Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the music of the night, and now it is time for you to post until the night cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PLAUDIT!
-
Today, I have no plans except to do some laundry. I do have the last season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to watch. I should probably start to watch those and delete them from my DVR.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think this current problem is not a part of the arthritic joint replacement issues after all; I think it's a part of the tsuris created by the two crushed lower discs in my spine. I think my trip up the Big Ladder on Thursday was the catalyst. The same thing happened a couple of years ago.
-
DR TCB, yes, in both Liliom and its musicalization Carousel Billy dies by suicide. The only real difference between the two is that the final scene of Liliom has no "happy" ending for Liliom, Marie, or their daughter; he's dragged off to Purgatory, as I recall.
-
Stella left me another mess to clean up this morning, so I must deal with that. After I make the bed and take the recyclables to the basement, I plan to lie down and stay there until it's time to feed the cats.
-
DR George, the broken bulb was incandescent.
-
Good morning, all.

I am happy to be up and out of two weird dreams, one having to do with finding myself in a restaurant for the first time since March. It seemed to be in TriBeCa, where a few restaurant-y dreams over the years have been set for no apparent reason. The second was another of my abstract concoctions involving links to a few recordings of music and some other stuff, I think films or TV shows, but the main piece of music was the Mahler Sixth. In the first dream I was having a reunion with a few friends, including a gal I haven’t seen in nearly twenty years who had in real life been a medical examiner but in the dream was now working in this restaurant. In the second, the “links” to these musical/movie things were being provided by one of NYC’s still-current (I think) medical examiners who used to be the boyfriend of the gal in the first dream. In real life I had bought (for a pittance) his collection of laserdiscs back in the early 2000s.

Loved the Verdi Requiem reports in the notes.

So, Labor Day. I’m going to labor by mowing a few weeds this morning, then just enjoy the rest of the day. We’ll be grilling our hamburgers later this afternoon.
Have I mentioned for the benefit of our Southern California denizens that our weather is perfect, with clear days and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s? :)
(Don’t get up, I’ll show myself out.)

Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Cooling vibes for California.
-
I slept a good 9 hours.
-
I like holidays and being able to do that.
-
I'm moving so slowly. Kitty cleanup, getting the recyclables to the basement with a walker, and cleaning up Stella's mess took me an hour. I've had my breakfast and my meds, but I still haven't made up the bed, so that's next.
-
Once I make my bed, I plan to lie in it until I feel like moving.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Thanks for reminding me DR TCB.....I will change the time of my YouTube Show to 9 p.m. Eastern Time....
It's always nice to have choices.
-
Good morning.
-
I hope you get to feeling better, Elmore.
-
I don't know much from steaks......Ponderosa and Bonanza were treats for us as I was growing up and beyond.....
Usually I would have a T-bone......now and then there was the grilled steak.....but I don't remember that I liked one over another...or any one that was outstanding.....
I guess I'm depraved on accounta I'm deprived.....steak wise.
-
Our temps are 70's & 80's as well.....I haven't used the air much the last couple of days which will look nice on my bill later this month.
-
Today is my wedding anniversary. Maybe we will splurge and get some takeout. All I have defrosting is ground beef. Yawn.
-
To the California residents -- welcome to Arizona.
-
I keep checking for a kitty photo from TCB. I hope he feels well enough soon to provide one for us.
-
More vibes for DR Elmore!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did anyone (DR John G.?) watch "The Gershwins'" Porgy and Bess over the weekend? I'm afraid I only got through the first half, and that was in three sittings. Shame on me. I was trying to get in too many other things on Saturday and Sunday, including some lazy TV watching.
As usual, I was put off by some of the cuts. For instance, they completely cut Archdale and the "Buzzard Song".
Porgy's promotion from goat cart to a leg brace and crutch sort of worked okay, but... but... but...
-
I was going to have my hamburger(s) Hamlet #11-style this afternoon, but this morning I remembered there's no bacon in the house, and I'm absolutely not going out for anything today. That's okay. I'm still going to experiment with these by having one with Russian and one with Thousand, and we'll see what verdict the jury comes back with.
I think DR Jane said she never liked Russian as much, and I generally agree with that. I enjoy Russian on sandwiches just fine, but a good Thousand is just so much more delicious. Hell, I can eat it out of the bottle.
It's funny, though. Maybe it's because back in the early 1970s I was confused as to what Russian really was -- but in my mind's eye, I clearly see those hamburgers as having Thousand on them. The difference in color, at least in the bottled ones I know now, is really distinctive.
-
The reason for my confusion was having had and enjoyed a bottled Russian dressing before I moved out there, that was more red in color with a distinctively different flavor and consistency. So, I had this idea about Russian dressing that didn't match the Hamburger Hamlet's at all. I need to find one like that and put it up against the ones I know now, and see what's what.
-
Oh well. Enough about me and my damned dressings.

Labor Day afternoon greetings! Charlotte and her parents left a couple of hours ago and now our house is too, too quiet :'(
We did have a wonderful 5 days, though. Their visit was very much under the radar - we even hid their car in the garage. The only time they left the house was to walk to Sunset Park on Saturday. Richard left a couple of times to pick up take-out and he and I left together to pick up a grocery order on Friday. Charlotte is such a good baby and Rob and Mary Linda seem as at ease with her as any first-time parents can be.
-
September 7 was not a holiday in 1985, but it was my own personal Labor Day - happy 35th birthday to Rob!
-
Does it seem like just yesterday, DR Ginny? :D
-
Mowing is done.
-
Happy anniversary DR LAURA.
-
Happy Birthday to ROB!
-
So glad you had such a nice visit DR GINNY!
-
Windows are open, now and then a nice breeze kicks up, and the house feels great.
-
It should be like this ALL YEAR.

Cooling vibes for California.
DITTO!

Lucky you. Our temps have gone back up with only a high of 90 expected today. I say only compared to California.

DR Laura do splurge for dinner. Our big anniversary treat was pizza.

I never said "as much", only the part about not liking Russian dressing ;)
Stats hamburgers had Thousand Island on them? Did you ever eat there? I don't recall what year they closed.
I don't remember Russian dressing on the Hamlet burgers, but then why would I when I would have either asked for, or just made my own Thousand Island on them.
-
DR Chas, you do remember correctly about the Russian dressing.

There garlic bread was good.

Happy anniversary DR LAURA.
Ditto!

This menu has my two favorite items, chocolate milkshake and the triple layer chocolate cake.

It should be like this ALL YEAR.
Wouldn't it be loverly?
-
The last time I got a chocolate milkshake, or how I miss their milkshakes, they wused Haagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream and it was the best shake I ever had.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
In a little while, I'll write the two cast things for the day.

Thank you, all. He just went to get Chinese food. It will be our first since the shutdown began.
-
Last year we had the family come for a celebration dinner. But that was an anniversary that ended with a "0."
-
I expect you will enjoy it very much. It was a big treat the two times we did take out, our anniversary and again for Keith's birthday.
-
Last year we had the family come for a celebration dinner. But that was an anniversary that ended with a "0."
I am very glad there wasn't a pandemic for our major "0" anniversary and birthdays.
-
We have a high winds warning beginning around 5:00 and lasting until mid day tomorrow.
-

That sounds yummy, DR Laura. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary, DR Laura!
We celebrated Rob and Mary Linda’s 9th anniversary last Friday with a pizza party.

Yum.

New cast stories are up.
-
It was supposed to be 98 degrees today, but it's 90, so that's a bit of relief.
-
I think I still have 2:20 in which to watch Thomas Ades’ The Tempest from The Met. The overture, with Ariel like a Cirque de Soleil performer writhing over the waters, was visually impressive.

I think you can get in and start it right up to about 6:30 eastern. You don’t have to be *finished* by then, just get it started.
-
I’ll have to catch that one another time.
-
I’ll have to catch that one another time.
It’s amazing. Ariel’s voice is like an octave above normal, like something that would hurt a dog’s ear. When she started bow wowing at the end of the first scene, it was hilarious and otherworldly.
-
Decided on three beef tacos from Casa Vega, called the order in, ten minutes later picked it up, two minutes later was back home eating it - fantastic, as always, and 750 calories in all. They did give some chips and salsa so I can do a couple hundred calories of that later for a little snack.
-
I'll finish up the cast stories on Wednesday - and will do a Doug Haverty story as well that day. Then on Thursday, prior to our test, I'll give a shout out to as many Kritzerland performers as I can remember.
-
Been a relaxing day thus far. Just the way I wanted it.
-
Listening to Ruth Gipps' fifth symphony - terrible live recording, but that's all there is.
-
But then I have the second and fourth symphonies to hear and those are professional recordings that are wonderfully done.

And you got your drive for the day accomplished ;)
-
It got to 81 degrees inside the house - so I had to turn the air on about 4 p.m.
I will let it run for awhile.....still 80 degrees outside.

I think I ate at a Stats (were there more than one?) in ‘75 or ‘76. I’m thinking somewhere on Wilshire Blvd., but can’t quite bring it into focus.

I ended up going back to sleep last night after my last post and slept until 10 am
Fantastic.

Today I spent the day trying to find a new microwave cart
-
After visiting Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, HomeGoods, Target, The Christmas Tree Shop, Costco, CVS and BJs I had a new kettle, a box of donut shop decaf Keurig pods, a sleeve of onion bagels, a prescription for Vixdad, a nice conversation with a young man who allowed me to take a picture of his Model A auto, and aforementioned picture
-
But no microwave cart
-
The one we have now was purchased in February 1987
-
But it is in need of replacement
-
So I ended up ordering one from Amazon
-
It’s supposed to be here tomorrow
-
But no microwave cart
I didn't even know there was such a thing.
-
I hope you are pleased with your knew cart.

Yes, my Stat's (and Jane's) was on Pico west of Robertson a few blocks. The Stat's you ate at was there until the mid-1980s on Wilshire just west of San Vicente and just down the street from the Wilshire Theater in a little strip mall. My go-to meal at Stat's was their weird cheeseburger, where the cheese was melted INSIDE the burger and burst forth when you cut into it. Loved that.

Finished The Big Heat but even though our big heat has abated somewhat it still feels too darn hot.

Nice cart. Will you set the microwave on top? Earlier when I searched microwave carts I saw some with cutout areas for the microwave though they did not look as nice as this one.

Soooo good. You forgot to mention the rye bread and thousand island dressing ;)

The wind speed is currently 22 miles an hour and it is very smokey outside. I suspect I might want to wear my mask when walking tomorrow morning.

Yes, just set on top
-
That seems more convenient then set inside of a shelf down lower on the cart.
-
The wind is up to 36 miles an hour. I am curious what the top speed will be.

There is a $177 shipping fee to get it to Canada. :)
-
Then I doubt you will be buying one ;)

Hello, everyone.
-
I've been busy all day doing laundry, paying bills, and taking care of odds and ends. Such as why didn't the USPS deliver my book on Saturday. They say they attempted delivery. I don't believe them; I was here all day. They apparently want me to pick it up somewhere, but failed to leave one of those little notice slips or tell me WHERE. The book came from the UK. It managed to come all this way and yet the USPS can't seem to complete the journey. Ugh! I have a couple more things to do before Wednesday's surgery.
-
Nice cart, Vixmom. You are a true shopper. I would have checked Amazon first, then only gone in-store shopping if I absolutely had to.
-
Happy Anniversary to DR Laura and Hubby.
-
Happy Birthday to Rob.
-
TTFN.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
73 degrees outside. Maybe I'll take a little drive over to Gelson's and see what's what for food tomorrow.
-
Oh, George, sorry. You asked which face masks I ordered. I'd planned to order two, but couldn't decide, so I ordered three.
Monstera Orchid
Crack Hibiscus
Navy Love Shake
As for the discount, one must read carefully. It says up to 20% off. It's 10% off if you buy 4 masks, then a higher discount if you purchase more. There's a discount on some of the shirts, too. I was only interested in masks.
-
Back from Gelson's - got an 8 oz top sirloin steak to broil tomorrow, and I'll sauté up some mushrooms and onions with it, and then do a salad, which should all add up to under 1000 calories. And then Wednesday, perhaps tuna sandwiches. I ate some chips and salsa - very good. And now, I think I'll make some Good Seasons Eyetalian dressing for tomorrow's salad.

Darn. I am guessing it was a substitute delivery person. Sometimes we had that problem in Ashland but never here. I hope you get your book delivered.

WEDNESDAY SURGERY VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!

I think this current problem is not a part of the arthritic joint replacement issues after all; I think it's a part of the tsuris created by the two crushed lower discs in my spine. I think my trip up the Big Ladder on Thursday was the catalyst. The same thing happened a couple of years ago.
Feel better vibes to DR elmore.

PAGE FIVE DANCE!!

Today, I have no plans except to do some laundry. I do have the last season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to watch. I should probably start to watch those and delete them from my DVR.
Well, I did some laundry, but didn't watch any recorded shows...just a couple of hours of MSNBC.

DR George, the broken bulb was incandescent.

I realized last night, in a dream I don’t remember, that I am able to walk in all my dreams. I suppose that makes sense in the dreams where I am back working at a former employer; but last night was a current dream.

I made myself a hamburger today. I just had mayo, ketchup and dill relish, but it was pretty darned good.

Today is my wedding anniversary. Maybe we will splurge and get some takeout. All I have defrosting is ground beef. Yawn.
Happy Anniversary!

Hi, Tom.

Once I make my bed, I plan to lie in it until I feel like moving.
I washed all my blankets and sheets today! It'd been a little too long since I had done that. ::)

A Very Happy Anniversary to Laura!!

I keep checking for a kitty photo from TCB. I hope he feels well enough soon to provide one for us.
Well, don’t hold your breath. I am in the midst of having my pre-approval application approved so I will be allowed to see a few cats selected by them. They only allow people to attend the meetings on Wednesday or Sunday.
-

What is the difference between the two. Doesn’t Russian dressing contain Caviar?

Ginny, glad you had such a wonderful visit. Couldn’t you have done just as well on Zoom?

I have two.

I realized last night, in a dream I don’t remember, that I am able to walk in all my dreams. I suppose that makes sense in the dreams where I am back working at a former employer; but last night was a current dream.
It makes sense to me.

Interesting. Are they picking cats they believe will be a good match for you?
