Well, you've read the notes, the notes spent a day at the Scenie Awards, and now it is time for you to post until the award-winning cows come home.

Last night I kept switching between CNN and New York PBS for the convention, and I'm quite angry: I never saw Hillary's or Gaby Giffords' appearances.  Instead I got a lot of commentators, and it really pisses me off.  What is it with these stations?  I wept when President Obama spoke.  I miss him.

Since my doctor moved my appointment today to Sept. 4, I have no reason to leave the apartment.  I should have a package to bring up from the lobby, and I will do that when I dump the dirty litter.

I do have another one.  I was put in charge of driving a pick up truck full of firewood from the purchase place to home.

I did not realize that having a ton or so of payload made it more difficult to stop your vehicle.  I found out.  Fortunately no one was in front of me at the stop light.

Jolly good, DR Jrand69!  That has happened to me, too, but I don't remember why or what I was driving. A wonderful lesson, though.

I hereby announce my auspicious re-entry into the world of ... wait, what was it called?  Oh, live performance!

The beautiful Warner Theatre (where a couple of vixwomen came to see Ragtime) is presenting a one-night revival of its 2015 production of Assassins with most of their original cast. My friend Dan will be MD'ing again and I will be playing again, but we won't have the full orchestra this time, just 2 keys, bass, and drums.

It's a benefit for the theatre which sorely needs a benefit, and no one gets paid. The real kicker is the venue -- one of the remaining drive-in theaters in that area.

Here's their blurb on the presentation:

We are excited to announce a special fundraiser performance for ONE NIGHT ONLY at the Pleasant Valley Drive-In on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 (rain date September 30th).

We are bringing back our acclaimed 2015 Nancy Marine Studio Theater production of Stephen Sondheim's ASSASSINS in a re-imagined, socially distant "car show" performance!

This encore presentation is directed by Katherine Ray with music director Dan Koch and features Warner stage alumni Matt Cornish, Ian Diedrich, Adam Fancher, John Farias, Michelle Funaro, Joe Harding, Tony Leone, Lyn Nagel, Josh Newey, Keith Paul, Steffon Sampson, Juliette Koch, Trevor Rinaldi, Noel Roberge, Jonathan Ross and Priscilla Squiers.

Tickets for this special event will go on sale next Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 10:00AM. Spaces are limited! Only 175 cars will be admitted (including 20 VIP spots) - $100 per car with up to five passengers general admission or $250 per car with up to five passenger VIP.

ASSASSINS is presented through special arrangement with MUSIC THEATER INTERNATIONAL (MTI).

Another TRUCK story - I left home at 4:30 a.m. in the dark to drive to work in a pick up truck.

When I got to work twenty minutes later - the camper shell on the back of the truck was nowhere to be seen.

I called home and a drive was taken along the route, but the shell was never found.  I though maybe it had been stolen in the night and I didn't notice in the dark.....but I can't remember.....

Thursday afternoon greetings!  Sorry to have been E & T yesterday.  While I was putting the finishing touches on the dessert we took to Richard's brother's for dinner, I had a brainstorm for a paper-craft item to take to my sister-in-law.  I finished that just in time to spruce myself up before we had to leave for Cincinnati.  We had a delightful, socially-distant dinner on their beautiful deck and listened to Barack Obama and Kamala Harris on the car radio on the way home.

Yes, the goodbyes are devastating. But don't forget the years of joy you have before that.

I know but I have been saying no more for years.  After our dog Belle died I said no more after the cats are gone and then we got Echo.  Ten years later I said no more after Echo & Bogie, the last of the cats, died I said no more.  After Sherlock at 5 years old I truly am broken.

I also have sooo many injuries from these pets, especially all the broken bones which are dog related  ::)

You could set your clock to the time it takes for that Fat Orange Slug to distance himself from a close associate once they're arrested.  Tramp is doing his "I never knew the coffee boy well" act now that Bannon's arrested for fraud, but as he tells us, Tramp only hires the bestest people.

Our heat wave continues. We're told day after day that it's breaking and the temps will drip to the low 80s, then we have another 90+ day. As if everyone isn't already stressed as it is, we now have the heat to deal with. Arrrggghhh!

Glad that BK's new AC filter is helping.

I had a similar problem several years ago with my AC. It just wasn't doing the job anymore. Someone asked me if I'd cleaned the filter. I didn't know that window units have filters. It's hidden and you wouldn't see it unless you really looked for it. But I had the owner's manual and that showed a diagram. I cleaned it and it was indeed better.

Wow!  Biden gave an incredible speech!  I can't wait to see what Trump comes up with...there's definitely no way that it'll be as good or as intelligent. ::)

I just listened to the most wonderful music:

Rain!

Our first rain of the summer. It has probably been four or five months since we've had rain.

I enjoyed it. Again Chris Christie embarrassed himself by opening his fat, vacuous mouth.

Let me recommend this wonderful box set - Henry Mancini The Classic Soundtrack Collection.  If you search that exact title on Amazon you can't find this release - isn't that insane?  It was only searching that exact title via Google that brought up the Amazon listing.  All these classic albums have been newly remastered and they've never sounded better AND the first release ever on CD for Me, Natalie, which I love, and Someone Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe, plus first US CD releases of Gunn and Oklahoma Crude.
