Well, you've read the notes, the notes actually spoke of music, and now it is time for you to post until the musical cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RUMINATE!
-
My jaw hurts
-
That is all
-
Good morning, all!
-
At 5:30 I decided to sleep in another hour. After 45 minutes I decided enough was enough. The cats are fed, my unemployment claim is in, I finished Jen's delicious cheese puffs, and Annabelle and Stella are frolicking about the apartment. Thatch is eating the remains of their breakfasts.
-
DR vixmom, I'm sorry to read about you mom's accident. At least it doesn't mean more sleeping on her sofa.
-
BK, thanks for the Prince Igor info. That Eloquence release got nice reviews, as I recall. It was part of a series of Russian operas that Decca-London released, and I remember a review of the entire group in Gramophone. I just added it to my wish list.

Busoni was Kurt Weill's teacher.

Jaw pain relief vibes for vixmom!

And yet more adventures with the car ........ Oy! Vibes!

Kitty cleanup is finished, and I am on my second cuppa coffee.

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes that I shall pass on to Kristi today.
She'll very much appreciate hearing about them.
The thing that's so hard to believe is that she's just a year short of having lived half of her life in this house.
She was 26 when we had gotten to know each other in the local theater circuit. She was going through her divorce from a guy who was (and still is) a very very nice person, but a person who hadn't been the right one to marry. I had just moved into this new house two years prior to that, and I had all kinds of extra room (which is now REALLY hard to believe). She needed a place to crash, stat. I said come on over, she'd have her own bedroom and bathroom, and being housemates worked out just perfectly for the two of us.
Some years later she met Nathan, and they dated and he became a good friend to me as well. They eventually decided to get married (that happened in 2012), and long story short, it made sense for him to become part of the household. And all these years later, here we are. It's all been quite the achievement, if we do say so ourselves.

My dreams these past few weeks have been "muted", for lack of a better word. They touch on familiar themes, but except for a brief moment here and there I haven't been remembering them once wide awake. Last night broke that pattern, with two (count 'em) classics -- one that I woke from at 2:30 in the ayem, and the other at 4:30.
The first one was a familiar one in which I find myself having apparently walked a very long distance, and it's time for me to quit dallying and get the hell back to where I'm supposed to be before it's dark or some other deadline passes. In this one, I was in L.A., somewhere south of Wilshire or Olympic or Pico (maybe even farther south), and I needed to walk back to, I guess, Hollywood. At any rate, I knew I had a two- or three-hour walk ahead of me, and I began trying to quicken my pace. It then was one of those dream things, in which the harder and faster I try to move, the more bogged down I get.
The second isn't even describable, but it was one that mixed elements from a few of my past lives in bizarre ways heretofore unknown.
And that was my night. It was a bit restless, but it turned out nicely when the cat decided to leave us all alone until way after his normal feeding time, allowing me to feel quite rested.
-
We're getting snow again today. It hasn't started coming down yet, but it's supposed to begin soon and last through the afternoon, leaving us with - who the hell knows - three to six, most likely.
I hope the plow guy can push it off okay, considering that the walls of snow from last week's storm haven't gone anywhere.
-
Well, I'd say that's about enough of me for a while.
Later!
-
Sunday!

Happy Birthday to Kristi - who is one third HHW's own "Three's Company"!
-
Vibes of all kinds for DR VIXMOM.....oh my - what a day!
-
I probably shall not watch the World Series which I think is on later today.....but I hope someone YOU like wins.
-
Today our Annie from 2018 will be singing the National Anthem at the beginning of the Pacers NBA game on my cable FS1 channel. I may watch the beginning just to see if that is broadcast.

Good morning!

Looking forward to the Bowl ---the Puppy Bowl, that is.

Sorry about your Mom's accident, DR vixmom, and am glad she's okay.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Kristi!
-
My apologies Chas, I believe I failed to wish Kristi a happy birthday. Please do pass on my best wishes!
-
How are you feeling, Vixmom?
-
Watching a film called Le Petit Soldat. It was Godard's second film and the first with Anna Karina. She's light and loveliness in a movie about torture and existential misery that's hard to watch. It's easy to see why the French government banned it for more than two years after it was finished.
-

This is a very nice story, and in these days of a pandemic it must be extra nice to have roommates.

Hugs and feel better vibes for DR Vixmom.

Yes, indeed. We're a "pod". :)
-
Watching and listening to that Philemon telecast. I love the score and would be happy to do it sometime.

Hi all....new Broadway Radio Show has now posted. We are remembering the wonderful Rebecca Luker with lots and lots of her recordings, including many produced by our very own Mr Bruce Kimmel. Enjoy this wonderful voice we lost too soon.

Did a little gardening for an hour or so. Got rid of some dead branches, enough to fill the green bin, which gets picked up tomorrow. I think I have enough to clear three or four bins more. So, a little each week.
-
I planted some purslane and watered the plants. It's in the 70s out here and lovely.
-
I also listened to some more of a book I'm getting tired of. It's called White Ivy and it's purported to be a tale of growing up in America with a Chinese background. It's a romance novel with very few original twists. I may skip to the end.
-
Started watching The Comedians with Liz and Dick, Alec Guinness, Peter Ustinov, Lilian Gish and Phil Ford all appearing among the leads. Then we get to the rest of the cast and, well, wow. They include Roscoe Lee Browne, James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Georg Sanford Brown, Gloria Foster, Zekes Mokae and Raymond St. Jacques.
-
My neighbor Ann stopped by and we had a nice visit. She and Jen had been to the farmer's market behind the Museum of Natural History and brought me an apple pie. I worked a bit pon the Oh, Boy! overture reduction, abd it's about time to feed the cats.
-
Stella loves Ann, and behaved like an angel wither her. She also flirtedoutrageously as she tried to get into Ann's shopping bag for the fresh fish Ann had purchased for dinner.
-
Thanks for the HHW Broadway Radio Hour reminder, DR Donald. And for featuring the voice of an angel.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep.

Happy birthday to the Kristi woman.
-
Wouldn't The Kristi Woman make a great title for a suspense thriller?
-
I think I would look good in a poodle skirt like the gal at the top of this page.
-
My one-hour grocery delivery window has commenced.
-
I was just alerted that someone put up Nudie Musical on YouTube in its entirety - looks like it's been up for a week. That's only happened once before and I had it removed and it was gone pretty quickly. I just filed the copyright infringement complaint so we'll see how long it takes them THIS time.
-
After which I plan to oven-roast some some onions and brussels sprouts.
-
THREE!
-
bk, can you tell from the resolution if it's from the Blu-Ray?
-
The noive!
-
Oh, boy. Alec Guinness in blackface.
-
I managed to spend at least a half hour on the bike until my legs told me it as time to quit for the day. I got further than yesterday and felt steadier. I'm still trying to figure out the speeds, except when going downhill.
-
DR VIXMOM's story about her microwave made me think of all the appliances we had when I was growing up.
I think our refrigerator was almost always a Westinghouse and our range was a Tappan.....and then a General Electric....when we moved. We may have gotten a Norge refrigerator when the Westinghouse left......
-
George Shultz has died at age 100. He was a clue in today's crossword puzzle. His place in history, I guess.
-
Sunday evening greetings! We are settled in to watch the Super Bowl and the chili is simmering for our dinner.
-
This afternoon it was 48 degrees, the sun was shinning, and it wasn't too windy. I had a lovely walk.
-
Oh, boy. Alec Guinness in blackface.
In The Comedians? :o

How are you feeling, Vixmom?
I perhaps should have asked the dentist for pain meds...the Advil is dulling it but it’s still throbbing
-
And, after that, a moment of Zen.
That is beautiful

I planted some purslane and watered the plants. It's in the 70s out here and lovely.
We ended up with 7 or 8 inches of snow
-
Ours looked like five to six, and I just came in from doing the snowblowing honors.

So you just hush up John G

DR Vixmom, sorry about your microwave, your dental woes, and your Mom’s mishap. Hope things improve this week!

DR ChasSmith, hope it’s not too late to wish Kristi a happy birthday!

In The Comedians? :o
Yes. And in drag.

That's like when I went to the hospital for the pain from the kidney stones and they gave me no pain relief.

So you just hush up John G
we're going to have three nights in the 20s this week. Winter is not over.

Well I guess that’s my 3 so it should be clear sailing now, right?

Clear sailing wishes for you.

Watching an Italian film called Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion. Very strange but compelling film. A police investigator kills his mistress and is heading up the investigation into her murder.
-
Had a nice dinner tonight of lemon pepper salmon with sauteed mushrooms and some veggies with dip.
-
That sounds good.
-
Onward
-
Four!
-
Good night, everyone.
-
I watched three movies today and they all had to do with torture. My lucky day! Thankfully, 2.5 were very good.
-
One of the extras of Investigation is an interview with Ennio Morricone, who created a perfect score for the picture. Creepy and fitting the Kafkaesque story.
-
Good night, all.
-
Have spent many hours entering fixes from proofer one. Did almost 90% of them - a few things I didn't do after Muse Margaret and I discussed them, but most were excellent and right on the money.
-
The Nudie on YouTube is clearly from the DVD - we got rid of all that noise and scratches and stuff for the Blu-ray because we weren't using prints.
-

I have done that with a combination of a book, tv show, and movie.
-
It was rather emotionally draining.
-
Then I dreamt I was being tortured which I normally only do when I am in a lot of pain

Oh, my!
-
Today, I woke up because of a phone call from my friend Margo (we're going to meet for an outdoor lunch sometime this week), but then I stayed in bed for another four hours. :)
-
I did get out of bed and took a shower, then I hied myself to Trader Joe's to see if they had a refill bottle of their foaming hand soap.
-
They didn't. :-\
-
But I bought a little bottle of their chamomile hand soap, but it's not the foaming-type soap.
-
There's nothing wrong with that...I just like the foaming soap. :)
-
I was curious, so I went to Fred Meyer to see if they had any kind of refill for foaming soap.
-
They didn't, either.
-
So, I drove through Burger King and, with a coupon, got two Whopper Jrs., two small fries, and two small diet Cokes for $5.00.
-
It was all good, but I ate it all.
-
It was WAY too much!! :P
-
Lesson learned!
-
That was probably around 5:00 pm this afternoon, and I haven't had anything else since, and won't until lunch tomorrow.
-
Actually, I have since had a diet Pepsi, but that has no calories, so I'm good there.
-
And now...

PAGE FIVE DIET PEPSI DANCE!!

What scent does it have?
-
I was curious, so I went to Fred Meyer to see if they had any kind of refill for foaming soap.
Our Fred Meyer usually has Method foaming soap, just not the coconut scent I like. I buy what they have for Keith and use the Yardley oatmeal bar soap I like..
-
Sharry and Micheal send good wishes to Jane and Keith, and George, even though he didn’t send good wishes to them. I lied and said you did, George.
-
Rarely do they have a foam refill. Sometimes their is one on the bottom shelf.
-
Thank you DR TCB. I gather you had a nice time.
-
Dinner was lovely. It was just a shame that the meal had to be ruined by Tom Brady.
-
And we exchanged gifts.
-
We had not seen each other in a long time.
-
As in Christmas gifts?
-
Micheal’s birthday, Sharry’s birthday, and Christmas.
-

Thanks for covering for me, Tom! I was going to, but forgot after I said for you to have fun!

I had two different scents, but I took off the labels and now I can't remember what they were. Today, I got chamomile scented soap. It smells very nice.

Fred Meyer did have small bottles of the Method foaming soap, but not in any kind of big refill bottle. I didn't look at the specific scents that they did have because I just got the chamomile soap at TJ's.

What happened??
-
I got a vaccine appointment for this coming Thursday at my regular Safeway store. My cousin called me at 9:00 a.m. and told be to sign in to Safeway CoVid vaccines, and I did. Apparently Sunday morning is when most of the Safeway, Albertsons and Fred Meyer appointment are opened up for the week.
