Well, you've read the notes, the notes had something different, and now it is time for you to post until the something different cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POIGNANT!
-
The new picture looks really good in your notes, BK!
-
Topic of the Day: In the Heights on HBO Max. I'll actually be able to watch/listen to it at work today.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Watch this - Balanchine - so great: https://youtu.be/eLfYxwe4I0o
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I noticed the "something different." It looks great!
-
I found bk's comments about the economics of big box sets most interesting.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The laundry is in the washers, and I will be happy when it's finished.
-
DR singdaw, 9:00-9:30 is my bedtime, too. As DR Geoprge would say, what a coinkydinck.
-
:)
-
I only own 3 of what I would call really big box sets: Bach 333 (223 discs), Beethoven 2020 (123 discs), and Mozart 225 (200 discs). I love them all to pieces.
-
Funny thing BK, I saw your new picture in the notes ,and wanted to compare it to the old one so went to the archives and looked at yesterday’s column. When I clicked on June 11th in the archives to go back to today’s colum there was your old picture again!
But when I closed out the site and then rejoined the new picture was back
-
I don’t understand how that could happen..weird
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t want to work today.
-
But I will.
-
Watch this - Balanchine - so great: https://youtu.be/eLfYxwe4I0o (https://youtu.be/eLfYxwe4I0o)
That's some might fun dancin'! Would love to see the entire ballet.

I love this ballet, and I wish it were all here. Union Jack remains one of Hershy Kay's unrecorded ballet scores, along with his strange score for The Clowns. Cakewalk and Stars and Stripes have had several recordings, and I be;oeve Who Cares? and Western Symphony have only been recorded once.
-
I think I saw Union Jack on a City Ballet all-Balanchine night years ago.
-
The laundry is in the dryers. I need to make the bed.
-
I need to go back and read bk's comments about Jewels. In the online reviews that I've read, it appears there may be a problem with blurriness when the dancers move. Or is that just a sub-par playing device?
-
I made a mistake and bought a ticket for last night’s showing. Oy. I need a vacation…
-
Good morning, all.
-
What a pleasure to have left the windows open last night and to wake up to a beautiful sunny but FRESH morning. This one reminded me of a lot of California mornings. Oy!
-

I did the same thing, and that's exactly what happened.

I was just looking at today's Memories on Facebook, and I see that five years ago today I had posted a question about Hamilton that I have been wondering about In the Heights: Does CBS have money in the show? They're giving it the very same - to me - iverblown blitz of praise and clips that they did for Hamilton. Personally, I would love to see In the Heights, but I;m not trudging on a walker to the nearest movie theatre.
-
That Hershy Kay is wonderful, and of course we must have more.
What would the source for the video have been? Alas, being one of "those guys", I must note that the image is stretched from what would have been 1.37 to what looks like 1.66, so you have everyone looking a little widened out. It's not nearly as horrendous as what happens on some people's widescreen TVs, but you can't get it by me. I sniff that kind of thing out faster than anyone I know.

Friday morning greetings and hello, page 2! I'm working at the AAUW garage sale this afternoon. It's not really in a garage, but in a huge space on Central Avenue that used to be a RiteAid drug store.
-
I hope that someday I will just happen to be in Beautiful SW Ohio when one of DR Ginny's fabulous sales is going on.

Next up: Book Sale! It's scheduled for September, but I don't have the exact dates handy. I'll get back to you...
-
Something new in the notes was very nice!
-
Friday - our penultimate performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.....whew! Ten performances in two weeks in plenty, thank you very much.
Our audiences have been very responsive and nice - and I think everyone is just very happy to be back IN A THEATRE.
-
DR MATTHEW and DR singdaw, I am using the 30 day free trial of AnthemScore.....
It worked very well on my MP3 of "Inspiration" from "Pillow Talk". I then clicked on "File" and exported the music as a PDF and saved it and printed it out.
It has three options from $28-$99 if you wish to buy it after the Free Trial.....I may invest $28.
Try it out. You might like it. It seems to work well - but I am not a professional...

When I want to find a software or site that will do something, I start searching on YouTube for a tutorial and usually find the technology I need.

Finally got the biopsy results back, and everything is OK.
-
Birdy is not so good. He need to take liquid milk thistle for three months. Then we’ll see if he’s better.
-
Congrats on the run, DR Jrand70.
Might there be any videographic evidence coming down the pike?
That show has my favorite line, of course. You know the one. The moment when he says, “What hump?” and the audience howls in delight. Hoo boy, talk about yer knee-slapper! Gets ‘em every time.

Birdy vibes, DR John G.
-
Thanks for the information, DR Jrand70!
-
Very grateful for the good test results for DR John G.

I suspect it's from a PBS broadcast.

Great news from DR JOHN G.
Vibes for JB.

GET WELL VIBES FOR BIRDY!
-
Bruce you look very happy in the notes.
-
I'm up, I'm up - not quite seven hours of sleep.
-
Good morning from Santa Ana/Orange County/John Wayne Airport! I've had a great time this past week. Just caught up on all the posts from the last several days, but for some reason couldn't see BK's notes from June 10th and June 11th.
-
I read those reviews of Jewels - there is NO blurriness. Those people have their TVs set incorrectly.
-
Watch this - Balanchine - so great: https://youtu.be/eLfYxwe4I0o
That was great!
-
One for DR singdaw!
-
I've been looking ar BK's new headshot and thinking, who does he remind me of? I think it's Joe Biden!
-
I agree, Larry!

And just to compare, here's BK's original:

And if anyone is interested, OperaVision (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBTlXPAfOx300RZfWNw8-qg) is streaming the Staatsoper Hamburg production of Donizetti's LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YBhukenviM) for the next three months.

I've always hated the old photo on the notes, almost twenty years old.
-
Back from rehearsal.

Have you ever had a lazy, crazy, hazy day of summer? That's what I want to know.

Jrand is doing a different show, ChasSmith. :)

So funny...and so true! :))

DR ChasSmith, AAUW Middletown's 66th Annual Used Book Sale will be September 9-12 and September 18, 2021. C'mon down!

Well now, if only I didn't have tech week and opening of The Fantasticks just then...
But thank you, DR Ginny. Someday!
-
That cartoon just about sums it up, DR elmore3003! :)

Either/Or. Honestly, I don't know if I could choose... 8)

Well, ChasSmith, I can't always read humor in a post, so a ";)" would've been helpful.

Hello, everyone.
-
I haven't been around much this week. I've been playing catch-up on tax prep. Making good progress, but still lots to do. I like to keep up with things throughout the year, but in the last few years that just hasn't been happening.
-
Next week I'm scheduled for a procedure on my right eye and no one will tell me anything. The attitude of "just show up on this date and at this time and we'll do the rest" doesn't sit well with me. I want details! Lots of phone calls, no answers. I am not pleased.
-
Good news from John G! I'm pleased for you.
-
Vibes for DB JB.
Do you put the mile thistle supplement in his food? I'm hoping you don't have to hold him and drop it down his throat.
-
Congrats to Jrand.
-
Jane's trip sounds lovely. Jane, was this a Covid-inspired trip, ie, did you say "No more flying for us for a while!" and find a car trip that sounded interesting or was this a trip you've long wanted to do?
-
John G's trip sounded envy-worthy, too.
-

>:(
Vibes you get the answers you need before your appointment.
-
Bruce, I always liked the old photo. It shows the way your smile often goes up just a bit more on one side, which is so characteristic of you. The new photo's great, of course, but so was the old one.

Thanks, but I'm not optimistic. No one knows anything and the few who do know don't tell.

A combination. We did not want to get on a plane. Montana has long been on my list of places to see, as was Coeur d'Alene. We figured this was a good time to finally take that road trip to Montana.
-
Finally got the biopsy results back, and everything is OK.
That is wonderful news!

Poor Birdy
-
DR Jeanne I was reading who should continue wearing masks and when. One of the suggestions was, if vaccinated, to wear them around unvaccinated people to protect them. If people are unmasked, in a private setting, are you asking them to please wear one?
-
Either/Or. Honestly, I don't know if I could choose... 8)
Tom Eyen also wrote Dreamgirls.
-
Have you ever had a lazy, crazy, hazy day of summer? That's what I want to know.
Yes. Alcohol was involved. Nuff said.

Amazon delivers the first bottle tomorrow. We’ll see.

There are so many differences of opinion on this and, IMO, the CDC's recent decision just made things worse. I changed the time of my hair appointments to avoid the Unmasked Wonder, ie, the woman who refuses to wear a mask because she's been vaccinated, without regard to others in a room where there are many seniors and it's impossible to distance properly. Only to find that my hairdresser no longer wears his mask! I am quite dismayed with people in general these days and dread the reopenings because I expect a lot of irresponsible behavior. I do not wish to go anywhere with a lot of people. I usually wear one of my allergy masks, which are both comfortable and effective, in order to stay protected. Until the case counts are lower and I feel more comfortable I am avoiding people and distancing as much as possible.
-
Eye and spirit vibes for DR Jeanne.

Weekend vibes for all.

Eye and spirit vibes for DR Jeanne.

OMG I am shocked your hairdresser is no longer wearing a mask. Did you ask him if he would wear one for you? My hairdresser puts a nice warm towel over my face to add extra protection while she is shampooing my hair. I find the warm towel very relaxing.
-
Time for me to head out and play some cards.
Be back later.
-
I am right there with you, DR Jeanne.
-
~~~VIBES~~~ to you next week for a successful procedure.
-
:)
-
A lull.
-
DR Jrand is off performing.
-
DR George is off playing cards.
-
DR John G. is off to movies.
-
And I am off to bed!
-
Good night, friends.
-
I am off to watching something with Keith.
-
'night
-
Good evening.
-
I still wear a mask any time I am around people. There is too much variant stuff going on for me to feel comfortable.
-
I saw In The Heights when it toured through town. I don't like rap, so I really didn't get anything out of it.
-
Glad to hear John G. got good news. I hope The Bird recovers quickly.
-
I wear my mask in the shops and at work and at church.
When I’m out walking I do not.
-
I believe the case counts these days are lower than flu case counts.
-
Good evening.
Why are you sideways?
-
I'm back from the movies. And I let go and let it entertain me.
-
Stay through the credits. There's a "surprise" musical number at the end.
-
The best thing about the movie is that the actors are the singers. Daphne Ruben-Vega gets the chance to let loose, and she relishes it. Marc Anthony is almost unrecognizable, and he's very good. Olga Merediz, the abuela from the original, is irresistible. And the main four characters are all beautiful. It's all easy on the eye and ear.
-
Shortly I'll mosey on over to the theater for our brief tech.
-
What surprised me the most is how effective the story is, albeit a little overstuffed. I had read reviews talking about how pointless and empty it was whenever the music stopped. Well, the story's actually about the Jane Austen crucible of love and money -- and in that are themes of family, both blood families and the families we create. Austen never dealt much in dreams, as I recall, but they're also prominent here.
-
John Chu's direction will divide folks. Some will love the color that splashes across the screen in most every musical number. Others will find it overwrought.
-
Previews included West Side Story with Rita Moreno singing Somewhere. Plus, another Dear Evan Hansen.
-
There were maybe nine of us in the theater. And it was one of two screens there showing it.
-
Good night, all.
-
I've been hearing this from everyone, that they saw the film with six or nine people in the audience. It will be interesting to see if they out and out lie about the grosses, because if six and nine people is the story, well...
-
Back from a quick tech. Two light cues - lights up at the top, lights fade at the end. One sound cue.
-
DR George is off playing cards.
No...George WAS off, losing at cards. ::)
-
But now I'm home and fed and for some reason, tired.
-
But I'm here. :)
