Well, you've read the notes, the notes were notes with images, and now it is time for you to post until the image of the cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WHIZBANG!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Well, I was right. Today her mother texted me that carpeting would be pulled up tomorrow and the new flooring installed on Monday.” I texted back, “What carpeting? I was given the idea that this work was all in the bathroom.” Mom wrote back, “Oh no, this is the living room and the hallway.”

Yikes! :o
-
I wrote back, “NO! I only gave permission for the bathroom.” She said. “Well, we gave you a note.” And I said, “And I gave you a permission letter for the bathroom only!” She started to write something back, but then thought better of it. I waited a half hour, and then I called her up. I told her that they do not have my permission. And, I said (shame on me) that they already made enough noise, that I would never give them permission to remove the carpet.
-
BK, when I first read in your notes: "I’ll eat (maybe one last Factor meal...)", I read it as, "I’ll eat (maybe one Max Factor meal...)".
:))

Good for you, Tom!
-
I think eating some Max Factor pancake would taste better than this stuff.
-
TCB - don't mess with our TCB!
-
Listening to a noisy Shostakovich symphony, number 13, not my favorite - it's all singing all the time. Babi Yar is the name of it. I prefer Babi Rydell.
-
I don't know.
-
I'm restless and listless. So, perhaps I'll make a list and rest.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
So, we will see what tomorrow brings. I have their note and my permission letter, so we shall see. The HOA is on my side, because earlier this year someone tried to abolish that part of the by-laws, and everyone gave them a resounding no.
-
A lovely tuba solo happening right now. Nothing like a tuba solo.
-
And cellos and double basses sawing away portentously. But this Previn version is better than most I've heard.
-
And I've heard at least seven.
-
And seven have heard me.
-
TCB - don't mess with our TCB!
Thank you.

Looks like I'll be lunching at Marie Callender's today, which means a Cobb salad most likely, unless I have a bacon cheeseburger without the bun - might be fun?
-
They also have salmon and I could have that. Lunching with an old acquaintance.
-
The old acquaintance isn't the salmon.
-
Just in case you were wondering, and weren't you?
-
I was.
-
Wondering.
-
Sometimes I wonder while I wander and sometimes I wander while I wonder.
-
Coming up is the Berlioz Requiem, which I don't believe I've heard, unless I had it and nuked it out of iTunes, but I think not.
-
They are singin' a whole mess o' Russian.
-

What a coinkydink! One of the items that I got for my sister last night, was a package of Marie Callender's corn bread mix. I've gotten that for myself in the past, and it's very good. :)
-
Page one? Really?
-
Page two? Really?
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Today, I have no plans. I wonder what I'll do. :)
-
I guess I'll find out when I do it.
-
...whatever it may be.
-
But first, sleep. 8)
Have a good day, all!
-
Sleep?
-
I've been listening to Previn do the Berlioz Requiem. Really making me appreciate the piece. I've re-uploaded the Munch, which I'd nuked - that's everyone's go-to on this. I wasn't in my Berlioz place when I first heard it, so I'll be curious to see which I like better. I also re-uploaded the Munch Berlioz Romeo and Juliette to see if I like that better, now that I'm in my opera phase. Funny how things change.
-
Good morning.
-
My goodness, TCB. I hope it turns out ok with the upstairs person.
-
I am going to go over before it gets hot out and wash the exterior windows at the church. So if anyone tried again to open a window, we'll see handprints. And know when they appeared.
-
I'm hoping this new pastor will suggest security cameras. The last one didn't want any.
-
Good morning, all!
-

That's very clever!
-
Oh -- you folks who have too much rain -- please send it my way. They say we won't get much rain this summer.
-
DR George, whenever you mention A Quiet Place, I always think of Bernstein's opera!
-
Last night we watched Move Over, Darling, Doris Day's 1963 remake of My Favorite Wife. I liked some of it, but, sadly, Chuck Connors is no Randolph Scott and I felt the movie, compared to the original, was hyper-inflated and over-sentimentalized. Doris was too often written much stupider and ditzy than Myrna Loy's character and James Garner was an inspired choice for Cary Grant's role. Thelma Ritter, who can do no wrong, was given needlessly and unnecessary condescending schtick with the Latina housekeeper, and, as in the original, Edgar Buchanan as the Judge, and the other wonderful character men walk off with the move.
-
Good morning. friends.
-
Glad to hear that Tonight's the Night is one step closer to being in our hands!
-
The things you find...
-
Wealth! Wealth untold!
-
A friend told me I shouldn't wear it all at one time. The line between snazzy and gaudy is quite a fine one.
-
Good morning, all.
-

Depends on where you’re wearing it.
-
It’s still raining and another thunderstorm is supposed to roll in shortly.

The true goal of yoga?

Hello, 1 Guest!
-
I think we can get to PAGE THREE quite easily.
-
Yes, I think we can!
-
;D
-
We can, and we did.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Does anyone produce Can-Can anymore?
-
Enjoying a REALLY slow and lazy Saturday morning here.
Which is totally fitting, given the weather.
-
I've got this sitting on the shelf. Never seen it. Perhaps I'll watch it. It's got a starry cast!
-
Good morning!
-
I was also looking for "A Quiet Place." It's not on Netflix and isn't free on Amazon Prime, but it is on FXHD tonight at 9 pm Eastern.
-
I want to see the original before seeing the sequel. I'm particularly interested in seeing the sequel since most of it was filmed in the Western New York area, which is where I'm from.
-
I watched the rest of Doctor X last night, and the verdict is in: I had indeed never seen it before. It’s a wonderfully weird story, as opposed to the somewhat more “conventional” one of Mystery of the Wax Museum. I look forward to listening to the commentaries.
These restorations are nothing short of miraculous. The two films are unique in so many ways. I’m also appreciating Fay Wray than ever. Lionel Atwill, too, and I really enjoy Glenda Farrell in Wax Museum. A great pair of Warner Archive releases.
-
Does anyone produce Can-Can anymore?
Sadly no. There was a bizarre attempt a few years back to rewrite it and include Le Fartiste as part of the story.
I saw a dinner theater production about 40 years ago that used the original script. It was sloppy, but that score is much better than it's given credit for.
-
Daniel Kaluuya earned his Oscar for Judas and the Black Messiah, Dominique Fishback often matches him, though her part is underwritten.
-
My one actual experience with a production of Can-Can was playing in a full pit orchestra at a community college in
(wait for it)
1967.
But I seem to have inadvertently kept a nice memento of it — the published vocal score with a Tams-Witmark cover on it. Oops. How did that happen?
-
Whoa. There’s the rehearsal schedule, written by me on the first page. I must look through it in case there’s more buried treasure.
-
The Tonight’s the Night images look great.

I still have to purchase it, but I look forward to it immensely.

I saw the unsuccessful and misguided Broadway production around 1983. I think there was a tour in the 1990s with Chita Rivera. I think these days the idiot audiences are more happy with the dreadful Moulin Rouge, which is set in the same time period.
-
I've been enjoying the JAY recording of Something's Afoot.
-
DR TCB, what if the workers show up today and start ripping out the carpet anyway? Do you have any recourse?
Won't the upstairs neighbor just claim it was "all a misunderstanding" after the fact? (when it's too late)
-
I loved the photos in the notes!
-
TOD:
The Red Shoes
Noises Off..... [sort of about the arts]
The Bandwagon
-
I am sending standoff and winning vibes to DR TCB....of course they were trying to get around you.....I know exactly what kind of people they are.....from here, I can tell.
-
Saturday....it is nice and cool.....but so far no more rain.
-
I like to find cards and other things in scripts as DR CHAS SMITH describes.
And of course finding my JOSEPH rehearsal schedule from 1993 is a great help to me making a rehearsal schedule for 2021.
-
Of course there is this:
Another Mercury retrograde cycle begins today, this time in curious Gemini, so it’s extremely easy to become distracted. This quick-thinking duo makes it extremely difficult for you to follow through on any one thought for any significant period of time, which leaves you lingering in mental limbo for far too long.
Following through with plans is also almost nonexistent, so you could leave important people in your life hanging. It’s not that you mean to flake, but keeping track of details like when and where you’re going to meet up, talk, etc., is nearly impossible now. Misunderstandings are around every turn, leaving you with the feeling that you’re racking up way more losses than wins.
It ends June 22.

Ditto!
-
We greatly appreciated that our neighbor above us has carpeting as not to disturb their downstairs neighbors. I don't think you need permission to put hard wood floors in. Tom you are lucky that was needed.
-
I'm hoping this new pastor will suggest security cameras. The last one didn't want any.
You should have them.
-
Good for you TCB, stick to your guns
-
Looking forward to seeing the DVD, Bruce
-
Oh, I seemed to hav3 passed a new plateau without noticing
-
Not that it’s anywhere near as impressive as most of yours

That was Chita with the Rockettes. I doubt it was close to the original.
-
It’s still raining here, Laura, please come take these clouds away
-
Congratulations on your milestone, Vixmom!
-
I've been enjoying the JAY recording of Something's Afoot.
I will have to get that one of these days. I've never heard the score.
-
Yes, Giorgio was about the world of the opera. No, don't see it.

Oh, and page 4

Looking forward to seeing the DVD, Bruce

Gratuitous post No. 100!

Congrats to DR VIXMOM on her millstone.

I am trying to decide if I want to use CDs for the dance portion of my auditions or use an MP3 player.....I will practice with the player for a bit and see how well I handle it.....

Up from a nap.
-
I wish I had taken a nap.
-
Well, I sort of did, watching The Daydreamer. It was pretty feeble, but the Rankin/Bass animation sections are fun, and there are all the cameos: Tallulah Bankhead! Victor Borge! Patty Duke! Jack Gilford! Margaret Hamilton! Burl Ives! Boris Karloff! Hayley Mills! Cyril Ritchard! Terry-Thomas! Ed Wynn! Ray Bolger! Robert Goulet! Sessu Hayakawa! And some chorus boys that, while existing only in Claymation, are quite obviously fey.
-
I think we can get us to a new page.
-
Like turning over a new leaf.
-
But different.
-
FIVE!
-
You're darn tootin'.
-
Yes siree Bob.

We've got a really lovely day here, which I enjoyed earlier by going for a walk. I'm sorry the weather isn't more clement in other areas of the country.

Went to meet someone at Marie Calendar's - dead battery. No time to call - had to Uber and it was busy time so that was expensive and I will never use that service again. Good came out of the meeting, so that part was good, then was on hold for over an hour with AAA, finally they answered and thankfully the battery guy got here in ten minutes.

Letting the car run a bit but it's better if I drive around.
-
Battery vibes for MR BK.....I don't like the sound of this....it happens to often.....the dealer should FIND the problem.
-
I have tried to use the MP3 player.....but although it starts out fine, I always end up playing "I Want To Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles.....instead of the JOSEPH song....I think I will stick to CDs.
-
TOD: redux
SERENADE with Mario Lanza about Opera although for some reason it veers off into bullfighting....
-
Haven't eaten a thing yet. I have some low carb pasta here that scares me, but maybe I'll just do that - very low calorie, too.
-
Picked up a couple of packages and will now let the motor car run for another thirty minutes, then go out later for a drive.
-
Oh, God, the horror! We just watched the movie of Lucky Stiff. They turned a charming musical comedy into the most confusing and inept POS I've seen in some time.
-

I am sorry you continue to have battery issues.

The battery is fine. The electrical system is clearly screwed up.

I saw Thomas but not MacLeod :(

Trying to watch a sad and slow film called Flowers of Shanghai about four "flowers," or courtesans, It's set at a time I can't recognize because everything looks timeless in the glow of the hurricane lamps and the opium pipes. But as much as I like it, I'm too antsy today for sad and slow.

I may do my final grocery run for the weekend and then watch the last 40 minutes.

Starting to watch Withnail and I. Have never seen this, but I keep hearing how good it is.
Some wonderful performances from Richard E. Grant and Richard Griffiths.

Good questions!

Finished with my viewing. Magnolia. Haven't seen it since the Blu came out, which was a long time ago and, in fact, I may not have even watched it then. If I did, this is only the third time seeing it. I had no memory of it being over three hours long.

Oh, no. :(
-
Today was a day, and I need to go back out again. ::)
-
My niece found a wasp's nest outside the chicken cover thing, and it needs to be sprayed at night when the wasps are asleep. :P
-
I went earlier tonight, but it wasn't dark enough and they were still active, so I'm going back now.
-
Hopefully, I can spray it all without much trouble.
-
I'll be back in a little while.
-
I'm back.
-
Well, I sprayed the nest, but I forgot to shake up the can before I sprayed, so the nest was totally destroyed!
-
My sister thought that it was supposed to be a foam spray, which probably would've happened if I had shaken up the can.
-
But, she'll see what it's like in the morning.
-
:-\

DR TCB, what if the workers show up today and start ripping out the carpet anyway? Do you have any recourse?
Won't the upstairs neighbor just claim it was "all a misunderstanding" after the fact? (when it's too late)
As far as I can tell, no one showed up today to pull up the carpeting, but I gave the mother notice early enough to cancel the workers.
-
I heard no noise at all upstairs today. If they went ahead and removed the carpeting, I would have to sue them. If I win, they would have to reinstall the carpeting. I think they know that.
-
The HOA rule was included for just this purpose. Too many people bought first floor condos while there was carpeting above them, only to be stuck with a bowling alley above their heads.
-
Listening to music and relaxing.
-
Congratulations, vixmom!
-
This was a stinky food day. For the evening snack it was two eggs and ham. It was okay, but from here on in no more Factor or anything like it - just salads or chicken, meat, or fish. Another month of this and I think I'll be ready for splurge days and a month after that I'll be ready to be off Keto and back to counting calories.
-
vixmom had a millstone.
-
Oh, God, the horror! We just watched the movie of Lucky Stiff. They turned a charming musical comedy into the most confusing and inept POS I've seen in some time.
I didn’t like the stage production, but I was in the minority. All the people around me loved it. Of course, I don’t care for ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, either.

I don't know of there's any kind of rule like that at my condo complex. My place is three levels up, so there's no one else above me. If I want to put hardwood flooring on every level, I can do that.

I've seen the Lucky Stiff movie, but it's been so long, I don't remember too much about it. I remember reading (here?) that it was a vanity project for the woman who played the sister who's lover embezzled the diamonds. I've seen local productions of Once on This Island, but only with all-white casts. ::)
-
I love the various cast recordings of both shows, though. :)

Two celebrity deaths today: Gavin MacLeod and B.J. Thomas.
Gavin MacLeod was on one of the cruises that I took. He and his wife performed the play, LOVE LETTERS onboard ship, which I avoided completely.

Of course, if the upstairs neighbors have heard my lung-shredding cough for the last three weeks, they probably figure if they wait long enough I’ll croak anyway.

Not for me, but there are one-floor units on top of each other where that could be a problem.

George, I think you should install flooring in your third floor, and then sue yourself for damages.
