Well, you've read the notes, the notes forced quit, and now it is time for you to post until the forced quit cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PECUNIARY!
-
George I very much enjoyed the photo of your father taken when he was in high school.

George I very much enjoyed the photo of your father taken when he was in high school.
Thanks, Jane.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night was the longest night I have ever endured. I slept poorly, my shoulder and leg pains kept me uncomfortable, and I thought the night would never end. When Stella started pestering me around 5:30, I decided that was it, and I got out of bed just before 6:00.
-
Faithful little Thatch stayed with me all night, but I'm sure my restlessness drove him mad.
-
I have no plans today. I still wait to hear from the Philly Pops about this job, and I will not begin it till I do. What I will do is print out the orchestra list and the score, so I am prepared.
-
DR TCB, I hope Sasha is happy in her new home today. I cannot imagine that she won't be.
-
I am so looking forward to tonight's debate. I hope Harris wipes up the floor with prissy li'l Missy Pence.
-
Speaking of li'l, I watched Li'l Abner two nights ago. I last watched it when the DVD was released and that was some time ago. It remains one of my favorite film adaptations of a stage musical.
-
LOL! Compliments pass when the quality meet.

Kitty cleanup is finished. My fifth floor neighbors Ann and Jen kindly carted up all my packages yesterday, including 40 lbs of litter. They are the best.

Loved that photo, DR George

I forgot to mention that, DR George! It's a wonderful photo.

Good morning, all.

Works for me!
-
I just heard from the Philly Pops, so I guess I must get to work.
-
It's a long way to PECUNIARY.
-
Great photo of your dad DR GEORGE.
-
Today is SASHA DAY!
-
My sister wants to go to Goodwill today, so we shall travel over there.
It's senior day with 30% off.....so getting through the knickknack aisle will be impossible and a lot of old men will be trying on shoes.....
-
Sleeping vibes for Mr BK.
-
My uncle - that I never met - was killed in a tree accident in 1935.

He died the next day.
His twin brother Jim who also worked there, told my dad who was nine at the time - that the tree had started to fall on him and that George ran over and pushed him out of the way.....and got the worst of it....
-
Good morning, all.
-
OMG, DR Jrand70. How truly scary and awful.
-
I just heard from the Philly Pops, so I guess I must get to work.
YAY!!!
-
Speaking of li'l, I watched Li'l Abner two nights ago. I last watched it when the DVD was released and that was some time ago. It remains one of my favorite film adaptations of a stage musical.
Damn it to hell! Now I have to do the same. :)
Indeed, it’s been long enough since I last watched it. Probably a decade or more, even though it doesn’t seem like that at all.
-
I just heard from the Philly Pops, so I guess I must get to work.
Congratulations!
-
I had a most vivid and disturbing dream last night about being a part of an art heist.
-
He died the next day.

That makes him a hero in my book. Good genes in that Earls family, DR JRand70, as you prove daily.
-
I had a most vivid and disturbing dream last night about being a part of an art heist.
Didn't Dino at the piano take over the gig from Art Blakey? Did it involve him?
-
Catching up, and sending love to you, George, and your family.

David is back!

I think BK looks fine without needing to work on his ABS.

Fantastic! Annabelle loves Patti LuPone, so she's hit nirvana. Although she is still angry with me that she cannot post on Cats Against Trump until I'm out of Facebook jail.

And the actual F word.

Wednesday morning greetings! There's nothing - not even any Zooms - on my calendar today.
-
Hi DR Freddie.
Thanks, Jane. Trying to catch up. Access to post was nil so I ended up falling out of the reading habit.
-
But so many of the folks here are also on facebook.

Brilliant, as usual!
-
I feel like I saw much of BK, plus some old posts of his.
-
Except for a rare person (maybe two) there who had to pick a nit, there seems a real awareness in this time when so few people are still doing Cds of show music - that BK is one of very few still doing it in a regular basis.
-
Totally shocked by the death of Eddie Van Halen at 65.
-
Terrifying stories from Jrand. And yet heroism runs through that story.
-
We are in lockdown again due to covid. Schools are still open (high schools and elementary). But now my niece in grade 10 only goes to school every second day. And masks are mandatory.
Stores are still open. But restaurants are closed for 1 month. And no social gatherings or visiting other people's homes. And sports are cut for 1 month.
-
I have not shaved nor showered for a few days. It's a good thing I am not turning on my videocam.
-
What a lovely way to start page 3.
-
A ham sandwich walks into a bar and orders a beer.
The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve food here."
I'll be here all night...
-
Good Morning! I have watched the new Randy Rainbow segment with Ms. LuPone. It's quite clever. I am still not a fan of Ms. LuPone, and that's all I'm saying about THAT.
Things are good in school at the moment. 5th grade invades campus at 12:00 (or 12:30, can't remember) which will be the next class on campus. Very exciting for that. We continue to tweak our tech setups, etc as there are still a few kids in each grade that have chosen to remain home. Sorta helps us keep our cohorts small, which is good.

Just received my absentee ballot!
I'd been putting off requesting it, and I finally dropped the request off at our town hall last Friday. I shall have it ready to take back down there to deposit in the lockbox by tomorrow.
-
I’m going to brace the polls next Wednesday. I had most of the afternoon off, so since we get 4 hours to votes, I figured, why not?
-
Thanks, everyone.....even though the newspaper left out the second "e" in the last name......it was a small town.
George & Jim had just gotten their jobs on the tree farm a few months before. George had purchased a car and had also just become engaged to his girlfriend Opal.
She married a few years later to a young man who went into the service for WWII. She didn't want him to go. He enlisted anyway and she divorced him. She married twice more but never had any children....and died in the 1980's......the internet has a lot of useful information.......

That was great. I know Patti tweeted “I still have the lung power and I wore less makeup. This revival is closing 3 November.” Did she also sing the Lincoln Project parody?

That's great. Our son wants to return to the classroom. He works twice as hard and long now, basically sitting in front of the computer for up to 12 hours, and feels he accomplishes far less with the students. I am sure it would be more rewarding if more students participated.

That was fast.

I'm up, I'm up - I did manage to force quite everything and I think I fell asleep in about two minutes flat - and here I am, nine and a half hours later. The phone rang about six times at nine, but nothing was going to make me get up and I fell right back asleep.
-
I’m going to brace the polls next Wednesday. I had most of the afternoon off, so since we get 4 hours to votes, I figured, why not?
Craig said he will also go to the polls. I am not sure what will happen if the lines are long as he needs to be at his computer/work.

Thanks George.
-
I am looking forward to DR TCB's news regarding Sasha.
-
That's what I'm thinking DR JANE. My dad has said that Opal came to visit now then afterwards but then stopped coming around......
-
Being so young at the time I can understand why she stopped visiting.
-
Has anyone who uses Safari had issues since the update of a week ago?
Yes. It freezes.
-
This is funny. Eight years ago today I posted on Facebook "is going to watch something besides the debate. I had hoped for better."
I hope for much better tonight.
-
My Safari is 13.1.2, and it looks like the latest is 14. So I guess 14 is the one that's trouble?
I never did figure out what those recent updates were After a couple of seconds the notification disappears, while I'm looking for something to click on that will tell me WTF the updates are for. I'm still a Mac newbie in many respects.
-

Hoping for something much better from last week for sure.

I think that part of it is due to schools re-opening. At the end of August we had like 65 cases a day (for a province of 8 million people). This week we've had around 1000 per day.
IMO they could have been way more cautious re: schools. Yes my younger niece is still at school full time. But for younger kids you only have to wear masks in the hallways, entering and leaving the school. But it's not mandatory in classes. Although most of the parents have tried to get the kids to wear them as much as possible.
-
In other news,
I'm back.
And I don't need no steenkin' badge or anything. I'm just happy to say I VOTED. :)
Congrats, ChasSmith! Washington state voting-by-mail-only starts on October 16 (https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters/), so we should get our ballots in the next week or so. :)
-
DR Jane I think part of it is due to so many people having parties, going out with friends, having lots of social gatherings, having people over to the house...
-
In other news,
I'm back.
And I don't need no steenkin' badge or anything. I'm just happy to say I VOTED. :)

I don't know when ours opened up, maybe at the beginning of the month? But any resident could check the box claiming Covid-19 as their reason for requesting absentee voting, and the lock box, about 12 minutes from my house, accepted both the requests and the ballots. Easiest thing ever.
-
In even more news, I've retrieved the Sloppy Joe recipe.
When I'm stocked back up on ground beef, I'm going to make, say, two pounds each of the Manwich mix and the recipe, and the three of us here will do a proper A/B comparison. I'll post the results, and then post the recipe. I haven't tasted this one in at least five years, so I don't want to just foist it on the world without re-familiarizing myself with it.
-
In other news,
I'm back.
And I don't need no steenkin' badge or anything. I'm just happy to say I VOTED. :)
Me, too. I put a stamp on my ballot and mailed it on Saturday.

I hope for much better tonight.
Hoping for something much better from last week for sure.
Since prissy li'l Miss Pence is in charge of the govt. handling of Covid-19, I expect Harris to kick his ass hard over 210,000+ deaths.

Hello, everyone.
-
This morning I stopped by my accountant's office to pick up my tax return. He told me yesterday that he's "reasonably confident" it's correct! I'm sure the IRS or state will let me know if they disagree.
I then went to the Italian restaurant for their excellent lunch special, a real bargain at $7. I get two meals out of it. Their outdoor dining business has been quite good. The lunch special is only for take-out, which I prefer, as I'm not ready to unmask yet.
-
I've been ready for a nap since 1 pm.

Yes, your governor was quite a jerk over that one, if you don't mind me saying so.

It's a lovely California day today--blue skies and 75 degrees. Really nice out this morning.
-
Bruce, I'm glad you finally got some sleep. I find I need to wind down in the evening if I want to sleep well.
-
California is usually very on top of it when it comes to the elections. I read that they sent out the ballots this past Monday, but I haven't received it. (No surprise.) I usually vote by mail, but may vote in person this time because I don't want anyone invalidating my vote because it's a mail-in ballot.

Latest Safari has screwed up Facebook stuff - when you respond to someone it doesn't tag them anymore - works fine in Chrome. But worst of all, for me, is when you start to type in a site you've used all the time in the address bar it isn't filling it in automatically, which it's always done before - that is completely annoying.

Tonight I'm watching my new Criterion disc of Show Boat. Ready for the music.
-
*Waiting for TCB to post a photo *

*Also wondering if we have a word for tonight.*
-
*Waiting for TCB to post a photo *
Yup.
-
Tonight I'm watching my new Criterion disc of Show Boat. Ready for the music.
I think the first half hour of this movie may be the finest movie musical ever. Make Believe, Ol' Man River, Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man, the direction, the performances.
-
I also just read the booklet accompanying the disc. May be the worst essay on Show Boat I've ever read. What does Fannie Hurst have to do with the movie? Nothing, and most of the essay doesn't have anything to do with anything, either.
-
I love the music in Showboat but much prefer the novel.
-

Can't bring myself to watch it.
-
I got a BINGO.
Also, I should have chosen a different word.
-
It's over. I did listen to it more than actually watch it. Pence much more often kept talking after the end of his time than Harris did. I don't think he said anything that we didn't already know, so I really feel that she came out much better than he did. Just my 2¢.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Good night, all.
-
Did a quick Gelson's run for tomorrow and Friday's food. I've been formulating two ideas over the past few weeks - one of them, although amorphous, was pretty much there in terms of the what. But the other one was just a vague notion of doing something that would be totally innovative and the idea finally came forth tonight and if I can figure it out and write it I'm super excited about its possibilities.

I am looking forward to DR TCB's news regarding Sasha.
Sasha and I got home by about 4:30. She has checked everything, eaten her dinner, rested her butt on my face, given herself a bath and is now resting on my bed with me.

Congratulations, Elmore, on the new employment.

Hi, Tom and Jane.

Being such a Democratic state, I am surprised that our local news station’s poll felt that Pence won. They must have watched a different debate.

Well, this is a somewhat disturbing announcement: Now the CDC confirms Covid-19 is airborne — here's what that means for you (https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/10/07/cdc-confirms-airborne-transmission-of-covid-19-how-to-prevent-spread.html). :-\

The final count they showed was something 55 to 45.

The CDC changes its story every ten minutes so I can't and won't take anything they say seriously. Hard to build up trust with an organization that can't get is stories straight.
-
Welcome home to Sasha. I hope Sasha will enjoy looking at the site.
