Of course it had just taken place when I was in school.
That’s a real one-two punch, Ginny! I bet they were both wonderful.
I see the NE is getting slammed with Internet outages. Vibes for all up there.
For JRand, some Carroll Baker references in an overlong story on a lost Paul Newman film that has been found.

So far there are no problems with mine.
Tuesday morning greetings! Yesterday was the last day (for me) of the virtual ALA Midwinter conference and it was a great one! The closing speaker was Dr. Jill Biden and her "warm-up act" was the young Inaugural poet Amanda Gorman. I also watched 2 wonderful book/author panels. While I miss the energy of being there in person, I'm grateful to have this online alternative right now.
~~~SUPER-STRENGTH VACCINATION VIBES~~~ for DR Jane today!
Vibes for DR JANE today as she joins the ranks of the vaccinated.
My favorite quote from Dr. Biden:
"Loving to read means loving to learn."
But she also said something that haunts me. She was talking about the importance of somehow journaling (writing, drawing, etc.) during times of stress like now during the pandemic and said, "...when this is over in five or ten years from now..."
Yikes!
Lesson of the day: if you’re going to send your daughter to work in an English-speaking country, think twice before naming her Shital.
My appt. went fine. Mostly I saw my doctor's eyes and forehead.
My blood work and other tests were fine. I am free for another six months.
Good news DR JANE.
Thanks. It worked. We were lucky to go to an organized hospital, in and out in half an hour.
Good news from Jane!
Especially that the hospital was organized.
I've spoken to the surgeon and the plumber has come and gone. I've gone to the bank and picked up some lunch. Plus all the other little things that fill the day. I'm ready for a nap.
It was another weird day at work. We had our employee meeting where the bonus range was announced. In previous years, it could have been up to 18 % or so of your salary. Well, not this year. It was only 10.1%, and people who consider their bonus to be a God-given right were furious. Plus, regardless of the bonus, folks under $100,000 will get an additional $1,000 bonus.
Yet, the first question from an employee was whether leadership thought it was fair that we were being "penalized" because of things out of our control, including fines levied against actions made eight years ago. The person went on to say that, given the pandemic, we should get a full bonus because that was also beyond our control.
The CEO reminded people that we're a team and share in the good and the bad.
I did manage to get a walk in today. I was surprised. It was in the low 70s with the sun setting in my eyes and just felt healthy to be out of doors for a change. I wore my mask to filter the allergens in the air.
We also enjoyed the first episode of Miss Scarlett. Although every time I say it or read it, I can't seem to get Vicki Lawrence out of my head.
A COVID sentiment, if there ever was one...
Oh, my! Have they never heard the expression, "Never look a gift horse in the mouth"?? ::)
If they don't understand the concept of a bonus it makes me wonder if they understand the work they do ;)
