Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unsuspecting, and now it is time for you to post until the unsuspecting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DODDLE!
-
Topic of the Day:
Glenn Ford:
The Courtship of Eddie's Father
Superman
Gloria Grahame:
It's a Wonderful Life
Oklahoma!
-
Today, it's back to work...of course. But right now, I'm going to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, but I had truly weird dreams, of which I remember very little. I did wake around 12:30 and told Thatch, I just had a doozy of a dream, and I told him what I remembered. He preferred to sleep, so I took a Tizanidine and went back to sleep.
-
Last night around 6:00 I had a fall that could have been serious, but I was very lucky. I sat down on the edge of the bathtub to refill the cats' water bowl in the bathroom. I sat back too far and fell into the bathtub. It could have been serious if my head had struck the faucet or the side of the tub against the wall. Instead I landed on my left elbow and hip, missing the faucet.
-
So I lay there, splayed out with my legs in the air and my back in the tub while I had to mentally examine myself for any damage. Then I had to figure out the logistics of extracting myself. It took some time to get all of myself into the tub and into my usual bathing position, but I finally managed that. I figured, this should be no problem now.
-
Well, I was wearing socks. I was not in not my bare feet, and I could get no traction on the floor of the tub. My feet kept sliding, and it took forever to pull myself out of the tub. As sopon as I did, I offered up a silent prayer to whomever is watching over me. This is my third fall since 2017 that could have been serious but wasn't.
-
After that, I washed the cats' dinner bowls, gave them a treat, and we watched an episode of Jeeves and Wooster. The estate that served as Downton Abbey was used in this episode as Sir Watkyn Bassett's country estate.
-
DR vixmom, the microwave was appealing until I saw the dread words Assembly Required.

Gloria Grahame:

OKLAHOMA!

This past weekend, I've started writing the 31st play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
The subject is somebody I knew.
Stay tuned.
-
Good morning, all.
-
What’s the DOODLE in muddle? That’s the piddle on the middle of the poodle.
(A Sondheim reference)

Ford:
3:10 to Yuma
The Big Heat
Pocketful of Miracles
Gilda
Just about anything
-
Graham:
In a Lonely Place
It’s a Wonderful Life
The Big Heat
Sudden Fear
Oklahoma! (But where is she during the title number?)
Crossfire
-
Was reading a cookbook from the 1920s yesterday and came across some atrocious variations of deviled eggs, or stuffed eggs, as they called them. Mash the yolks with your choice of ground sausage, sardines in mustard sauce or catsup (aka ketchup). Then do what? Serve them to the enemy? Hand them out on Halloween as tricks?
-
Good morning.

Graham:
In a Lonely Place
It’s a Wonderful Life
The Big Heat
Sudden Fear
Oklahoma! (But where is she during the title number?)
Crossfire
Probably making out with one of the cowboys.

It is supposed to cool off here nicely tomorrow.
-
Elmore, I'm glad you recovered from your fall. Bathtubs scare me.
-
TCB, I hope you get approved quickly. I hope you find a kitty that is calm and friendly.
-
In the first grade we always sang YANKEE DODDLE DANDY in music class.
-
More heat here today so I am running the air.

The Big Heat is the ONLY performance of Jeannette Nolan's that I can watch.....

Tuesday morning greetings! After several weeks of difficulties, my iPhone appears to be dead. It’s weird to be unable to receive calls or texts. Thank goodness for email and Facebook. We have an appointment at the Apple store on Thursday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Don’t DODDLE, Amaryllis.

Today really feels like Monday.
-
A Tuesday for Rutabagas—the title of my next novel.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Must write cast stories now.
-
Wow. It got humid again today. It's only around 81, but feels quite a bit warmer.
I'm not complaining. I wasn't going to do anything outdoors for another day or two.
-
Watch-Your-Step and Take-Care-of-Yourself VIBES for DR Elmore!

Yikes! :o So glad you landed the way you did!

I read that as cat and knew I misread it ;D
-
My stomach pain crossed to debilitating this morning. I can't stay on the computer and will return later.
-
Cast stories written. Today's temperature was supposed to be 89 - it's 75.

We lost power here at work! What's going on??
-
I'm surprised that the wi-fi still works.
-
So...let's see what's on during French Week, shall we?
Tuesday, September 8 - Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (2017)
Wednesday, September 9 - Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust (2008)
Thursday, September 10 - Massenet’s Cendrillon (2018)
Friday, September 11 - Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (2016)
Saturday, September 12 - Berlioz’s Les Troyens (2013)
Sunday, September 13 - Massenet’s Werther (2014)
I love that staging of Damnation, but it's one of their earlier "Live in HD" presentations, and I kept wishing they'd cut to the rear camera to give us the audience perspective more than they did. I think it's important not to lose sight of that in any such televised production.
-
Well, we get to go home! Evidently, a transformer exploded nearby and they figure that it won't get fixed until after 3:00. If our admin knows that the power will be out for more than two hours, they will send us home. So, I'm off!
Be back later.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Broiling the steak.

Never mind! The power came on less than four minutes after I posted this! So, we all have to stay and work. :P
-
We lost power here at work! What's going on??
Do you have the high winds we are experiencing?

Definitely not the wind.

Sorry.
-
I still recall going across the street when the neighbor's transformer exploded. By the time I got out there she was already outside with her dog.
-
We lost power here at work! What's going on??
Do you have the high winds we are experiencing?
There are some winds, but they're not too high.
-
Fortunately the explosion did not cause a fire, plus the fire department got there fairly quickly to check all was good. A couple of years later a friend lost her house after the transformer exploded.

That's good.
-
The winds must have shifted direction as it wasn't as smokey here this morning. The smoke was blowing all the way from California.
-
I need to switch positions again and get off the computer.
-
Let’s move on ...
-
Three!
-
There were not enough audience reaction shots in Tempest, but you could hear a few gasps.
-
Stomach not good today.
-
:(
-
Steak was very good. Later I'll have a little salad to bring me up to 1000 calories or a bit below.

Another lesson in why Facebook stinks. Hundreds of people are sharing an article with a click-bait headline that says 250,000 new cases of Corona have been linked to the Sturgis motorcycle thing - only problem is, it's a LIE. As I've been posting everywhere, to no avail because people want the outrage and negativity no matter how bogus it is:
The headline is a complete lie. This is a STUDY, not fact, and it's based on cell phone data that may not be accurate, which they admit, and it's done by economists, not scientists - all projection, no reality. There have been seventy cases that have actually been linked to this event. I'm bored of setting the record straight on this today 🙂 What I've posted elsewhere and a link to a proper article: It's total BS - it's a STUDY, not fact. FACT is that there have been seventy positives that can be linked to this event. The headline is click-bait and an outright lie. I've researched, and this is why I HATE Facebook in terms of these sorts of things. The headline isn't just click-bait, it's an outright lie. Here is an article written by people not looking for click-throughs - this STUDY was done by economists using unscientific cell phone data that may or may not have been accurate to say this COULD be the case, not that it IS the case, well, read the real article from Forbes - it's all supposition and no scientist or epidemiologist has said this has any basis in
reality whatsoever - as of last week there had been seventy positives that they THINK can be linked to the event: "https://www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2020/09/08/sturgis-motorcycle-rally-may-have-caused-250000-coronavirus-cases-economists-say/#3bde060d45fa

They blew this way. Our skies are full of smoke they say is from California.

DR ELMORE I am so relieved at the outcome of your fall.....so scary......be safe.....

I believe you are closer to the fires than we are.
It didn't help that Ashland was in a valley for the smoke to settle, boy did we get smoke from California.

All sides of issues these days are using incorrect information for their arguments. It only hurts all of us in the long run.
-
I went for a gentle walk with Keith and saw the damage from the winds. Our condo manager & his helper where chain sawing several ash trees that had fallen. We will miss those trees as they provided shade on the sidewalk.
-
They said another tree had gone down by the pool. Thankfully it hit a second tree that prevented it from damaging the fence around the pool. That would have been an expensive fix.
-
I am impressed that management found a 3 man crew with a wood chipper out today. I wonder if they booked them yesterday.
-

Oh, no! :(

You went for a gentile walk?
-
Back from picking up a package.
-
Packages are nice. I received my I Love Lucy 2021 wall calendar today.
I am an optimist.

Re-read that ;D

Speaking of Ashland, I just found out that a fire started at one end (the opposite of where we lived) and headed through the next two towns. I need to check on a few friends :(
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Very glad to hear that Elmore survived his fall/slide into the tub. Socks can be very slippery. Bare feet are often best. Glad you're OK.
-
Jane, I hope you're feeling more comfortable very soon.
-
I woke up at 4:30 again last night and couldn't go back to sleep. That's two nights in a row. I suspect it's pre-surgery jitters. I don't feel anxious, but I've had this happen before. My body knows what's coming.
-
I ordered from GrubHub today for the first time in ages. It worked well. Normally I pick up my take-out orders, largely to just get out. But the car should not be driven as it is. That'll be the first item on my list once I can drive again.
-
Stay safe, everyone.
TTFN.
-
Jane, I hope you're feeling more comfortable very soon.
Thank you. I was able to eat and so far am not any worse for having done so.
-

Yes, the body knows. Continued good vibes!
-
The winds in Ashland are also high.
-
I am trying to track the fire and finding little fires all over the place :(

~~~Vibes of All Kinds for Jeanne!!~~~
Every week I still receive an email from my Ashland hiking group telling me about the fun I am missing. Here is tonight's email.
"At the risk of stating the obvious, there will be no trek tomorrow. Folks can't get from here to there , or even there to here. The air isn't fit to breathe in most of the valley, and debris is sailing around from trees and ash.
Let us pray for all those whose homes and families are in harm's way and for the blessed ones out there fighting the fires..
Stay strong. We will try again next week"
-
And this from my friend :-X
"It will be a miracle if our house has not burned down. We have evacuated and are staying with a friend in Medford. All hotels are filled. Thanks for checking on us. My daughter-in-laws house has already burned down. I took nothing just my electronics and Maddie and meds. Ugh! You have to get out fast."
Maddie is their dog.
-
That's terrible, Jane.
-
Well, I'm leaving work.
Be back later.
-
That is terrible, Jane. So sorry for them.
-
Watching Chopped Sweets. Would not want a dessert with duck liver in it.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Guess I'll make my salad so I have some greens in me.
-
Good night, all.
-
Salad was good.
-
Good was salad.
-
Listening to music.
-
That's terrible, Jane.
Thank you. I am shocked how little warning they had.
-
That is terrible, Jane. So sorry for them.
Thank you. I am hoping for the miracle but fear it won't happen.
-
I remember a fast moving fire when we lived there. Keith could see it from the Y while working out and called me to get out of the hiking trails. Fortunately the water planes and fire trucks got there quickly and controlled the fire in spite of the high winds. I wish today had the same outcome :(
-
My, my, my - no TCB, no George, who must be off playing Phase 24 or whatever it is.
-
Good evening.
-
Sorry, I couldn’t get signed in to my IPad until now.
-
And this spellcheck shit is not helping.
-
No one home but me.
-
This stupid thing is really wonky tonight.
-
Page four at ten minutes to midnight.
-
Not good.
-
Good is not.
-
I hope Jane is feeling better.
-
I am glad that elmore survived his fall.
-
Third fall since 2017?
-
Hell, I can beat that record in a week.
-
I hope George is okay.
-
One more post.
-
P a g e f i v e
-
5 minutes to the bitching hour.
-
Hey! You have your hours, I’ll have mine.
-
Went out to lunch today.
-
The smoke was really bad.
-
At least, I had power.
-
The town of Graham had a big fire in the night, but it was a long way from me.
-
Has been George been here at all, since he left work.
-
No word from the animal shelter.
-
So, I won’t be kitty shopping tomorrow.
-
The soonest would now be Sunday.
-
My great nephew has a cat he wants me to take.
-
His cat has not been spayed yet.
-
He would also need a FIV test before I would let him in my house.
-
He is a nice looking kitty.
-
Well, good night.
-
I hope Jane is feeling better.
To my surprise I am much better. If I could fall asleep I would feel even better ;)
-
My, my, my - no TCB, no George, who must be off playing Phase 24 or whatever it is.
I'm here...finally.
-
I reclined in my recliner and totally fell asleep. ::)
-
Hi, Jane.
-
To my surprise because when it is this bad I normally take much longer to get over the worst of it.
-
I hope George is okay.
I am.
-
Hell, I can beat that record in a week.
Sigh.
-
Has been George been here at all, since he left work.
No.
-
Tonight, I made myself a hamburger for dinner and it was pretty darned good.
-
I also read a few more chapters in my book.
-
His cat has not been spayed yet.
How old is the cat and would your nephew get the cat spayed?
-
I'm a little more than 60% of the way through, and it's heading towards the ending.
-
His cat has not been spayed yet.
How old is the cat and would your nephew get the cat spayed?
Good questions.
-
And now...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
He would also need a FIV test before I would let him in my house.
Understandable, however, would it really matter if you don't plan on getting a second cat?
-
:D
-
Hi, Jane.
Hi George.
-
Here I am, reclining in my recliner, with Neve hanging out above me. ;D
-
Awww :)
-
Neve is glad you are home.
-
Neve is glad you are home.
I'm sure! She's almost always around me.
