~~~Strongest and Most Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for BK's Storage Unit Move!!~~~
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Jennifer!! :D
-
Well, I need to get to bed. I knew that I needed to get to work early today, but I almost forgot that I'll also need to leave early because my condo's annual HOA meeting is tonight. They're supposed to have distanced seating and we're all required to wear masks, so I'm sure that it'll be fine.
Have a good day, all!
Good morning, friends.
It is a significant day for female American comedians; Lucille Ball died on this day in 1989 at the age of 77.
I didn't watch the telecast last night. Did this trailer for Spielberg's new West Side Story air?
Good morning, all!
Oscars? Schmoscars.
-
The cats and I watched a Midsomer Murders episode, and once again, Annabelle did not guess the killer.
-
I think I slept well, but it was a very restless night.
-
I have no plans for today. I have avoided Oh, Boy! for the past five days, so it's time to get back to it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy birthday, Jennifer!
-
I have a fairly busy day ahead. Work will be work.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to our DR Jennifer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good morning, all.
Kitty cleanup is accomplished. Little Thatch is becoming such a talker' it used to be Annabelle who never stopped chatting at me.
-
For the first time in years, I didn’t watch the Oscars. Just never got interested at any point throughout the season. I hadn’t seen a single one of the movies, but I probably wouldn’t have cared who or what won, regardless. Enjoyed reading last night’s posts, and I’ll likely be back at it next year when the thing chases its tail and reinvents itself yet again...AND will have two filmed versions of Broadway musicals to contend with. There could be a bit of fun in that.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Jennifer!
-
Well, it’s a Monday.
(Just a little service I provide, on a strictly volunteer basis, for any of you who may not have noticed.)
-
Happy Birthday DR JENNIFER!
Storage Move vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Well after awhile I did turn on the Oscars....and boy did I turn on them. I was pretty much horrified by what I saw.
I can't say anything about the winners and losers because I only saw one or two of the films.....
But it just seemed so low rent and unexciting and WOKE! to the point of nausea.
The In Memoriam was so rushed, I couldn't read a name and a job....and putting Boseman AFTER Connery was sort of.....wrong. And the terrible language used during the "game" was unnecessary and "look at me" that it was laughable.
And a DJ instead of an orchestra.....
-
MR BK if you have a television set, you can buy an antenna and watch local HD channels.....
-
Let's move on.
-
TWO!!
-
So I have a rehearsal tonight - an Act One run through. I hope my script is there where I left it.....we shall see.
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Jennifer!! :D
Thank you so much DR George!
Have Any Idea Of How Much The Whole Collection Is Worth?
Over on ebay, most of individual discs are going for $15 or less, but I saw a few single discs from this series in the $75 range.
Lovely weather today.
Hmmmm.....my Decades Channel will not come on this afternoon....it was working fine this morning. Oh well.
I survived my two-hour workshop. Thankfully they canceled the afternoon session.
I didn't watch the telecast last night. Did this trailer for Spielberg's new West Side Story air?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUUVp_kQ91Q
Yes, it did. I am not exactly sure what differences I was expected to see from the sixty-plus year old version of the film. It appears that they managed to find a "Tony" that was almost as bland as Richard Beymer. Perhaps that is a requirement for the role.
-
Happy Birthday, dear Jennifer!
-
I don't really know what I could say about last night's Oscar bash. They could have called it the "Gumby Awards" and it would have been just as relevant to my life.
-
I kept hoping that I would doze off for a little while, so I could avoid watching what was on the screen.
-
There are no guarantees in life, or in Oscar victories either!
-
Happy Lesbian Day of Visibility!
Perhaps those people in the know should have considered giving Chadwick Boseman an honorary lifetime achievement award? Then, they could have ended the awards with that (Hell, Best Picture was already gone), showed multiple clips from all of his films, and ended with the speech his widow was expected to give. It certainly would have been a better ending to the awards than what we got.
-
Still, I was shocked that Jrand was overlooked for a nomination, once again.
Later this afternoon, I am off to the Red Wind Casino to buy my good friend, Diane, her birthday dinner. I have no idea what time that fun will end.
I was, too. I filed my complaint with PayPal and it didn’t go anywhere.
Well, I read a Facebook post today about a dumbass Texan who let a dog mangle his puppy and blind it, then turned it over to a kill shelter since it was so mangled and the bastard was too cheap to take it to a vet. I posted "This POS owner should be hanged by his tiny balls and treated like a piñata." The PC Facebook police have blocked me again for 30 days.
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
Got the sign-off sheets for the book and signed them and the book will go to the printer today.
Good book news.
-
Yes, thank you. I was hoping for a nice write in vote for an Oscar for my performance in the ZOOM 'A Christmas Carol.'
I was ready to ZOOM into the ceremony - but it didn't happen. I thought that maybe when they awarded the Best Picture, they were really planning on a surprise and that I would get the prize - but it didn't happen.
-
I shall be traveling the NEW way to the theatre today. Not sure what kind of traffic I will be facing, following, or being pushed by - but that's life.
Have a good rehearsal, DR Jrand70.
I am pleased to announce the publication of my one-person stage play, PAUL MUNI, which is now available in paperback and Kindle edition via Amazon and elsewhere.
https://www.amazon.com/PAUL-MUNI-One-Person-Play-Acts/dp/B093B7T3PH/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1619473616&sr=1-1
Why it's taken me so long to write a STAGE PLAY about Paul Muni...I don't know.
My biography/filmography, "PAUL MUNI: His Life and His Films" (1974), was my first published book (by A.S. Barnes & Co.), and it was updated and re-published in 2016 by BearManor Media.
Paul Muni was the greatest character actor of his day. His films include the original SCARFACE, I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG, THE STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR, for which he won an Oscar, THE GOOD EARTH, THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA, JUAREZ, and THE LAST ANGRY MAN. On Broadway, among other plays, he starred in the original production of INHERIT THE WIND.
Performance rights are available.
Happy Birthday, Jennifer.
I think that would have been a very good idea. I didn't see THE FATHER, but I thought Boseman gave a great performance in MA RAINEY.
Not much of a day. Had California Chicken Cafe - 1/2 chicken, all white, sorry chickens of color. Not a good day for them - not terrible, just a bit underdone even though they now have a "well done" or "juicy" choice. Perhaps they mis-saw what I chose.
-
I felt funny asking Kerry's partner for the mixer. He did ask me what in the house I wanted. The mixer sits on my counter and I use it quite a bit. So I think of him a lot. It was such a blessing to have been able to call him a friend.
-
My Birding Buddy and I went north today. We stopped at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican food place for chilaquiles.
Does anyone use Google Pay?
Can't say that I have, DR Jane. In many ways, I'm a Luddite.
Good night, friends.
Bryan invited Keith & Craig while we were there. He got money because we joined and then everyone gets money back when we use it to pay. There was some game going on and they had fun trying to win little critters or something. Keith kept trying to get an extra fox to send to Bryan. The game is over but we continue to use his phone to pay when we are out.
-
To test using it directly from his phone to order online he purchased a number of puzzles for Freyja.
You should not feel funny asking for that. I'm sure you think of Kerry every time you use it, which makes it that much more special. And you do use it. It's not there gathering dust.
Mom asked if there's anything else I wanted from the house in Louisville, and I asked for her mixer, even though I have one.
Good book news.
Indeed. Looking forward to seeing this one in print. Well, I say about all of them, and I do feel that way.
-
Finished The Worst Hard Time earlier. What an amazing read.
-
I'm now reading a mystery called Fire on the Island. It's set on a Greek isle. It involves a gay Greek-American FBI guy investigating a series of fires on a depressed island near Turkey that's being overrun with refugees. It's not as good as it could be. But the writer might be better in a couple of books. His structure is a little off, and some of the scenes are overwritten. He could take a few lessons from BK on being leaner, with a sharper focus and without throwing in everything including, seriously, a kitchen sink.
-
Went out to look at the moon again, and it was hidden behind clouds.
Time for bed.
Good night, all.
Happy Birthday Jennifer
I didn't see the moon, but I did see a rainbow earlier!
Well, the annual HOA meeting went pretty well. We all sat outside under cover (it did start to rain for a bit, but not too much), and we were all somewhat distanced. We learned about the amount of money in the coffers, and the projects that the board wants to do, and other assorted bits of info, and then it ended.
-
It was probably the shortest meeting in quite a few years, but it was a good meeting.
-
After I left, I saw someone moving into an apartment, and it turns out that it was my friend (and former condo property manager) Shelly! It turns out that her father died about a month before mine. :( She had been living with and taking care of him for the last couple of years, and now that their house sold, she was able to rent an apartment here from a friend of hers who owns a unit here as a rental.
-
So, we chatted for about an hour (which was not unusual for us in the past :) ), and we'll be able to get together more often again.
KING 5, one of our network affiliates, just had a new report on Earthquakes off of the Washington coast. They used to say that we would be affected by the tsunamis here in Puget Sound. Now they say that we will have tsunamis anywhere from 3.5 feet and 14 feet.
Such a comfort!
Yes, I have a condo, but some people have purchased condos here and rent them as apartments. Shelly is just renting now because she wants to buy a place where she can work without having to rent a separate workshop. She makes and sells porcelain dolls.
