DR Ginny is back and safe from the wind and gale. In the 33 years I lived in southwest Ohio, I believe my family went to the cellar only one time during a tornado scare. I do remember around 1970 driving through an area of Cincinnati that had been decimated by one.

I had a good work session with Michael yesterday. We've got six cartons of things for Joshie to pick up in the next two weeks. I found my Fed Ex tracking info so the cartons will arrive at Miami University today. And we've begun pulling DVDs, CDs, and books for DR Charles Smith's Connecticut libraries.

I like DR ELMORE's lists for the TOD.

I guess I would add HUD for Mr. Newman and Steel Magnolias for Miss Field.

Although Sally Field had/has an annoying habit of leaving her mouth hanging open like the tailgate on a station wagon......

Today is the birthday of John Dillinger, central character in my published screenplay, DILLINGER AND CAPONE, which is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.  You may have seen the film version with Martin Sheen and F. Murray Abraham.  So:

Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday, dear John.

Break in the weather again, which is nice. Today is one of those odd ones in which the day's high is when you get up, and it goes down from there.

I do not complain. We'll enjoy a few days break till, I think, Sunday, when the next hot spell will be upon us.

The times they are a changing - just back from Gelson's - for the first time in a year and three months, the hot food and salad bars are back. That's major. Many people masked, some not, but I think the not is growing.  Got a little seafood salad to tide me over, along with a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. Took a Claritin-D, so now all I can do is relax and hope for a strong voice.

Not surprisingly the number of people with covid that have been vaccinated is growing.  I don't have stats on the nubers, severity, or how they got it.  I do suspect unvaccinated people without masks.

I have seen zero unmasked employees. And I have read zero about an influx of Covid cases anywhere, save for many weeks ago with some baseball team, I think, and they were ALL asymptomatic. Cases are at an all-time low, as are deaths, and hospitals are empty, Covid-wise. If it were any other way, the CDC would be talking about it.

Both Oregon and Washington are close to lifting COVID-19 restrictions.

Each state is within reach of achieving their goal to reopening. In Oregon, the goal is to have 70% of residents 18+ receive a first dose. Washington state has already set their opening date of June 30th.

No, it's not on the honor system.  Employees had to show HR proof of vaccination before we would be allowed to go maskless.  Those of us who were vaccinated got a sticker to put on our name badges to show that we aren't required to wear a mask.  But, it's possible that there are people who have been vaccinated but still want to wear masks.  I just don't know if there is anyone choosing to wear a mask after getting vaccinated.

Thanks for explaining.  That is the way it should be to protect you, them, and others.  It might also encourage the unvaccinated to get vaccinated if they don't have a medical reason to pass on it.

Ahead of watching the last two episodes of Cher, I'm watching the bonus interview with Bob Mackie. He's great. He's just everything his costumes aren't: He's not a lot of flash, not a lot of flamboyance. But he's nice and he loves the people he worked for. He talks of Carol Burnett, Mitzi Gaynor and Lily Tomlin among others.

Yesterday, when I was on the grounds of USAA, I saw a caracara, which is a type of falcon. It was a magnificent bird and as large as a dog. I pulled the car over and he let me take a picture, but I was a bit too far. Still. it was not a sight I was prepared for.

Cher is now earning her gospel creds. She's singing a medley of My Sweet Lord and Oh, Happy Day with a backup choir.

Suprisingly, I am really enjoying MANIFEST.

I watched the first season and had recorded part of the second season, but my DVR was filling up and I had to delete something, so I deleted MANIFEST because I couldn't keep up. :-\ I really did enjoy it while I was watching it, though.

I barely got through the reading, voice-wise - just these damn allergies plus having the air on the whole time. But it was fine - who can sing twenty-one things in a row? Yikes.
Title: Re: THE RESTING OF THE VOICE
Post by: bk on June 22, 2021, 11:38:31 PM
It all went swimmingly and there's a nice show here - I made notes as we went, marked cuts including one entire scene in act one, noted some characters who need fleshing out and to be more compelling (a side plot), and two songs that need to change - lyrically just not doing the right things. Once we figure out how those lyrics should go then I can address the music. And right now, the ending is soft - it's the movie ending - but it just doesn't feel right here. All along, I've said that we should think about a new ending, a kind of coda and that's what I think we'll try, at least.

This is interesting (well, to me, at least)...but the Leonard Bernstein Conducts West Side Story: The Making of the Recording that I got doesn't say on the outer packaging that it's a laserdisc, it says "CD VIDEO."  I've never heard of that term.
Title: Re: THE RESTING OF THE VOICE
Post by: George on June 23, 2021, 12:08:59 AM
It also says, "This disc is compatible with other laser-optical productions bearing this mark." And this is the mark that's on the packaging:

So, I would think (hope?) that I can at least play it in my laserdisc player.  It is the size of a 12-inch laserdisc, not a 4.75-inch CD-sized Video CD, which is something else, entirely.
