Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the final notes of today, and now it is time for you to post until the final night's cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OEILLAID!
-
And a very happy Valentine's Day for those who have Valentine's. For those of us who don't. - oh, well.
-
I was going through my musicals and I clicked on one called “The Essential Stephen Sondheim.” It only had one song on it.
Do you think this was some kind of editorial opinion?

Where are you clicking, Tom?
-
On my Amazon Music.

On my Amazon Music.
Oh. Do you have Amazon Prime? I do, and I can listen to the whole recording because of that.

I know. I added it. Apparently I had listened to the “Send In The Clowns” version from that CD, so it added the song and the album. It is all fixed now.
-
That's good.
-
And I found two different versions of Angela singing “Send In The Clowns.” One was at the Kennedy Honors celebrating Steve Sondheim.

Nice.

Calling him Steve Sondheim. You would think I had started drinking again.

Calling him Steve Sondheim. You would think I had started drinking again.
I've noticed that everyone who know him calls him Steve, and you know BK, so you practically know him, so it's okay...go ahead and call him Steve! ;D
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good night, George. And thanks, I will tell Steve that you said it was okay to call him Steve!
-
I am not sure I can fall asleep. I can’t seem to stop sneezing.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I dreamed about Harvey Schmidt last night. He was such a dear man. One night at dinner, while I was working on Mirette at Goodspeed with him and Tom, we were talking about BK. Harvey was talking about how much he liked Bruce, and in his wonderful Texas accent, he said something like "I just know that if we'd met when we were boys in school, we would have been best friends throughout our lives."
-
This is a serious IRS day. I have a lot of printing to accomplish in the next two days.
-
Kitty cleanup is finished. I need to take the recyclables to the basement and pick up yesterday's mail.
-
Good morning, all.
-
For several years now I have been harassed by a person sending group emails that I have no wish to be part of. My requests to be removed from this group address are continually ignored. Things are quiet for a while, and then they start up again. This morning, since around 4:30am, I have received four of them. To avoid being blocked, the harasser uses different email addresses. He needs serious help.

Out of the blue yesterday, I listened to Celebration. I had been thinking about Messrs. Schmidt and Jones of late, and wishing I could do another of their shows around here while Tom is still with us. I hope he is doing well.

Good morning, all.

I just received my fifth email.

Good morning!

Condolences to Fred.

One more...

Page 2!

The snow forecast for here is now set st 90% starting at around 10 pm.
-
Yes our snow is supposed to start after midnight - and they say 6-8" of the stuff.
I did do some grocery shopping this morning - just in case.... Well me and EVERYONE ELSE IN TOWN.
When I make my usual shopping trip on Tuesday at 9 a.m. there are very few parents with children in the store. This is NOT the case on Sunday at 9 a.m.
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
Right now, our feels like temperature is -33.
-
So I guess I'll need to look up Leslie Sansone on YouTube.
-
~~~SNOWPOCALYPSE VIBES~~~ for DRs Jrand70 and Ginny and John G.!
-
It's very strange, but even though FB told me I was prohibited for 30 days, I am apparently still able to post comments on other's posts. I'm not going to tempt fate by trying to actually post. It's a weird game.
-
All of that, and then there's the ENDLESS waiting for the elusive Mr. Guffman.
-
LOL so true DR CHAS SMITH.
On a happier note - today at the store, a lot of gentlemen were walking around with bouquets in their hands.....
-
Was BK or one of you DRs talking about The Boys From Brazil recently? Maybe that was somewhere else. I watched it last night for my first time since.....just about the time it was new. I'm sorry I never saw it in a theater. If memory serves, I watched it on one of the early L.A. cable channels. I liked it, but for some reason I never returned to it before now.
What's crazy are the similarities or other connective tissue between that and Marathon Man of just a couple of years prior. Hmm. William Goldman vs Ira Levin. Interesting. I need to watch this one again soon to pick up details I know I was missing, but I might just pull out Marathon Man after that, maybe even Odessa File, and have myself a little 1970s Nazi war criminal-themed film festival. Should even be a couple more I can add to that.
I'm envisioning a Magnificent Ambersons-style picture of Indiana gents strolling down the sidewalks...tipping their hats...
-
I wonder where my Feb. 3 order from Premiere Opera is.
I see on their site that its status is "Payment received". Well, isn't that nice.
-
THEY PULLED THAT ON ME ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO.
-
So this is what is bothering me today......so if you want to skip this post - please feel free to do so.
So the vote was 57-43......so MORE folks voted guilty, but a 3/4 majority is needed. Okay.....but still MORE people voted guilty. It wasn't a victory in the real sense.
ANYWAY - of course on FACEBOOK some folks are celebrating and writing "***** 2024! Hurray!!!"
My problem is that several of them are folks who audition for shows I direct - or they are cast in shows in which I also appear. And they are almost all the same. They are hardly EVER cast in leading roles. They do not listen to direction, but do their own thing - and usually direct others backstage.
They do not like their costumes. By the second week, they always arrive after call time and just SO tired and act like they hate being there. This is even though they spend MOST of their time backstage NOT onstage. The mope around and are general annoyances.
Just because they have time doesn't mean they are ready when it is time to go on. They always have to rush around to get their costumes on - and against the rules they always invite family and friends backstage before or after the show.
They wouldn't think about washing their costumes between weekends, but demand that someone else do it - sometimes even lead folks who are taking their own costumes home to wash (blouses, tights, etc).
They never know their lines OR their lyrics OR their blocking.
They add nothing to the show. But it is community theatre and I hate to be the one to deny them the opportunity to do what they claim to love.
But this year - I am 70-71 years old. This may be the last musical I direct (I'll stick to plays) - and I really don't want to work with someone who makes my life miserable. So I am really thinking about NOT casting anyone I don't like.....
So there it is......of course they won't be in the audience because they never come to a show or support the theatre in any way unless they're mucking it up themselves.
So enjoy the audition! That is - if we even get to do a show this year.
THE END
DR Jrand70, as Gertrude Stein once wrote, an asshole is an asshole is an asshole is an . . .
-
DR ChasSmith, Premiere Opera can be very slow in their shipments. I suspoect they are understaffed.
-
Jerome Kern III arrived in yesterday's mail.
-
LOL DR ELMORE I deleted my self-serving and whining post - but you had already quoted it.
At least it's easier to skip and just read your response.
-
LOL DR CHAS SMITH - at least half of the gentlemen were wearing basketball shorts and baseball caps......in 13 degree weather!
THAT'S Indiana!
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep and for once a rather wonderful dream involving an old Valentine. :)
-
And now, to post up a storm and hope that not only will people see it but that they might get off their lazy Facebook butt cheeks and watch.
-
I'm so sorry to hear about DR FJL's dad. And very sorry to hear what his brother did. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Interesting. i think you're right about the movies (though I have seen Boys for at least 30 years), but the books were definitely different.
DR Jane I prefer the Walk at Home videos where Leslie is the instructor and where she usually has 6 or so others. She is moving a lot. She walks forward and back. She walks to the side. She kicks out to the front. To me it's really fun. As DR George said some of it is more marching. But I find it much more enjoyable than walking around my house on my own.
-
Soup's on. It took a bit of work to get it all together. I hope it's good.
-
I'm eating my last two hot dogs with chili, cheese and onion.
This uses up precisely every one of the ingredients. Including two half sour pickles I had in the fridge. .
They may have realized the error. It occasionally happens. I gather the offending post has been removed?
I am glad you found something you enjoy. I have a view of the river and birds, etc as I walk in one direction. I also dance some to the music, take breaks, and make it a bit more entertaining to myself.
I must admit, so far today I am feeling very unmotivated, but then it is Sunday.
-
Finally a bit of our drive area has been plowed so cars can pull up and pick someone up. The guest parking spots haven't been touched. We hope the hill out of our parking garage was plowed better than what I can see out my window.
-
15 minutes until soup.
Three!
Lindsey Graham thinks Kamala Harris should be impeached. That old queen's panties must be in a perpetual bunch.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! I attended Zoom church with Richard this morning. And this afternoon I crafted on Facebook Messenger chat with my sister. This evening I think I’ll watch “Tonight’s the Night” again and show up for the after party. Guess I’m having a Virtual Valentine’s Day.
-
In answer to your question, Jane: Yes.
-
I’ve seen it both nights already, but what the HELL. Right? Let’s do it! See y’all later.
-
Thanks to Amazon Fresh, I am enjoying my first Tombstone Pizza.
-
ChasSmith, yes, I spoke about Boys from Brazil about three or four weeks ago.
-
I slept another hour.
-
As per usual, I posted and tagged and twelve people have "liked" it and that's probably how many people it's reached. I'm waiting for tomorrow when I get messages that say, "I had no idea this was happening." And I will get them. Or, "I mean to."
-
Up from a nap.
-
has anyone watched a Danish series called Seaside Hotel? PBS is picking it up. It's funny, but I checked out the reviews on Amazon. One person gave it a one-star review because it had subtitles. Go figure.
-
Had a chocolate donut to tide me over until seven-thirty, when dinner will arrive. That allows for an hour for the Q&A and I doubt we'll go anywhere near that.
-
I just received my sixth email today. I am not amused.
-
I am looking forward to the last showing of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, but I am afraid I'm not going make it to the Q&A this time.
-
The snow forecast for here is now set st 90% starting at around 10 pm.
Fortunately, it has not been snowing today. It definitely looks like it's warming up. There's less snow on my car than there was yesterday. :)
-
I'm waiting at YouTube for the final broadcast!
-
~~~SNOWPOCALYPSE VIBES~~~ for DRs Jrand70 and Ginny and John G.!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
Just finished a half-hour cabaret of Andrea Marcovicci singing Kern. Wonderful stuff. Now TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!
-
I'll be watching for wedding bands.
That sounds good.
We just watched Freyja eat a very large piece of birthday cake. It took awhile ;D
-
She then opened our birthday presents.
-
And now, to post up a storm and hope that not only will people see it but that they might get off their lazy Facebook butt cheeks and watch.
I'm watching on my phone and posting on my tablet. When the Zoom meeting starts, I'll attend that on my tablet.
-
She loved the fun card we sent, kept opening it for the action inside.
-
Their internet was out due to the weather. At least their power is now staying on.
-
I'm eating my last two hot dogs with chili, cheese and onion.
I had some leftover taco meat and a bit of salsa con queso that I finished up today. It was a bit too much, so I probably won't have to eat again until tomorrow! :o
-
It wasn't exactly the video chat we normally had. Bryan set his phone camera on Freyja so she was up close & she could see us. Other than that we mostly only saw Bryan & Kate's hands ;)
-
It was a nice party. Hopefully next year we can do it in person.
-
Lindsey Graham thinks Kamala Harris should be impeached. That old queen's panties must be in a perpetual bunch.
And what's-her-name said that she filed to impeach Biden! What is wrong with these people?? And what in the world do they think that Biden and Harris should be impeached for?? :o
Right...like that'll even get past the filing.
Well they are now saying between 7" and 12" of snow for us......starting after midnight until mid morning.....then continuing Monday afternoon until nearly midnight......with expectations of about 1" an hour......
-
And on the former-royalty front...Meghan Markle is pregnant, expecting second child with Prince Harry (https://pagesix.com/2021/02/14/meghan-markle-is-pregnant-expecting-second-child-with-prince-harry/amp/).
Gratuitous Post #100!!
-
And it's over...again...and still really good!
-
Well, that was fun! ;D
-
That was good, for sure.
-
So where are those filters DR Jrand70 was using? In Zoom or in some other app?
-
Well, what a beautiful show, BK! I'm sorry I missed the earlier viewings because I loved it so much. I think it's a really good score.
-
We just watched Freyja eat a very large piece of birthday cake. It took awhile ;D
Very nice.
-
DR Ginny, your hair is different!
-
Nice to see so many of us tonight!
-
I loved it a second time around.
-
I am off to bed. Good night, everyone!
-
Yes, we got to see the new hair the other night!
-
DR Ginny, your hair is different!
Longer than Richard's ever seen it!
-
I gotta get out of here, too. Been a long day. Mañana, everyone!
-
I am off to bed. Good night, everyone!
DR Elmore, you used to be a night owl...
-
By midday Tuesday we're due to have 9-12 inches of snow :P
-
I didn't actually get to see everyone. I was on my tablet and could only see whoever was talking...good enough for me, though. :)
-
Good night, all.
-
The Jrand filters are on Zoom. I had one on that made me look younger. :)
-
Thanks for attending again (and elmore for the first time). The Q&A was really fun, too. We had just about the same audience size as showing one, eighty-something, so that was nice.
-
Dinner should be here in about fifteen minutes. My favorite chicken pasta thing from Stanley's.
Being Democrats
Funny that that woman filed impeachment for Biden and we haven't heard a peep since - I think she filed nothing.
-
I think you are right.
We received an email from our HOA president all of the buildings are reporting ice in the breezeways and to use the salt by the entrance doors.
When I got the mail yesterday it was a good thing Keith warned me to watch for black ice. I was prepared when I found it and had a pillar to hold on to. I guess I should have used some of the salt.
Our HOA has provided snow shovels, if we want to use them for our sidewalks.
-
I was able to walk through the snow yesterday to get to the parking lot without having to shovel, even though it was probably a foot high.
-
But, it's raining right now, so I don't think it'll be around much longer. :)
-
...unless it freezes and snows again. ::)
I should suggest this. I am not sure if we still have a shovel, not ghat Keith had an intention of ysing one and I can't anymire.
I think it will rain and freeze, but then the sun will come out and hopefully melt it.
Oh, my! What could the question be?
-
Well, what a beautiful show, BK! I'm sorry I missed the earlier viewings because I loved it so much. I think it's a really good score.
And it was a pleasure seeing and hearing you, my friend, at the Q & A.
-
Nice to see so many of us tonight!
I apologize for signing in on my PC, instead of my I-pad.
-
It didn’t occur to me until it already started, that I don’t have a camera on the PC.
-
I was sorry that Eric wasn’t on the Q & A. It was great to see Hartley there.
-
BK, I know it bothers you that these people don’t bother to show up for your shows, even when they are getting it for free. Tell them to go to Hell if it makes you feel better, but it is really their loss, not your’s.
Tacoma Musical Playhouse was rebroadcasting their online production of ASSISTED LIVING. They were charging $25.00 to see the rebroadcast, and even the cast had to pay if they wanted to watch.
Well, any way to make some money, I guess. :-\
Who knows, maybe people think they are getting a better brand of theater, if they have to pay for it?
It ain’t worth the money, and I love all of the cast.
I've heard that people think they're getting a better product or service or whatever if they pay more.
Maybe I am just too close to living in a nursing home to find skits and songs about dementia and ED funny.
I didn't see it, so I didn't know what it's about.
I know people will rave about a show they see in Seattle, but call it trash if it is done in Tacoma or Olympia.
-
I'd probably usher for it if it was a locally produced show, but I wouldn't/didn't go to Tacoma to see it.
-
I know people will rave about a show they see in Seattle, but call it trash if it is done in Tacoma or Olympia.
Exactly.
-
I've been in shows with people here in Olympia who were good enough to go professional (or actually were), and have seen some pretty lame productions/performances in "professional" theater in Seattle.
-
I saw several shows in New York that I didn’t think were worth the price of admission.
Well, since we're so close...
I saw several shows in New York that I didn’t think were worth the price of admission.
I've only been once, and fortunately, I saw some good theater, but I have friends who have seen some doozies! :o
A good example is PERFECT CRIME, the “longest running show in New York.”
