARLOW because I like Carroll Baker - but as a bio it was a dud.
Since I watched PEPE last week - last night I watched a 2014 biopic of Catinflas....it was terrible....but I did learn a bit about him.....by reading Wikipedia.

From DR TCB:
Down to 87 degrees tomorrow. The weather people say that was the last 90 degree day of the year.
I hope so. It was much cooler in Chicago where my heart is.
-
I was leery about walking when I stepped out, but I acrually walked better today than I expected. The mailbox was still there, so my payments are mailed. Since I was across the street from the corner bodega, I stopped in and bought some groceries. I was very happy that I could carry them home without falling over.
-
LOL Tom. I think one of the Ivan stories you shared will not be in the Disney film.
-
Wae-Ling returns to school today. I am not happy with that.
:( Did you get to see her as I expect you will definitely not get close for awhile.

I will be video chatting with a friend today who hugged her granddaughter yesterday for the first time since quarantine. She has seen her while social distancing but this was a goodbye hug. The granddaughter is leaving for college and will be living in a dorm. There are restrictions in place and learning will be online, still....

Good morning!

How could I have forgotten The Greatest Showman from my worst list? Or The Great Victor Herbert?
Apparently, using the world great doesn’t even guarantee good.
-
Thanks DR George for noticing that my next post was going to hit a special milestone. I don't know that I would have noticed.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! I may or may not be having a video chat with Rebecca in an hour. I'll be ready, but it's her call to make depending on what's what with her husband this afternoon.
-
I hope it is good news.
-
Thanks DR George for noticing that my next post was going to hit a special milestone. I don't know that I would have noticed.
I never notice my milestones.

The Mennonite restaurants in Florida serve some amazing pies. I could go for a pie right now.
-
Not a slice. A whole pie.
-
I hope it is good news.
I get the impression there's not much good news, but I'm hoping things are at least enough under control that she can take time for a call.
-
Not a slice. A whole pie.
When you were in New York, did you get to the Little Pie Company? It's a good thing they are not close to hand, or I would be in a diabetic coma. Sooooo good!

Not a slice. A whole pie.
How about a little piece? Here's a test pie I made last night. I used puff pastry instead of a pie crust, but it still tasted pretty good! I was able to get a non-lard pie shell at Trader Joe's, but it's frozen and I didn't want to wait a whole day for it to defrost.

I don't notice them all, but when I do, we should celebrate them. ;D

Wouldn't that make you sick? ;D

No. Well, maybe. But no.

Wae-Ling returns to school today. I am not happy with that.

I haven't seen her since March. I left some cloth masks outside the door and texted her.

Am in in a meeting that opened with a coworker talking about her family’s journey through covid, the effects on her young children and the company was there for her the whole time. Powerful.

Yes, it would...the original video where I got the idea actually had five different flavors! They used cherry, apple, blueberry, pumpkin, and strawberry.
-
Since I used puff pastry for this, I didn't have the room for all those so I used only two, but for the final version that I'll make for my dad, I'll use actual pie pastry and have four flavors: apple, cherry, blueberry, and peach (family favorites)...at least, that's the plan. :)

I'm up, I'm up - about seven-and-a-half hours of sleep, I guess. Woke up at 6:45 after three and a half hours of sleep, finally fell back asleep around nine.

Let me straighten this mailbox thing out: They've been removing blue boxes for YEARS now, because of THEFT. If they've stepped it up right now, that was stupid because they should have known where the Internet was going to take it. And they agreed to stop until after the election, although I would encourage NO ONE to use one because of - THEFT. Then there are now all these memes of blue boxes in front of post offices with red locks on them. They neglect to say that these photos were all taken on Sundays or after hours (what else is new) just as they neglect to say that the post office has been locking them since the beginning of the year, also because of - THEFT. Theft of mail from blue boxes is its own pandemic and has nothing to do with voter suppression. The stuff they're actually TRYING to do is real and worrisome, although they seem to be walking back stuff now in lieu of him being asked to testify and word of several impending lawsuits, all of which they'd lose. So, it's best to concentrate and complain about what's real. The blue box thing isn't, much as everyone would like it to be. And what the red-lock people also don't say is that there are thin slots on the other side of the box in which you can still deposit letters - that's TOO thin for the thieves.

Thanks for you opinion, BK. We'll see if you're right about the current goings on. Perhaps you are, but the fact that our Mayor is demanding an explanation over the weekend's events in Manhattan doesn't jive with your opinion. In the early 1990s, several post boxes in my neighborhood were removed. They returned several weeks later with new coats of paint. I don't recall the mayot at that time demanding an explanation for their disappearance. Also, the CBS evening news implies that the statement about upkeep, etc. is something issued by Trump's new postmaster general to cover up the truth. We'll see.

Yes, use family favorites. The peach sounds best to me.

Waiting for some fried seafood for dinner. The place stopped taking phone orders. But it’s busy.

I backed out of a discussion on FB regarding the legality of removing the boxes. My position is that it isn't illegal due to the reasons you mention and that they have been removed in previous years. I will gladly admit to being wrong if someone can prove it. I have seen photos from friends that have had their local boxes removed, even in front of a post office.
I have never seen a locked box before these were all over the news. Thanks for explaining that envelopes can still be mailed on Sundays.
-
That said, we plan to put our ballots in a ballot box this year instead of mailing it back. We know we can trust our mailman to take the mail from the outgoing box in our building but feel insecure over what will happen to it after that.
-
TCB thank you for the birthday greetings last night

I never subtract years from my age, I add a decade instead.
Were I to claim to 53 people would think,”eeeew” but if I say I’m 73 they think, “wow she looks good for her age!”
-
After I learned that Purina was discontinuing Annabelle's favorite dry food, I decided I had better look for something else. I thought I'd try this whitefish-egg recipe, and it arrived this afternoon. Happily, she took eight to it, but I suspect this means Purina will stop making it now.

You've got a huge one coming up, DR Jane!

elmore, it's not an opinion, it's fact. If you really need me to provide you with multiple links showing you that this has been going on for years (the box removals) because of theft, I am more than happy to do so.

Now, this was a day. Our final two guests are confirmed and I'm happy to say that one of them is a legend and I do mean a legend.

One of my friends that posted a photo of the missing collection boxes in front of his post office put up a second photo today. Locals left flowers on the spot along with notes to the USPS workers stating they support them.

Anyone watching the online Democratic National Convention?

I was doing my nightly eye treatment. Keith said the opening was very good.
-
Anyone watching the online Democratic National Convention?
Of course.
-
4our!!
-
And on that note (F-natural), I'm outta here.
Be back later.
-
Had Pasta papa for food. Zoom went well. So stoked about our big guest star, and the house is broiling - I've tried to cool it down twice and it's fine for about thirty minutes. But I just can't have the air on for too long.
-
Have written more than two-thirds of the commentary, so just four songs to go and that will be done, then I'll definitely have to futz and finesse it.
-
Two hours without a post. Someone around here is going to get bitch-slapped from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
Did a Gelson's run for some melon, and then finished the commentary. Put the air on when I left, it was cooler when I got back and is now broiling again.
-
Bruce can you tolerate fans if they aren't blowing directly on you?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Bruce, does the AC dry you out, is that the problem? In cold climates people often use humidifiers because the heated air is overly dry. You could try a poor man's humidifier: a large bowl of water left in the room. It will evaporate gradually, adding moisture to the air.
-
On hot days 84 degrees is the coolest I can get this apartment, even with the AC on high and using a portable fan. Not comfortable.
-
Good night.
-
I don't do well with air of any kind blowing on me. It just does something weird to me. I do have to put on the air for a bit now. I'll try to endured fifteen minutes.
-
It's eighty-three right now.
-
I'm exhausted.
-
I don't do well with air of any kind blowing on me. It just does something weird to me. I do have to put on the air for a bit now. I'll try to endured fifteen minutes.
But what if you blow the air away from you? It should still cool down the room. I also don't like fans directly on me.
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Really?
-
Where is everybody?
-
The heck with everybody, where is vixmom?
-
Boy, we need to get going.
-
I have nothing to say.
-
That has never stopped me.
-
I have a friend who I used to work with, named June. I was always calling her June Bug. Now she even uses June Bug as her web address.
-
That's cute.

The other day there was a cat online named June Bug. I thought it might be a sign, but June Bug was adopted before I could get down there.

I don't mind fans blowing on me, as long as it's not a strong breeze...unless it's very hot out and the fan cools me down.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Hello, George.
-
I have a friend who I used to work with, named June. I was always calling her June Bug. Now she even uses June Bug as her web address.
That's pretty cool. Back in the 1990s, I did a musical revue and we had a couple of selections from Oklahoma!, which has a "June bug" reference in one of the songs.
-
The woman singing the lead accidentally said "Jume bug" and we all busted up laughing! That became a running gag during that rehearsal. Fortunately, she did NOT sing "Jume bug" during any performance. ;)
-
There is a cute little cat at the Humane Society named Sunday. Unfortunately, Sunday is 15 years old. I just couldn’t bring myself to adopt a cat that old.
-
When I lose a kitty it just about kills me. I couldn’t start off with one that old.
-
That's definitely something to consider.
-
Sunday is also a longhair cat, which is a real no-no for me.
-
I am afraid that no one will adopt Sunday, because of her age.
-
The other day there was a cat online named June Bug. I thought it might be a sign, but June Bug was adopted before I could get down there.
I can see the temptation.
-
I am afraid that no one will adopt Sunday, because of her age.
:(
-
I wouldn't mind an older cat (Neve was probably 16 when I got her), but I won't get another cat as long as I have Neve.
-
When I lose a kitty it just about kills me. I couldn’t start off with one that old.
About killing you is a good description. :(
-
The other day there was a cat online named June Bug. I thought it might be a sign, but June Bug was adopted before I could get down there.
I can see the temptation.
I thought you went to bed.
-
Did anyone else watch Michelle Obama? What a class act.
-

Is there a short-haired breed you are fond of? If so you might see if they have a local rescue group.

I saw part of her speech. Class act is right!
-

I am in bed but haven't suceeded in falling asleep.

Yup, and it happens more often than not.

'night
-
Good night, Jane.
-
Good night, Jane.
-
And good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
