Well, you've read the notes, the notes were cubed, and now it is time for you to post until the cubed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JOCULAR!
-
I didn't get to read anything yesterday, but I'll definitely be able to today. :)
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I emjoyed DIE HARD, but I haven't seen it in years. I also enjoyed DIE HARD 2, but I found the crashing airplane a little too alarming since at that time I was doing a lot of flying.
-
At 8:00 I will reschedule my eye appointment, and then I will hopefully have a quiet day.
-
DR John G, I thought Joyce di Donato was playing Aggrippina, not a countertenor, or, as my friend Peter Schickele would say, a bargain countertenor.
Makes me want to watch I Claudius again.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Kathleen Battle and Jessye Norman, cutting it up:

-
Oh I do love I Claudius. We haven’t watched that in a couple of years, I should pull out the dvds
-
I loved Alan Rickman in everything
The Harry Potter movies
Galaxy Quest
Die Hard
Love, Actually
Come to mind immediately
-
I remember enjoying Bruce Willis in the TV show Moonlighting back in the day
Die Hard
Death Becomes Her
Come to mind
-
Sorry I didn’t check in last night
-
Dinner at moms was a success
-
But it was a full day
-
Up at 7 , two church services
Prepping all the food items
Hauling everything to mom’s
Cooking
Eating
Cleaning up
Dividing leftovers between the two households
Hauling the rest of the stuff home
By then it was 8:30 and the Vixter called
We chatted about an hour
Then I fell asleep
-
I could have gotten 11 posts out of that
-
Work calls
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hope everyone else had a pleasant day yesterday
-
And vibes for a pleasant day today

~~~A FEW MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for bk around these parts!!!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
In addition to getting ready for my trip, I've got to work on my taxes today.
Let's have a bit "Oy!", shall we?
-
If my memory is correct, and this one doesn't come with a guarantee, I saw Die Hard when it opened at Century City, which would have been appropriate. Maybe BK can confirm or deny that it opened there?
-
Taxes. OY!
-
I do love Die Hard, and I've never seen it often enough to OD on it. Never saw any of the sequels. I'd be happy to give at least the second film a chance.
I've always found Bruce Willis enjoyable. I don't know Alan Rickman like the rest of you seem to, so for me he's Hans Gruber, period, but I should look over his filmography. I do know he played Judge Turpin in the Sweeney Todd movie, which believe or not, I've never watched all the way through.
-
Good morning!
-
I just finished writing about the DIE HARD movies in my upcoming updated book on movie sequels, ONE GOOD FILM DESERVES ANOTHER, which will be out in a few months.
Originally published in 1977, it's been OOP for years.
-
Good morning.
-
John G., my daughter gave me a cookbook titled "Procrastibaking: 100 Reicpes for Getting Nothing Done in the Most Delicious Way Possible."
Sounds like fun!
-
Oh my, those "deviled" eggs looked disgusting ;D
-
The bear in the tub was cute.
-
Dinner at moms was a success
Nice.
-
Good morning.
-
DR John how is your mother doing?
-
Yes lovely new avatar from DR LAURA.
I have to say that I agree with DR JANE about the eggs.
-
I have completed one of the writing projects I have.....hopefully I can finish the other one tomorrow and Wednesday.
-
Good Morning - and it looks like we are back to Monday. Yesterday was fun, spent time with mom and some family in the afternoon and that made my day.
Back to work. 5 more weeks of school and they hours go by quite quickly. I guess that's good and bad since there are still things to get done before the end of the school yar - but oh how far we've come this year. Typing this, I'm listening to the kids on the playground and thinking back to September when there were no kids on the playground or even here at school. We'll be talking about 2020 for a long time, I'm sure.
Excellent!
Tonight we’re going to the Cradle of Aviation museum, which is situated at the firmer location of the airport from which Lindbergh made his historic flight to Paris, to hear a lecture by one of our local astronauts, Bill Shepherd.
Interesting notes on Godspell, or The Godspell, as it was originally called.
I love the title.
Taxes are done, and e-filed.
OY!
On the one hand I'm getting a refund, but I owe the other hand more than that amount. Ouch. But last year was an unusual one, and I knew the fates wouldn't be as kind as in some years. I'm just applying the refund to the other guy's take, and telling myself that all I'm really paying is the difference. Yeah, that's it. That's my story. So don't go harshing my mellow with reminders of reality. :)
Somehow this doesn't surprise me ;)
Went to go to the mail place - dead battery. I'd left the trunk open while with Grant and family for forty-five minutes - could that be the reason? Don't know why it would have been. AAA will be here by 3:05.
That was great.
-
Car battery vibes for bK.
-
Three!
-
bk, sorry about your car battery. Frustrating.
-
Car battery vibes for bK.
Ditto!
-
Not having reliable transportation is just worry-making and draining.
-
AAA got here very fast - battery is charging up and I'll leave in about fifteen or twenty minutes. It was indeed because I stupidly left the trunk open for forty-five minutes. Guess that's like leaving your headlights on.
-
Well, it took 2 hours and 45 minutes, but the fire alarm is fixed.
-
You must be insane from the noise, Laura. I know I would be.
Yes, if there are trunk lights.
-
Eight hours of meetings today. From 8:30 to 5 with only a half-hour off.
-
Well, it took 2 hours and 45 minutes, but the fire alarm is fixed.
Thank goodness!
-
Back from picking up packages. I let the car run for twenty minutes before driving, getting to the mail place took ten minutes, I left it running while I picked up packages, and then another ten minutes back to home. Hopefully, that got it fully charged, but I'll go take a little drive later or at least let it run for fifteen minutes.
-
Now, which dear dear reader sent me a lovely DVD of La Fille Mal Gardee? There was nothing but the DVD and no return address.
-
I need a vacation.
-
So, does anybody care about the Golden Globes?
-
DR John I think you missed my question this morning. How is your mother doing?
-
:)
-
I don't know anything about pacemakers. Is the installation an outpatient procedure?
I don't know if anyone else likes Norm Lewis, but the Lincoln Center YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5stUbrIlkm5UTMPgVm2dsg) is streaming a live concert of his. :)
Thanks. That's more interesting than the movie i watching.
-
DR John I think you missed my question this morning. How is your mother doing?
She seems to be doing OK. She's tired a lot, but that's nothing new. I think she's learning how normalizing it is and how she hasn't been normal in terms of her heart rhythm for a while.
-
Was DR ChasSmith traveling today?
-
I think maybe tomorrow.
-
I started to watch Crash, and well, it sort of creeped me out. Which a David Cronenberg movie is supposed to do.
Vibes she feels better & less tired every day.
-
No. This Crash isn't the crashing boor that won the Oscar. This is the one about the people who are sexually turned on by car crashes.
-
I didn't have time to call her today. I will have to do that tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a break in the day.
-
One more ...
-
Four!
No one can tell me that a full day of meetings is a productive use of your time, DR John G.!
It wasn't.
I missed about half of Norm's concert. I hope they repost it later. I would love to hear the rest. I liked his versions of "Waiting for Life to Begin" and "No One Is Alone."
Darn. I didn't realize that it was going to be removed as soon as it was over. I "liked" it and was going to watch it tonight when I got home. :(
-
I have a feeling they'll post it later.
We were watching an episode of The Carol Burnett Show that originally aired in 1975. The guest star was Shirley MacLaine.
There was an extended duet/production number. They started out with "Gorgeous," from The Apple Tree, but then, to my surprise, they morphed into "I Love to Dance," by Billy Goldenberg, which formed the backbone of his score for Ballroom. But that show didn't premiere on Broadway until 3 years later, in 1978.
That's pretty cool.
-
And now, it's time to head home.
Be back later.
-
Was I Love to Dance in the Queen of the Stardust Ballroom? That's what Ballroom is based on.
-
Had a little homemade salad earlier - lettuce, red onion, salami, provolone, and two tablespoons of Bob's ranch dressing. VERY good. I'll probably have a couple of eggs for my evening snack.
Was it used in Queen of the Stardust Ballroom? he did the score to that, too, with the Bergmans.
I didn't see your comment.
The thunderstorm was started to roll in. It wasn't supposed to get here until 2 or 3 a.m.
-
I guess it got impatient.
-
Good night, all.
-
We had a fun time at the lecture
-
Then on the way home we stopped at a diner for something to eat since we missed dinner
-
It felt so decadent, so 2019
-
Finished with my viewing and with my viewing I'm finished.
-
Letting the motor car run for a bit.
-
Just five or ten minutes.
-
Listening to a marvelous violin concerto by Paganini.
-
Very tuneful.
-
Uploading more CDs - I'm on 87 out of 120.
-
So, there's a light at the end of the uploading tunnel.
-
In the Ormandy set, starting in late 1955, the sound becomes even better - that's when they moved to their new recording venue and where all those magnificent stereo recordings were made. Apparently, up to the move, the Columbia engineers always struggled with how to mic the older venue. The difference is amazing, actually. It's like you're there.
-
Well, gosh!
-
The end of the line.
-
Thank goodness BK posted, or we would still be on page 4.
-
Well, not now.
-
I cannot find my DVD of SOUTH PACIFIC with Kelli O’Hara!
-
I think it must have been stolen.
-
Perhaps I should call the Puyallup Police Department?
-
Oh Hell, they wouldn’t help.
-
Perhaps it is still in one of the boxes that are in the storage closet (also, called the third bedroom).
-
I thought maybe I would find it on You Tube, but no such luck.
-
There are several musical numbers from the show, but not the entire show.
-
Maybe I can find it somewhere else.
-
I suppose I could get it if I subscribe to PBS.
-
Well, no, that would cost money.
-
And is George reading? He did say he would. And yet, no trace of George. By George, perhaps he'll stop by.
-
TCB, what's going on with YOUR book?
-
I really hope you'll finish it.
-
And is George reading? He did say he would. And yet, no trace of George. By George, perhaps he'll stop by.
I'm here.
-
I did some reading during lunch...probably three chapters.
-
I read a couple more as I was eating dinner.
-
I
should will be able to finish it tomorrow.
-
:)
-
The last thing I read was Harry just getting his big idea of what happened!
-
Good amount of reading!
