Well, you've read the notes, the notes breathed easier, and now it is time for you to post until the breathing easier cows come home.
-
Today's topic of discussion: NUMINOUS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
I downloaded and will listen to (more than watch) the Wicked in Concert video at work today.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Today's topic of discussion: NUMINOUS!
Topic of Discussion, or Word of the Day? :)
-
Thanks for the Wicked link, DR George.
-
Good morning, all!
-
My rhythms are off this morning. I blame former DR Jose.
-
I had one of my Barnes & Noble employee dreams, but I have no memory of what it was about now.
-
DR George, it's my experience with these PBS drives that the remainder of the two hours will be blithering idiots pimping for money and cooing over how wonderful Wicked is, how great the performers are, and how your donation will get you not only Wicked kitsch and more wonderful programs like this, but more endless fund drives.
-
I have no plans today. I don't have to dress up since I have no place to go.
-
I was confusing the Marx Brothers Monkey Business with the Cary Grant-Ginger Rogers Monkey Business. So, I must correct this and I will get the 1931 Monkey Business from Netflix.
-
TOD
A Night at the Opera
Duck Soup
-
I love the Paramount Marx Bros. movies.....the MGM movies not so much.....although I can sit through A Night at the Opera.
Duck Soup & Monkey Business are so funny. Animal Crackers does have its charms.
And I think it's Duck Soup that has my favorite Groucho quip:
"We're trapped in a bunker....it's four men and two women. Send help....if you can't send help - send two more women!"
-
And of course the apocryphal story of writer of the show George S. Kaufman standing in the back of the theatre during a performance of Animal Crackers....and saying to a friend: "Hold everything. I think I just heard something I wrote."
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Monday.
But -- I am hopeful, not a bad one.
-
So we have today and tomorrow in the 80s, the last two days of August, and on Wednesday, Sept. 1st, it drops to where our highs will be in the high 70s. How.......poetic.
-
Well, now you've all gone and done it. I'll have to take out the Marx Bros. movies.
-
Well, now you've all gone and done it. I'll have to take out the Marx Bros. movies.
I was thinking the same thing.
-
Logging on to work after three stress-free days is hard.

Love that’s only slightly soiled.
-
Can someone make this Tuesday? Please.
-
DR TCB I am glad your children are having fun together.
-
Tom good luck with all of your upcoming visits and tests.
-
Good morning.
-
We are supposed to get the remains of a hurricane later today and tomorrow. Luckily, by the time it gets here, it will be just rain.
-
DR George how old is Margo's puppy?
-
DR Laura good roof in the rain vibes!
-
Is anyone watching, or still watching, "Schmigadoon!"?
-
From Horsefeathers:
"The Dean is furious! He’s waxing wroth!" "Roth is here, too? Tell Roth to wax the Dean for a while."
was used to introduce a tax seminar on the Roth IRA.
-
That went with (in my bar review class): When Barbra Streisand sings "Meet a mortgagee" in FUNNY GIRL, that rhymes but Fanny is incorrect. She is a mortgagor. But it doesn't mean Barbra Streisand or the writers got it wrong. They're saying Fanny Brice is making the same mistake as so many other people.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Noon lunch has become a Zoom meeting and no lunch. Why? Too anxious to sit outside of a restaurant right now - not me, of course.

Probably, but I can cut out that crap. ;)

Monday afternoon greetings! We ventured to Morrow, Ohio, this morning to select the materials that will be used on our new front steps and patio. On the way there we passed 3 places where we stopped on the way home for produce, meats & deli items, and frozen custards. We have some nice meals lined up for a couple of days now.

Signed.

Nine or ten months, I think.

We are, too, DR Laura, but I suspect they’re different hurricanes. We’re expecting Ida this evening and all day tomorrow.

We watched last night and the pledge breaks were frequent. I’d be surprised if you have an hour of material after you remove them.
Oh, and I heard both “soundtrack” mentions >:(

Is Morrow, Ohio, named after Karen Morrow?

I think I am nearing the end of my Monday rope.
-
Is anyone watching, or still watching, "Schmigadoon!"?
DR Jane, I watched all 6 episodes. There were some mildly amusing moments sprinkled throughout.

I don’t know about that, DR John G, but I do know I missed the opportunity yesterday to say, “We’re going to Morrow tomorrow.”

Thanks. We are watching it now. I will expect about the same as what we have seen so far.

"Going Home Tomorrow" from King of Hearts could be re-cast as "Going Home to Morrow."

I think it came out to an hour and 6 or 7 minutes without pledge breaks.
-
Boo!
(DR vixmom, avert your eyes!)

Sounds like Annie.
To Morrow tomorrow
-
Good evening!
-
I also heard "soundtrack" mentioned twice in the Wicked special.
-
Not sure if I've ever seen a Marx Brothers movie all the way through. I should rectify that.
-
Boo!
(DR vixmom, avert your eyes!)
:D
-
It has been too long since I have seen a Marx Brothers film to remember which is my favorite.
-
Onward!
-
THREE!!!
-
Hello, 6 Guests!
-
Who ARE you people?
-
It has been too long since I have seen a Marx Brothers film to remember which is my favorite.
Ditto. :-\
-
And I don't know if I've seen one all the way through. ::)
-
Who ARE you people?
...[you] wonderful people out there in the dark.
-
I had a nice time this evening at my book group discussion.
-
The timing of reading this book, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou, made for a very interesting discussion.
-
The book is about Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos who just happens to be going on trial tomorrow for defrauding investors and patients.
-
We all agreed that she should be convicted.
-
We also agree that she is likely a sociopath.
-
I fear she may be found not-guilty.
-
A question about the Wicked concert. I don't recognize the tune that Jennifer Nettles sang for "No Good Deed" from the cast album. Is that an alternate version?
-
Good night, friends.

I loved that book.
-
Even though it was declared our clubhouse did not fall under the new masking regulations, and that any group of all vaccinated groups could go maskless, we all wore masks.
-
Fortunately, as it is only 67 degrees outside, the pool area was empty.
-
We took the discussion outside and removed our masks.
-
And, yes, she is a sociopath. And, if the preview of the defense is to be believed, a racist to boot.

I loved that book.
I wasn't thrilled with the first half, plus Elisabeth's behavior reminded me too much of my sister. Once Carreyrou began talking about his investigation it kept my attention.
Our group was split on who loved the book and who was a bit bored. We all enjoyed the discussion.
-

I missed the part about racist.
-
John, are you calling her a racist because she is using the boyfriend abused me defense?
-
John, are you calling her a racist because she is using the boyfriend abused me defense?
Yes.
-
In nothing I've read on her beyond the book does she ever come across as the victim of anybody else's influence. I realize that can be hidden, but it never fit the picture here.
-
I am tired.
-
I danced two hours tonight.
-
I know not all of the Marx Brothers movies are equally good. The ones I enjoy most, for a variety of reasons:
Duck Soup
Money Business
A Day at the Races
A Night at the Opera
Coconuts
Horse Feathers
-
I got to see a lot of their movies on the big screen, thanks to the revival cinema near the house. That contributed a lot to my enjoyment of them.
-
I was not a fan of Go West or Love Happy, even with Marilyn.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Hello, 1 guest!
-
Must go pack.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. I have just laughed for a solid one-hour-and fifty-minutes. I mean, big, belly laughing. More about that in the notes.
-
The Zoom meeting was fine - talked about two projects and chose one to explore.
-
Then I picked up two important envelopes and an unexpected third envelope with a decent residual for The Faculty. It's put gas in the motor car and pay for about five meals.
-
Maybe eight meals, depending on the meal.
-
Then I did a few things on the computer, had some telephonic calls, gave notes on a chart for a song, and then watched the movie.
-
Oh, did a Gelson's run and got stuff for two meals - first meal was about four ounces of their rigatoni with meat sauce, very calorie friendly, and a tiny bit of fried rice, just to try it - it was pretty good. And for later, a chicken Caesar salad.
-
And now, I shall listen to some music and cool down the house.
-
Gratuitous Post #101!
-
Gee! Golly! Page 4.
-
I really don’t understand this.
-
Nothing in the last hour and a half.
-
I am too tired for this.
-
Regarding WICKED IN CONCERT
I thought the pledge breaks were the best part of the broadcast.
-
I gave up half way through.
-
I am not sure if I deleted it or not.
-
If I didn’t delete it, I will correct my error.
-
Today was kind of chilly.
-
I think it was in the low sixties.
-
Tomorrow will be the same.
-
Starting Wednesday, we should go back into the seventies.
-
I have nothing planned, so I really don’t care.
-
I will probably mop the kitchen and bathroom floors.
-
Now doesn’t that sound exciting!
-
I believe my friends Sharry and Micheal are coming over on Saturday.
-
My niece has Co-vid.
-
She tested positive on Saturday.
-
Page five!
-
Good night.
-
I believe my friends Sharry and Micheal are coming over on Saturday.
Hope you have a good time, Tom! Please tell them that I said HI!
-
My niece has Co-vid.
Oh, no! :(
-
~~~Quick Recovery Vibes for Tom's Niece!!~~~
-
Well, hopefully tomorrow, I'll be able to cut the inserts for the DVDs/Blu-rays of Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age and send them out to those who've asked for them!
-
I should have everyone's addresses.
-
Thanks for sending me your new address, Singdaw.
-
Hello?
-
HELLO?
-
I haven't heard much good about the Wicked thing. I thought the choice of director was absolutely odd.
-
These low posting days are noxious.
-
Everyone must be getting ready for a new month.
-
Most unseemly.
-
George has left us in the lurch.
-
What is the lurch exactly?
-
And why were we left there?
-
Certainly this page is lurching to a sad finish.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
It's just li'l ol' me.
-
Sad to be all alone in the world.
-
I thought Lurch was a member of the Addams family. ::)
;)
-
Well, what can one do?
-
Ah, the prodigal George returns.
-
I wonder if my friend Margo will want to go to the movies tomorrow night.
-
We were supposed to go yesterday, but she cancelled.
