Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the premiere, and now it is time for you to post until the premiere cows come home.

I am so bummed I missed last night viewing and partay! I look forward to seeing Project One aka Tonight's the Night, and I think a zoom HHW event would be wonderful.  The old chat sessions were a lot of fun.

Because of this MRI today, my morning is weird.  I cannot eat after 8:00, so I have 2.5 hours after that to deal with housegold chores, etc. At 10:30 the pre-MRI prep begins, and around 1:00 I will head out in search of a taxi.  We had some snow last night, but I cannot tell from looking out the window if it will affect the walker.

I continue to marvel at the tech wizardry that was last night's show. It was all in service of the story being told, but even attending the cast party, I can't really explain how they did what they did and put it all together. Marvelous!

What a lovely show!  I enjoyed it very much.  All three performers were excellent.  And the music & script were so good!

The last few seconds were also cut off on Firefox.....but that's okay.

It took me awhile to get into the party - I'm sure it was technology at my end.  And once I did - the set up was very different from what I'm used to.  I saw the "talker" but didn't see anyone else.

I like a gallery view - and the little icon for that was no where to be seen.....but again.....technology.

Well, I was half right about the vaccination appointments opening up today for the 65+ group. Things didn't change at midnight or during the wee hours, but at the top of each hour this morning there was some very slight movement to be detected. But you had to be quick. It's cutthroat out there.

I almost didn't check at 9:00, then I did, and there were two time slots available at my venue of cherce (the local hospital) for next Tuesday the 16th. I took about four seconds to glance at one other day, came back to find one of those two already gone, hurriedly clicked on the remaining one... AND GOT IT.  :)

And of course we had to get another, um, gosh darned inch or more of snow sometime during the night. But the good news is that when that happens, we can often blow it off with the leaf blower, and that's exactly what Nathan was doing when I went downstairs for my first cuppa coffee. I have no idea why other people don't seem to think of that, but I can tell you that our driveway is now the only clean one around here.

That's fantastic news!  My closest venuie has been out of the vaccine for weeks.  I tried the location at West 97th Street, but I couldn't get the damned site to work.  Then, if I want to go to my HMOI's East 95th Street location, they supposedly havce it, but there's nothing on the site about scheduling a time.  I've sent my doctor an inquiry.  This situation, like Trump's impeachment defense, is total bullshit.

Getting this vaccine is proving to be a nightmare. CVS and Walgreens in Texas were supposed to get it starting today. But not in San Antonio apparently.
Title: Re: THE PREMIERE
Post by: ChasSmith on February 11, 2021, 09:14:16 AM
My registration and scheduling are managed through a portal called VAMC, an arm of the CDC. (I think.)

In my part of the state, at least, they show only medical facilities giving the vaccine. Supposedly, CVS and Walgreens and Walmart and maybe a couple of other stores are doing it in other regions, but not in mine. I got the hospital which is the ONLY site doing it all day Mon.-Fri.; hence, the easiest one to get into. Other medical facilities are only doing it one or two days per week.

TOD, in no particular order:

Z (1969)
Missing (1982)
Silkwood (1983)
The Stepford Wives (1975)
Coma (1978)
The Conversation (1974)
All the President’s Men (1976)
Marathon Man (1976)
Network (1976)
Three Days of the Condor (1975)
Executive Action (1973)
Telefon (1977)
Capricorn One (1977)
The China Syndrome (1979)
Night Moves (1975)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Parallax View (1974)

These are olice thrillers, but they deal with corruption at the highest levels, so...
Serpico (1973)
Prince of the City (1981)

And because it's such a wonderful warmup to Paddy Chayesvsky's later Network...
The Hospital (1971)

EDIT:  These are the ones that, for me, have an undeniable element of "paranoia" and "conspiracy" -- as opposed to other types of thrillers, police and otherwise -- of which there are MANY great ones from those years.

I usually try not to list so many favorites of things, because at some point it becomes "everything that exists" which dilutes the quality of the list. But I've been passionate about these for too many years not to include them.

Got this lovely review from Steven Stanley. Funny about the wedding ring, which none of us noticed, not that there was anything to be done about it. Next time we have a continuity person with us :)

High school sweethearts reconnect two decades after their breakup in writer-composer-lyricist-director Bruce Kimmel’s World Premiere virtual musical two-hander Tonight’s The Night, 60 minutes you won’t want to miss either tomorrow (February 12 at 6:00 Pacific Time) or on Valentines Day Sunday (February 14 at 5:00 PST).
Watch by clicking here:
https://www.youtube.com/c/haineshisway

Broadway’s Eric Petersen and The Group Rep treasure Hartley Powers could hardly be more perfectly cast or have more instant chemistry than they do as 30something exes who find themselves face to face for the first time in twenty years thanks to the magic of Zoom, and though it’s clear to us from the get-go that these two are clearly made for each other, in the time-honored tradition of the genre we call romcom, it’s equally evident that it will take each of them a good deal longer (i.e. an hour to be precise) to figure this out, especially since each recalls their breakup a good deal differently from the other.

Anyone who’s caught Eric on Broadway in Shrek, Peter And The Starcatcher, School Of Rock, or Escape From Margaritaville, or in four National Tours, or here as an L.A. transplant in UMPO Stranger Things or Something Rotten knows that is one singularly multi-talented gent, and those who’ve seen Hartley at the The Group Rep at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in Bruce’s A Carol Christmas (or opposite yours truly in The Man Who Came To Dinner) has been dazzled by just how dazzlingly she lights up a stage.
Together they could not be more gosh darn appealing, and never more so than when delivering Bruce’s back-and-forth snappy patter or performing ten or so of the irresistibly tuneful songs he’s seemingly got a million of.

I did wonder how someone who makes her living designing websites these socially distant days could have managed to never once have a zoom conference with a client and Eric’s wedding ring (which apparently got remembered and removed about ten minutes too late) had me a tad confused when his character proclaimed himself twice divorced and currently single, but these are teeny tiny quibbles in a production that proves how much can be achieved these days with Zoom as one’s performance platform.
Shot in crystal-clear Hi Def, Tonight’s The Night looks as good as it sounds, and the icing on the cake is the 11th hour arrival of Eric’s real-life daughter Sophie, an absolute charmer if there ever was one.

The same can be said for Tonight’s The Night.

I never notice wedding rings in movies or TV or plays, or even in real life half the time.

I do.  I don't know why. ::)

I usually do.  At times I have thought the actor put his wedding ring on the right hand instead of removing it.

I also notice rings in commercials where I wonder if the character really needs to be married, or if the actor/actress really is and it doesn't matter.

And now, I'm off for the day.  I need to go to my sister's and help my niece put an additional tarp over her chicken coop to help keep out the cold.

Be back later.

The Day From Hell has ended.  The cats are happy, I am starving, and glad this ordeal is behind me. I'll post more about the day tomorrow when I am much less crabby.

Hope you get a good rest.

Good idea.  Is it windy there?  I put my mask on during my walk when no one was around me.  It cut the chill from the wind.

It is really getting cold out there. And it feels like ice is starting to form. It's not supposed to be above freezing at night for another 9 days. That's just too long.

So, I get this panic e-mail from someone who ordered a Follies CD yesterday. He already had the CD and wanted to cancel - written in ALL CAPS with lots of exclamation points. And no name. Like I'm supposed to divine who he is. People are nuts.

Oh for heavens sake, he’s the guy that ordered Follies!

Actually, it turns out that it was to keep the snow out of the covered area next to the coop.  It hasn't been that windy, yet.
