Post by: elmore3003 on July 06, 2021, 03:58:30 AM: Last night, rather than watch the remainder of Mozart's funny as a crutch Abduction from the Seraglio, I watched Act One of the Glyndebourne production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville with Maria Ewing, Max-René Cosotti, and John Rawnsley. This was written about 30 years after Seraglio, and it's funny in all departments: the plot and situations are funny and Rossini's music is funny. The Act One finale, from the drunk soldier's arrival (actually the romantic lead in disguise) to the arrival of the police, is absolutely brilliant.

I do love Mozart, and his Marriage of Figaro is a brilliant comedy, but he sure missed the boat on The Seraglio.

It's weird; they poke you and prod you, and you can hear your blood making weird noises as it courses through your veins.

I have been wearing compression socks, and that seems to help a great deal.

More than anyone wanted to know, I'm sure.

I barely mentioned half of what I told my previous doctor about my symptoms and he asked all the right questions, then told me what he wanted done. He didn't ask if I wanted a referral or offer a second appointment to discuss my stomach issues. He ordered the cancer test, as he should have since I was overdue for one, and set up a referral with a specialist to discuss an endoscopic ultrasound. Maybe I will have one, maybe not but at least my doctor is listening & concerned.

There's another kind of vessel too, I think, made out of clay. You soak it in water for a long time, then put it in a hot oven and it steams the food inside. Probably totally unrelated to a tagine.

Fortunately we were on our way back to the hotel for a shot break and I could call her. I never know if calls like this or good news or sad news about a mutual school friend. This time is was good news :)

She also wanted an easy vegetarian recipe for the wedding shower of her soon to be daughter in-law who is a vegetarian. I just sent three recipes, including mushroom cutlets from the first vegetarian meal she ever served us.

BTW, if you have a Thousand Villages store in your town, that would be the best place to look for a tagine. The prices there on tagines are far better than, say, Sur la Table or Williams-Sonoma. They're also handmade and look better.

Must be two different places. I don't think the chili dog place (Eagan's) has potato salad. They might, but I've never asked for it, so I'm not really sure.
