Well, you've read the notes, the notes arrived, and now it is time for you to post until the arriving cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HALE!
-
A Question for BK: now that the Blu-rays have been received, will everything ship out soon, or are you still waiting for either the CD or the songbook? Inquiring minds want to know! ;D
-
For those who ordered the CD and folio with the Blu - it will all ship at once - otherwise it just gets way too costly with postage and the ten-CD perk practically killed us because there were so many overseas orders for that one. But here's what you can do in the meantime - mosey on over to Amazon and leave a review - we really need to get some right away. Who will be first. Most of you have seen the show, the thriller, AND Outside the Box, so can comment on all of it. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0989T3N7Z/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=tonight%27s+the+night+bruce+kimmel&qid=1625039473&s=movies-tv&sr=1-1

Good morning, all!
-
The NY Board of Elections has screwed up again, and the primary election ballots will be recounted.
-
It wasn't a good night of sleep. It wasn't the heat. I was restless and up too often. Faithful Thatch stayed with me most of the night, and Stella was actually well-behaved.
-
Last night we watched Rally Round the Flag, Boys!, a film I loved as a kid although I completely missed at that age the sexual frustration that motivates most of the film. Sadly, it wasn't as funny as I remembered it, and I thought Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were both forcing the comedy, while Joan Collins didn't miss a trick. I did love the supporting cast.
-
I had forgotten the rationale for the Pilgrims-Indians pageant at the end, but as I watched that sequience I wondered if the writer(s) of the second Addams Family movie (Paul Rudnick?) with Raul Julia and Angelica Huston had stolen his equally disastrous pageant from the earlier film.
-
good morning
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Happy that the Blu-Rays have landed.
-
{{{HUGS}}} for DR vixmom and family.

At the eleventh hour, the state Department of Human Services budget has been passed, meaning no shut-down and furlough.
Color me relieved.

DR vixmom, I continue to hope for a happy outcome!

Good morning, all.

My first Phase 4 album was Stokowski’s Scheherazade which was also my introduction to that piece. I was probably just in high school and I was very taken by it, but when I acquired the miniature score and attempted to reconcile what I was hearing with what was on the page, I was flummoxed in regard to a few things he had done with the orchestration. All I can remember of that now was possibly a passage with xylophones, which may or may not be correct.
It wasn’t till several years later that I had my second Phase 4, the Herrmann/Hitchcock thrillers. I played that to death, as I did the later release with Citizen Kane, etc., and the even later one with Herrmann’s fantasy scores. I know I’m forgetting a few others, but that was about it for me, Phase 4-wise, till present day when I much better appreciate what they were doing with that technology. There’s fun music to be had there.
-
Good morning!
-
I probably saw Rally Round the Flag, Boys! as a kid, too - it seems impossible that I wouldn’t have - but I don’t remember anything of it. I’d enjoy watching it now, regardless of its overall quality, and definitely that Pilgrims-Indians scene.
-
I can only think of two Phase 4 recordings I had: "Gaite Parisienne" and Sean Connery reading Peter and the wolf and Britten's Young Person's Guide.

Oh hell, yes. I knew I was forgetting some. And there’s a Stokowski-Ives one I liked.
-
Today is the last day of our current heat wave, which pleases me.
-
My other Peter and the Wolf (my first one) was with Lorne Greene reading, which I got through the RCA record club.
-
I keep thinking it's Thursday.

Rehearsal was okay last night.....I kept the guys after it was over to go over their choreography....and to teach them how to polka correctly.
Of course before that, they were being instructed by a "helpful" woman in the cast.....she was confusing them with her "directions" which finally ended when I stood next to her and just started watching....
She also says that she must wear her tan character shoes in the show because that is what is comfortable for her even though I have requested black flat dance shoes or slippers. So wear them, honey - you'll look as out of place as you sound in your solos - I mean your group singing where you do your own thing.
-
Ah, the joys of divas in Community Theater.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! The live streaming part of the virtual ALA conference is over, but I still have some "on demand" sessions cued up. Not sure how long I have to watch those...
-
Indeed DR singdaw.
-
Things are moving along apace.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
BK, should I have received my 10 pack of CDs by now? The only perk I’ve received is the latest novel.
-
:)
-
Good Morning. - I'm caught up on my Kritzerland ordering.
-
Nothing else exciting is happening in my neck of the woods. It's still a little cool for summer for my taste, I'm hoping that changes - or just wait for late August/September for summer weather to appear.
-
Singdaw, that cartoon is hilarious.

May I suggest a trip to visit George and TCB?

Right? I definitely was not complaining about the weather, just an observation. :-)
-
The weather has been really hot here as well. Although I have AC and my sister has AC. So we are fine.

Today - it's suppose to be 72F. Right now is chilly and overcast. Granted, I am on the Peninsula in the Bay Area, inland California and south and north is always warmer.

Thanks, I suspect Friday will be my last day

It’s raining, and I’m happy.
It's cloudy and cool here in Tumwater...at least, so far. I don't know if it'll clear up as the day goes on, but it's really nice right now!
-
I think I’ll update my resume but take the summer for myself unless an extraordinary opportunity presents itself. I’m thinking about maybe driving down to visit the kids

The postman just delivered the mail
-
Poor guy was dripping from the heat
-
He was very happy with the cold LaCroix I offered him
-
BUT my Blu-ray of Tonights the Night was not in his mailbag
-
Accordingly I have filed a PayPal dispute
-
I shall also be asking to see a manager

My sister posted on Facebook yesterday afternoon that she was home alone during a severe thunderstorm warning and the power was out. When she hadn't posted anything further by noon today, I called both her landline and cell phone and got voicemail. She finally called back about an hour ago and said they still don't have power, but are otherwise OK. She said it was a doozy of a storm and trees are down, traffic lights are out, stores are closed due to no power and so forth. She was just staying dark on social media to conserve battery power until her husband got their generator going.

I thought you might go visit them during your unwanted break from employment.

A smart move that didn't keep you from worrying a bit.

Their power was restored about an hour ago and she’s back on the grid!

I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.

Horrible news about Bill Cosby.

Lake District, Northern England:
-
Had a pulled pork sandwich (excellent) and a little side of mac-and-cheese.
-
Had a telephonic conversation.
-
And now I shall be on my way to the mail place.

Great.

Horrible news about Bill Cosby.
Reading the facts I understand the legal reason, still :(
-
Lake District, Northern England:
Beautiful.
-
Scorched plants everywhere.
-
Yes, the prosecution screwed up - they had no choice, really. Everyone's saying it's because he's rich, but that has nothing to do with the screw-up.
-
Back from picking up both important envelopes.

Horrible news about Bill Cosby.
I know. :P

Ditto, and ditto.

The first spring we moved here we the area filled with beautiful blooming rhododendrons. Now when we walk they mostly look like the photo of the scorched plants :(
-
Cosby insists he is innocent and the women had consented to being drugged and having sex. Maybe he truly believes this, and maybe his wife believes him. Supposedly she is happy he is being released. Fine, but why she has stayed married to him boggles my mind.

Starting Jazz on a Summer's Day. The movie is fairly incredible. Seems to have been filmed with a crew of about two.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
BK, if you could make a documentary, what would the subject be?
-
Waiting for my BBQ to get here from Amazon so I can bit by bit, put it together. I have the gas already to go. I haven't had an outside BBQ for almost 6 years as the place I was in last time didn't allow them. I read and re-read my lease for this place and it specifically said "No charcoal BBQ's" so I think I'm ok. I was told when I moved in to just keep it covered - so I bought a cover as well.
-
Sounds nice, Matthew. What do like to grill?

Anything from steak to veggies.

I’ll be there tomorrow.

You've heard about frying eggs on the sidewalk? Well, now our friends in the Northwest have:
-
Good night, friends.
-
I don't think I want to eat mailbox lasagna. Maybe it's just me.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Listening to some Khachaturian. Fun. The bird likes it.
-
I also managed to get the first 60 pages of a Maigret novel read during a bath. I would say that they're like popcorn, but there's more substance to them than, say, the Cat Who ... novels, which really are popcorn. Not to denigrate them. I read 20 or so of those.
-
David Geffen has given $150 million to the Yale Drama School, which will allow the school to offer tuition for free. That's cool.
-
I'm tired. I think I'm going to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
I might do a documentary about MY Los Angeles. Otherwise, so many have covered topics I'd have been interested in.
-
Finished with my viewing.

I started to set it up - it's not easy. I got almost half way through and ran out of light. I'll finish in the morning. Makes you appreciate IKEA!

Good luck Matthew! My condo complex doesn't allow "regular" barbecues within 10 feet of the wooden fences, and my back yard is about 16-feet square, which means I can't have a barbecue in my back yard because it would be no more than 8 feet from a wooden fence. ::)
-
We can use the little propane grills that use only the small bottles, not the big tanks. So, no barbecues for me.

Gratuitous Post #111!
-
So, a couple of weeks ago, I bought this laserdisc release of Into the Woods:
-
Including shipping and tax, it cost me the princely sum of $7.66. :)
-
Coincidentally, I also bought a lot of seven laserdiscs that included THIS release of Into the Woods:
-
So, now I have two different releases, but the numbers are the same: the UPC code (014381828566) AND the product number (ID8285MB).
-
All of the text on the back is the same, but in a different font with slightly different pictures, and of course, the main image art on each jacket is different.
-
I just noticed that the essay on the back of the version of the first picture that I posted is credited to Garrett M. Lee, but that name is not anywhere on the back of the release with the green cover art.
-
Interesting. :-\
-
And now...
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-

Who are you calling a diva?

-
I think we are.
-
We're just sitting here like so much fish.

It is a time for postings.

Maybe people are recovering from the heat?
