Well, you've read the notes, the notes had speed and writing and a few dummies, and now it is time for you to post until the dummy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACCOUTREMENT!
-
Today, I'm ushering at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center Main Stage at Sound Puget Sound Community College for Inspired to Move Dance Academy’s 4th Annual Spring Recital, "Dance the Year Away!" My call time is 4:30 and we're scheduled until 7:30. I need to wash my shirt and mask, but my pants are clean enough.
-
Tomorrow, I'm ushering at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts for Debbi's Dance Etc.'s "Positively Dance." That call time is 5:00 and is scheduled to go until 8:15.
-
The volunteer coordinator sent out an e-mail asking for volunteers because not enough originally signed up, and she specifically emphasized that both venues are air conditioned! ;D
-
I haven't heard anything about when they'll be able to open up concessions. Hopefully, that'll happen sooner rather than later. I'd rather work concessions at the SPSCC space than usher. ::)
;)
-
I’m debating going into Brooklyn and meeting a couple of friends to see a new little band I like perform a rooftop show
-
I finally went to bed around 2am and slept soundly until about 4:15
-
I am now wide awake.
-
I really would like to be sleepy so I can wake up at a normal time and be awake all day
-
Good morning, all!
-
Can I ask you, please, to sign ths petition?

It's already too warm, and we too are heading into a heatwave.
-
Good morning, friends.

Today, I'm ushering at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center Main Stage at Sound Puget Sound Community College for Inspired to Move Dance Academy’s 4th Annual Spring Recital, "Dance the Year Away!"
Say THAT ten times fast!
-
I have little to report this morning. I slept rather soundly, and Annabelle stayed with me. Thatch and Stella behaved.
-
DR vixmom, I'm happy you're getting another week of work, and I am curious about your job search.
-
I'm reading (re-reading?) Christopher Gillett's books. Amusing and candid. I'm wondering at how candid he actually is. Isn't he worried about wanting to continue to work in the opera world? Composer Tan Dun doesn't come off very well.

Candide (OBC, 1956)
Kiss Me, Kate (OBC)

My favorite recording is the one I am currently listening to, and tomorrow my list might be entirely different. I can only be glad I am on no desert island.
-
COntinued vibes for DR VIXMOM et al.
-
Playlet vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Today is sort of a me day.....so I will be doing a bit of stuff on the inner web.....and working on the blocking for GO GO GO JOSEPH....and doing my Promotions Report for the Bored Meeting tomorrow.
-
..and maybe doing some reading.....
-
TOD is difficult....only ten?
Hmmmmm......I like some of the discs on DR ELMORE's list.
Candide 1956 OBC
Van Cliburn Tchaikovsky First Piano Concerto 1957
That's two!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Yes, we have our own heat wave coming, probably effective tonight when it will only go down to 70. Then we're in for four days of 90 and 90+ temperatures. That's out here in the sticks, so NYC ought to be a barrel of laughs.
-
Tomorrow I'm substituting playing a church service, so I must finish preparing for it today.
Fortunately, it's just on piano (I'd have to do some serious work to get back to competently playing an organ, which I haven't done in a few decades), the music for tomorrow is easy, and I'm familiar with their routine.

It really cries out for being set to music.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Let’s get a move on.
-
Two!
-
1. Follies (OBC, BK version)
2. The Good Companions (London cast)
3. The Decline and Fall of the Entire World as Seen Through the Eyes of Cole Porter
4. The Boys from Syracuse (Encores!)
5. Ballroom (OBC)
6. Gypsy (OBC)
7. On the Twentieth Century (OBC)
8. Kismet (OBC)
9. The New Yorkers (Encores!)
10. I Can Get It for You Wholesale (OBC)
I know this isn’t entirely right. I need Bobby Short Loves Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald sings the Cole Porter Songbook, Dinah Washington’s What a Difference a Day Makes, Show Boat, some Kurt Weill, some Kander and Ebb …
-
It’s funny, but I only have three of my list on my phone now:
Decline and Fall
The New Yorkers
Ballroom
-
And where’s the room for Burton Lane?
Both Finian’s Rainbow and On a Clear Day … belong there.
-
First world problems for a third world scenario.
-
After kitty cleanup, I lay down and napped for 90 minutes. Annabelle fell asleep on her pillow, and Thatch, after first lying on my chest for a bit, decided to sleep next to me.
-
JB has been fed. He's taken his medicine like a good birdy. He's play with his bell.
-
I have a recipe calling for nigella seeds, which I didn't have. So I have been looking for acceptable substitutes, which include celery seed, oregano, black sesame seeds and cumin seeds, all of which I have.
I was weeding around the spice cabinet and found an unopen jar of something called Charnushka from India. I read the back of the jar to see how to use it. Turns out it's nigella seeds.
I think I have a good idea how to use it.
-
I was also smart enough to ink in the name nigella large enough to remember what it is.
-
I finally got around to looking at the music for my church gig tomorrow morning. I no expert or anything, but it looks to me like there are words missing.
Should be interesting.
-
I like any and all the TOD selections.
-
DR John G., why not just go for the "Ella Sings the American Songbook" complete box? That should count as only 1 selection. Problem solved!
-
Are nigella seeds named after Nigella Lawson?
-
Enquiring minds want to know these things.
-
For those who need to know (you know who you are):
TCM began running Hitchcock films this morning, and the run continues throughout today, tonight, all day tomorrow, and through tomorrow night till about 6am Monday.
-
I would just like to take this opportunity to say that the amount of spam email coming to me increased notably two or three days ago, and it continues unabated.
I'm aware of this because I monitor it every day and keep my spam folder cleared out -- reason being, neither Gmail nor Apple Mail is consistent or competent at following my instructions regarding certain things that are not spam, and certain things that are. I have to watch what's going in there so as not to lose the two or three good things that, after a couple of days since I've "corrected" it yet again, begin falling right back into that accursed folder.
But man, there's been a big increase in the real spam. For whatever reason.
-
That's a bummer, DR ChasSmith.
-
From everything I've read, the release of Windows 11 (at the end of this year) will make PCs look and behave a lot more like products in the Apple eco-sphere. Which is probably a good thing.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Can I ask you, please, to sign ths petition?
https://ladyfreethinker.org/sign-texas-governors-veto-of-anti-chain-law-puts-dogs-in-deadly-danger/
Signed. I haven't seen this one yet in my animal group petitions.
-

Is it humid there?
-
Has anyone eaten dried watermelon? We purchased a bag at Costco. They remind me a little bit of dried figs.
-
By my estimation, we're in for six consecutive days of AC use (it was originally four), which is kind of a long spell for us here.
I thought we'd be turning them on this evening, but it feels like it's about time right now. It's too bad, because the temperature is pleasant enough. But it's muggier than all hell, and I hear all hell can get pretty bad.
-
DR TCB is your AC working ok?
-
DR George will it be cool enough in your bedroom?
-
Since we had to go to the market today we skipped the gym. It is already 84 degrees and we haven't walked yet.
-
It is a few degrees cooler for us as we are on the river.
-
Back from an omelet and side Caesar, picking up a little package (a replacement disc for the big Ormandy set - one disc cut off abruptly so they did a replacement program) and apparently while I was gone the power went out, Kind of really annoying. Had to reset the clocks.
-
We returned from our walk. A neighbor asked when does it get hot enough that we don't walk. I said about now ;D
-
Wishing we had purchased cantaloupe or watermelon at the market I ate one of the dried watermelons. They are too sweet.
-
THREE!!!

Vibes for DR Vixmom and her family members!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DITTO!

It is currently 99 degrees here.

Signed...sigh.

This is in my bedroom just a few minutes ago:

Right now, my usher shirt and a few other things are in my washing machine for s short wash cycle. When I put them in the dryer, I'll take a shower, then leave to go to Taco Bell for lunch at about 3:30, whether my shirt is dry or not. Taco Bell is air conditioned, so I'll stay there until I need to leave for the theater at about 4:15.
-

No. Sounds intriguing, but dried fruit is one of the things that causes kidney stones in me, so a Costco-sized bag would defeat me.

It's now 92.7°F in my bedroom! :o

Or was she named after the seed?

Or not. ::)

DR George will it be cool enough in your bedroom?
I can only hope!! I can move down to my bottom floor, which is cooler, but we'll see what it's like when I get home tonight.
-
Off to the shower, then Taco Bell, then the theater, then Margo's for a bit to help her with something, then home.
-
Whew!
-
Until later!

Good idea though don't get sick sitting in the air conditioner with a wet shirt.

No, don't go near this.
-
It wasn’t hot enough here. I made soup.
-
Spiced Moroccan garbanzo bean, marinated lamb and gremolata soup. very aromatic.
-
Trying hard to wake up from a nap. Feeling lazy.
-
I'm glad Birdy JB is doing better.
-
When I ask Birdy Barnum to ring his bell, he does so and then jumps up into the "attic" of his cage for some conversation and kisses.
Sometimes he does it on his own in order to get close up attention. I would say he has me trained very well.
-
I wonder how they got all of that information on one ticket for DR GEORGE's event this afternoon?
And those running times he gave yesterday really seem short for a dance recital....which in my experience can have running times as long as Gone With The Wind.
-
It is merely 84 degrees here, but my AC has been on most of the day.....to keep me a comfortable 74 degrees or so.
-

Birds and cats will do that.

Four!

A few years ago, I read a fun novel called Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors, which took Austen and put her in an Indian setting. Now I'm listening to the sequel, Recipe for Persuasion, which focuses on a minor character from the first novel. It's not too much like Persuasion. It's it's own work. And it's really enjoyable.
-
Hello, 1 guest.
-
I'm off in a few to go dancing.
-
I really hope the air conditioning is working tonight.
-
Good luck it is working.
-
Our temps have cooled down from 106 to 102 degrees.
-
~~~COOLING OFF VIBES~~~ for those DRs as needs 'em!!!!!
-
Gratuitous Post #98!
-
But aren't they all?
-
Lucky 100!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Watched the Red Riding trilogy, which I finally located in the garage. It's very dark but satisfying in the end. The first time I watched it it was occasionally like watching a foreign film due to the heavy Yorkshire accents - this time I was smart and turned on the subtitles. When I first watched it I didn't know who the lead was in the first movie - now I do: Andrew Garfield. Jim Carter is also in it (he of Downton Abbey), and a few other actors who are known. My favorite performance is by Paddy Considine, and actor I don't know at all - he has a real Dirk Bogarde vibe to him. Superb. More in the notes.
-
Well, the dance event went well. People were masked and no one complained.
-
It lasted a little over an hour and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
-
I was going to drive through the west side Wendy's. However, when I got there, they had a sign on their ordering kiosk saying that some equipment malfunctioned, but that they'd be open at 8:30 the next morning.
-
I certainly wasn't going to wait that long, nor get there that early, so I decided to go to the Subway in Tumwater that's closest to my house.
-
I'm there now enjoying my diet Coke after eating half a meatball marinara sub sandwich.
-
I bought a footlong, and will have the other half later tonight for my later dinner.
-
Now, I'm going to continue to enjoy my diet Coke and read my Kindle in the very pleasantly air conditioned Subway restaurant, until I'm ready to head back out into the heat o' the sun (a The Frogs reference...among others ;) ) and go home.
-
This is the temp here right now:
-
I don't want to go home, yet. ::)
-
If I'm still not ready, I could walk around Fred Meyer for a while, too.
-
We'll see...but for now, back to my Kindle and diet Coke. :)
-
I'm home and this is my bedroom just a few minutes ago:
-
Who's going to beat that??
-
Finally, the temperature is going down.
-
My weather app says it's now only 94° here in Tumwater.
-
It's still pretty warm in my bedroom, but it's cooling as the sun has now sunk below the horizon.
-
Back from dancing, and I am exhausted.
-
So I am off to bed.
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
What a coinkydink! At 9:59, it was 95.9°!
-
I just turned it on for the first time in my condo.
-
Naturally, it scared the crap out the kitties.
We have lost George.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
We have lost George.
Have no fear, for I am here! ;)
-
Or have we LOST HORIZON?
-
Hello, George.
-
I'm sitting at my Windows XP computer, watching a previous episode of Antiques Roadshow, after watching the PBS showing of She Loves Me.
-
T.O.D.
isn’t it a waste of time to take CD’s to a desert island. There won’t be any electricity.
-
Since my Windows XP computer is no longer Internet capable, I'm moving files from that to a flash drive so that I can work on them on my Windows 10 computer.
-
T.O.D.
isn’t it a waste of time to take CD’s to a desert island. There won’t be any electricity.
Makes perfect sense! ;D
-
Or even a dessert island. At least there you could eat the palm tree.
-
Back from the playlet and the Coral Cafe - must now write notes.
-
I must get ready for bed.
Good night, George.
Good night, BK.
