Well, you've read the notes, the notes did the Cakewalk, and now it is time for you to post until the Cakewalking cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PREDILECTION!
-
That was a pretty cool interview with Lin Manuel and Jimmy Fallon. :)
-
I REALLY want to see the movie, In the Heights!
-
And I shall, but I want to see it in the theater.
-
I do have HBO Max, so I'll definitely watch it more than once.
-
I just ordered the soundtrack. It'll be released on Friday, so I probably won't get it until Monday.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Still enjoying the posts of those who are traveling.
-
I looked up some videos of folks performing cakewalks.
-
Time to get on the recumbent bike, I think.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had lots of dreams I do not remember now, but I slept well until 4:00 when Stella became a pest. She wasn't begging for food, which is new, but she couldn't decide if she wanted to lie down and sleep with me or jump up and chase Thatch about. Her constant comings and goings were really irritating.
-
This morning Michael returns and we will continue cleaning out the storage area.
-
Last night we watched The Hidden Heart, documentary about Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears. I enjoyed the talking heads of Britten's associates, but the video clips from performances of Peter Grimes, War Requiem, and Death in Venice were not of Pears but later performces with other singers. I was most disappointed.
-
Whew! Sweaty. Burned 360 calories.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I do have HBO Max, so I'll definitely watch it more than once.
Will you be recording it? he asked, trying hard not to sound greedy.
-
Don’t know what the day has in store.
-
But something good, no doubt.
-
My friend Charlie Harmon, who worked for Bernstein, told me the basics of this story years ago, but this is definitive!

Wednesday morning greetings! Fr. Richard is "attending" a national clergy meeting via Zoom today, tomorrow, and half of Friday. I'm keeping him fed and working on a huge scrapbooking project.
-
Our granddaughter Charlotte is one year old today!
-
Awww, happy 1st birthday to Charlotte 🎂🎁🎈
-
Good morning, all.
-
I know you've all been waiting for an update on our li'l heat wave. And I shall not disappoint.
Today's the last whole day of it. Tomorrow the high should only reach the mid-80s, with a cooling off tomorrow evening. Then for the next ten days or so, we're going to be in very comfortable temperatures.
-
Awww, happy 1st birthday to Charlotte 🎂🎁🎈
Thanks, DR Jane! And the best gift is that I just verified that I have, indeed, been excused from jury duty next week and the next. That means I can exhale and we can proceed with our plans to be there for the big celebration over Father's Day weekend. Color me relieved.

That has to be one of the best stories ever. Thank you. Reading it and watching the accompanying video quite literally improved my morning.
-
Glad to hear that everything is working out for you, DR Ginny!

-
What a story DR ELMORE.....everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at her rear end!
-
Happy Birthday to Charlotte!
-
For some reason I am not getting all of my emails in my Thunderbird POP mail.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
-
Glad to hear that everything is working out for you, DR Ginny!
Thanks, DR Singdaw.
-
Happy Birthday to Charlotte!
Thank you, DR JRand! From what I hear, she's getting a new tooth for her birthday.
-
I love a nice cakewalk!
-
Does anyone have the sheet music to the Joe Lubin I.Roth tune Inspiration from PILLOW TALK?
Just the melody line would be fine.....or can someone write it out on music paper for me? I have an MP3.
-
I'm up, I'm up - not quite seven hours of sleep.
-
In two days (eight hours) Michael has achieved miracles. My storage space is cleaned out, vacuumed, and organized. Next week's project will be to inventory and prepare the three cartons going to Miami University Library for shipment; then, seriously weed the detritus from the cartoins of scores that Josh will take.

detritus
The flotsam and jetsam, as it were.
-
...so-called.....

The flotsam and jetsam, as it were.
I've been dealing with a bit of that myself today. From late elementary school through high school I kept a scrapbook that I've lugged around now for 50+ years. The book itself is falling apart and scrapbooking has changed a lot since 1962, so today I took it all apart, sorted the contents for new purposes and will give the old (non-archival) book a proper disposal.
This is all part of a project I'm working on now to create a new album documenting my birth to marriage, a period of 30 years, using an online course called "Before Your Story." That's based on the teacher's desire to document her life before her daughter for that daughter.
My album, however, is called "Who were YOU?" because that's what one of Richard's and DR Elmore's high school classmates asked me at their 40th reunion. Her question stunned me speechless and I'm hoping this process leads me to the answer I didn't have 17 years ago.
-
Among the items salvaged from my scrapbook were 3 ticket stubs that help answer BK's question from several weeks ago about road show movies we'd seen. Apparently, I saw (all in Detroit):
"The Agony and the Ecstasy," at the Music Hall Theatre, on Sunday, December 26, 1965
"The Sound of Music," at the Madison Theatre, on Tuesday, December 28, 1965
"Dr. Zhivago," at the United Artists Theatre, on Friday, August 19, 1966
I know we also saw "Windjammer," "How the West was Won," and "My Fair Lady," but I don't have ticket stubs for those.
-
Very nice, DR Ginny. And I truly envy your having kept those ticket stubs.
-
I do have HBO Max, so I'll definitely watch it more than once.
Will you be recording it? he asked, trying hard not to sound greedy.
Sadly, the movie will be on HBO Max and not HBO TV. I can't record from HBO Max because it's a streaming service. However...a copy may be SHHH!!! DON'T TELL ANYONE!! "procured" from <ahem> disreputable sources. ::)
;)
-
What an amazing story and project, DR Ginny. Thanks for sharing with us about it.
-
:)
-
Back from storage - found a couple of OOP things that have gotten pretty rare so I put 'em up on Amazon.
-

Well, DR ChasSmith, they and a lot of ticket stubs from Detroit's Fisher and Hilberry Theatres are going into a scrapbook layout. I'd always intended to collage ticket stubs underneath the glass top of a coffee table, but this will have to do.
-

You might get sick of hearing about it, DR Singdaw...

Our granddaughter Charlotte is one year old today!
A Very Happy First Birthday to granddaughter Charlotte!! :D

That's great! :))

-
That's a good one, Singdaw!
-

Huzzah!
-
Oh dear. Another lull.
-
We had a brief pseudo-monsoon pass through.
-
So let's move on.
-
PAGE THREE!!!
-
Hi, Singdaw. :)
-
I got a new computer at work, and I've been trying to set it up the way I
want need it to be. ::)
-
I still have one program that I really need, so hopefully, the IT department can install it quickly!
-
And if anyone is interested, the New York Philharmonic streamed a live concert at Bryant Park (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp3ybEMrbek) in NYC:
The festive and varied kick-off of Bryant Park’s Picnic Performances treats New Yorkers to music by past masters — including the Classical era’s Mozart and Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges — and American sounds, including an uplifting piece by Philharmonic Very Young Composer Ilana Rahim-Braden. Lina González-Granados conducts in her Philharmonic debut.

Wonderful news. It not not look like Bryan will have much free time off of work this month. We need to plan a trip there.
-
Happy Birthday to Charlotte!
Thank you, DR JRand! From what I hear, she's getting a new tooth for her birthday.
:)
Freyja is now brushing her stuffed animal's teeth.
-
My parents are going to get their second covid shots on Friday. I might be able to get mine next Friday (as that will be 8 weeks).
-
I did not realize how close to the Washington border we were last night, not until shortly after we began our drive when Keith pointed across the river and said that was Idaho.
-
Eventually we left Washington and drove over into Oregon.
-
We followed the beautiful Columbia river on the Oregon side, facing Washington, until we were almost home.
-
Back in Washington we went out to dinner then picked up a few essentials at the market.
-
Hi, Singdaw. :)
Hello, DR George.
-
I feel like the new DR TCB. 8)
-
No one can really substitute for dear DR TCB.
-
:)
-
No one can really substitute for dear DR TCB.
True, but neither can anyone substitute for you.
-
Awww, DR Jane. You're too kind!
-
In fact, you're every kind!
-
;D
-
It doesn't make any sense in this context. But a little joke stolen from the screenplay of Victor/Victoria.
-
Our granddaughter Charlotte is one year old today!
A Very Happy First Birthday to granddaughter Charlotte!! :D
Thank you, George! We ate dinner "together" tonight on Facebook Messenger.
-
Time for me to leave work, so I shall.
Be back later.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Listening to a Chopin piano concerto via Ormandy and, I think, Serkin, but I'm not sure about that.
-
Are we really on page three?
-
I don't think we should be on page three.
-
I think we should be on page twenty-three.
-
Those days, however, seem to be over.
-
And then I wrote...
-
Page four? Really?
-

The video gave me goosebumps. She was spectacular.

The flotsam and jetsam, as it were.
No. Flotsam and leave ‘em.
-
Happy birthday, Charlotte!
-
Crazy day. Last full day here and it was full indeed.
-
We went out to Goose Island and I did not get goosed. But I did walk a long, windy pier out over the Gulf and saw a 1,000-year-old live oak tree. Very impressive.
-
Barbecue for lunch. Always a treat.
-
After a nap and some adult libations, it was time for dinner. I had a delicious redfish Vera Cruz.
-
Watched the sun set over a cow field.
-
Then managed to fit in some swimming before finishing off a Maigret mystery.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!
-
That’s all I can do tonight.
-
Good night, all.
-
Well, it's an evening of lulls. ::)
-
No more wire lulls!
-
Too many lulls.
-
The lulls have it.
-
Let's have some posts.
-
C'mon now.
-
This is most unseemly.
-
Listening to music.
-
Tomorrow, I have an eye appointment.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
That's something to mention.
-
The eyes have it.
-
I had it written on my Outlook calendar at work.
-
Eye spy.
-
Where the HELL is page five.
-
Page five will NOT be ignored.
-
Page five is in absentia.
-
I thought that my appointment was at 11:45, BUT it turns out that it's at 1:45.
-
At long last, page five.
-
Fanfare.
-
Normally, the time change wouldn't be a problem, but I have a meeting at 1:00 that's scheduled to last for two hours!
-
Trumpets.
-
Drums.
-
Tubular bells.
-
Maracas.
-
A parade of ostriches.
-
I had to let my former supervisor (who's running the meeting) know that I'll have to leave early. :-\
-
I can be there for the first half hour, and hopefully, that'll be good.
-
Maybe someone will take notes so that I'll find out what happened after I left.
-
OR hopefully, they won't need me there to answer whatever questions that they might have.
-
Or more appropriately, they won't actually have any questions that I would need to be there to answer.
-
There's also the (infinitesimally small) chance that the eye doctor could call and ask if I could come in early.
-
If I had known this a couple of days ago, I would've said that I can't be at a meeting at that time, and the meeting would've been changed to a new time.
-
That could also happen...the meeting could be rescheduled.
-
We'll see.
-
Either way, it'll be what it'll be.
-

Well, I didn't get to read the article at lunch, but I just finished it! Wow! What a story! ;D
-
And it's a great video, too!
-
After that, I now have to listen to a whole bunch of versions of "Glitter and Be Gay," starting, of course, with Barbara Cook's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF3fwp_VrdQ)...as well one should! :)
-
Here's Madeline Kahn's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDtwp3cB2yU).
-
And June Anderson's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m122PR3nGtw).
