Those links were fun DR ELMORE.
DR JohnG, I haven't read about Ambroise Thomas and his opera Hamlet in some time, but my memory is that the original ending of the opera was the coronation of Hamlet as King of Denmark, and his final lines were something like "My love is dead and I am king." This ending was revised when the opera was produced outside of France; they knew the English audiences would laugh their buitts off.
I do love Ophelia's mad scenel it;s not just a coloratura spectacular, but it reaches real pathos by the end.
Thank you, Singdaw, for inadvertently planting that ear worm.

PROCEDURE vibes for vixmom today!
Hopefully she's already done by now, and is happily refilling at IHOP.
TOD:
Velveeta, Kraft American.
I am not a very sophisticated Cheese person. Quelle fromage.
My favorite is Emmentaler, a type of Swiss.
I'd better add it to my account before I lose it! :o
Fortunately (for him), when he sent a message asking permission, he received back almost immediately a reply telling him to GET OFF THAT SHIP - NOW!
DR JANE I got my watering can at Menard's.
What the hell did I do? I went to fix something and deleted my post instead:Damn! I forgot. More vibes for DR vixmom!

DR ChasSmith, I’m so sorry to hear of your father’s passing and hope next week’s trip goes smoothly and brings you comfort.
I'm also fond of Thomas' mangling of Goethe. Mignon, which has wonderful music and great tunes. The overture is beautifully orchestrated:

It also contains my favorite French coloratura aria:

So anyway...
I'm almost positive I didn't post about it then because a lot was going on at the time, but my dad died at the end of January last year, literally at the start of tech week for my last show before Covid. He had taken a bad fall, which so often brings older people closer to their end if there are other complications. It was just a couple of months before he would have turned 95.
He'd made plans to donate his body to the UC medical center, just as my mom had done 25 years before that, and we initially planned a memorial service to be held in May (last year), since that pesky coronavirus thing was going to hold things up for a couple of months. Ha! A year and a couple of postponements later, we are finally doing it THIS May, next Saturday the 15th. So I'm off to Cincinnati next Wednesday, for that and to stop in to see a few other relatives (all vaccinated, etc.) for the first time in a couple of years. It'll be a short but good trip.

That would not be good at all. I didn't realize you could add it right away. I figured you had a code to use as you ordered things. Adding it right away is a much better system.

Nine hours. I dream of nine hours of sleep.

Uh....MANK. I really thought I was going to see a movie about the writing of "Citizen Kane" - and I got a little bit about that. BUT mostly it was an excuse to equate an election in California in 1934 to the last couple of elections in the U.S.
It seemed rather unnecessary to tie these two events together and turned the movie into kind of a slog for me. And for all the praise for Amanda What'shername, her performance seemed sort of TV-movie like to me and didn't seem to capture much of the essence of Marion Davies.....sort of like Carol Lynley as Harlow......
I'm now back at work with a new night guard for when I sleep at night. ::)

Yes. The card was printed from Amazon and that had the code right there, so I just entered the code and the entire balance is now showing in my account. It'll be used automatically, unless I specify to use another payment source...which I won't. :)

The colonoscopy went well, no polyps and they said I don’t need to return for 10 years!
So vibes would be a nice thing
Vixdad offered to take me out to eat but I was too groggy so he brought me home
Absolutely go first thing in the morning.
Hope you're enjoying it!
And the word of the day is: SAGACIOUS!
For probably the first ten years of my life, the only cheese (or "cheese") I knew was Velveeta.
I'm a little better now, thank you.
At some point, swiss cheese came into my life. I know I was crazy about ham and swiss sandwiches in college. Later, muenster and cheddar became additional favorites. Suddenly, fondues were all the rage and I loved the Gruyere or Emmenthaler or whatever was used. I also just remembered liking those little Laughing Cow cheeses during my earlier days in L.A. Haven't had those in years.
I never got to like the stinky cheeses, but most others are great. I do stay away from "American" now, except for cheeseburgers because it's such a good melting cheese. I mean, cheese product. Grilled cheese sandwiches, too, but only as a single layer helper along with my typical combination of cheddar and swiss.

It almost sounds like someone had a premonition though they likely just wanted him to return to work.
Do you know if the nice couple survived?
