Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of reality TV and how it works, and now it is time for you to post until the reality TV cows come home - they're hoping they haven't tested positive for COWvid.
-
And the word of the day is: ELAN!
-
Topic of the Day: in my laserdisc player: Guys and Dolls - Off the Record (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JFKHUVS/). They're all so young!!
-
Today, I'm having lunch with my friend Margo at Eagan's, then after work I'll go to my mom's and play cards. This'll be the first time without my dad.
And now, I'm off to bed. Have a good day, all!
-
That new Ella CD sounds great!
-
Regarding a certain "breaking news" item: I'm dubious. As others have mentioned.
-
I wanted to do a compare and contrast, but the photos I want to attach are too large. Will try to figure it out later.
-
Good morning, all!
-
After I learned about Hope Hicks, I went to bed last night thinking, I hope he gets it. So I have two wishes this morning: he does indeed have it and it destroys him. The problem is, he's such a serial liar, I too can see him faking it for all the reasons BK stated and trying to turn a serious disaster to his advantage.
-
I had a bed full of cats last night, all thinking it belonged to them, but I did sleep rather well.
-
I have no big plans today, but I still need to get the piles of books around my bed into some organization.
-
Kitty cleanup is finished and bed made. I haven't decided on breakfast yet, but I want to have something soon, take my morning meds, and lie down for a bit. U;ve pulled a muscle on my left side and it's irritating the hell out of me.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I wish Donald Trump no personal ill. I just wish he’d go somewhere far away from the country he’s tried to destroy.
-
But I also have to say that I hope this is no campaign ploy to say that the virus is nothing to worry about.
-
Good morning!
-
My fear, if the administration is lting and that no one is really Covid-19 positive, is that Trump will pull a "miracle cure" and his idiot evangelical following will claim it proves he's God's chosen.
-
Nine hours of sleep. One slight wakeup for less than five minutes. Feels good.
-
I'm reticent.....OH YES.....I'm reticent. I cannot comment AT THIS TIME......
-
I hate him so much I hope he is positive and this will be the end of him and his ilk.
-
ELAN is one of my favorite Bible personalities......
We were taught to say "personalities" because "character" made the Bible seem like a book of fiction.
-
I think somebody here said something about the President AND October.....I think......
-
Good morning, all.

This has been an interesting video week. Two nights ago, we watched Village of the Damned. I haven't seen it since its first release sixty years ago, and it's still a good, creepy little movie. Last night we watched a bootleg of Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall from around the same time, and I loved it over again. Ernie Flatt's choreography for the Russian dance troupe and the Pratt Family Singers, a really wicked parody of the Broadway Sound of Music, are so much better than his humdrum work on Woman of the Year. I was really impressed by Irwin Kostal's orchestrations. Julie Andrews' "Oh, Dear, What Can the Matter Be?" is so stunning, but the whole show is such a delight.
-
That's some fine viewing, DR Elmore.
-
I haven't seen YOUNG AND INNOCENT since I was, too.
Probably not since the Hitchcock festivals that would spring up around L.A. in the '70s. I do remember I liked it, but right now I couldn't tell you a damned thing about it except that it did indeed star Nova Pilbeam -- whose name I wouldn't have been able to pull out of the air, or even out of someplace a lot more unsavory -- but now that BK has put it back into my head I shall try to retain it.
I have it here, but only in that potentially wonderful but ultimately infuriating Hitchcock DVD set issued by Fox, in which some of the discs would not play well on certain players. I will take mine out and see what's what.

I have a similar blank on the film, but I know where my copy is.

As far as the TOD goes, these past couple of nights I went through a UK Blu-ray set issued a couple of years ago but which I just jumped on the bandwagon to get ahold of before it goes out of print: "William Castle at Columbia", containing the eight films from the US Sony DVD set a decade ago.
I decided to get it because of Powerhouse/Indicator's reputation for deluxe releases (I already had a few of theirs), and to have what should by all rights be the greatest transfers of the Castle films which are a fun favorite in this household. The amassing of material and the packaging scores high, no question about it. I was only disappointed to find that I'm looking at the same transfers from a decade ago, albeit it in HD and with appropriately high bitrates. But shame on me for "ass-uming" these were probably new scans. It's nevertheless a beautiful set of the films themselves, and not only every supplementary feature that already existed, but loads of very good new ones. No regrets.
In checking out each movie, I first watched the main titles and a few select moments from the DVD set, then went right to the new Blu-ray for the same film to compare as best I could. On the very first one ("The Tingler"), I was stunned to see the identical defects on both. Example: flickering main titles (yes, I know about opticals), unsteady picture otherwise, and a bit of flickering/contrast issues within the film. I went back to Indicator's blurbs about the release, and that's where I learned that, sure enough, this was Sony's existing HD transfers -- so what we get is what had been prepared for release on the DVDs, which is light years away from what's possible now with 4k scans and other technology.
BK should correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. I'm just trying to watch a little more critically than I have before.
Bottom line, though, a lovely release, which actually proves that the US DVD set was no slouch, because the transfers were certainly good then, and it, too, was packed with extra material. But Indicator has gone over the top with fun new stuff, and I'm happy to have the set.

Singdaw, here's a video of J.B. you might enjoy. Only about 20 seconds.

Nice video, DR John G!

Nice video, DR John G!
Thank you, KevinH!

Good Morning.
TOD: Andrew Lloyd Webber has a playlist on Spotify called Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jukebox. A mix a lot of different music, all great. Good for a Friday
As for the newest news out of Washington - I don't wish ill on anyone, even someone as different as the President. But I'm a little over people taking this news as a time to display the same childish behavior as the person they are making fun of. Sometimes I wish there was a legitimate 3rd party.
-
I just got my absentee ballot, so I am very happy.
-
after work I'll go to my mom's and play cards. This'll be the first time without my dad.

DR Jeanne, you might find this article on Kimberly Guilfoyle entertaining and informative:

I'm up, I'm up - I think - seven hours of restless sleep.

I wish Donald Trump no personal ill. I just wish he’d go somewhere far away from the country he’s tried to destroy.
Um ::) ...and ditto.
;)
-
But I also have to say that I hope this is no campaign ploy to say that the virus is nothing to worry about.
Exactly!
-
I enjoyed JB's Neely O'Hara impression.
-
I enjoyed JB's Neely O'Hara impression.
Thank you on his behalf.
-
The Republican National Committee would chose a replacement nominee if Trump were to become incapacitated. I guess I am incorrect that Pence is the most likely person to be our next president should Trump/? win the election.
-
I hope he didn't have the virus during the debate. Wallace was 12 feet from the candidates while they were only 8 feet from each other, and with all that yelling I think 12 feet would have been much safer.
-
I wish Donald Trump no personal ill. I just wish he’d go somewhere far away from the country he’s tried to destroy.
Um ::) ...and ditto.
;)
Well, not me. I wish nothing but the worse on him.
-
Be careful of what you wish for. It could get worse :(
-
I've grown more skeptical as the day goes on, that this is anything more than a... a...
What's the word I'm looking for?
Oh yeah. HOAX.
Needless to say, it would be one of the most vile ones ever perpetrated. But I would expect nothing less.
-
Nice video, DR John G!
Agreed! ;D
-
I would LOVE to try a bottle of Dr. Brown's diet black cherry cola.
-
DR John G., thanks for the video. JB is a star. A star, I tell you.
-
Very happy to hear that DR elmore3003 got his ballot.
-
Work today was very frustrating. There are technical problems with my computer set-up. An IT guy "ported in" to my computer to try to set everything aright. He rooted around for over an hour, with limited success.
-
But the weekend is upon us, and I, for one, am glad of that.
-
I need to take a course in how to manipulate photos - how to make their digital footprints bigger and smaller, etc., if I'm going to be able to post them here at HHW.
-
DR singdaw I use a program called Fotosizer. Easy to use.....small.
When you download there might be one screen that asks if you want to download something else, just decline or unclick that box - it's been awhile since I downloaded it.
You can drag and drop your photo - choose the size you want it - or customize - in the settings you can choose for the resized photo to be put in the same folder. You get the smaller photo with (copy) as part of its name.
Your original is not harmed and stays the same in the folder.
EASY......it must be. I use it.

In the article that said he was going to Walter Reade, precautionary visit, it also said he'd been injected with some unapproved anti-body thing.
-
The bag is ready for delivery at the Drive By Baby Shower Tomorrow.
Only one sister is going with me.
I put the receipt in a sealed envelope and wrote on the outside of it "Receipt if you want to return/exchange anything." I put it in the bottom of the bag. I went back into the kitchen and THAT envelope was still on the table.
I had put my cable bill in the gift bag......I thought for a moment about leaving it there.....but a saner head prevailed and I switched them out.
-
Back from picking up my three-month supply of Gerther's Pastilles.
-
You're good until the end of the year!
-
Prior to that, there were the dreaded updates requiring a restart - I did them then before it could even load everything it said there was another one. So, did that one and left - it was done by the time I got back. Guess I'll think about food right about now. VERY hot out.
-
Ha! Wow, DR Jrand70!
-
At Ollie's they had Men's 55+ Multiple Vitamins in a 400 count bottle for $4.99. I bought one.
It says "Compare to Centrum Silver".....and I thought well you could probably compare them to "Annette Funicello", too, the result would be just about the same.
-
We don't need no stinkin' updates.
-
I just got another update notification... and I looked for something to click or right-click on that would tell me what it was for.
But there was... nothing.
-
Damn them.
-
In the article that said he was going to Walter Reade, precautionary visit, it also said he'd been injected with some unapproved anti-body thing.
It is the drug that I currently would want if I got sick. I have to hope it works, sigh.
-
This afternoon I watched the first act of Die Zauberflöte, and it's really a lovely Julie Taymor production. I'm just about to lose my chance to get back in for Act II, but that's all right. Some other time. I pulled out my full score halfway through it, and really should have done so at the beginning, because, man, it's been years.
-
When anyone says "Walter Reed Hospital", my first thought is The Day the Earth Stood Still.
-
Thanks for that recommendation, DR Jrand70 - I will check it out!
-
Keith's cousin has been sending us updates about his son's surgery. Except it hasn't begun yet as the surgeon is still in surgery and will be for another hour or two.
-
Well, I'm leaving work and am off to my mom's.
Be back later.
-
Enjoy your evening.
-
Gearing up to move when my lease is up. A few miles away from where I am now. The rent is cheaper, the area is nicer, and I think I need a change of scene.

Sounds perfect! Packing and moving vibes
-
DR MATTHEW is movin' on up!
-
We watched the new iteration of The Boys in the Band tonight on Netflix. I've always found the play kind of a bitter pill. But it was very well done.
-
Murray Schisgal has died at age 93.
-

Sounds like a good move.
-
I ushered for a screening of Chicago tonight. It was great seeing it on the big screen again. And the first time in a few years. I think the movie is actually quite good.
-
We had an audience of about 100 and they seemed to enjoy it. Nobody left early. Nobody really seemed to leave for the restroom either.
-
Richard Gere was a lot better than I remembered.
-
I am ushering again on Sunday for a screening of Moana. They're all part of a movie musical series that the theater is presenting.
-
The kids movies (Moana, Sing, Frozen, Lion KIng) are on Sunday afternoon while the more adult fare (Chicago, Rent, Evita, Sweeney Todd) is on Friday nights.
-
I had to take tickets (actually scan them). I had my mask on securely and my gloves on. We had someone taking temperatures at the door.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hi, Jeanne!
-
Can you get us to page 4?
-
I've been watching MY OCTOPUS TEACHER, a documentary on Netflix streaming. I find it quit interesting. I needed something gentle--no murders or scandal or outrageous behavior.
-
Four!
-
I was wrong to talk last night. The news kept Keith awake, darn. I should have realized as it also kept me awake.
Jane, i try to turn my computer off by 10 pm, because it's just too stimulating. Blue light, news, or just interesting conversations can all activate my brain cells and make it difficult to sleep. Reading, however, lets me let go of the day and get ready to sleep.
-

thank you for thinking of me. It was interesting, but maybe just a bit more than I needed to know about her. Some people are just plain creepy.
-
But I also have to say that I hope this is no campaign ploy to say that the virus is nothing to worry about.
Exactly!
I agree, but I don't thnk it's that. I also think it's taken many people by surprise. Enough to modify their behavior.

I read that it's quite expensive and there's a very limited amount. Not many people hace access to it.

Creepy indeed.

Kellyanne has now tested positive.

Gearing up to move when my lease is up. A few miles away from where I am now. The rent is cheaper, the area is nicer, and I think I need a change of scene.
Sounds like a good plan. I hope it works out well for you.

It must have been a fairly young crowd then.
-
Hi, John G!
-
Kellyanne has now tested positive.
How naive can people be? What made them think they wouldn't catch it? Surely no one could still think it's a hoax.
-
It's been quite a day! I'm all tuckered out.
Good weekend vibes to all.
Good night.
-
I just received an email from Quest Diagnostics that I can get a home COVID test, which is, I guess, like the one that Matthew had.
-
I'm off to finish Troubled Blood.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. Very hot in here but I can't do air today or I'll get sick.
-
Unless I go to Gelson's and get something I need for tomorrow's food. Then I could cool it down at least a little.
-
Back from Gelson's and got the house cooled down a little bit. I'm praying it's not too late, sick-wise - maybe some vibes would be good.
-
But I AM drinking a Dr. Brown's Diet black cherry right now and there's three more bottles in the fridge.
-
Gearing up to move when my lease is up. A few miles away from where I am now. The rent is cheaper, the area is nicer, and I think I need a change of scene.
Nicer area and less expensive. If Craig could find soliomething like ke that he would move. When is your lease up?

I first read that as October and then had to double check it really was octopus ;D

So true. Usually I unwind before reading. I shouldn't chat here. Tonight I am trying to stay awake until I know Keith's cousin's son is out of surgery.
-
I have been receiving updates. The last update said it should e over at 11:00. A nurse took Keith's cousin a sandwich and drink while he waits.
-
Kellyanne has now tested positive.
How naive can people be? What made them think they wouldn't catch it? Surely no one could still think it's a hoax.
I doubt she thought it was a hoax, just followed his example that masks weren't needed. Sigh.
I do hope her family is ok and wonder how George Conway felt about her attending the event.
-
I haven’t seen or heard anything that would make me believe that there is any kind of hoax going on.
-
I agree.
-
We watched the new iteration of The Boys in the Band tonight on Netflix. I've always found the play kind of a bitter pill. But it was very well done.
I saw the original off-Broadway production in 1969. I hated every minute of it, although it was nice to see some of the original cast.
-
I can go to sleep now. The surgery is finally over. The surgeon said it went well. We will be in touch tomorrow. I suppose also find out the extent and seriousness of it :(
-
'night
-
Well, I'm leaving work and am off to my mom's.
Be back later.
I won the first game of Phase 10! I came in second in the second game. We had a good time and now I'm home.
-
Gearing up to move when my lease is up. A few miles away from where I am now. The rent is cheaper, the area is nicer, and I think I need a change of scene.
Great news and good luck, Matthew!
-
I am ushering again on Sunday for a screening of Moana. They're all part of a movie musical series that the theater is presenting.
I've never seen Moana. Should I?
-
Tonight I watched a documentary miniseries entitled CHALLENGER: THE FINAL FLIGHT. The widow of Dick Scobee, commander the shuttle, was one of the main interviews. Commander Scobee was a Washington born hero.
-

Currently, nobody but the test subjects, unless you happen to be President of the United States.

Hi, Tom.
-
I can go to sleep now. The surgery is finally over. The surgeon said it went well. We will be in touch tomorrow. I suppose also find out the extent and seriousness of it :(
Good night, Jane, and Good Luck for his recovery!!
-
Well, this is interesting...Secret COVID-19 documentary 'Totally Under Control' lands at the perfect time (https://news.yahoo.com/secret-covid-19-documentary-totally-192808712.html).

I imagine that Baron is safe. He probably hasn’t been within six feet of either one of his parents since the inauguration.
-
Hello, George.
-
Jane, good news about Keith’s relative. Continued vibes for a full recovery.
-
Good night, George. Congratulations on your victory.
-
Good night, Tom, and thanks!
-
Notes are written but not posted.
-
Notes are shaken but not stirred.
-
I played Phase 26 and lost, only because I have no idea what it is.
-
Listening now to the five Villa-Lobos piano concertos. This guy gives prolific a whole new meaning - something like 2300 works.
-
Will no one rid me of this meddlesome page?
-
Glad to hear the surgery went well.
-
This is called vamping till ready.
-
Two more minutes to ready.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Why I oughta...
-
And then I wrote...
-
What, is George reliving his glory Phase 92 win?
-
Certainly he has disappeared from these hear parts.
-
Of course, that should be these here parts, I here - sorry - hear.
-
Sorry/Grateful

Page six!
