I finished listening to the last thirty minutes of Tristan und Isolde this morning. I find the music more dramatic than the drama onstage. It may be what I dislike about Wagner. When I saw Parsifal back in college, the lead sang for 45 minutes and by the time he finished, all he had done visually was raise an arm. I’m too much of a theater geek snd too impatient for that.

When I sat through the first two acts of Tristan und Isolde with Birgit Nillson at the Met around 1983 or so, I kept dozing. I would wake, the singers were till in the same position, but the lights had changed. In Act Two, when King Mark found T & I together, he sang forever, then Tristan slugged him. At the end of the actr it was 10:45 and I went home. I knew they all died at the end and did not care. I'd rather see Tannhauser or The Flying Dutchman.
Today begins a mini-vacation for me. The DH and I are driving to southern Minnesota to see his mom, who lives in an assisted care facility. We haven't been able to see her in person for the last year and a half, so that will be nice.
:)
On Tuesday we ventured inside Target to shop for a new toaster oven, replacing the one in which I had a small fire on Sunday morning :o
Continued travel vibes, ChasSmith.

I debated murdering her in the hall, then walked back to her, and she came to me. My legs were killing me so I did not get back in the floor. I grabbed her tail, picked her up by it, tossed her in the bag, and hustled to the elevator. She's now home and the leg I fell on is killing me

~~~Eye Vibes of All Kinds!!~~~
John G, I'm glad you'll be seeing the doctor tomorrow. Is the pain still there?
I have just a moment in which to say hello and report that the trip has been a good one so far.
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep and just had a forty-five minute telephonic conversation with Cindy Williams about our friend Vern.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mega-Health Vibes to DRs JohnG, TCB, Jeanne, and vixmom! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pain-begone vibes to all who need them.
Yesterday was Eye Day. I saw a new ophthalmologist for a consultation. This is the doctor I've been trying to see for TWO YEARS. He confirmed what other eye doctors had told me, but each one of them had each used different terminology from one another. I suspected that they were all saying the same thing, but wanted clarification. He seems quite competent, but goes about 80 mph. I prefer doctors who go a little slower, give patients time to take it all in and then ask questions. This is not the way that medicine is practiced these days. He did answer my questions, I just had to slip them in when he wasn't looking. As I expected, he wants to do a procedure on my right eye. Unfortunately, Covid may cause some problems there. Once it's approved I'll be able to talk to one of the schedulers about it. NOTHING happens until they have approval.
Keto Chicken actually sounds like a ballroom dance.
I asked him about the 3-month wait for an appointment. He said that he can schedule surgery a week in advance. He had no explanation for the long wait. It was clear, though, that communication is lacking between admin and him -- he didn't even know what I'd come in for. Sigh.

Not as bad. It’s still there. Got worse as the day went on but has tapered off somewhat.
Thanks for asking.
I went out to water lightly. Everything is happy because of the rain. New flowers have come out. More are budding up. But the nicest sight was of a clump of leaves at the base of the fig tree. It’s not dead after all. That just makes me happy.

I am still wearing mine inside public stores, etc.

At least once in he was competent.

I filed what was called an exception to work from home permanently. So has most of the team I’m on.

Me, too. Last year when things reopened people went crazy. I'm concerned that that will happen again. But the case counts are lower now, which gives us some measure of protection.

Yes, very. Admin throughout both Cedars and UCLA just isn't very good.
Oh, oh. This photo goes with a story on how to avoid mask burns ;D

It’s not dead after all.
Finally got some Claritin-D - of course, they were out of the twenty-four hour pills - they always are - so I had to settle for the twelve-hour. The gal, when she saw me, went and got me a mask. I said, "Apparently you don't keep up with the news - no more masks, inside or out, according to the President of the United States and the CDC. She gave me a look, then went to her boss and asked him, and he said, "Yep, it's true." Her attitude continued, however, and other customers in the store had masks, but I am DONE with them.

Unless I missed you decided to get vaccinated I expect you need to be extra diligent.
The exception to our rule is in restaurants. There is no way I would eat inside one without having been vaccinated.
