I didn't notice this until after yesterday was locked, so here's a correction that should've been made last night:

I don't know how long it'll but be up, though.

My friend and DR Laura's, Michael Gildin, is coming over today to assist me around the apartment. I have four major projects we will work on while he's in my employment over the next few months:
   1. Assemble things to go to my collection at Miami University
   2. Assemble cartons of books for DR ChasSmith
   3. Organize my library
   4. Organize cartons of cat foot

Last night we watched half of The Prom, which DR George kindly sent, and I enjoyed. The problem is, the musical numbers are LOUD but the dialogue is soft and it's a bitch to hear.  What I heard was quite funny. I kept wondering, is Meryl Streep channeling Patti LuPone?

The cats are feeling the heat; they either lie in front of the AC, on the kitchen linoleum, or the bathtub. When I went into the bathroom to clean the litter, Annabelle sat in the bathtub talking to me, so I kneeled down, started playing with her, and had a damned panic attack about getting too infirm to continue to do that or giving her and the others up. I will be glad when the results of that blasted bone scan come in.

DR Jrand70, what a horrifying thing to witness. Well, witness after the fact. Maybe just be glad you weren't there a couple of minutes earlier.

I've similarly come upon something that had just happened, though thankfully not for a long time and the memories have receded. But I've never forgotten the shock and sick feeling you get from it.

The local rag here used to (maybe still does, I dunno) have a "Police Blotter" section where all manner of things, serious and minor, would be reported. But even that seemed to be highly selective. But sometimes, something would show up long after you thought it would.

So this is interesting...my sister's boyfriend also missed the Kennedy Center Honors last night (he called and asked if I was recording them which reminded me to record them, but they had already started, which caused me to look online for them, which I found).  He later e-mailed me that he didn't know that Debbie and Phylicia were sisters, but that "A guy I went to high school with --- Bobby Moore --- was a football star and went on to a very successful NFL career and changed his name to Ahmad Rashad"!  Pretty cool!
Title: Re: FEELING QUITE
Post by: George on June 07, 2021, 12:47:27 PM
And then I e-mailed him this back:

And you want to hear another "it's a small world" reference? When I did SIDE SHOW at Capital Playhouse years ago, the guy who played Jake, the black man who falls in love with one of the conjoined twin sisters, was played by Ahmad Rashad's biological son!  Ahmad didn't acknowledge him until years later when he was an adult, though. Weird, huh?

I think my best vacations were with my friend Bruce Pomahac when we went every summer to Wooster, Ohio, to the Ohio Light Opera. Many of their productions were pathetic, but a long weekend of musical theatre and driving about the area to hit used book stores with a good friend were the part of it.

A ten day tour of England and Scotland in 1996.

I went with Sandy, who is now my wife.

Fantastic trip.

Three years later (1999), I went to Ireland for 7 weeks by myself, but that was work.  Directed a film I wrote (THE DOORWAY with Roy Scheider).

Topic of the Day, Part 1:  I went to New York City in December 1995 and got to see Swinging On a Star: The Johnny Burke Musical, Sunset Blvd. with Betty Buckley, Robeson with Avery Brooks, Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Victor/Victoria with Julie Andrews.  We also saw Stomp in Greenwich Village on New Year's Eve, and several of us were in the audience for a taping of Regis and Kathy Lee.  I also spent a little bit of money at the original Footlight Records (but not enough), and Colony Records (much, tooooo much!).  At Colony, I got the original London cast recordings (on vinyl, of course) to Children of Eden and 1776. :)

Topic of the Day, Part 2:  The only other significant vacation I took was with my sister and niece when we went to London, England in December 2001.  We went to see my niece's favorite singing group STEPS in concert...twice!  We also saw the London productions of Starlight Express (about a month before it finally closed), the first two acts of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Brendan Fraser, Frances O'Connor, and Ned Beatty as Big Daddy (we had to leave early to get to one of the STEPS concerts in time), AND the Broadway transfer of Kiss Me, Kate! with the late, great Marin Mazzie and the World's Sexiest Man Alive, Brent Barrett!  I was able to get her autograph and picture :D but not his. :(

My trip to Hawaii , nearly 40 years ago, was wonderful.  There was a trip through the Canadian Rockies with my in-laws when the Vixter had just turned 6.  We visited Jasper and Banth, then drove over to Drumheller to where the dinosaur digs are.

Hawaii and traveling through the Canadian Rockies are great trips.

We are staying at a Holiday Inn in downtown Missoula.  Behind the hotel is a long walking path along the Clark Fork River (named during the Lewis and Clark expedition).

The town and the walk are in a beautiful setting.

If the town didn't have snow,  and had a major airport, we could imagine living here.

Finished with my viewing and listening to an opera by Gounod that's pretty fun. But I think I need to do a little Ralph's run right now.

Anyway, I go in and get my food to go because SO many people are still going through the drive-thru, which can take a very long time!

I usually get items from their 2-for-$4 menu, which doesn't take very long at all.

I'm usually in and out with my food before someone in a car can even place their order.

There have been a couple of times where people (stupidly) get in the drive-thru line WHEN the cars are all the way out to the street, and they block traffic instead of going to the empty parking lot and going in to order and pick up their food!

What does George eat at the Dairy Queen?

I posted earlier ;) but I usually get the 2-for-$4 chicken strips with gravy.  This time, I got two orders of the 2-strips, as well as a chili dog and large diet Pepsi.

For $8, it wasn't too bad.  And they kind of got my order wrong.  Two of the strips were actually their tenders, which are almost twice as large, so I lucked out there. :)
