Well, you've read the notes, the notes made discoveries, and now it is time for you to post until the discovered cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MACUSHLA!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Funny, DR TCB. I guess I am (stealing your punchlines). As I posted it, I though, "This is exactly what DR TCB would say!"
And that's a compliment. :)
-
And the word of the day is: MACUSHLA!
That's what I always sing whilst eating my colcannon. It ain't a pretty sight.
-
Many people don't know that in Nietzsche's first draft, the novel was entitled Thus Spake Macushla.
-
I need to stand up for a bit, macushla's sore.
-
I can keep going....
-
...but I won't.
-
I know you must be disappointed.
-
But if I did, you'd have the answer to "who's got the pain?"
You.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Against my will, I must step out for a chest x-ray this morning, all part of this pre-surgery clearance for next week's biopsy. It's a trek to Columbus Circle, and I will be happy to get it over with.
-
My stimulus payment landed in my account this morning, so that's nice.
-
They sure are making you jump through an awful lot of hoops, DR elmore3003.

They sure are making you jump through an awful lot of hoops, DR elmore3003.
I suspect this biopsy will be more unpleasant than I would like.

BK, I'm not sure when the New Year's Eve Fledermaus galas began, but it started when opera houses began performing the work. The Met began scheduling Fledermaus around 1952, and it became standard practice that their New Year's Eve production would be the lightest piece in that year's schedule, and wouldn't it be fun to have a surprise guest show up to do something at Prince Orlofsky's party? So, a diva or ensemble of Met stars would show up to sing an aria on an ensemble like the quartet from Rigoletto. There's a Royal Opera video of Fledermaus with Joan Sutherland, Marilyn Horne, and Pavarotti showing up to make a guest appearance.
When Decca recorded that Gala Fledermaus, the company was using the tradition to showcase some of their roster in unexpected numbers.
-
Fun tradition.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Duluth, MN's iconic aerial lift bridge:
-
Lenox Hill Radiology opens at 9:00, so I want to get there as close as possible to that time.
-
I'm bringing these to my next potluck. Do you think they'll sell?
-
If Stella had her way, she'd be going with you, DR elmore3003.
-
Happy Saint Patrick's Day, everyone!
-
Good morning to all.
-
Faith 'n' begorrah! Wishing everyone
-
Today is also St Gertrude's day, the patron saint of cats and gardeners. Annabelle and Thatch have crossed the street to Holy Trinity to light a candle for her. I don't trust Stella with matches, so she's staying home.
-
Last night I watched the first two acts of a production of Carmen staged at the Opéra-Comique, where it began in 1874. I believe, although I can finds no info in the set, that the presentation of the score is what was heard on the very first opening night. So there are bits of music I've never heard before, including the number for Morales and soldiers after the opening chorus, a longer intro to the cigarette girls' entrance, all of the original spoken dialogue, and more. The cast is young, attractive, and good - not spectacular - and I felt the Carmen and Jose were cast more for looks and acting ability over their vocal splendors. I'll watch the last two acts tonight.
-
I have to step out now.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Onward
-
Two!

Okay, who’s Irish and who just fakes it every year?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Okay, who’s Irish and who just fakes it every year?
I’m not, and I don’t fake it. I just eat the fake dinner, my love for which is quite real.
Five pounds of corned beef are simmering as we speak. The cabbage, carrots, potatoes, soda bread, Irish butter, and Smithwicks Red Ale are standing by.
-
Smithwicks for breakfast. Has a ring to it, like April in Paris.
-
I hate the time change. It’s like I lose an hour of sleep every night.
-
Exactly! This is a tough one.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
Congrats to MR BK on 61% and to DR GEORGE on his investment.
-
It seems like Thursday but it is only Wednesday.
-
DR JANE - no I don't think Barnum was happy to see me.....yesterday OR today. He has not adjusted to the time change and is NOT having new seed and water at 7 a.m......too early!
-
My bank account is officially stimulated.
-
I am part Irish on my mother's side.
-
Your repast sounds splendid, indeed, DR ChasSmith.
-
I had potatoes for breakfast. Does that count?
-
Hmmm.... DR John G. and I have choices to make. I am going to have to re-read Simply.

Front runner is:
When you’re looking for love, that’s just how it goes.
OR
That’s just how it goes.

James Levine has died.
-
I didn’t know he was from Cincinnati.

It's a long walk, so I may be late!
-
I am home. The entire adventure took me about 90 minutes.
-
I am Irish and Scottish on my dad's family side, and English and German on my mother's. I identify as Irish, and I felt so much at home in my three Dublin visits.
-
Glad you are home safe, DR elmore3003.
And glad that you got to go to Ireland. What happy memories!
-
Don't you wonder what the kitties get up to when you're not there to supervise?
-
I’m about a quarter each of Irish, Scottish, German and Russian. I do have plenty of scotch in me at times. Or Irish in liquid form.
-
James Levine has died.
Stunned.
Not that I hadn’t been wondering how long before it would happen, what with the multitude of health issues and lack of mobility in recent years, certainly the scandals, and the loss of his brother who was probably more a lifeline than we even knew.

Exactly. He was the face of the Met to me for decades.
-
So it was Palm Springs he’d moved to. I’d heard California, and for some reason I pictured him gravitating more to the north than the south.
And they held the announcement for eight days?? His people were always very controlling with the press, but wow. That’s certainly curious.
-
Don't you wonder what the kitties get up to when you're not there to supervise?
No, I don't. it's bad enough when I'm home!
Just now, the TV and everything on one side of my apartment went out because Stella and Thatch are romping and they juggled loose the plug to the power cable holding all the appliances. When they built this apartment in the 1960s, the morons in charge determined a renter could live is a place with only 4-6 wall sockets around.
I just tell them now when I leave that I do not want to come home and find the police here.

Given his demons, he was a wonderful musician, I'm willing to bet the Met debacle and his mental health after it may have precipitated his death

Good morning!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Page 3!

I'm mostly Irish, along with German and English.

I'm genuinely one-quarter Irish! :D

Thanks, Jrand!

My bank account is officially stimulated.
Congrats, ChasSmith!

James Levine has died.
I just read that.
-
Good Morning, Happy St Patrick's Day. It's Wednesday, "catch-up" day and I'm off to the Target for stuff. Later on I have an eye check-up appointment, and then a rehearsal at 4:00pm. There's a corned beef that needs to be cooked and laundry that needs to be done. Yeah - definitely a "catch-up" day!
-

Yup.

DR JANE - no I don't think Barnum was happy to see me.....yesterday OR today. He has not adjusted to the time change and is NOT having new seed and water at 7 a.m......too early!
Have you considered leaving him alone and just waking him and 8:00 and doing everything an hour later?
-
Even though we have been vaccinated we have decided to avoided restaurants until we travel to Chicago.

The demons appeared to have stopped the moment he picked up the baton and the music started. He always seemed to be one with the music. And he was fun to watch.

I'm mostly Irish, along with German and English.
With the name Kevin, you know, I wasn’t too sure about that.
-
I find that chewing gum makes me sick and nauseated. I have been looking for the original Cinnamon Dentyne Gum hoping it would be ok to chew. Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere and it seems to have been discontinued :(
-
I'm mostly Irish, along with German and English.
With the name Kevin, you know, I wasn’t too sure about that.
And my middle name is Patrick! By the way, my grandmother had cousins named Griffin.
-
I see I still haven't gotten the hang of "quoting" properly.
-
Darn, I just called the office to find out when they are going to get special frames in for me to look at. The doctor apologized profusely that she forgot to leave a message for the proper person to do this. I can't see out of my completely scratched glasses that should have been changed last year :-\
-
I am exaggerating a little bit as I can see well enough to drive, walk, etc but not as well as most people. Plus it hurts.

My appointment today is to get my eyes checked and update my prescription so I can order glasses online. - which are much cheaper than Kaiser offers.

I can't order them online or I would. It is difficult enough in person to get it right.

We all had our nap, and it's time to feed the babies.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

We're either at 62% or 63% , as the home page certainly hasn't updated - we had four contributions. Anyway, today starts week two.

I love the photos with it. (If any can’t access WaPo, let me know.)

I am not sure that I can be that accommodating to Barnum, DR JANE......he may just have to deal with it.

Was listening to Sandy Bainum’s Simply album earlier. My feet did not understand why they couldn’t fox trot.
I really need to get back on a dance floor.

A local theater is staging a Cole Porter revue in an outdoor charity bar (called Cherrity Bar)/dining area with socially distanced tables. $25 for tix. You get a drink and an appetizer, plus $15 goes to the theater. I bought a ticket.
-
I am attending an online lecture/demo tonight on the music of Claude Debussy. Or is that O'Debussy?
-
Green beer may be involved.
-
But I don't drink beer.

Gratuitous Post #110.

Making an Irish broccoli soup for dinner. And, yes, the immersion blender is going to make an appearance before it’s over.

The Cole Porter event sounds great.

We celebrated Saint Patrick's Day by ordering Middle Eastern fare.

Sickened and angered by the violent hatred out of Atlanta today. But it could be anywhere.
The hounds have been released and aren't going back in the bottle anytime soon.

Went to Gelson's and got a half-rack of ribs, very small this time, but good and only about 250 calories. And a Caesar salad for some greens. Ate all that up and it was very good and that's it for today.

65% and that's on the home page now! So, not a bad day and we're only 100 bucks from crossing the 5K line, which is important. And still three full weeks to go.
-
Even if we can do just three percent a day we'd reach our goal in two weeks, but I'm really hoping it happens before that so we can go into stretch mode and cover fees and maybe make enough to add the commentary tracks.

Congratulations on passing the 2/3 mark.

Had a long talk with my sister. Mom isn’t doing so hot. Her blood pressure is low, and she’s getting dizzy before falling. She has a new medication but it hasn’t had any effect yet.
-
She’s starting to use her walker around the house—when she wants to. But she needs to use it more.
-
Good night, all.

Had to put gas in the motor car - $65, which did not fill the tank - could have taken another three gallons, which would have put that tally at $77, and anyone who doesn't think that's madness should think again. And at nine-thirty the station was full. I also made another Gelson's stop to get tuna for tomorrow's food.

I got a jar of dill pickles, too - zero calories for those babies.

Since only having one car I never need to fill the tank. I haven't paid for it since covid and don't have a clue how much a tank of gas costs.
-
Funny, until now I didn't realize how strange that is ;D
-
DR John I hope your mother will be ok and the doctor can get her blood pressure back up to normal.
