Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both dirty and BK, and now it is time for you to post until the dirty cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DENTIFRICE!
-
To continue from last night...
After they (my mom, sister and niece) were done with Quirkle, we all played a game of Scrabble and I lost, as usual. I think I've only won one or maybe two games of Scrabble in all the years that we've played. We all then left and I came home for a short while before I left again to have dinner AT Red Robin with my friend Margo before we went to the movies (again, for me) to see the new Billy Crystal/Tiffany Haddish movie, "Here Today." We both really enjoyed it, but Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/here_today_2021) gives it a 47% from reviewers. The audience score is 93%! I then came home and did a few things before I logged on to HHW, posted a few posts last night, and now it's a new day. ;D
-
Now to really ketchup on yesterday's posts!
-
I have finished reading all of yesterday's posts. I'm off to go through all my Facebook notifications, then to bed. Today, I have no plans...which are the kind of plans I like!
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!

Sumer is icumen in
Lhude sing cuccu!
It was so warm last night I could barely get to sleep. It was made even worse by Annabelle and Thatch dancing and singing Cole Porter's "Too Darned Hot." The singing wasn't so bad but their jitterbug is really irritating. Around 12:30 I woke and my pillow and sheets were wet from the sweat. I really am not looking forward to the next four months.

BK, the only other popular Gounod opera these days is Romeo and Juliet, and I wish I liked it more. I saw the Met's last production several years ago when my friend Diana Montague sang the Nurse's role. The "big" recording in the 1960s was EMI, with Mirella Freni (whom I love) and Corelli, who's better in Italian verismo than French grace, and I think it was tied in to the Met's lateswt production at the time.
The two recordings I've had are these, with a tenor very good in French opera, and an American soprano. I'm a big Malfitano admirer whom I once saw finish the Mad Scene in Lucia di Lammermoor by falling down a flight of stairs, and my friend Ruth Ann Swenson is a wonderful coloratura soprano. The supporting cast of the Slatkin recording is very American and British, and the Lombard cast very continental.
-
That wonderful 1958 Cluytens recording of Faust, which was at that time the Paris Grand Opera edition, remains my favorite recording and matches up nicely with the Dover publication of the full orchestra score. The current recordings often drop the Walpurgis-Nacht scene - for years Leo Delibes was believed to be the composer of the ballet music - in favor of recording numbers cut in the opera's development.
There's a new recording claiming to be the original 1859 opera-comique version, but several numbers are recorded as instrumentals since the lyrics are lost. Around the same time Naxos released a recording of what they claimed was the 1864 London version, which was sung, I believe, in English although the new recording is sung in French.
-
DR JohnG, I think Richard Lester's most frenetic movie might be his 1980s screwball comedy Finders Keepers, which continues to make me laugh. It has a wonderful cast. I have always wanted to see his Musketeers sequel.
-
After kitty cleanup, I went for my second cup of coffee, dropped the mug, and broke it. Damnation!
-
DR Jrand70, I have neither patience nor sympathy for people who move and abandon their animals to fend for themselves. Domesticated animals deserve so much better than to be thrown into limbo. I do hope your white kitty has a rescue who will love and treasure her.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Very warm here last night, too, and it was only around 85 yesterday. Today it's going to reach 90.
I think we get two days of relief from this, then Wednesday it goes back up to 90.
-
I love this weather
-
White Kitty was crying at her own front door after it got dark. Jennifer lured her with food and I think she slept in Jennifer's garage......rumor is that her new owner will pick her up this afternoon.
-
We have our monthly board meeting this afternoon.
I want to move my photography stand into the shop since Pillow Talk will be auditioning in the rehearsal center tomorrow evening.
I finished 20 slides yesterday and three news stories - I always gear the show release featuring the performers from the counties that the papers are published in....
After tomorrow night, I hope to have enough photos to finish the slides.....
-
DR JEANNE - I have heard that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser can clean your sneakers.
I have not tried it - but it might be worth a shot.
-
Now I have to go write my Promotions Committee Report.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I must stir. I need to make a grocery run. Out of all sorts of staples: garlic, onions, celery, carrots.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
It has been an eventful morning, with more to come.
-
Very early morning grocery run. Early to avoid a crowd. In-person because it was too long a list to have delivered.
-
Then, a long walk, before it got too hot.
-
Now, I have to shower to go out.
-
First, an outdoor recording session for my church gig - the first time we have gathered as a choir since Feb 2020.
-
Then, a trip to MY storage unit. (Shades of bk)
-
Then, to the pharmacy to pick up an Rx.
-
And all of THAT took up to
-
PAGE TWO.

:)

Great! Thank you, DR Donald.
-
Errand and job vibes for DR singdaw.
-
DR ELMORE you know how cats are with Cole Porter - once they get started, you can't get them to stop.
-
I loved Dr singdaw's cartoon of the cat meals yesterday....
-
I'll have the luscious chicken.

So true!

I'll have the luscious chicken.
That's what my three little kittens had for breakfast!

Poor baby. I hope the new owner knows about keeping her inside until she feels at home there.

Magic Erasers clean everything else, why not.

When we moved from Ashland I trashed one of these from my laundry room. I had never used it and, since it didn't have any packaging, had no idea what it was.
A neighbor here gave me one to use on our stained sliding door. It worked great and I was sorry I had never used the strange mysterious sponge ;D
-
Good afternoon!
-
I have noticed that the night backlight on my Nook app is not as bright as my Overdrive app. I am almost tempted to buy books instead of reading them for free.

A friend went to see it and loved it.

I have fallen in love with 1.5 year-old Frappe. The Manhattan ACC has listed him as "Adoption Pending" for several days now, and I do not understand this. I adopted Stella from the ACC in less than an hour!
-
Beautiful kitty.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Watching the new film of Pinocchio. The dubbing is dreadful. The movie is closer to the original tale, but it isn't great. I may stop soon.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep. The new release pages are all live, so if anyone here didn't order stuff you can now.
-
Supposedly a storm will pass over us sometime in the next few hours. In the meantime, a few clouds have gathered and some nice breezes are coming through. A lovely change, and I think I'll grab me some deck sitting time while the grabbing's good.
-
White Kitty Update.....owners are coming back to get her when they get their new space.....neighbors are "fostering" her until then---she has disappeared, they don't know where.....
Jennifer has been informed.....I don't know who was at her house today - must have just been company and I assumed they had White Kitty with them.
By the way - the itinerant owners announced to the foster parents that her name is KILLER.
-
Great name.
-
I stopped Pinocchio and started a documentary about the artist David Wojnarowicz, subtitled "F**k You F*ggot F**cker." The stars are used on the CD case. It's certainly not a kids' movie.
-
Let's get off this page ...

In a post ...

Three!

I saw a film about him, Postcards from America, years ago. He had a horrible life.
-
Dear reader John G. wrote a wonderful review of Some Days Are Murder - check it out.

He did. The stories of his childhood are just horrific.

Excited to read about all the extras on the Tonight's the Night CD. (The Blu-Ray, too, but we already knew about those).
-
I have read quite a few books by Ruth Ware. She is very popular. I actually really liked The Woman in Cabin 10.
-
I shall now be on my way to the mail place and then dinner.

Good news they are returning for Killer, and vibes they find her.
-
This morning we enjoyed brunch and visiting with friends at their home.
-
Once home we went for a late walk.
-
I have read quite a few books by Ruth Ware. She is very popular. I actually really liked The Woman in Cabin 10.
I'm halfway through, and both like it and dislike things about it.
Dislikes:
Being an ex-journalist who has done a few press junkets, I can say that the depiction is highly fanciful. Lo would never have that much alone time. And she would be in a world of trouble if she didn't try harder to get in touch with her employer. But it's all stuff that would bore readers mostly.
If she's claustrophobic, she would have had more trepidation before getting on the boat. Most cabins on a regular ship are no larger than the rooms that are bothering her.
The title is somewhat irritating. Lo keeps referring to her as a girl. No one has referred to her at all as a woman. So, "The Girl in Cabin 10" would have been a more accurate title. It might make people think of her as being a 10-year-old, I know.
Likes:
The writer hasn't tipped her hand through the first half. I don't yet have much of a clue about who has done what. And there are plenty of unlikable people on the boat.
Whenever the mystery lags on the boat with details of body wraps and how the heroine likes her coffee (white, no sugar, we know), the news bulletins from shore ratchet up the tension again.
Everything moves relatively quickly, which is why I've been able to finish half in two days.
-
I don't get gremolata. I made it to garnish a butternut squash soup (according to the recipe), but I can probably think of better toppers, like the baked parmesan crisps I have or a swirl of lemon zest in some sour cream or a little salsa, something cool to balance the thick, hot soup.
-
On the walking path, passing past the park, we saw two police SUVs but no police or people.
-
Then we saw what looked like two policemen coming down the path in a little cart, like a golf cart. They stopped to talk to a man walking while his young son rode his little bike. Then the police continued on saying hello as they passed us.
-
When we passed the man & kid I commented it must have been a surprise to have police stop in a little cart. He said they gave his son a badge :)

An email was sent out today that our clubhouse was broken into this morning. It didn't mention any damage, however, the clubhouse is closed until everything can be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized >:(
-
I doubt anyone cares about the clubhouse being closed on this raining day, unless they planned to workout in the fitness room.
-
Not good news, Jane.
-
Watching a fun, minor flick called Across the Bridge with Rod Steiger as a man on the run who tries to take on another man's identity. Turns out the other man was wanted, too.
-
I bought a box of Enlightened low-carb ice cream bars. It wasn't offensive, but it didn't cool me down much either.
-
Back from a wonderful dinner with Peyton and her mother. Peyton is taller, grown up, and all her issues seem to have been sorted out - she's put on some weight and seems very happy.
-

That's funny.

Watched a classical song recital today on PBS. Sponsored by the Metropolitan Opera. Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen.
Wow. She's the real deal.
-
Good night, friends.

That's funny.
The movie was a hard-boiled crime story, despite the ironic twist.
-
Starting to watch Merrily We Go to Hell with Sylvia Sidney and Frederic March. Fun title, but I don't know how fun the movie will be.
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
Good night, all.

It looks like a feel good movie.
It was. And bittersweet, because you do find out what's going to eventually happen after the movie ends. :-\

Cool! I'm getting what I want through the Indiegogo campaign. ;D

That's too bad, Jane. Hopefully, no damage or theft occurred!

That would be terrible! :o

Listening to Previn do Swan Lake - a lovely recording in excellent sound. Then it's a Previn break while I listen to some opera by Lalo conducted by Cluytens.
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
Gratuitous Post #100!
-
So, I was chatting (texting) with a friend for a while.
-
It was nice to ketchup.
-
Now, I'm watching the season (series??) finale of B Positive.
-
I haven't heard if it's been renewed, especially with the recent accusations against Thomas Middleditch. :-\
-
The episode ended with the two of them being anesthetized, and then the end credits rolled.
-
No, no, no, page four is so not acceptable.
-
NOT acceptable.
-
And most unseemly.
-
Certainly I'm not changing the day and topic at page four.
-
Certainly I'm not.
-
No sir.
-
Apparently page four will go on forever.
-
No TCB.
-
George is off doing other things.
-
No one here but us chickens.
-
And us chickens ain't happy.
-
What IS this - how many more posts does it take?
-
Crimeny.
-
Someone is clearly messing with my mind.
-
This is nuts.
-
This is STILL nuts.
-
And I'm not that far off from another little milestone.
-
Certainly we're far off from being able to change the topic.
-
I just don't get it.
-
We've had such large numbers the last week and now look What a revoltin' development this is.
-
A quote from Mr. Chester A. Riley himself.
-
Two minutes to new notes.
-
George has gone down some rabbit hole or other.
-
Hello, George.
-
Listening to the London cast recording of On the Town - this is my favorite recording of the score.
-
TCB has arrived.
-
I think he meant "Hello, BK" since George is down some rabbit hole or other.
-
It's interesting that they flew Goddard Lieberson to London to produce it.
-
Which is probably why it sound so good.
-
Of course, it could sound better with proper mastering - it had none, since Sony gave this to Arkiv to produce via CD-R, with no mastering.
-
Elliott Gould is in it.
-
Sorry, Hello, BK.
-
I'm not down a rabbit hole.
-
Not that I haven't BEEN down a rabbit hole.
-
I didn’t know that George had left.
-
I wonder if any rabbits are down the rabbit hole or if they're down a raccoon hole instead.
-
I wonder as I wander.
-
Guess I'll change the topic now.
-
I guess BK left, too.
