Well, you've read the notes, the notes were out there in the dark, and now it is time for you to post until the out there in the dark cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ANODYNE!
-
A Very Happy Mother's Day to All Mothers and Mothers-by-Proxy!! :D
-
And now, it's time for me to go to bed so that I can arise early enough to get some cream cheese and some more bagels.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a pretty good night's sleep and no stabbing pains. The cats were well-behaved, and I remain floored by this. I had a strange dream about an unemployment lapse, a refund check, and my mother that makes no sense this morning, and I woke with the verse to "People" from Funny Girl running through my head.
-
And Happy Mother's Day!
-
This is my mother's 1941 high school graduation photo.
Much as I loved her, she was an unhappy lady, tormented by too many demons to care much for those who loved her. My father, who came from a broken home and - perhaps unwisely - would not let that happen to his family, suffered from her realization that she'd married for all the wrong reasons, and my brothers and I suffered from her passive-aggressive patterns of child rearing and depression. I cannot say I miss her, but i did love her.
I hope she's at peace.

Today I am planning another ME day and doing as little as possible.
-
I had quite a nice ME day yesterday. At 3:00 I was part of a ZOOM meeting with the 2004 Goodspeed cast of Where's Charley? and Tony and Gen Walton. It was fun to see people I had not seen in years and to meet some of their children.
-
Good morning, sll!

Wow. 2004? Some of them look so young!
-
Goof Good morning, friends.
-
Very happy Mother's Day wishes to those who partake.
-
The night flew by like a gazelle singing "Never, My Love."
-
Choosy mothers choose Jiff. So I hear.
-
Or, if you're into it, brownie edges with frosting for dipping.
-
I had a very leisurely getting up today, as I did yesterday
Several weeks ago we decided to convert Mikey from three meals per day to just two, while keeping his daily intake the same because there's no reason to reduce that. Our reasons were that it's better for them to have two scheduled meals instead of three, and it would lighten our workload a bit.
We thought the process would be harder than it turned out to be, because he's always been a demanding sort. I suppose the first week was a little iffy, but after two weeks you could see his internal time clock adjusting enough to give us hope of success. Now the process is pretty well complete, and things are calmer here overall. A really nice benefit is the somewhat calmer mornings, and this weekend he actually just laid in bed with me till whenever I was going to be ready to get my ass up, without even going downstairs to read the riot act to the others.

The one time I sort of watched the American remake of The Vanishing, it was playing on TCM or something and I dozed off about half or two-thirds of the way through. Then I began waking to these really weird moments that I thought might have been dreams combined with what was on the screen. But these scenes were so weird and awful that I've never felt the slightest inclination since then to watch it again wide awake. I wonder what Jeff Bridges' honest opinion of it is, or was then.
-
The only things on the agenda for today are a walk, most likely a nap, and a phone call to mom.
-
:)

I just read this on the Internet, so it must be true.
Apparently, the reason you cry when you chop onions is that the chemical in the onion is attracted to the nearest source of water, which is usually your eyes. So if you place a wet paper towel on your chopping board, so the theory goes, the onion chemical will gravitate to that, and not your eyes.
I wonder if it really works?
Hmm... a cursory search on Google indicates that there just might be some validity to this.
-
But again, it's on the Internet. So who knows?
-
Happy Mother's Day to DR Jane and DR Laura, DR Vixmom and any other HHW mothers!
-
Interesting DR singdaw. Perhaps I shall try this next time.
-
Happy Mother's Day for the celebrants and the celebrees.
-
I shall now campaign to have my new invented word put into the dictionary.
-
DR GEORGE you can find BZZR Tv on Pluto streaming.
-
Page Two.
-
Good morning.
-
I celebrated Mother's Day by sleeping in until 5 a.m.
-
I am still tired from the escapades on Friday night.
-
The church alarm went off at 10 p.m., waking me up. I was there until 2 a.m. trying to figure out why the alarm wouldn't turn off.
The alarm company guy finally figured it out, but the thing rang until past midnight. For a while I stood at the panel hitting the reset button, which would quiet the alarm for about two minutes before it would start up again.
-
Happy Mother's Day for the celebrants and the celebrees.
That's a good way of putting it!

I'll try that next time. I'd always heard that you can chop them next to your running faucet for some relief, and I've tried that, with mixed results. Maybe a combination of the two?
-
Off to run some errands.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Happy Mother's Day to all the HHW Moms!
-
Thank you for the Mothers Day wishes
-
I went to in person church today where we were allowed to sing (albeit with our masks on) for the first time since March 2020
-
Our voices haven’t improved in that time
-
I was also the lay reader
-
I was allowed to rake off my mask to read once I was in the pulpit
-
We’re going over to my Moms in about an hour and a half from now
-
I’ll be making a baked ham, turnips, peas and carrots and roasted new potatoes for dinner.
Dessert is assorted cheesecake slices
-
I bought her a selection of Godiva chocolates, gift cards to two local takeout places, (1 Chinese and 1 Italian) and a selection of Penzey’s spices
-
The Vixter works on Sundays but texted first thing this morning that she’ll call after work tonight
-
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms, and to the moms of all you
-
:)

From DR TCB:
How do you know that the salmon had not been frozen?
I was referring to those horrid, stinky frozen patties vs fresh grilled.
-
Happy Mother's Day to DR Jane and DR Laura, DR Vixmom and any other HHW mothers!
Thank you DR Jennifer.

GROAN!

It has been a busy morning.
-
First we had a nice video chat with Bryan & Freyja. Kate was napping since Freyja got her up early today.
-
Then Keith made matzo brei for brunch.
-
Then we had a nice video chat with Craig.
-
Thanks for all the Mother's Day wishes.

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
Our voices haven’t improved in that time
That's so Lutheran.
-
Going to watch the Met tonight, if I remember. The production is Handel's Agrippina and the star is the woman who played Lucia last night, Brenda Rae.
-
I'm tired. And I'm only going to get more tired.
-
I'm off to a dance class.
-
Thank you for the Mother's Day wishes.
-
The family gathered here after church. I got another batch of grape tomatoes, so I made the Tic Toc dish. Young Grandson discovered string cheese.
-
For the first time, Mom and Dad left Grandson here with us while Mom took a driving lesson around the neighborhood. He said bye-bye and played without any problem.
-
Where is the video of the kid discovering string cheese ;)
-
I am deciding between walking or reading.
-
I should walk but I think I will read.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Had a chicken Caesar from Gelson's - very good. And got a little cube steak for a light meal later or maybe even tomorrow.
-
Watched a movie.
-
Been lazy.
-
Had a nice telephonic conversation, too.
-
Started Agrippina. It’s 3 hours long. But the beginning is fun.
-
This a modern day production. The Nero character is covered in ink and is channeling the Joker.
-
I'm off to a dance class.
Lettuce dance.
-
Your moment of Zen.
Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes.
Here is one of them:
-
I have been reading.
-
For Mother's Day, kids prepared a meal for mom.
Behold, peanut butter and jelly devilled eggs!
-
I'm afraid it's too long a way to the next page for me.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Bed before page four?
-
Questionable priorities, if you ask me.
-
And I’m sure you didn’t ask.
-
Onward
-
Four!
-
Hello, 1 guest!
-
Stick around for the jokes!
A Barbra Streisand/Bob Merrill reference
-
The countertenor from The Exterminating Angel is in Agrippina. Handel must have liked them.
-
Joyce diDonato singing with a flask in hand is a funny sight to see.
-
Where is everyone?
-
The opera is heading into its third hour. Lots of harpsichord.
-
It’s not like more cowbell.
-
Made two soups today. One was a Thai Chicken Noodle, which tastes great, with coconut milk and a serrano pepper from the garden.
-
The other was Celery and Cashel Blue Cheese, which I have to eat sparingly. The blue cheese slightly aggravated my mold allergy.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Okay, I wonder what Handel would have thought of Nero snorting cocaine before his showstopping mad solo.
-
I find it quite funny.

Yum! I'll take some, please!

I don't know what that means, but thanks for the info, Jrand.

Very nice.
-
Well, I got the garlic-and-chive cream cheese and the bagels, but they were out of the cheddar cheese bagels that my sister wanted.
-
I did get some cheddar cheese bagels yesterday, so she did have some, but she just wanted some more.
-
Oh, well...she understood, and she did eat at least one today, so it's all good. :)
-
My niece's other grandmother and aunt also came over, so there were seven of us...and we're all vaccinated!
-
A lot of chatting and some eating occurred.
-
The mini cheesecakes were a hit!
-
After eating, the other grandmother and aunt left and we played...what else??
-
Phase 10.
-
I don't remember if my mom or my niece won, but I didn't.
-
We finished the game just as I had to leave to go downtown to usher for the film of a local production of The Sleeping Beauty.
-
The local ballet company filmed in full costume in the empty theater and it was actually very well done.
-
And now, since we're finally here...
-
5ive!!!!!
-
They didn't have any super close-ups of anyone..it was mostly wide shots with medium slightly close-up shots, when necessary.
-
I think BK would've enjoyed that aspect of it...if not the production itself. ;)
-
After that finally ended, I went back to my sister's to get a piece of the chocolate lush that my mom made for my birthday on Wednesday.
-
We didn't eat it all, so it was saved for today.
-
Several people had some of this (including me) and it was still good.
-
My sister cut me a piece, but I couldn't take it to the theater with me, so I picked it up afterward, and now it's in my fridge to be enjoyed over the next several days. ;D
-
Now, I'm home and moving video files from various computers to memory cards to other cards to other computers. ::)
-
I'm also watching some YouTube videos.
-

A lovely photo. I was going to say I was crazy about the photo.

That looks like the possible love child between Sasha and Buddy.
-
Although, that is not a possibility.
-
Thank, God!!
-
Today I worked on my income tax return.
-
Even Rosemary’s Baby couldn’t help.
-
Good luck, Tom!
-

Wait! This was the showing of the film, or the filming of the show?
-

I once dated a chocolate lush.

It was a showing of the film.
-
Don't forget to read!
-
Reading is very important.
-
I read that in a book once.
-
I think the book was called Reading is Very Important.
-
It was excellent.
