Well, you've read the notes, the notes had evidence of the planting of The Kiss, and now it is time for you to post until the kissing kows kome home.
-
And the word of the day is: INSOUCIANT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Nice screen shot, BK, except that it looks like she's kissing you!
-
Topic of the Day: I haven't watched either of these all the way through, but I'd seen parts of The Apple and Zardoz. ::)
-

That's what I'm talkin' about.
-
Well, I need to go to sleep so I can be up in time to drive my mom to the SeaTac airport, then go to work.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all!

Another strange night. I remember no dreams but I remember that the horrible Mrs Moss, unaffectionately known among Barnes & Noble employees as Bat Girlm was in one of them. She was an elderly woman who walked with two crutches who used to come into Barnes & Noble when I worked there and treat the employees horribly with customer service questions that implied "why are you so damned stupid, ugly, short, etc. while I am such a genius, and being overly kind and solicitous to new employees so she could cadge favors like making a phone call on a store line, which was forbidden. She was an absolute horror.
-
Then I woke up with "I am ashamed that women are so simple" from Kiss Me, Kate running through my head. It still is.
-
First thing this morning, I'm getting an Amazon Fresh delivery, then Michael arrives for his very last day of work. I will miss him, but frankly, with this damned property tax bill, I can no longer afford to keep him on.

So, while he's here, I have three projects: cat food, moving some scores, and organizing a huge pike of books into categories.

My mother had her follow up appointment with the wrist surgeon yesterday. All seems to be setting nicely, and to her relief the big, bulky cast has been replaced with a removable brace.
-
I think the most incomprehensible films I've seen are a few Andy Warhol messes, a semi-pornographic incoherent mess of a film called Thundercrack!, and Pasolini's Teorema.

That's excellent news!

In Londson today, a memorial to Bob the Street Cat will be unveiled at Islington Green subway station, I wish I could be there for it.
-
DR elmore3003, I hope you can at least visit it some day.
-
What is this PAGE ONE malarkey?
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
Eraserhead comes to mind. So do the films of Chantal Ackerman and Hollis Frampton, two Criterion favorites. There must be more.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think the most incomprehensible films I've seen are a few Andy Warhol messes, a semi-pornographic incoherent mess of a film called Thundercrack!, and Pasolini's Teorema.
I saw the West Coast premiere of Thundercrack! in a midnight showing at LA's "Filmex" in the late seventies.
I do have some Ackerman and Frampton here, and should watch them.
-
I saw the premiere of Eraserhead in the same venue, the large theater at the Plitt Century City. That one might have been 35mm, but Thundercrack!, of which I believe no more than five prints ever existed, was 16mm, projected onto the screen that comfortably held 70mm epics.
-
I've got some Pasolini here, but no Teorama.
-
DR elmore3003, I hope you can at least visit it some day.
I hope so, too!
-
The Amazon Fresh delivery sneaked into the building, left four cartons at my door without ringing my bell. and I only knew it was here because an email from Amazon told me.
-
The unveiling has occurred. Here's the memorial and Jim Bowen, Bob's best friend.

That's nice DR ELMORE.

Travel vibes for the mother of DR GEORGE.

That's nice DR ELMORE.
It sure is!

Travel vibes for the mother of DR GEORGE.
Yes, indeed!

I've got some Pasolini here, but no Teorama.
It’s on Criterion now.
-
Washington Post has a recipe for Puerto Rican potato salad with apples in it. Can’t make up my mind on that.
-
The dressing has stuffed olives, cilantro, roasted red peppers and green bell pepper in it.
-
Nice Photo In The Notes.

Nice Photo In The Notes.
Yes. It was, indeed.

Good Morning - things are going well in this neck of the woods.
Vibes to all who need them!

That sounds like a wild recipe, DR John G.!
Are there any potatoes in it?

I feel very fortunate to be able to look out my living room window (which I face when I sit or stand at my work desk) and see a gorgeous line of trees. There is just a strip of trees between me and the mighty Mississippi River.
-
I had planned a different configuration when they first sent us home from the office at the beginning of the pandemic, but my tech setup requires me to be very close to the cable router, so the living room it is.
We then had to get a headphone setup for the television, so the DH can watch tv while I work on the phone, if he chooses.
-
73% of our polled workers want to continue working from home full time.
It remains to be seen if they'll let us.
-
It's no big deal to me, as the office is only 2 miles from where I live, but I'd still prefer to keep working from home.
-
My mother had her follow up appointment with the wrist surgeon yesterday. All seems to be setting nicely, and to her relief the big, bulky cast has been replaced with a removable brace.
I know she is very happy right now.

Bruce, I am sorry but there is no way we can go to LA by September.
-
Back in the 1970s, there was a German novel everyone had in all the homes I went to over there. The title roughly translates to … And Jimmy went over the rainbow. Must have been a huge bestseller.
The other day, while touring Mom’s new apartment, I opened her pantry and there on the top shelf was the book.
-
I found out online that it had been translated into English as the Caesar Code. It was a post WWII thriller.
I looked on Amazon for a copy. They had three used paperback copies with a price starting at $902.
-
I checked a few other sites and bought a copy on alibris.com for $2. It’s being shipped to the house while I’m gone.

… und Jimmi ging zum Regenbogen

What a good day! Joshie showed up, and he and Michael loaded eight cartons going to Joshie and off they went to City Center. I am so happy to get that all out of my apartment.

DR elmore3003 splurged with a purge!

We just dropped off my mom at the airport. Larry drove and I went in with her as far as the security line. Now, I'm just waiting outside for Larry to pick me up.

Wow!
Eventually you're going to have room in there to... what was the expression?... swing a cat!

Good news, Singdaw!

That's pretty cool!

Hopefully, the pandemic will have helped a lot of companies and their people (but especially the companies) to be much more open to the possibilities of working from home.
I was very fortunate to have worked for those people in Dallas who had already had one or two people doing it, and I fit right in to that mold. I had a good enjoyable nine years of work-at-home employment.
-
Here are four shots of Bob's memorial unveiling. In the first photo James has the urn with Bob's ashes. The red band around the urn is Bob's collar.

Travel vibes for the mother of DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand! Her flight only takes an hour, and when Margita picks her up, they're going directly to the local casino...and a good time will be had by all. ::)

The Mole People - incomprehensible.

I think I will take a short nap before I leave for Box office Duty.

Good news about DR singdaw's maw.

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Was up from seven to eight, too.
-
I checked a few other sites and bought a copy on alibris.com for $2. It’s being shipped to the house while I’m gone.
I hope it arrives safely and you are pleased with it.
-
I wish all flights were only an hour away, especially when wearing a mask.
-
Do they have Phase 10 tables at the casino?
-
My daily iron supplement looks just like an M&M. But it's not nearly as much fun.
-
Thanks, Elmore. Now it’s running through my brain:
So, no wonder that your servant
Has a cock-eyed point of view
For he dreams all day
Of everything gay
But he dreams the whole night through
Of dirt, garbage and you.
-
I hear Alice Playton singing that.
And I wonder, was that replaced by the worse song, I Sing of Love?

Back from storage - back from picking up a package - back from getting Subway for food - first time in a year-and-a-half - ate the sandwich - Subway Club, which is now not what it used to be - no roast beef, with bacon instead, which I didn't want, so got without. It wasn't very good.
-
There is a peripatetic fly that got in here. Just waiting for it to land somewhere so I can do away with it.
-
Do they have Phase 10 tables at the casino?
Margita was never a Phase 10 player, so it doesn't matter if they do or not.

I'd just recently read that they're going to bring back the roast beef...but I don't know when it'll happen.

DR Vixmom have you heard back regarding the interview you went on? Maybe it is too soon.
-
Today was Nelson and Jeanette Day on TCM. We caught the end of Maytime.
-
Now, it’s Blue Hawaii. Dig that crazy Angela Lansbury.

I just read...
"Los Angeles County will reinstate its mask mandate regardless of vaccination status starting 11:59 p.m. Saturday night amid a rise in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations."

'night

One more...

FOUR!

Very funny cattoons, Singdaw.

Good night, all.

Good! We need that reinstated here in Washington. My sister's boyfriend told me today that two counties in eastern Washington have the highest new Covid rates of pretty much anywhere on the west coast! :o

At least they didn’t leave it in the lobby!

No I guess they went with someone else

I never has a true appreciation for how big Brooklyn is until today
-
Also I was unaware that today was “ Everyone In The World Must Drive In Brooklyn Day
-
It was widely celebrated
-
Perhaps celebrated isn’t the right word
-
Heavens knows I wasn’t celebrating taking 45 minutes to go 10 miles
-
But I did it all the same
-
A young friend of mine, a recent college graduate, was relocating from the Midwest to Brooklyn
-
He had been staying in temporary lodgings while he looked for a place he could afford
-
Today he was to sign the Lease and take possession of his place
-
He asked me to come along as he had never signed a lease and was a bit nervous
-
I was happy to do it for him so I picked him up in one part of Brooklyn (after a 90 minute commute ) and drive to the management co with him
-
I am glad I did because there were several items in the lease that were incorrect and/or detrimental and they failed to prorate his rent payment since he was coming in on the 15th
-
Yep, leave it to our idiot mayor to do this crap. EVERY case that's caused the rise involves people who aren't vaccinated. There is not a shred of evidence that those people have infected anyone who's vaccinated, but they try to infer that that's the case. There were 180 deaths of fully vaccinated people from Covid, but as always here they don't tell us if the Covid was actually the cause, which I'm quite certain in most cases would prove to not be the cause, nor do they ever report about false positives. And perhaps someone can explain why, as far as I've seen, we are the only city anywhere to do this. I'm FURIOUS. And of course the CDC has said nothing about this at all and CA is notorious for making it up as they go.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
It took nearly two hours but we came to an agreement he signed off
-
Then we drive to the new place to be sure the keys and door security code worked
-
Then we drive to the temporary lodgings to collect his bags
-
Then we drove to Target to get some essentials
-
Including something to sleep on
-
We found a small futon that not only would serve admirably but also was on sale at 40% off
-
And it was the last one
-
Then we drove back to his new place
-
Then we carted all his purchases up to his non air conditioned third floor walk up
-
Including the futon
-
I definitely got my cardio in today
-
I left my house at 8 am and returned 12 hours later
-
Exhausted
-
But it was worth it he was so grateful and very happy
-
I was very lucky in parking though I must say
-
I was able to find street parking at every place we went except the Target which has a parking garage
-
And when we needed to unload the futon we actually found a spot right in front of his building
-
I think I must sleep now
-
Good night all
-
Almost forgot
-
Nice picture in the notes BK!
-
A representative of the department of labor called me today to follow up on my ID verification
-
She took the information about my difficulties applying and said it will nit be held against me and that when I receive payments it will retroactively include payments from my date of separation from my employer
-
And now good night
-
It's no big deal to me, as the office is only 2 miles from where I live, but I'd still prefer to keep working from home.
Vibes they let you work from home
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
There are several people in my building who will be working from home from now on. And a couple of other people will now mostly work from home, and when they come in, they'll be sharing an office. It's a whole new world (an Aladdin reference) at work.
-
Heavens knows I wasn’t celebrating taking 45 minutes to go 10 miles
I feel your pain! After I left my mom's today, I drove to the local McDonald's at Hawk's Prairie for lunch and when I got to the I-5 entrance on-ramp, it literally took me 20 minutes to drive about a mile to the actual highway! :o
-
It's a very long on-ramp, but it normally only takes a minute!
-
It took nearly two hours but we came to an agreement he signed off
That's great, Vixmom! Good for you!
-
She took the information about my difficulties applying and said it will nit be held against me and that when I receive payments it will retroactively include payments from my date of separation from my employer
Very nice!
-
So, even though my mom is in Spokane, since I'll be at her house cat-sitting, my niece is going to come over and we'll play Phase 10.
-
And Dee, one of the women who plays with us each week, might also come over, too.
Dee's adult son is visiting, so he might also play, but I don't know if he's been vaccinated. :-\
-
He may be, but I just don't know.
-
I'll bring my mask, just in case. ::)
-
Dee's adult son is visiting, so he might also play, but I don't know if he's been vaccinated. :-\
There is a vaccine to cure your addiction to Phase 10?
