Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland 109, and now it is time for you to post until the 109 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BLATHERSKITE!
-
And a very happy birthday to Singdaw!
-
Happy Birthday to (former) DR Singdaw!!
-
Topic of the Day: I have always loved the song "Smile" from Smile, so that's probably my favorite song, and Daniel and Mackenzie knocked it out of the park!
And who knew that Petula Clark was 87?? Wow! She was wonderful!
-
I'll definitely watch it again today at work!
-
To finish my
bragging list from last night...I also got "Guys And Dolls: Off the Record," the 1959 movie On the Beach, a FOURTH Bette Midler title, "LIZA In Concert" (aka "Liza in New Orleans" on Amazon Prime), and the 1981 movie Heartaches with Margot Kidder, Annie Potts and Robert Carradine. That's what actually got met started on all this laserdisc purchasing. ;)
-
Just had to share. And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Hi DR TCB. I am sororry I missed you.
-
Tom, if you normally get the senior high dose flu shot remember you should now have the option to get the highdose QUAD.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This old coot was up too late. I think I prefer to watch the day after, and I will elucidate.
I turned off the computer as soon as I closed up shop, brushed a demanding Annabelle and Thatch, and got to bed around 10:15. I was so wound up, I could not get "Here You Come Again" out of my head. And for two hours I lay in bed, tossing, running through the song, thinking about the show, and getting NO SLEEP!
I took a Tizanidine around 12:30 and slept some time after that. At 5:00 I woke to Stella jumping all over me, went back to sleep, and dreamed I was a student at Miami U in Ohio but living in a cheap Manhattan apartment with roommates. Most of the dream was about cleaning the bathroom and waiting for the bathtub to drain while the parents of my roommates waited on the street collecting cartons of FreshDirect food.
-
I had three favorites: Adrienne's two songs and Kerry's "Losing My Mind." I must admit that I detest "50 Per Cent." I've never liked it, no matter how well Kerry performed it. I think she would be a fabulous Sally in Follies, far better than "see how hard I'm acting" Victoria Clark.
Pam Myers is an old Cincinnati friend, and I love her, but I was worried about her voice because she had not been in good voice when I last heard her sing. "Another Hundred People" made me cry; I've always loved the song, but she sounded fantastic, and I was so happy for her.
As to my other old, old friend Jason, he can do no wrong, never.
-
Today I am thinking about laundry. I have to be out and about on Wednesday, so I need a day of little movement before I head out. If I do the laundry, it means I have to give the bathroom a mild tidy, and I have a lot of books that need to be organized as well.
-
My favorite "Cabaret" song is BLATHERSKITE.
-
Doctor vibes for DR TCB.
-
It was such a wonderful show last night.....as for the TOD.....it is hard to choose, but if I am forced to do so:
SMILE!
-
Dominic Thiem won the Men's Championship at the U.S. Tennis Open Yesterday.
He was down by TWO sets and came back to win in a a best of five sets over Alexander Zverev.....it was really a great match.
Roger Federer & Rafa Nadal had declined to travel to NY for the event and Novak Djokovic was disqualified earlier this week for hitting a lines person with a ball - so we have a grand slam win by someone NOT IN THE TOP THREE for the first time in many years.
-
And the Vegas Golden Knights MUST win tonight or the Dallas Stars are the Western Conference Champs in the Stanley Cup Finals.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
I just got a nice surprise.
A lady from Soap Lake, WA, just sent me a check to purchase 4 signed copies of my first (1999) novel, NOBODY DROWNS IN MINERAL LAKE. (In the book Mineral Lake is pseudonym for Soap Lake, the place where I spent the summers of my youth.)
The fact that the audio edition (read by Chip Dolan) was just released is, apparently, also sparking interest in the paperback.

-
Kitty cleanup finished, and I will do laundry. As soon as I finish my coffee, I will take the walker to the basement and bring up a laundry cart.
-
While the washers are running, I'll make my bed and tidy the apartment. When things are in the dryers I'' have breakfast and take my meds.
-
I do have one bit of exciting news: my friend Rob Berman is in zoom rehearsals for a new musical. I don't know who's directing.
-
Okay. It's time to get moving.
-
I forgot to mention how much I liked your new song, BK. I also thought Harley sang her song beautifully, and her production work was really fine.
-
Good morning!
-
TOD: Loved Jason's number and so many others.
-

Nice.
-
The final load is in the washers and the bathroom rug is in the dryer. I need to frag out the dustbuster and sweep up the loose kibble.
-
Every morning as I wake the smell of smoke is stronger than the day and night before.
-
Thanks for the laundry report DR ELMORE.
It might encourage me to do the same.
-
Congrats DR DRUXY.

And in astrological news:
When it comes to love, tomorrow’s Venus-Uranus square aims to shake things up. If you’re already in a relationship, you might find yourself looking at other people and wondering “what if.” If you’re single, you might be thinking about an ex and wondering if you should have stayed together. Or maybe you’re with/attracted to someone who’s not that great for you.
Under this rebellious and unpredictable Venus-Uranus aspect, it’s natural to be questioning love now, but that doesn’t make you feel much better about the uncertainty surrounding you. Love is a big deal, and when you aren’t sure about it, that uncertainty affects all areas of your life.
-
Good morning, all.
-
JUST in the nick of time.
-
Instead of "favorites" (impossible to choose), the most "special" to me was Pamela Myers and "Another Hundred People" - fifty years later, complete, and in the original key.
DR Elmore or BK -- how many keyboard instruments were in the original Broadway pit? This song was on RMI, right? - on that harpsichord-ish setting? Did that instrument also cover the organ bits? Was a real piano used at all?
Anyway, damned good work by Richard Allen. I was fooled at first, thinking maybe she had an actual orchestral track. That was a masterful job.
-
Naturally, Petula Clark was very special, and it's so wonderful to see and hear what fantastic shape she's in.
Always good to see Jason Graae, and his incredible sense of humor is so welcome.
And what can I say, Kerry O'Malley always knocks it out of the park. The Follies song, very very special.
-
And Beth Malone! Talk about someone in command of her skills and faculties, and so at ease. Holy moly.
I could watch and listen to Adrienne Stiefel sing just about anything. Maybe even read the phone book. Hey, maybe someone should do that on one of these shows. Or not. I'm not exactly full of great ideas sometimes, so you might want to disregard that one.
-

I don't recall any piano in COMPANY. There were two guitars, two percussion, and keyboard (RMI) doing the harpsichord and organ.
-
All of the regulars are always good, and it was especially nice to see Mackenzie Wrap having a moment to shine. I know her face from previous ensembles and at least one trio, but had she been featured in a solo or duet before this?

Thanks. I asked because the original PC score (the handwritten one) is one of those in which it looks like piano could be used where indicated by the larger notes. But it also makes no distinction between keyboards, other than indicating the organ. It doesn't even say anything about harpsichord on this song.
-
I just got finished with the show. Great work from everyone. Kudos to all.
-
If I had to pick a favorite of favorites, it would be Another Hundred People. The sounded differently from a woman 50 years older than she originally sang it. Her perspective was different. Plus, the whole song had a different vibe and feel in these pandemic times.
It was as if I were hearing the song for the first time.
-
I love Kerry. I love Fifty Percent. Great equation, putting them together.
-
Peyton and your new song, BK, rocked.
-
Beth Malone was a real treat. Loved the song, too.
-
Our air quality was over 500 this morning, then down to 500. It has begun dropping again. Fingers crossed it continues downward and doesn't come back up. There is no sign of the hoped for rain until maybe later in the week.
-
I finished laundry around noon and brought it up. Then I lay down for a bit before I took the laundry cart back to the basement with the recyclables and garbage. Then I put away a few more things and lay down with Stella. I needed a nap, but I just nodded.
-
I'm up, I'm up - over ten hours of sleep, which I guess I needed.
-
Love reading your comments.

I got almost no sleep also mostly because "Smile" was going through my head!

I do have one bit of exciting news: my friend Rob Berman is in zoom rehearsals for a new musical. I don't know who's directing.
That's exciting! Do you know anything else about the new musical? Who's writing it? What's it called?? Inquiring minds want to know!! ;D

Every morning as I wake the smell of smoke is stronger than the day and night before.
Interesting. The website that I had been looking at the last few days:
https://www.iqair.com/us/usa/washington/olympia (https://www.iqair.com/us/usa/washington/olympia)
right now shows the air quality as 169.
This website:
https://www.wunderground.com/health/us/wa/olympia/98506 (https://www.wunderground.com/health/us/wa/olympia/98506)
right now says the air quality is 219!
But this website:
https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/olympia/98501/air-quality-index/331418 (https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/olympia/98501/air-quality-index/331418)
right now says the air quality is 293! :o
-
WTH??
-
???
-
Monday afternoon greetings! I have spent most of the day cleaning off my desk - filing, shredding, and getting snail mail ready to go out tomorrow. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better.

Currently the site we have been using, https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Olympia&state=WA&country=USA, shows the air quality at 211.
Siri says it is 220. Hmmm, here she usually agrees with airnow.

Songs going through my head is the biggest cause of loss of sleep, I must say. I ordered food and asked for it to be delivered between 1:30 and 2:00 - I did this last night and it was confirmed. According to tracking, the order hasn't even been placed yet so heaven knows when it's coming.
-
Darn, ours has gone back up to 441, still better than it was this morning. https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Vancouver&state=WA&country=USA
Siri says it is 404.

TOD - last night's show was a delight from start to finish. There were a couple of Cincinnati connections that I found interesting. I think Pam Myers is living here now, so her number was probably done somewhere not that far from where I live. And, among the other people commenting, there was a Philip Joseph Nuxhall, whose books I used a couple of years ago preparing a report on Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetery for one of my ladies' groups. Is he a friend of yours, BK, or maybe he was watching because he's a friend of Pam's?
Oh, look, in the piles on my desk, I found page 3!
-
And they just cancelled the order. Of course, they put a pre-authorization charge at PayPal so that money's already gone until that charge falls off in three days. And that would be the end of Postmates. Too many alternatives. I left DoorDash for a similar reason.
-
Ginny, no, he was new to us.

I do, but I don't think I should say anything yet.

I'm puzzled; I was notified that I was getting additional unemplyoment for August from the federal government, but there's no sign of it on my NY Dept. of Labor page.
-
My doctor's office called. Wednesday's appointment has been moved to next week because their elevator is out.
-
Ginny, no, he was new to us.
OK, then, I suspect he was there because of Pam.
-

Don’t tell Annabelle and Thatch! Goblins!

Same puzzlement here. They only just announced it today, and initial deposits are to be made on the 17th. It’s very confusing, as to who needs to do what, if anything, to make sure they’re getting it. A puzzlement.
-
Postmates is dead to me. Cancelled subscription. They do these temporary authorizations and when they cancel an order they don't do anything about the authorization - they let it fall off automatically, which takes seven days, which means I don't have that money now for seven days, whereas if they simply voided it out immediately the money would be back immediately. I think this is a class action lawsuit in the making and I will be quite vociferous publicly (starting with tomorrow's notes). Grubhub has the same deals, same restaurants and a better points system, so I'll do that, I guess. Also, the reason for cancellation of order? Barone's was closed. Guess what? Barone's isn't closed. I could order there right now via Grubhub, simple as pie, but I was so disgusted by all of it that I'm just making Wacky Noodles here and that's that.
-
Pamela Myers and Beth Malone are the next two on my list of favorites.....from the show.....last night.....that all of the internet is talking about.
Petula Clark - no words......and what a treat TWIGGY!

Be sure to also complain on their FB page.

We’re trying a Trader Joe’s spanakopita for dinner. It’s just not browning.

It could be the funds are being released on another day. The payments used to be direct deposit with the NY State deposit, except for that one week there was a one-day delay.

LOL!

Well, the cats had their treat, and I had chili spaghetti for dinner to finish up the chili I made last week. I suspect I will be in bed early tonight since I was up far too late last night. We're beginning Season Three of Jeeves and Wooster tonight.

DR Ginny, Philip Nuxhall is on Facebook, and our mutual friends include Pam Myers, Brenda Bruck who played flute for The Beggar's Opera in 1979, Ritch Stoops, Bruce Kimmel, Elissa Rosenberg daughter of the Miami U director of theater Donald Rosenberg when I was a grad assistant, Henry Cepluch, and eighteen others. I have the impression he and Pam may be keeping company.

He's also the son of Joe Nuxhall, late longtime play by play announcer for the Cincinnati Reds.

So, AAUW Middletown is having their first ever virtual branch meeting tonight and I'm taking a guest - Richard. The speaker is our friend Sam, local historian, giving his wonderful presentation on women's suffrage. I heard it at a DAR meeting right before things shut down in March.
Bye for now!

I knew that name rang a bell. Saw a lot of Reds games when I lived in the area.

Good idea, Jane - didn't even think about a Facebook page for Postmates. Doing it now.
-
Wacky Noodles made and eaten. Very good, very filling, and hopefully still around 1000 calories - hard to know but even if it's over it wouldn't be by much.
-

You will find numerous complaints like yours.
-
Where are the complaints? I can't see a way to actually post on their page? I messaged them and they asked for my e-mail address. But where are you looking - link me.
-
Right under the black box, where one expects to see a photo, there is a comment box. It seems smaller than usual so you probably missed it. If that doesn't work "like" the the page and look again for the comment box.
-
I just did a test run, liked the page & saw a place to post a comment. Then I unliked the page.
-
I saw them. They've responded saying the money will be back to me in three days. Total BS. I shall not be nice in tomorrow's notes. They caused this to be a most annoying day.
-
Did a quick run to the mail place to pick up a couple of packages. No watching tonight, only listening. Fritz Reiner, a wonderful conductor - all his albums for Columbia in wonderful mono sound and these are recordings for the ages, I must say.
-
Hello, everyone.

PAGE FOUR DANCE!!

Add me to the list of fans for Kitchen Table Divorce.

Hello, Jeanne.
-
I had some good news today. I put my car in the shop, expecting a high repair bill ($2000+), but my mechanic, who I trust, said all it needed was an oil change and tire rotation. $145. Great! I have to say that this car has been pretty trouble-free. It still has low miles, which helps. And it's DONE.
-
Hi, George.
-
And now, it's time for me to leave work.
Be back later.

Great news, Jeanne!
-
And now I'm off!
-
Oh, my Hawaiian face masks arrived. They're quite nice. They were delivered to the wrong address, but they found their way to my door. (I'm glad to have the masks, but am still exasperated with the USPS.)
-
Once I had the car back I treated myself to some tacos.
-
My Macbook needs repair, too, but I had to get the car repaired first.
-
That was my exciting day.
TTFN.
-
And the topper? No hot water. I felt something was off yesterday - couldn't get the shower as hot as usual. Today, nada. Grant will come in the morning to suss it out - hopefully it's a simple pilot re-light, but it has to get fixed asap.

That's great, Jeanne! I hope you take pictures of them. :)
-
I'm home and fed.
-
I finished reading a few short stories on my Kindle.
-
Two were part of a BIG collection...many more to go until that's finished.
-
I'll just read a couple every once in a while in between my books, or whenever I feel like something different.
-
The other two were individual short stories that were free on Amazon.
-
I saw them. They've responded saying the money will be back to me in three days. Total BS. I shall not be nice in tomorrow's notes. They caused this to be a most annoying day.
Yup. Next time check the fb pages of these delivery people for complaints before using them ;)

Congrats on your low car bill. How are you feeling?

Page four? Really?

Still listening too Reiner. Most of the set's mono sounds great. So far only one disc hasn't and I hope that proves to be the only one.

Craig spent 2 years in Romania without hot water when he was in the Peacecorp. He never wants to do that again.

Vibes the hot water is fixed tomorrow.

Hi, Tom.
-
How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
-
T.O.D.
I love ”50 Percent.”. It was the story of my life for several years. I thought she did a beautiful job with it.

Still smokey, but not as bad as the weekend. No rain here yet.

Hi, George.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
After Craig was born there wasn't any hot water in my hospital room shower. I had 2 roommates, both with short hair, who took very quick showers & washed their hair. Neither understood why I would not take a cold shower and wash my very long hair ::)
A nurse understood and found me another shower with hot water so I could go home clean.

At 525 our air quality is past hazardous and "beyond index".

I wonder why elmore hates 50 Percent?

What in the Hell is Trump’s thing about climate change?

He doesn't believe what anyone says if they're actually smarter than he is. He, like so many of his followers, are proud of their ignorance. :P
