Well, you've read the notes, the notes were an ordeal, and now it is time for you to post until the ordeal cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESTORATIVE!
-
BK, that's a great picture of you and Billie Hayes.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
bk, I'm sorry yesterday was so horrid.
It sounds like things will be all right in the end, but what a trial. And a costly one. {{{hugs}}}
-
The capper would have been if the facility hadn't had a fourth unit to rent. I am glad that did not come to pass.
-
I finally decided to try to do something concrete about the inner tube.
I joined Noom (a psychologically-driven weight loss app). I've been at it for a little less than a week.
So far, I'm down 8 pounds.
-
Yeesh. Just thinking about bk's day yesterday gives me the shudders. Thank goodness for friends who are willing to help.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR singdaw, I've seen the NOOM ads. That's fantastic news!
-
BK, I'm very very very happy the move is over and that you survived it.
-
My worst move was July 13, 1980, when I moved into this apartment from 200 West 94th Street. Three or four friends from The Drama Book Shop helped me, and I rented a small U-Haul van from 23rd Street, as I recall. It was a hot and humid day, and as I carted things from the van and wiped the sweat from my eyes, I kept thinking, Jesus, it's a hot day.
-
The next day I learned the temperature was over 100 degrees F. If I had known that on Sunday, I would have simply lay down in front of the van and said, just drive over me.
-
Today ay 11:00 I meet Dr Seth Blacksburg in the Radiolofy Dept. of Lenox Hill Hospital. Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
-
Last night I had a dream about Bram Stoker's Dracula. I don't know now if I were in the dream or watching a movie, but it was very frightening.
-
DR elmore3003 - thinking of you especially today.
~~~INDUSTRIAL-GRADE MEDICAL VIBES & XYLOPHONES~~~ to you!!!!
DR elmore3003 - thinking of you especially today.
~~~INDUSTRIAL-GRADE MEDICAL VIBES & XYLOPHONES~~~ to you!!!!
Thanks! I'm hoping this will be just a meet & greet and discussion of how to proceed.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good news about Noom, Singdaw. Please report back in a couple of weeks
-
May the Fourth be with you.
-
And I’m not even a Star Wats fan.
-
DR elmore3003 - thinking of you especially today.
~~~INDUSTRIAL-GRADE MEDICAL VIBES & XYLOPHONES~~~ to you!!!!
And more vibes, Elmore.
-
I don’t want to work.
-
I want to lay in the sun all day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am tired from just reading BK's account of the day.
Leaving aside the fact that I awoke two hours early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. A nap just might be in order today.
-
Best wishes to DR Elmore on his doctor visit this morning!
-
Except it looks like more thunderstorms first.
-
I am tired from just reading BK's account of the day.
Leaving aside the fact that I awoke two hours early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. A nap just might be in order today.
I long for a nap.
-
Do I care that Melinda and Bill Gates are divorcing? Ask me.
-
Besides, there’s no Melinda. They say for sure.
An Alan Jay Lerner reference.
-
Two!
-
Let's get one thing clear: A nap is always in order.
-
Except, perhaps, when driving.
-
And, speaking of driving, former DR JMK created this delightful meme:
-
Noom Vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Medical vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Postponing the jury summons vibes for DR GINNY.
-
Important envelope, $$ for the notebook, and relaxing vibes for MR BK.
-
TOD:
-
My accent en Francaise caused quite a stir in the chorus last night, the director did not comment.
-
I went to WalMart and looked for a sprinkling can....and looked....and looked.
I asked someone and went where I was directed....only metal cans costing $17.98.
I guess I will go to Lowe's one day this week to buy one. I need to water the area where I planted grass seed.....
-
Tuesday morning greetings! This afternoon I'm meeting in person with my DAR friends for the first time since March, 2020.
-
Postponing the jury summons vibes for DR GINNY.
Thank you, DR JRand.
-
Doctor visit vibes to DR Elmore!
-
Good morning.
-
I think that's about all I have to say.
-
That's our DR Jrand70.... Causing a stir wherever he goes. :)
-
From DR Laura:
I had to reserve a rental car for later this summer. Holy cow! A compact for $85 per day?
I read the car rental companies sold many of their cars during covid and there is a shortage. I gather that has also upped the prices.
We considered renting a car while we were in Chicago. Since the hotel wanted $45 a night to park it we decided we really didn't need a car. We were right.
-
I hope Wae-Ling is feel better today.
-
From DR George:
Really?? You're complaining about posting when we could be on page 85 if you had broken up that last YUGE post into smaller posts! :o
:))
-
I am back from a wonderful session at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr Bricksburg is a relatively young doctor, a bit of a pudgy one but so friendly and welcoming. I had a great sense of comfort and a feeling I was in good hands with him. Before I saw him, I was examined - temperature and blood pressure - and interviewed by his nurse Gail, who was equally wonderful.
I will begin treatment with hormone injections for te next several months. Dr Blacksburg estimated three months before radiation, which will be every day for six weeks!
-
BK, that's a great picture of you and Billie Hayes.
I agree.
-
I finally decided to try to do something concrete about the inner tube.
I joined Noom (a psychologically-driven weight loss app). I've been at it for a little less than a week.
So far, I'm down 8 pounds.
Former DR Jason has done well with Noom. Congrats on your good start.
-
Do I care that Melinda and Bill Gates are divorcing? Ask me.
I feel bad. Thirty three years is a long time and they worked together to make a better world.
-
Then he introduced me to his social worker, Laura, my new BFF. We had a nice 30-45 minute visit, and she is going to set me up with Access-A-Ride, which wil pick me up take me anywhere in the city for $2.50 a ride, so a roundtrip to Lenox Hill for radiation treatments will cost me $5.00 instead of $40+ by taxi. She is also going to help me with a rent reduction and set me up with PAWS: https://pawsny.org/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw4cOEBhDMARIsAA3XDRjpNFiKjXZTO3Uzz3u654DqN47GCNzZeKujsNWx0yf3ToX9YOEaBxwaAkg5EALw_wcB
-
I'm not sure how much help PAWS NY will be, but they sound like an organization to which I would be happy to belong.
-
Bruce congrats on finding the missing notebook.
-
DR elmore it is about time someone set you up with Access-A-Ride. Vibes it will continue long past your radiation treatments.
-
With all our moves, including helping kids move in and out of storage units, what happened is more on the lines of what I expected. Not knowing how much was to be moved I hoped my thoughts were way off and Bruce was not underestimating the reality of the move.
-
Bruce, from my perspective...congrats on completing the move yesterday :)
-
Good vibes with the rest of organizing and cleaning out.
-
I think that's about all I have to say.
I sometimes long for your brevity. Alas …
We went to Ir’land
Persuaded us to go and kiss the Blarney Stone
But we missed the kiss of the boyfriend back home.
Having Tomato and Toasted Fennel soup fir lunch. Quite delicious after 2 days of aging.
-
Mostly good news from DR elmore3003. I was hoping for a radiation "seed" implant.
-
But, doctor knows best.
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. Guess I'll go see if the important envelope arrived and if it has I'll do banking and then I'm meeting the helper's mom at two.
Congrats, Singdaw! I've seen the commercials and have always wondered how it works. So...how does it work?
-
May the Fourth be with you.
And also to you! ;)
-
I think I'll take out my "de-specialized" version of Star Wars and watch it tonight. ;D
-
bk, you can sign up for daily email notification through USPS. Each day they email you the scans of any first-class mail items, so you can see what mail has actually arrived.
That's fantastic, Larry!!
-
DR George - Noom is basically an app. The program is basic calorie counting, with a lot of psychology and motivational concepts thrown in. You spend about 10 minutes per day completing "course work," and of course logging everything you eat and drink, exercise, etc.
DR George, that's not correct. I have no idea how many hormone injections there wll be, but they will occur over the next three months. The radiation treatments are 10 minues long for six weeks, five - or seven? - days a week. These will not occure until the hormone treatment is over.
-
Back from happily picking up the important envelope, which did indeed arrive yesterday. Then banking was, also thankfully, a breeze in both banks - the whole thing took about ten minutes between the two banks. Now I'm home and in forty-five minutes I shall be on my way to the storage place to meet the helper's mom.
Finishing up listening to the Ormandy Die Fledermaus in English - recording sounds very good. Features Lily Pons, Richard Tucker, etc.
Glad to hear you had such a good visit to the Doctor, DR elmore!
-
Glad your moving ordeal is over, BK!
Finishing up listening to the Ormandy Die Fledermaus in English - recording sounds very good. Features Lily Pons, Richard Tucker, etc.
That was my first recording of Fledermaus, 1963, I think. I like Howard Dietz' lyrics and Garson Kanin's dialogue is good, too ("So young and already a Prince!"). The production was to be conducted originally by Fritz Reiner; Kanin directed. At a rehearsal of Act Two, Kanin wanted the chorus to sit in the "Happy Days" section of the Act Two Finale, and Reiner threw a fit and declared the chorus must stand. Rudolf Bing listened to both sides, and the next day Ormandy arrived to replace Reiner. I believe that might have been the end of Reiner's Met conducting. I have an mp3 of the first Met broadcast with Ormandy conducting as well.
Let’s move on
-
Four!
-
DR Elmore, I'm so glad you had a great visit with the radiologist and his social worker!
-
Those 1950s Met recordings on Columbia are great, but it's especially nice having that Fledermaus with Ormandy.
-
:)
-
Well mostly good news DR ELMORE..... When I had radiation treatments every day it was indeed 5 days per week - Monday through Friday.
-
Get The Envelope Vibes for MR BK.
-
TCM has Hairspray, Muriel's Wedding, and Georgy Girl on tonight....I think I will be watching.
-
I spelled someone's name wrong in the HUNCHBACK story.....oh dear.
It has been corrected, but of course said someone doesn't bother to post THAT on Facebook.
-
Ugh.....the TCM triple feature will be hosted by the irritating and biased Alisha Malone.....well I can mute her comments.....
-
A friend just began her second week with the same schedule.
-
Gratuitous Post #100!
-
Back from the storage place, she's got the lay of the land and she pulled some CDs she needed and found it similar to what she's been doing, so hopefully that's all fine now. But shockingly, there were two boxes we couldn't find at all and I truly thought we'd covered everything. One I lucked into finding right away in the excess storage unit, but the other one is definitely in the back of that unit so we can't get to it until we move those additional 60 boxes out of there. I was sure I had one here but I looked and cannot find it, which is odd since I know we re-pressed it about a year ago.
-
DR Elmore, I am, of course, pleased that you now have a medical plan in place, but I’m almost more thrilled about these ancillary services. Is Access-a-Ride only for your medical trips or can you use it for all your transportation needs?
-
I got out late for my afternoon walk as I took a long time to figure out how to order a Nintendo switch gift certificate for online games. When you normally purchase a gift there is a different address to put in. I thought this would offer a new email address for sending the gift.
-
Fortunately I accidentally hit "purchase" while I was still trying to figure it out, otherwise I might still be pondering it ;D
-
I copied the info and made a nice 12th birthday gift card and emailed it to the birthday girl's mother. Phew, all looked good.
-
I then rushed off for a walk to work up an appetite before dinner.
-
I didn't get too far when Bryan text he was free to chat.
-
I ran home and we had a nice chat with Bryan & Freyja.
-
Kate got her second shot today. I think she was resting.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad BK's day went smoothly today--the important envelope, banking, helper's mom.
-
Larry, such good news to hear that you were so pleased with your new doctor and his team. I hope that all goes smoothly, knowing you're in such good hands.
And much-needed help with rides and so on. I often think how many patients need help that goes beyond the doctor's expertise. Many practical issues to be considered.
-
I finally decided to try to do something concrete about the inner tube.
I joined Noom (a psychologically-driven weight loss app). I've been at it for a little less than a week.
So far, I'm down 8 pounds.
Congrats on the 8 pounds. Vibes for continued weight loss.
-
TTFN.
-
they want $20 to watch the Rebecca Luker tribute. I might have donated that, if they hadn't charged it.
So, I'm watching the Kristen Chenoweth-Peter Gallagher revival of On the 20th Century. Parts of it are very good. Andy Karl is a great Bruce Granite.
-
Thanks for the vibes, folks!
-
The modus operandi of DR elmore3003's kitties:
-
I just saw a recipe online for a blueberry marscapone tart that I can't eat but looks quite drool-worthy.
I tucked it away for sometime when I might be called upon to provide a fabulous dessert.
-
Good night, friends.
-
FIVE!!!!!
-
Freyja now puts her arms out and shrugs when something is all done. She did this right after we left the video chat ;D
-
This is cool...Tom may have already seen these pictures, but I haven't: Titanic's secrets revealed in stunning period photos (https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/titanic-s-secrets-revealed-in-stunning-period-photos/ss-BB1cPJHm).
I don't know what actual "secrets" are revealed, though. ::)
-
And now, it's time for me to head out. I'm going to my sister's for a bit. She needs help moving a little fence that holds the chickens, so that shouldn't be too difficult.
Be back later.
-
This is my life.
-
Off to soak away some grime.
-
Back from a fun dinner at the Coral Cafe - I had the tri-salad - excellent. Marshall was there, and the fellow who got a ton of the vocal scores and first editions was a really nice guy and we all had fun gabbing like normal people sitting in a restaurant.
-
Then I bought a lemon meringue pie and delivered it to the Havertys - Mrs. Haverty was back in the hospital this past weekend and I thought they could use a fun treat - that's their favorite pie. She's feeling MUCH better now.
-
Hello.
-
Not much to report
-
We went out to the roadhouse and had a nice steak dinner
-
I have to fast now because Thursday I’m scheduled for everyone’s most favorite of medical examinations.
-
Since I have constant reflux problems if I don’t take a omeprozeale everyday the doctor decided she’ll take a look through both sides
-
So that should be fun
-
I really dread everything about this
-
Which is why I’ve been putting it off fir a while
-
Like a couple of years
-
Well a few years
-
So like...ten years....
-
My GP gave me a stern talking to at my last physical and told me to GET IT DONE
-
I ought a ticket to the Rebecca Luker ALS fundraiser
-
But I ended up missing it because we ended up at dinner
-
Only when it was too late it occurred to me I could have given the link to someone else to use
-
Then I bought a lemon meringue pie and delivered it to the Havertys - Mrs. Haverty was back in the hospital this past weekend and I thought they could use a fun treat - that's their favorite pie. She's feeling MUCH better now.
I hope she’s better. But is there any leftover pie?
-
But I ended up missing it because we ended up at dinner
It’s money for ALS.
-
Good night, all.
I am glad she is better.
-
The pie sounds delicious.
-
I really dread everything about this
You won't be awake which is good. The drink, of course, is the worst part. My first endoscopy didn't bother me much while my throat hurt after the second one. Good luck.
-
My GP gave me a stern talking to at my last physical and told me to GET IT DONE
YES GET IT DONE!
-
'night
-
And now, it's time for me to head out. I'm going to my sister's for a bit. She needs help moving a little fence that holds the chickens, so that shouldn't be too difficult.
Be back later.
Well, the moving of the fence happened before I got to my sister's, so I only had to help move the gazebo frame, which was quite light and very easy to move. :)
-
I then went to Taco Bell and ate in the restaurant!
-
It's one of the few that has opened its lobby for indoor dining.
-
Listening to music.
-
I was the only one eating inside, which I didn't mind.
-
More mysterious lights in the sky over Washington state tonight. They had several films of the string of lights in the sky. They were seen all the way to Portland, OR.
-
It's so nice to sit inside and have a meal. Just like the old days before the world went mad.
-
Vibes and prayers for my dear friend, Larry.
-
Listening to a William Schuman symphony - Ormandy championed a lot of American composers, as did Bernstein, but Ormandy and others were there long before Lenny.
-
And then I wrote...
-
I'm hoping test books arrive soon. Meanwhile, Amazon has hardcover and softcover available, and they also have the eBook.
-
Ugh.....the TCM triple feature will be hosted by the irritating and biased Alisha Malone.....well I can mute her comments.....
Who is she biased against, or for?
-
What?
-
I can't hear you?
-
I can only hear Schuman, not Schumann.
-
What a difference an N makes.
-
So, I'm watching the Kristen Chenoweth-Peter Gallagher revival of On the 20th Century. Parts of it are very good. Andy Karl is a great Bruce Granite.
I understood that all the money raised from ticket sales went to ALS.
Thanks for the vibes, folks!
Diet vibes to DR singdaw!
A lot of those photos of the interior rooms on the Titanic were actually taken of the Titanic’s sister ship, the Olympic. Basically the ships were identical, except for a few extensions to make the Titanic the largest ship in the world.
Oh, my goodness! I had no idea! I totally missed out.
Amazon lists the Kindle edition at the same price as the hardback. In past years, the Kindle edition of your books cost less than the paper edition. Simply was only $10 for the Kindle.
Well, you probably don’t drive around looking at the sky.
True...very true! ;)
-
BK, do you set the Kindle prices or does Amazon?
-
That's VERY weird - I'll check on it. Kindle price shouldn't be more than ten bucks.
