Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no morning meltdown, and now it is time for you to post until the morning cows come home.

I realized I purchased my first DVD several years before I had a DVD player.  John Yap called me from London and asked me to run down to Tower Records and purchase for him the newly released DVD of Little Shop of Horrors, which had been recalled.  So, I headed down to Tower, which was at Lincoln Center, and purchased one for John and one for myself.

I mentioned my first Beta tapes, CDs, and laserdiscs. I didn’t get a DVD player till 2000 or 2001, and my first DVD was South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut. A couple that I recall getting soon thereafter were the Fantasia box set and a crappy copy of Asylum.

My first Blu-ray, around Christmas 2008, was the Blade Runner set, followed soon thereafter by How the West Was Won and I’m thinking Disney’s Cars was an early one. It took quite a while for the types of releases I wanted to begin showing up on that format — which is exactly what has happened with 4k, and I haven’t taken that plunge at all.

Frst Mancini records were Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charade, and The Pink Panther. No question about those, and I played them to death. Later, The Great Race. I didn’t catch up with Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky till years later.

I honestly don’t think there’s been a Mancini score I didn’t like. All-time favorites would be those first three plus Experiment in Terror and Wait Until Dark. Later favorites were 10 and Victor Victoria, but as I type this, I’m remembering very little about those scores.

Well, the sad story is I have not slept at all.  Was in bed at twelve-thirty and the brain was and is on overload, no matter what I do.  Cannot fall asleep.  I honestly don't know how I'll get through the day, I'm on the verge of canceling Sunday's show and the November show because I can't function like this.  There is no way I won't get sick from it - I can feel it happening already and have been fighting it for five or six days.  I don't want to sleep ten hours or twelve hours I just want eight hours a day.  I would have taken an hour or two but with the stupid tree people coming that won't happen either.

Once when I had terrible back pain.....I bought one of those knee braces with a bump on the inside that you put near the sciatic nerve.....and it certainly helped.

It's called BeActive.....here it is at Amazon....but it may be available at Walgreen's....

The normal schedule of the outdoor pool in the apartment complex where we live is that it opens for Memorial Day weekend and closes after Labor Day weekend.

This year, there was a several week delay in opening because they had to dig up the concrete decking (twice) to find and repair some leaks.

In compensation, they have tried to leave the pool open longer.

But there is a cognitive dissonance that arises when you see the person skimming the pool wearing a coat and gloves.

Yes.  I do this all the time.  Hit "Ctrl+H" and the Find and Replace box will pop up.  In the Find what: box, type ".  " (that's period-space-space).  Then in the Replace with: box, type ". " (period-space).  Then, you can click on the Replace All button.

I usually just find two spaces and replace with one space in general and just keep clicking the Replace All button until there are no more double spaces in my document.  Just be specific on what you want to find and what you want to replace it with. :)

A year or so ago I'd heard and read so much about how the two spaces had always been technically incorrect, that I determined right then and there to change my own habits. After a couple of days of posting and whatnot, I got used to doing it and I'm happy with that.

The colon, likewise, is supposed to have only one space after it, and we were taught to use two for the same reason.

I'd read that the change was made when computer word processing and printing came into common use.  The look of the document when printed on a typewriter was more suited for two spaces, whereas the computer generated printing made the single space look better.

Periods and spaces periods and spaces.....

That just reminds me of my biggest argument with my typing teacher.  During a 5-minute timed typing test - you got your words per minute from the margin in the book. If you typed this far, you typed 65 words per minute.

Then you had to count your errors and deduct that number from 65 wpm. I kept saying but I made all of those errors in FIVE minutes.....the errors should be divided by FIVE as well.....I typed 64 wpm and made 1 mistake in FIVE minutes.

NOPE.....he looked at me like I was crazy.....

Good Afternoon!!  The Kindergarten class made their debut on to campus this morning and they are very cute!  I've seen them on Zoom, of course, but it's the first time on campus.  The are situated in the gym and in our upper hall - 6 feet apart, no more than 20 in a cohort.  5th grade comes tomorrow and in 2 weeks, we welcome 2 more classes - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.   It's great to see the kids!

I'm heading home now, and will check in again later.  Stay safe everyone!

I can't imagine why anybody would ever remove a Garlic Chicken ANYTHING from a menu.  :)

We're in a documentary groove here lately. Tonight, one about Bill Cunningham, the "fashion documentarian" famous for his street photography in New York City.

Then, another one on film critic Pauline Kael.

Both enjoyable; both on Netflix.

And now, I must leave.  My sister wants me to print a couple copies of a picture of my dad when he was in high school so that she can send it to our aunts, so I'll print those, then bring them over to her...then, I'll get something to eat.

Be back later.

Awww.  Did they all keep their masks on?

I think so!  I was in and out all morning dealing with tech issues, and they seemed to be happy with their masks on!

Despite being super overtired, I'm actually feeling a bit better tonight, so let's hope that holds.  And I have zero plans for tomorrow so can sleep as late as I want and I'll get to bed early.

I think I did go over the calorie count today, but that's the first time in almost six weeks and I think that's fine.  The pizza, if one believes the CPK site, was under 800.  I think the Caesar was probably about 400, so not terribly over but even if I went to 1500 it would be fine for one day.
