Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a notes pandemic, and now it is time for you to post until the pandemic cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CURTAL!
-
Topic of the Day: No. I don't get unabashedly angry at anything.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's raining this morning, and I am worried I will have trouble catching a taxi to my appointment.
-
I did sleep well, for the most part.
-
When I got out of bed, the cats were batting something around the floor. I thought it was a toy at first, but it was a dead baby mouse. There hasn't been a mouse in this apartment since they came in with my new fridge and stove in 2012, and it took a lot of time to get rid of them.
-
Ann and Jen have mice on the fifth floor, but I thought mice would smell the cats and stay out.
-
The cat tree has become Thatch's new hangout. Whenever I can't find him, he's usually sleeping inside this little hut these days.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Well, guess who just had a gastrointestinal attack and had to cancel his appointment! Damn.
-
It would be easier if I knew how to pronounce Dermksian, this doctor's last name.
https://www.northwell.edu/find-care/find-a-doctor/orthopaedic-surgery/dr-jeffrey-vahe-dermksian-md-11357439
-
Oy!
-
The only thing I'm doing today - and tomorrow - is staying the hell inside, except for my somewhat monthly dinner meeting with my director friend which is this evening. This place has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, and while it will be very warm, it might be nice to sit outside which by then will be on the shady side of their building. We'll see.
-
I called to change my appointment, and I got a message telloing me they were open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Did I get the appointment date wrong? I left a message saying I was quite puzzled.
-
I just got an email telling me my appointment today has been canceled, so they got my message. I'll have to call tomorrow and reschedule.
-
Congrats to DR JANE on her millstone.
-
Yes again today we have a heat advisory.....so I am doing some laundry this morning so I will be finished with the dryer by 10 a.m.
-
I like The Donna Reed Show but I HATE the theme song....it's such a big nothing!
-
I need to research cable modems and routers. We've decided to quit paying the monthly charge to use Comcast's and invest in something of better quality that will give stronger reception throughout the house. I just wish I knew someone who's an expert at this stuff who could shortcut this.
-
TOD:
I think I mentioned my experience at WalMart at the beginning summer.....
Many many years ago, my friends and I were attending a production of 42nd Street at the Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre....and it was about as expected. I was talking to my friends and mentioned that the song "There's A Sunny Side To Every Situation" seemed to have been cut.
One of the young waitresses interrupted me and told me that NO songs had been cut from the production....it was complete..... I said no, a song is missing. She continued to argue with me - maybe it was the party line they were instructed to go by. Finally I just said in my best BK Voice: "When we did it in New York, there was another song."
She walked away.
-
Yes DR TCB - there was Mary....about my only hope at this point in my life.....
-
We're under three (count 'em) heat advisories/watches/warnings.
It's supposed to be 90 by noon and 96 by 3 pm.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I wish I had words of wisdom, DR ChasSmith, but technology mostly confounds me.
-
Hope you feel better, DR elmore3003.
-
LOVE the photo of Thatch!
-
Hope you feel better, DR elmore3003.
Yes indeed. Lordy, there is nothing like a "G.I. day".
-
Vibes for Elmore
-
I had quite a temper when I was younger. I’m much more tolerant now
-
Thursday morning greetings! The work continues on our basement. They’re supposed to finish tomorrow, but Richard and I have our doubts.
-
So, I emailed the company that the basement people recommended for replacing our front porch. Elizabeth’s response was:
“We’re complexly booked until November 2022.”
I’m sure she meant “completely,” but her version has great potential…
-
I had a 90-minute lie down with Stella, and I am feeling much better. The Tizanidine I take whenever I step out for appointments makes me very drowsy.
-
I am complexly booked as well.
-
DR VIXMOM I hope you get some unemployment $$ before you get a job.
-
Kathryn from the box office says that we are refunding about 35 tickets a day.... And there a few out of county folks who show up to see the show - but they are most understanding when they find out that it's canceled.
-
DR Vixmom major vibes on the position that allows you to work from home!
-
Quote from: singdaw on August 11, 2021, 12:56:12 PM
The MN Governor today has announced that all state agency workers working outside the home will be required to show proof of vaccination to retain employment.
Good, I say, and about time.
From TCB:
And why are people protesting that?
Even more baffling is why people protest that they have to wear a mask to enter a hospital.
-
From TCB:
Especially with hospital workers. If I am very ill from Co-vid, and have to go the hospital, I certainly want to know that the staff is vaccinated!
True. And if I have to go into the hospital for something else I want to reduce my chances of the staff giving me covid.
-
Thanks for the vibes Tom.
-
Ann and Jen have mice on the fifth floor, but I thought mice would smell the cats and stay out.
Three cats and three dogs did not stop the mice from crossing the room during the day.
This was during our mouse invasion in Pennsylvania.
-
Sweet photo of Thatch.
-
It is supposed to reach 104 degrees today.
-
I am complexly booked as well.
Aren’t we all, DR JRand, aren’t we all?
-
I've had an interesting 30 minutes: my appointment with Dr Dermksian is now scheduled for Monday morning and I got an orchestration job.
-
Great new on both fronts, DR elmore3003!!
-
I get mad a lot at uncaring, unthinking, selfish people, but I never express it or act on it. Like I said yesterday, these days at the slightest provocation people are likely to pull out a gun and shoot you.
-
The perversion of the 2nd amendment has not been a force for good in this country.
-
In case I didn't make it clear, I am quite happy that the NRA declared bankruptcy.
-
Now we have gun owners suing the State Fair here in MN to be able to bring guns into the fair. High density, alcohol, and hot temperatures. A recipe for disaster. You won't find me anywhere near there if they win their lawsuit.
-
We have tickets for the immersive Van Gogh exhibit in Minneapolis in late September. I wonder if it will still even happen.
-
I've had an interesting 30 minutes: my appointment with Dr Dermksian is now scheduled for Monday morning and I got an orchestration job.
So, now you’re complexly booked, too, DR Elmore!
-
LOL DR GINNY!
-
I got a notice that my copy of the Pennebaker Company documentary Blu Ray has shipped from Criterion.

His name is being set to music??
-
I'm up, I'm up - six-and-a-half hours of sleep.
-
I don't mind irritation, but I do have a tipping and/or boiling point and I am, I'm afraid, very bad when that happens. I try not to be, would LIKE not to be, but yesterday was just too much, but the result of it wasn't worth it and was dangerous, so at my age I really need to just, as Liza said, shine it on.
-

Funny pictures, Singdaw!! :))

Hello, everyone.
-
Today was intended as a quiet, relaxing day. The first irritant was the too-early call from a telemarketer. A polite voice with an Indian accent who said he was calling from the orthopedic center. Had I let him continue I know he would have asked about the pain in my knees. My knees have no pain. In fact, they are one of the few areas of my body that do not. They assume that most people have arthritic knees and thus begins their sales pitch. I hung up. But it frosts me that people do this.
-
LOL DR singdaw.
-
DR ELMORE did you ever throw a ping pong ball in the bath tub for the kitties to play with?
-
I won't go on about the washer that shuts itself off with a full load of wet clothes/towels/sheets or the other irritating telemarketing call. Somehow the laundry got done and I had a reasonably productive day.
But irritants? They ABOUND!
-

Basement vibes -- and patience -- to DR Ginny and Richard.

Yes, everyone is assuming that the visitors bring it in, but the staff or patients could be spreading it as well.

A very interesting interview in the NY Times with a doctor who has much insight into vaccines:

TOD:
When I was in my twenties I flipped someone the bird in traffic and the guy came after me. I had to do some fancy footwork -- in my car -- to lose him. I am careful now to keep my hand where they cannot see it. Too many people are full of stress or rage and ready to come loose at any provocation. I find that the best way to deal with stress in traffic is to allow plenty of time. That doesn't guarantee an absence of stress, but it does help to reduce it.
-
Last night TCB posted:
I have not been too warm all day, but suddenly, at almost midnight I am breaking out in a sweat.
Tom, you're having a hot flash.

It's 93 degrees here today. I stayed in.

Either a patient or a staff worker began the spread of covid at our local hospital. Spread it did. My endoscopy is at the out patient surgery across the street from the hospital.

DR George you might find the article interesting.

The new restaurant in the building next to us had a soft opening tonight. Yesterday I made reservations for us and another couple in our building. I had to say where we live in order to get the reservations.
-
What I didn't know is that we would only be charged for our drinks.
-
Dinner was excellent and we plan to return. The bar was also very good.
-
Our favorite waitress from Beaches looked very pretty in her new uniform and was happy to be working there. She was also our waitress tonight.

Yes I have, and theirs was one of overviews I skimmed through today.

Good night, friends.
-
Good evening.
I had a nice day in northern Arizona.
-
When I get angry at someone, I wiggle my left hand fingers at them. It doesn't mean anything to anyone else but me, so they don't know what I'm thinking. The wiggling represents rattling, like a rattlesnake. And offering your left hand is an insult in some cultures.
-
Back from a fun lunch meeting and then a brief sound meeting at the Group Rep.
-
Currently eighty-two degrees in the home environment - cooling down now.
-
I came across several very polite drivers today. People were good about letting me into traffic. Maybe that's because I wasn't in Phoenix most of the day.

I'd love to have a good restaurant in walking distance. It's open only for residents on a temporary basis or a permanent one?

Did a Ralph's run - just for beverages - three twelve-packs of Diet Coke and about twenty bottles of Sparkling Ice, twelve of which are my favorite flavor, Grape Raspberry. Another favorite, Lemon Lime, is rarely in stock - everyone must love that one - only one bottle. Thankfully, I found four bottles of Classic Lemonade.
-
I've been listening to and loving John Gay's The Beggar's Opera. I gather there are many versions including one adapted by Benjamin Britten. I've never heard a single version before and I am so loving the one I bought and so glad this is the one I took the chance on. It may not be what Mr. Gay had in mind, but I absolutely love this with orchestrations by Douglas Gamley - it's like a classic cast album. And what a cast - Sutherland, Kiri Te Kanawa, Angela Lansbury, and more. The orchestrations are absolutely lush and fantastic.

Sounds like a recording to get, so I just ordered it. I got a copy for $15 less than any other copy, but it's coming from England, so it'll take a month to get here...fine by me if it'll save $15. ;D

Well, 63% of stupid TV watchers in the Northwest don’t believe teachers and other school employees should be required to get the vaccine.

It only got up to 92 degrees in Puyallup today, but we are expecting a high of 101 degrees tomorrow.

Listening to the London CD of Guys and Dolls with Bob Hoskins. Would love to know who decided it was a good idea to make this cast recording ONE long track forty-six minutes. Inept.
-
Get me off this damn page.

I also listened to the 70s revival of Guys and Dolls, the all black cast. It's fun once you get past the completely weird orchestrations/arrangements.

I have to be up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow

The original CD release of The Phantom of the Opera was also made with one track on each disc. That also was a completely wrong idea. I remember that they quickly re-released the recording with each song on its own track. ::)

I have that recording, too. I remember only getting it because Ken Page who was in Ain't Misbehavin' was in it...then, I ended up liking it. :)

Hopefully, for a good reason!

What in tarnation is going on here? We've had such nice, strong posting days.

I gotta tell you.

I will say this - Guys and Dolls is one of the greatest B'way scores ever written.

Perfection.
