Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a hopefully very merry February, and now it is time for you to post until the February cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONGRUENT!
-
And a very happy haineshisway birthday to our very own Donald Feltham.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to Donald Feltham!! :D
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Donald!
-
~~~CONTINUED MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for bk!!!
-
And sorry about your noggin! That sounds painful.
Good morning, all!
-
So far the past hour has been a disaster. The omens for today are very poor.
-
Around 5:00 or so, I heard Stella misbehaving behind the headboard of my bed. Sure enough, she managed to lay paws on the paper towel roll I keep on a shelf behind the bed for emergencies from a spilled glass to cat vomit. As soon as I was up, I checked. I've got a shredded paper towel roll to clean up.
-
I opened the window blinds. We are in the midst of a snow storm, so the banking plans I've avoided since Friday for today are out of the question. I am not amused.
-
I had a bathroom disaster and had to change clothes. I am not happy about today's events so far.
-
Annabelle refused to eat breakfast.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to Donald Feltham!! :D
Ditto!
-
BK, your head wound sounds really painful. I'm so sorry about that.
-
My agenda for the day has been pretty much dictated by the morning's events. I have a bit more tidying after kitty cleanup than I anticipated.
-
Well. mirabile dictu!
I went to my Amazon Fresh order, and there were available times for Wednesday, so I placed the order. That's a big relief.
-
Good news, DR elmore3003. May this portend a fortuitous change in the outcome of your day.
-
I'm looking at the snow accumulation predictions for the Nor'easter and thinking, can that be right?
-
Kitty cleanup is over, and I'm having some breakfast. Then I will take my meds, make the bed, and deal with Stella's destruction.
-
Today is the birthday of Clark Gable, which gives me a perfect excuse to plug my one-person play, GABLE.
This, incidentally, was the first play I wrote in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection.
-
Good morning to all
-
Thank you very much for all the birthday wishes from yesterday.
-
Happy birthday to Donald Feltham
-
Last night, we watched a couple of old...very old...television shows:
The original PATTERNS with Richard Kiley and THE COMEDIAN with Mickey Rooney.
The quality of the kinescopes was not great, but both shows, written by Rod Serling, were still terrific.
-
Wife goes to the eye doctor today, which means that I get out of the house, since I have to drive her.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
Happy birthday, Donald!
-
Head healing vibes for BK!
-
Today is also the birthday of Victor Herbert!
-
Happy Birthday DONALD!
-
Healing head vibes for MR BK.
-
Better day vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Because we have wind chill temps of 19 degrees - I will not attempt to shovel the end of the driveway.
Shopping has been postponed until at least Wednesday. We shall see.
-
TOD:
The Dairy Queen Banana Split.....which had a lot of everything!
-
Good morning, all.
-
OW!!!!! [Insert colorful language here.]
Head vibes for BK. I used to do that frequently in the kitchen — but mostly during my California years, for whatever reason. Somehow I eventually learned to watch myself around the cabinets, and simply stopped, and I haven’t done it in maybe twenty years.
I remember some real whoppers and ending up with a nice lump. But I don’t recall ever breaking the skin.
-
Here’s to a much better day for DR Elmore. That was a real Monday kind of start, sir.
-
Monday morning greetings! Snow continues here. We don't have huge, crippling accumulations, but just enough to be annoying.
-
Yikes, BK, please take care!!!
-
Well, we’ve got a couple of inches already, but it’s supposed to be accumulating all day today and some of tomorrow. I think they’re saying eight to twelve inches in my area.
-
Today is also the birthday of Victor Herbert!
And here's my favorite Victor Herbert number, from Babes in Toyland! Glen MacDonough hardly ever rose to any heights as a lyricist, but I find his lyrics for this song in faux-Irish dialect full of yearning and romance.
This is Elizabeth Futral conducted by John McGlinn from his unreleased recording:
I remember that level all too clearly.
-
All the messes are cleaned up. I need to take the recyclables to the basement and pick up Saturday's mail.
-
This made me laugh!
-
That song is beautiful!
-
Now I'm listening to Donald's interview with BK, which is excellent.
-
In fact, I realized that so many facts have just flown by while I (like an idiot) was writing an email, that I'm making a note to listen to it again later with no distractions.
-
Tony Bennett has Alzheimer’s. Sad.
-
Oh yeah, I read that this morning. Horrible.
-
Thanks, George, for the disc.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe seven hours of sleep, but something from Gelson's was perhaps a bit rancid because my tummy was upset and I had to get up and pop about three Pepcids throughout the night.
My pleasure, John!
PAGE THREE DANCE!!
Tony Bennett has Alzheimers. Sad.
I read that, too. My dad LOVED Tony Bennett. He (Tony) actually came to Olympia in the late 1990s (I think, maybe the early 2000s) and my sister and I got tickets to see him, and my dad was so happy! Tony was one of the performers that my dad thought that he'd never ever get to see perform live.
-
Dave Brubeck was another performer that my dad LOVED. He (Dave) came to Seattle and we got tickets for my dad, also. He (my dad) loved both concerts and said that they were highlights of his life. :)
-
Back from the banking adventure. So, I tried the local branch of the bank where I have to cash my check - closed. So, I hustled over to the Studio City branch, which is where I should have gone in the first place and thankfully the line was pretty small, only four people. But - there was an elderly couple at the one teller who'd apparently been there for thirty minutes already, so we all had to wait another ten for them to finally finish. Once that happened, things moved pretty quickly, about ten more minutes. Then I walked to the BofA and there was no line out the door so I went in and found no line at the business window so I was in and out of there in three minutes. That was great. And now I'm home and entering fixes and will try to finish that before food.
-
From DR TCB:
I am sorry. I didn’t realize I had missed a question.
I was speaking in general. I often ask and you don't respond. My guess is you didn't really want to say.
-
Tom, I am glad you finally booked an appointment. I hope you are very pleased with the doctor once you meet.
-
Dave lived 10-15 miles from me when I lived in Catskill. He kept a low profile, but actually did a lot of good in Palenville.
Homeless people tried to takeover the Olympia Red Lion
:o
How is your head today, BK?
Oh, no! Dustin Diamond of 'Saved by the Bell' dies of cancer at 44 (https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/dustin-diamond-saved-bell-dies-cancer-44/story?id=75616361):
"We are saddened to confirm of Dustin Diamonds passing on Monday, February 1st, 2021 due to carcinoma," the statement read. "He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago. In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful."
TOD - from Detroit I remember Sanders’ cream puff sundae. They’d split a cream puff horizontally and sandwich vanilla ice cream inside, then slather the whole thing with the best hot fudge sauce.
But, when I moved to southern Ohio I discovered Graeter’s and, especially their turtle sundae. They combine their hot fudge and caramel sauces and mix in toasted chopped pecans. To make it really decadent, order it over chocolate chip ice cream.
Later!
-
As much as I love ice cream I pretty much had it plain. A very special treat was a strawberry parfait which was basically vanilla ice cream with sweetened sliced strawberries marbled through it, whip cream on top, & maybe a cherry. I rarely finished the whip cream.
-
A bit warmer - so I shoveled the drive and sidewalk in a HA way.....and got the end of it near the street flattened out so I can do my shopping tomorrow morning.
-
I wanted to get my vaccine but my brother wanted to wait until his wife could.....she is 67..... SO today was the day.
Then his boarder the Annoying One decided SHE wanted to get hers , too. So I had to find a day when FOUR appointments were available within about the same time.
March 17......MARCH 17 - which is I suppose better than May 17.....
-
And that took up a LOT of the day.
-
Maybe that will get me a Post It Note in my book in Heaven.
-
The most sinful extravagant ice cream treat were the coffee sundaes at Blum's. After Susan Gordon introduced me to these I was hooked. Coffee ice cream, butterscotch/caramel (can't remember which) sauce, maybe whip cream, and then topped with Blum's home made toffee crunch candies. OMG these were good.
Why do you have to wait for them? Your risk from covid might be higher.
;D I just corrected it. My eyes are so blurred I didn't notice.
-
TOD
Banana splits, most definitely.
-
After the general tidying up this morning, I lazed about with hte cats. The court shows and soaps kept getting interrupted for storm news. They're expecting Manhattan to get around 18 inches of snow.
-
I finally decided that a hot bath would be nice, and now I'm pondering dinner. I think it's going to be soup, cheese and crackers, but I'm really craving a pizza and a mozzarella-tomato salad.
-
When we were vaccinated at the local hospital it was easy. We parked in the garage & then walked across the enclosed bridge to the room to sign in. The entire process took 30 minutes.
-
Last night neighbors went, parked in the garage and then had to stand out in the rain & cold to go through new security. The entire process took 90 minutes.
Why the change?
-
Earlier a patient was checked into the hospital. Refusing a covid test they put her in isolation. When her daughter refused to wear a mask she was denied entrance to see her mother. At that point she demanded her mother be released, except her mother didn't want to leave.
The daughter then called for reinforcements who showed up with weapons to protest.
After about an hour the patient requested to leave.
NO ARRESTS WERE MADE >:(
WTF?? :o
Max Preeo posted that Warner Archive has announced they are preparing Blu-Ray of Damn Yankees. This is exciting.
-
The NYC Animal Control Centers have announced there are eight dogs to be euthanized this week, including one I wish I could adopt, one-year-old Oreo. Forty-four pounds is too big for me to handle, and I couldn't walk him, but I think he's adorable. I also think a one-year-old puppy should not be euthanized.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX3JH4c1WiU
-
This dog, who just came into the control center, is more in my weight range, and I would love to adopt him, but I can't. In my current physical shape, three cats are almost too much to handle.
-
My second cousin Dawn just called me to tell me they are saying goodbye to my cousin John today. It's the perfect end to what's been a lousy day/
-
DR George, my post about John's animals was worded badly. He already had the dog and the bird. It was my Annabelle and Thatch stories that made hiom decide to add a cat to the menagerie. All three animals get along. Here are all three.
-
DR Elmore, I’m so sorry to hear your latest news...
John and I communicated on Facebook and email. I hadn't seen him or his wife Cricket since 1978 or so, and this is hw I remember them.
-
And here's my favorite Victor Herbert number, from Babes in Toyland!
Lovely, DR elmore3003!
-
Tom, I am glad you finally booked an appointment.
DITTO!
-
Picked up packages, brought some stuff to Doug, including a surprise Dino's Pizza and got a small one for myself - VERY small but VERY good.
-
Just got to the end of catching up, and saw DR elmore3003's horrid news. I am so sorry!
-
I am also angry that DR Jrand70's relatives put their own selfish needs above his own health and safety.
-
And shocked about DR Jane's news story. Bad behavior these days has no consequences, it seems.
-
.
-
:))
-
What horrible news, DR Elmore. Your cousin John (and Cricket) must have been wonderful to know. The shocking thing, even when you first posted it, is how fast this thing was progressing and taking him down. Very sorry.
-
Their dog and cat and bird together are completely adorable.
I'm sorry for your loss DR Elmore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
My deepest sympathies, Elmore.
-
Today has been a day. I was at work longer than usual. By the time I got home, I was beat. I took the boys out and then did some work on the computer. Put The Carpenters on, and starting to feel human again. Now the dogs need to be fed, funny how they always know when 6:00pm is!
-
FIVE!
-
And good night, everyone.
-
Elmore I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. My sincere condolences
-
Ouch, BK I’m sorry about your head
-
Belated happy birthday wishes Michael!
-
Jack I am annoyed your relatives would make you delay your vaccinations until they were available
I hear ya. I got out of work late, could only take a 30-minute walk instead of the hour I wanted. The bird is screaming like crazy. I need some time not facing a computer.
-
Hi, Vixmom. Nice to see you.
-
Good night, all.
-
Vixdad is eligible now and I’ve been urging him to get his ASAP. Unfortunately there has been no available appointments yet
-
It’s been snowing since last night
-
About 14 inches so far
-
I worked remotely today
-
Around 3 this afternoon my neighbor called and swore his undying love for my husband
-
And asked me to convey the message
-
Vixdad had snowblown his driveway
-
Vixdad was full of sweet surprises today
-
I was having a lot of trouble with my laptop today
-
It’s 13 years old and did not play well with the whole remoting in thing
-
I may have said a bad word or three
-
Thousand
-
Vixdad was quite shocked
-
He responded by going online on his laptop
-
Condolences to elmore.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
And buying me a new laptop
-
The small Dino's pizza was great.
-
I finished entering fixes, so that's done and the book is now with the first proofer.
-
Earlier, I listened to Britten's delightful Albert Herring, which I was shocked to find out was not about herring.
-
Now playing, a delightful opera by Richard Strauss called Arabella, a live performance from 1963 in excellent sound, starring Lisa Della Casa and the ubiquitous Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
-
Eating some pretzels.
-
He responded by going online on his laptop
And buying me a new laptop
Nice! We all bought my mom a new laptop for Christmas, but my sister's boyfriend hasn't finished setting it all up. Hopefully, he can set it up exactly as she wants it...just like her current (and old) laptop, which still has Window 7. ::)
-
Oh, look! It's Page Six!
-
We didn't get to yesterday's page six until 12:17:39 AM this morning.
-
;D
-
And now, I'm leaving work. I've been here for far too long and need to get my butt and the rest of me outta here.
Until later.
-
I shall return!
-
My sincere condolences to DR Elmore.
-
Happy Birthday to Donald Feltham!
Hi, Jane.
-
Today, I received Broadway Melody of 1938 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085RTHYSX/) from Amazon.
-
That now completes my Broadway Melody DVD collection. :)
-
I ordered all four Broadway Melody movies at the same time.
-
I am so sorry about your news, Elmore. {{{HUGS}}}
