Well, you've read da notes, da notes didn't mess with da requiem, and now it is time for you to post until da cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LEGERITY!
-
Oh, STABAT Mater. What does that mean exactly - Stab the Mother? Is this where Psycho came from?

I have no idea what ANY of it means. I just know (knew?) how to pronounce it when (if) I sing (sang) it. I'd been in choirs from seventh grade all the way through five years of college. No Latin singing since, but it's very easy to remember how to pronounce it.
-
And a Happy Birthday to (former) DR Ron Pulliam!
-
Well, this is really cool! I don't know how long it'll last, or if it'll be archived once the live feed is over, but here's a LIVE Astronaut Spacewalk from the International Space Station (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg7FweYjasE)! :D
-
Good morning, all!
-
I awoke to a flurry of monotonous emails and false allegations from an irritating person. As other victims on his poison pen list know, it does no good to block him; he just changes email addresses.
-
This morning at 10 I'm getting my first hair cut since God knows when. I hope they don't charge me for two.
-
BK, Stabat Mater means "the mother stands," and it's a part of the Easter tradition of Jesus' mother standing beneath the cross and watching him die for all our sins, a concept I still don't understand. A lot of composers set the Latin text to music: Pergolesi, Haydn, Dvorak. Scarlatti, Pärt, Macmillan, Poulenc . . .
-
After seeing my barber, I will wheel my walker home and maybe work for a bit on the orchestration I'm doing to keep my mind working.
-
First, kitty cleanuo, then a bath.

Bear Manor Media has just published my book, "MERV: The Final Chapter," the 3rd edition and last update of my Merv Griffin biography, originally published in 1976.
Working on this book with Merv Griffin was a pleasure. He was so pleased with the final result that he had me as a guest on his talk show.

Let me toot my own horn again. And again. And again . . .
-
DR Jeanne, have you seen this "Miss Fisher" spinoff? I don't think it's hit the NYC PBS stations yet.
-
Good morning!

Good morning, all.

Yesterday I had the worst allergy day than I’ve had in a long time. I actually thought it was another head cold like the one a few weeks ago, so I popped a DayQuil for some relief, and it did absolutely nothing. Later in the day, I realized that the characteristics were really those of allergies, and I decided to wait it out till evening and then take a Benadryl to sleep on. Well, that proved to be the perfect thing. I had a solid sleep and woke up feeling rested and, more important, dry. :)
Now I’m thinking that the previous head cold was the same damned thing. It lasted longer, but I believe I didn’t do the right things for it. It’s not the first time I’ve been fooled by this. Summer allergy attacks can be wicked, and thinking back, August is my month for it.
-
Good morning to everyone
-
I’m enjoying BK’s journey through the Verdi Requiems.
The Reiner will be interesting because it’s with Vienna, not Chicago, and the recording engineers are probably the RCA British/European ones. I look forward to hearing how that and the Leinsdorf RCA teams do with recording it in comparison with the Columbia.
-
I was struggling to stay awake last night then happily lost the battle.
-
TCB, I meant my plan was not to get the flu this season. I do plan to get the shot later this month.
-
I am home from the new barber, and I am very happy with the experience. I am even happier to lose all that hair.
-
One of my favorite Sherman Bros. songs in LEGERITY!
-
I am watching the space walk. Thanks for the link DR GEORGE.
Very entertaining and interesting!
-
I had a couple of shirts like that DR GEORGE and I always just figured it was somebody's first day at the fabric loading machine.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Do you think She of the Evil Eye has a nickname for you? What do you think it is?
-
I know what you mean DR ELMORE.
I just said, cut it as short as possible. It will grow back. I sort of look like a Yul Brynner with a four-day growth.....I can live with that.
-
Like DR JANE I have a some prescriptions to pick up.
I shall do that tomorrow, and stop by Pet Supplies Plus to buy some food for Birdy Barnum.
I am also looking for something to help his beak. He has lost interest in his cuttlebone, and it has overgrown a bit.
-
DR TCB my question about a cat being comfortable with your wheelchair wasn't about Sandy the cat, just about any cat you might consider getting.
I never really thought about it until I recently saw a sweet story about a boy in a wheelchair and his cat. The family wanted to find a cat that wasn't skittish about the chair and this cat immediately jumped into the boy's lap and now follows him everywhere.

I told him to cut it short, and I think he could have done so. I'm not complaining; it looks good.

Honestly, this day feels like the proverbial new lease on life, what with the good sleep and the drying up. I just enjoyed a celebratory late breakfast of four (4) slices of toast, using up three kinds of bread and three kinds of preserves and marmalade.
-
More coffee!
-
DR Elmore, thank you for the Peter Grimes link yesterday. I've bookmarked it to be watched when the time is right.
-
Tonight is Nixon in China. I should give this one a chance. I've seen bits and pieces, and while they didn't thrill me (because the music isn't in a language that I'm attuned to), I think I could probably enjoy a straight through viewing. But if not this time, then some other time.

Love that score.

Good afternoon, all.
-
Bad day of dealing with AT&T. Internet, phone and TV out for about 90 minutes.
-
Listening to tge real Frank Abagnale of Catch Me if You Can. Fascinating speaker.
-
He's totally fascinating. What exactly are you listening to?

Wonderful :)
-

A banking seminar for work. He works for tge FBI and was largely talking about security.

To former DR Ron.

I have THIS (https://www.amazon.com/Adams-Nixon-China-John/dp/B000005IYW/) CD of the opera. I don't think I've listened to it since I got it, though. ::)

I know not everyone does, but I really like the Broadway cast recording. I saw it in Seattle during the pre-Broadway run. :)

Someone posted the complete video broadcast of Nixon in China (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEs5cKgHk_0). It's conducted by John Adams, himself.
-
And HERE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_kVc8mrElg) is the complete cast recording.

It's good to hear he's still active in all of that.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Do you think She of the Evil Eye has a nickname for you? What do you think it is?
I'm sure she does - perhaps, He of the Leaving House.
-
I'm up, I'm up eight hours of sleep - didn't get to sleep until around five.

Full moon in Pisces!
It’s the start of a new month, and there’s a full moon in caring and creative Pisces. Now is the time when you feel real sympathy for your fellow human beings and can dream up some excellent ways to help the world. Your imagination is brimming over with ideas for all the great things you will do one day, giving you hope that some truly amazing things are ahead.
At the same time, the sun is in practical Virgo, so you aren’t running purely on emotion. The rational Virgo sun provides you with enough of a logical perspective that you can avoid going too far overboard with your emotions—and it also provides you with a solid foundation to build your hopes and dreams on.

The new Facebook takes longer to load and it won't load ALL of the replies in a thread when I click.....
It also won't let me navigate to another website.....I have to close it and then open a new browser page to go to another site.....
-
Darn. If you click to change it back I believe there is an option for complaints or suggestions.
-
My scripts have finally been filled. I'll wait until tomorrow morning to pick them up.
-
Fred Meyer usually sends a text with the cost of the script that is ready to pick up. When I called earlier to inquire on the status of my prescriptions two of the three had been filled. The person on the phone didn't know why I hadn't received texts on the two except that they have a new system as of today.
-
Later I did receive a text, but only one text for all three scripts. It directed me to the Kroger website to find the costs.
-
After a bit of a hassle our account is updated and I can see my prescription history. It took me awhile to find my new prescriptions as they were hidden in "refills" :o
-
If anyone uses a Kroger pharmacy you have been warned ;)
-
Oh, and today I learned that if the answer to a security question is "Los Angeles", it is too common to be acceptable ;D
-
Oh believe me DR JANE - I have complained through official channels.
-

I never saw the movie. I only saw the musical. And I liked a few of the songs.
-

I have Kaiser and get all my medications sent through the mail.

Good luck. Keith changes it back too quickly for me to notice problems.

Even new medications?
The site updated and now I can quickly see what is pending.

I haven't gotten a new prescription since I started getting my medications mailed, so maybe if got a new one, I'd get the first one in person, then through the mail. Just a guess.

My first attempt to make two burgers was a fail - I cooked and cooked and cooked the meat, put it on the bun with all my condiments, bit into it and the entire inside was practically raw. I threw those two out and made two more and those came out fine. That's only 680 calories for the pair, so I can have a few peanuts.
-
Had a lot of Kritzerland show stuff to do but got it all done.

That's too bad about the first two burgers. I have some frozen fully-cooked hamburger patties that I just heat up in the microwave, and they're really good. :)
-
And now, I'm off. I want to do a little shopping, then I'll head home.
Be back later.
-
Forgot to plug in my iPad so I’m at 2% power
-
Hello and goodbye
-
Vibes for whoever needs them
-
Going to go get some juice into this thing
-
Must take a drive - haven't been out all day and evening. And things got busy again in the last hour.
-
I am pleased that our local police have declined the recent request from Portland to help out. I feel bad for Portland and just wish everyone would go home.
-
I'm really unhappy about this page three malarkey. It has literally been a week of this stuff. Where IS everybody? Is the pandemic done? Are we all out and about, going to movies and theater and restaurants. I mean, we're forty minutes away from new notes and still on page three.
-
If only the pandemic was over.
-
The book I am reading begins with the Philadelphia war bond parade in 1918.
-
Yup, the one that should have been canceled due to the Spanish flu.
-
'night.
-
Well since there is a pandemic going on nobody has much news
-
We’re not in shows
-
Good evening.
-
Barely pagefour??
-
At 11:30?
-
We’re not working on shows
-
We’re not going to shows
-
I am not feeling very good this evening.
-
Or anywhere else for that matter
-
It’s hard to come up with stuff to talk about
-
Gratuitous Post #101! ;D
-
It is nothing serious.
-
Hi, Vixmom.
-
Just old age, I imagine.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
I am not feeling very good this evening.
:(
-
It is nothing serious.
That's good.
-
You young folks just don’t understand.
-
Speaking of not understanding......
-
Hi Tom
-
Hi George
-
I’m sorry you’re feelin* poorly TCB
-
.....I don’t understand what has happened to our posting.
-
You young folks just don’t understand.
Yeah we young whippersnappers
-
I would agree with vixmom, but the pandemic has been going on for six months.
-
Hi, George.
-
Hi, vixmom.
-
We must keep going.
-
One more post.
-
I made friends about a year ago with a young guy who was also a fan of a band I had been going to see play in small clubs down in the East Village
-
Obviously I realized I was a great deal older than him
-
Obviously I realized I was a great deal older than him
Three years? Maybe four?
-
But it still came as a bit if a shock today when he mentioned it was his Grandmas 62nd Birthday
-
Tonight after a little shopping at Costco (I can't even remember what I got :o ), I came home and fed my cat, then read a couple of chapters in my book.
-
I’m a year older than his Grandmother!
-
Talk about feeling old!
-
Why am I watching Colbert reruns?
-
Why am I watching Colbert reruns?
I can’t help you there
-
I guess because it is summer.
-
Talk about feeling old!
On a "dating" ::) app, I chatted with a guy who is 30, count 'em, 30 years younger than me! He likes older (and larger) men!
;)
-
But we did at least make it to page five
-

I’m 44 years older than this kid
-
After reading for a while, I went upstairs to my TV room and watched the ABC interview with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris from last night.

Yeah, but you weren't "dating" him. ;)
-
But it still came as a bit if a shock today when he mentioned it was his Grandmas 62nd Birthday
Oh no!🥺
-
The ABC inteview was quite informative and very well done.
-
Then, I watched another political show from Sunday and that was very informative, also. I was able to delete both programs from my DVR.

True

From last night?
-
I think maybe I’m the grandma he wanted to have
-
So, my newer tablet that was having problems connecting to my wi-fi for the last couple of weeks, all of a sudden tonight had absolutely no trouble connecting to my wi-fi! It has a strong signal and it's MY wi-fi, not the open, non-passworded xfinity wi-fi! I don't know what happened between a couple of weeks ago and now, but I'm very happy! :D

Yup.

His isn’t exactly accepting of his “lifestyle choices” as she puts it
-
I think maybe I’m the grandma he wanted to have
That is possible...and would be very nice. :)
-
I must go take my pills.
-
It’s 2:49 am
-
His isn’t exactly accepting of his “lifestyle choices” as she puts it
You can't choose the family that you're born into, but you can choose to make your own family.
-
Good night, vixmom.
-
My alarm goes off at 7:30 am
-
Good night Jane.
-
I should probably get some sleep
-
Oh looks page 6
-
Good night TCB, feel better

Good night, George.

I survived the fire alarm tests. And what a cutie that came to check my systems!!
-
Good night, Tom.

Nice!

I gotta tell you, if it weren't for you lovely late-night denizens we'd still be on page three.
