Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bumpin', and now it is time for you to post until the bumpin' cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JAUNTY!

~~~Strongest and Most Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for BK's Move!!~~~
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
As predicted, I was fast asleep at the moon's zenith last night. I believe it was cloudy here, anyway. I'm glad some of you were able to enjoy it.
Good morning, all!
Yesterday was a most frustrating day, and today from all appearances will be more of the same. I am not happy about this.
Ditto!
Yesterday was a most frustrating day, and today from all appearances will be more of the same.
Well, dang it!
-
Ten days ago my neighbor Ann mailed four bills for me. Two of them have cleared the bank, but the most important two - my rent and health insurance - remain in limbo. I do not know if they are caught in Trump's postmaster general's slow down in the mail, if the PO machinery mangled them, or what the fat hall has happened to them, but I am most aggravated.
-
Last month my check for health insurance cleared three days after mailing and the rent was right behind it.
-
Good morning, all.
Good morning, all.
I had a solid sleep until four-something in the morning when I woke up from a dream thinking it was already time to get up. Rolled over and got back to sleep okay, but then woke again at six, but I still didn't have to begin getting up till 7:30 or thereabouts. Partly, my back was killing me (it's been time for a new mattress for a long time now). Anyway, I'm up, feeling like something ran over me but drinking the java, and trying to bring back my two (?) dreams, one of which concerned some of the updates over the years in The Fantasticks (at some point in the dream I believed I had a handle on all the changes, until suddenly there was a whole song or maybe something incidental that looked familiar but I was completely unprepared for it) and the other is still trying to break through. Maybe it shouldn't bother. That first one was enough. And that's my morning so far.
Thanks for the birthday wishes DR Laura and DR Jeanne!!
Thanks for the birthday wishes DR Vixmom.
We enjoy seeing the moon here whenever it's one of those spectacular ones and the sky is clear. Last night was no exception, except that none of us had the wherewithal to stay up till the peak hour of 11:30, but we made it till 10:30 and it was like the brightest highest-wattage pure white LED-colored light you could imagine.
I'll bet it was really wonderful earlier when it would have been low in the sky, which is when they have the most color and look the largest. I still remember one of the greatest of those showing up over Los Angeles when I just happened to be in a friend's apartment that was high up enough to afford an amazing view of city with the moon over downtown L.A. Actually, I wonder if I still have a photo of that. It'll take forever to find it.
-
It'll take forever to find it.
A persistent problem for me.
Especially when you've stored them with the immersion blender.
Yesterday, bk was asking for reactions to the Oscar telecast. I didn't watch, but a friend of mine shared this:
Especially when you've stored them with the immersion blender.
;D
-
Great book news from MR BK yesterday!
-
Yes it was a lovely SuperMoon last night. So DR ELMORE should hear something about the property before the end of the week.
-
I enjoyed rehearsal last night - I saw most of Act One but couldn't hear much between the masks and the LOUD piano.....but I found my script and my entrance was on time.
Some folks were missing last night - some excused absences and others just decided not to come, I guess.
-
I'm going to make myself some crispy diced hash browns in a little while. I need more of an energetic start to my day, and a large serving of those, with a fried egg sitting on top, are going to be what the doctor ordered.
So don't try to stop me. My mind is made up, damn it.
TOD:
The Wizard of Oz
Meet Me In St. Louis
In The Good Old Summertime
I Could Go On Singing
There are several of her albums I enjoy including Judy at Carnegie Hall, Judy Garland At Home At the Palace, and a CD collection called, I think, JUDY.
I also enjoy watching parts of her television series.
-
I just saw DR JANE's close personal friend Flip Mark on The Lucy Show.
-
I would consider bumping with Wes later, but I really need to sit down at the keyboard and bump with myself.
-
TWO!!
-
It usually takes two to bump. But apparently not, in DR ChasSmith's case.
-
From DR John:
Finished The Worst Hard Time earlier. What an amazing read.
I am glad you liked it. I read it with my Ashland book group and we all had the same reaction.
-
DR George it is nice you have a friend living in your building.
-
I want to see Shelly's dolls.
Which episode? Was he the Kid, or Junior White?
I came up from the basement to find the internet down. It'sa been coming and going regularly for over a year. It wiull be out for 15-30 minutes and then back. The last time I called Spectrum about it, they told me I needed a new modem. So I called Spectrum after I knew it was out for over 45 minutes. The technician I spoke to wanted the modem number, so I crawled onto the floor and under the table, and while I was trying to read the tiny print in semi-darkness, I pulled the cable tpop hard anmd that dislodged the plug to the power cable. I then needed to crawl around with the dustbuster under the computer table before I could try to replug the whole shebang. Once everything was replugged, I was stuck on the floor in an awkward position and unable to raise myself off the floor. No matter what I did, the pain in my hi joint was unbearable and I could not get close to anything stable to use to pull myself up. After what seemed an eternity, I got off the floor and now the pain is horrible.
-
But the internet is back.
-
Whew! That's an adventure DR ELMORE.
I wrote my modem number on a sticker and put it on the bottom of it on my printer so I wouldn't have to go spelunking.
-
Well in all the West Side Story books and videos everyone talks about Richard Beymer - good and bad, and critics are merciless.
But in ALL of this material I have never read exactly how he got the job. Nobody claims to be the one to have hired him to play the part.....Wise, Robbins, the Mirisch Bros.
It seems like he just wandered in and started acting....has anyone read exactly how he came to be cast? In what book?
I have never been a big Garland enthusiast, and I will never understand the cult.
I like these movies:
The Wizard of Oz
The Harvey Girls
The Pirate
Meet Me In St Louis
A Star is Born
Judgment at Nuremberg
Gay Purr-ee
I wish Doris Day had starred in Annie Get Your Gun instead of Garland or Hutton.
Here’s a bit of important information
Don’t add hot salsa to your avocado toast
-
Don’t add hot salsa to your avocado toast
Oh no, you didn't :(
-
And what is the next piece of important information?
I'm just guessing here: don't put out the flames with a fire hose?
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Don’t add hot salsa to your avocado toast
Oh no, you didn't :(
Yikes! But at least you didn't eat nachos just a few days after getting your tonsils out! :o
-
That was a choice I made...a completely WRONG choice...but a choice.
This reminds me of this video that I came across several years ago, and it's incredible. It's in real time and there are no special effects!
And then I found this other video that's during the daytime (but this one was filmed in time-lapse, so it's faster):
DR George it is nice you have a friend living in your building.
Thanks, Jane. She's not actually in my building. She's one building over, but she's still pretty close to my place. :)
Day was terrific as Calamity Jane.
Did you ever see Mary Martin’s TV version of Annie Get Your Gun? She was old as Ethel, but she was game.
Speak for yourself.
Three!
DR JANE he played Junior White.....he looked good in color....but he didn't have enough to do!
-
LOL DR GEORGE.
-
Move to new storage will happen on Monday now. They told me after looking at the stuff that it would fit in three units, so I let the fourth one go.
-
I'm currently updating my long OOP book, ONE GOOD FILM DESERVES ANOTHER: A Pictorial History of the Movie Sequels (1977).
It's a much harder job than I thought.
I recently finished updating THE MUSICAL: From Broadway to Hollywood (1980), which wasn't too bad.
Not looking forward to updating MAKE IT AGAIN, SAM: A Survey of Movie Remakes (1975). That one is going to be a nightmare.
But, my publisher wants them, so...
-
Doing this work is not as easy as it used to be.
-
Thanks. I found it and skipped to Flip. That was just a couple of months before we graduated Jr. High.
I don't know if I need a new chair or a new butt, but after a full work day and 8.5 hours of sitting at a computer, I'm right sore.
I love working from home, but I sure do miss my electric standing desk.
-
I switched allergy meds a few days ago. I’m not sneezing, which is good, but I’m drowsy, which ain’t.
-
Monday Moving Day.
-
DR singdaw I would think it is the chair.
-
Thanks DR JANE. Interesting.
-
Drowsy is not good.
-
Too much stress.
-
Had a homemade wedge - couldn't finish it - just wasn't what I wanted at all. Pulled pork on its way. It's pretty Keto friendly and certainly under the daily carb count, well under. The salad was zero carbs anyway.
We are watching the latest episode of Finding Your Roots on PBS. This episode features Audra McDonald and Mandy Patinkin.
Cool moon videos, DR George.
Ooo...I want to see that one!
In 2016 DR Keven mentioned watching the mini series "You, Me and the Apocalypse" and called it amusing. Last night we watched the first episode and enjoyed it very much. I hope it continues to keep us entertained.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I guess everybody is elsewhere today.
-
Second dance class. It's coming back a little at a time.
-
But it's not entirely there yet.
-
Starting to watch a Cheyenne Jackson movie that was filmed in San Antonio called The One I Wrote for You.
Sweet movie.
Onward ....
Hello, 2 guests!
I think it will...until you get to the end of the first season (a.k.a. end of the series) when it was unceremoniously cancelled. :P
-
But up until then, I certainly enjoyed it, too. :)
-
And now, I'm off. My sister got a new desk chair and needs help to adjust it again, so I'll head over there before I go home.
Until later.
-
We watched DESTRY with Audie Murphy this evening, a remake of the old Jimmy Stewart classic.
Not a bad movie. It was produced by my late publicity client, Stanley Rubin.
I had forgotten that version. I don't know if I've ever seen it.
-
Pulled pork was very good. I'm doing one more week of this nonsense and if I don't see more results than I've seen after these past three weeks of being VERY good, then I'm done and I'll go back to calorie-counting.
-
Is this a special kind of keto pulled pork, BK? Most of the pulled pork I've had is slathered in a sweet sauce.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Movie is over. Sweet flick.
Good night, all.
Oh, I thought it was intended as only 1 season :(
In the how did I miss this department, Sony has release a 120 CD set of Eugene Ormandy - The Columbia Legacy. These are only his mono recordings through 1957. One can only hope that they do the stereo years, too, because so many of those need remastering, but this is incredible and, of course, finally, at long last, includes Ormandy doing The Moldau, the first classical music I ever heard - his performance - and the first classical album I ever purchased (well, my parents purchased it because I wouldn't shut up about it). This has never been on CD (the bulk of this set has never been on CD) and you can't even find it online anywhere. But this will also include much great American music and a couple of Sibelius symphonies that are brilliantly performed, all remastered. Some people got it the week it came out, April 7th and must have got all the copies because Amazon won't have it back until May 5.
-
Oh, crap! Not again.
-
Page 4. Actually just barely 4.5.
-
I got nothing tonight.
-
My sister and her hubby and I met for brunch today.
-
We went to Tim’s Kitchen on South Hill.
-
It was not good, for any of us.
-
It was not good, for any of us.
That's too bad. :-\
-
I went to Red Wagon here in Tumwater for lunch and had their chili burger with fries.
-
I ate it all and it was much, Much, MUCH (that's three muches!) too much!! :P
-
It was all very good, but I shouldn't have eaten it all at one sitting.
-
Hopefully, I'll remember that then next time that I get their fries.
-
I don't normally get the fries, but they have a stamp card and you get a stamp with every visit.
-
My B-I-L ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak was as big as Dorothy Gale’s house in Kansas, and smothered in gravy. However, it was really burnt.
-
When you get 10 stamps, you get a free upgrade to the meal, which includes fries and a drink, so you only have to pay for the burger.
-
And on Double-Stamp Tuesdays, you get two stamps instead of one for your visit. :)
-
My sister ordered the hamburger dip, medium rare. It was really overcooked! It was overcooked for me, and I order mine well-done.
-
Oh, no! I hate it when that happens! Did you send it back, or complain and at least get it for free??
-
I ordered the sausage and cheddar omelet, which was okay. It said it included onions, which is fine with me, but there was more onion than cheese.
-
Unfortunately, the hash browns were like cutting into the Dead Sea Scrolls.
-
Crossing that place off the list.
-
That's really too bad, Tom.
-
I don't remember...have you been to Red Wagon, here in Tumwater? I really like their burgers. :)
I didn’t realize that I was a member of a cult, but I like Judy Garland. When I watched EASTER PARADE a few weeks ago, I realized that is one of her more mature performances.
JUDY AT CARNEGIE HALL
JUDY AT THE PALACE
I COULD GO ON SINGING (I never saw the film, but I often played it on on my radio show.
