Well, you've read the notes, the real notes stood up, and now it is time for you to post until the standing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IRIDESCENT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Very bad night of sleep, but Annabelle and Thatch were very patient with my restlessness and stayed with me until the alarm rang.
-
This morning I see my urologist for my second hormone treatment, and we will have a discussion on how soon these radiation treatments can begin. I honestly thought we'd be halfway through them by now. On my way to my appointment I will strop at the 68th Street post office, mail some Netflix discs and a payment and ship a carton of things to Miami University Library.
-
DR Jrand71, I should have known that was Frances Farmer! I keep forgetting what an authority you are about her because you mention Miss Alison Hayes much more often.

Good morning, friends.

DR John G., Pamela Myers's "accomplices" are the four women of the "Vocal Minority," a group of 4 singers written into the orchestrations to sing from the pit. Tunick used the same device in the earlier Promises, Promises.

And the one dressed in the purple sweater-mini dress is my goddaughter's mother, Dona D. Vaughn.

And, yes, a lot of what Jonathan learned working with Bacharach shows up in Company.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks, Singdaw.
-
In reading the credits at the end of Original Cast Album: Company, I learned Mary Rodgers was assistant to the creators. Wonder what that entailed.
-
Two of the first shows I played here when I began getting involved with theater in the mid-1990s were Company and Promises, and I loved those scores with the pit singers. Not that we had enough decent singers, but the important spots were represented. I had recently seen Promises for my first time at Goodspeed, and that lit the fire.
-
I saw the HBO Mildred Pierce when it first aired, and bought the Blu-ray set as soon as it was issued. But I didn't dig into it, it's been sitting on the shelf waiting for a rainy day ever since. I think it's about time we had some rain, don't you?
I might even read the book again before I watch it. Actually, I'm thinking that was my motivation for reading it the first time -- the making of the miniseries had just been announced, and I wanted to have finally read the book when it aired. Right decision, which paid off handsomely.

Sleeves through history:
-
TOD, in no particular order--
THE STAND
LONESOME DOVE
JOHN ADAMS
MILDRED PIERCE
CHERNOBYL
THE TERROR
FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON
THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS
HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
I remember having THE WINDS OF WAR, WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, and SHOGUN (and maybe THORN BIRDS) on when they aired, and not paying too close attention to them -- in fact, I might not even have stuck with them all the way through -- but I would appreciate seeing them now.

Vibes for a good productive hormonal appointment, DR Elmore!

Monday morning greetings!
Porch work has begun!
-
Well, four hours of sleep and there's a damn big concrete machine churning away outside with men trying to talk over that awful sound, thanks to Grant redoing the driveway next door - he's been very bad during this, not keeping anyone informed of anything and that's a big problem today because the big machine is blocking MY driveway and there'll be no going anywhere until it's gone, which is truly irritating.
-
And more electrical work is being done here! Unannounced, of course. Generator came on, and Nathan reported the driveway being blocked. I think they're pulling the new wires through from the street to the junction box for the neighbor and me. All that work several weeks ago was just getting the conduit into the ground. It never ends.
-
Sound vibes for BK.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
VIBES for DR CHAS SMITH and DR TCB......the work is not happening on my street because it is raining a bit.
-
Porch vibes for Ginny.

I enjoyed reading the notes about MR BK & Miss Cindy Williams.

In short, vibes for us all.

Porch vibes for Ginny.
So far, so good, DR John G!
To be accurate, we’re replacing the porch with a patio and steps. Today they’re leveling the area and they’ve outlined the footprint.

I loved many of the mini-series already mentioned, especially I, Claudius, Lonesome Dove and War & Peace with a wonderful Anthony Hopkins performance.
I will add a few foreign favorites:
Scenes from a Marriage
Berlin Alexanderplatz
Heimat
Dekalog

Welcome to our world, BK! Between our projects and the city’s, we’ve had stuff like that going on for 6 weeks now.
And right now we have no running water…
-
I have two miniseries on hold at the library, Mare of Easttown and I Know this Much Is True, based on a book I loved.

I have three of those (not HEIMAT) but to date I've only ever seen SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE. Especially looking forward to being up for DEKALOG when the time is right. I bought it sight unseen.

Went down the driveway and talked with them, and they apologized for lack of warning. (Uh, thanks.) But they were almost done with the whole damn thing, and in fact, the generator just went off so I know we've got power. The trucks will be out of here in a little while.

TCB, the person in a dress you mentioned is Carl Clemons-Hopkins, a non-binary actor in Hacks.

I am home from my errands. The UN is in session, and traffic on the East Side is a mess. It took forever to hail a cab. Next injection: December 6.

DR Ginny, have him take another one. Last week a friend of Rob Berman's tested positive after having lunch with Rob. The next day he had a second test and it was negative.

Thanks for the vibes, DR Jane. After some pretty extreme GI distress overnight Friday, Richard now seems to have a really bad cold. He’s on 3 meds and I just feel kind of like when my allergies flare up.

Did he get monoclonal antibodies?
Hopefully all you have is an allergy flare up.

DR Ginny, it is a good thing the work being done is outside vs inside.

I'm up, I'm up - again. I guess I got about seven hours of sleep all told.

There’s a full moon out there wreaking havoc.

I upgraded to the new iOS 15 on my iPhone. I don’t like it so far.
I've actually been looking at new(er) phones. Mine keeps running out of internal space, and there are a couple of spots downtown (inside the Washington Center being the most prominent) where I get NO service...neither data nor wi-fi...when everyone else seems to have not trouble with their service. :P

Off to Stacey Abrams soon.
I’ll let you know later, TCB, how her singing and dancing are.
Enjoy! Can't wait to hear about it!

Thank you, DR George!

We have a full house of 1,600. They’re calling it a sell out. And it’s already getting a little crazy.

I haven’t heard anything about the annual production of The Nutcracker.

I wonder if it’s happening here this year.

Let’s move on

I'm so sorry for your sad news, JRand. Hugs.

Ginny, I hope it doesn't get any worse for either of you.

How do you like them apples?

How do you like them apples?
Funny, but, to me, Opals are so sweet I can't eat them. Yet Galas and Fujis have a nice tart level that I like.

Stacey Abrams was quite marvelous. Great pianist accompanied her. When she sang "Epiphany" from Sweeney Todd, you could feel the goosebumps rise on your skin.
-
Just kidding.
-
She was quite wonderful. There was a local TV anchor who asked her questions, so it wasn't scripted. though I'm sure she's answered some of the questions quite often before.

The house was packed and they were ready to applaud, whether she talked about the restrictive new voting laws in Texas or shared stories of her work in the Georgia legislature.

Did she talk at all about the supreme court deciding to take up the very restrictive abortion law from Mississippi?

But there was a bit of tension earlier in the evening. Two women ushers were talking with our service rep about covid. And the topic got on to ivermectin. Another woman barged in to the conversation to preach how this is the answer to covid and that it was the only treatment that worked. Voices raised, claws were bared and then all of a sudden it stopped.
I was on my phone. I didn't say a word.

Good night, all.

Been working for hours now - first on some prep work for the two new releases, and then on proofing all the Carol Christmas stuff so we can get everything to the licensing company.
-
Needed a treat, so it was K's Donuts. Earlier, I had the rest of the rigatoni pasta with the rest of the ground hamburger, onions, butter, and cheese - very good. Now, listening to music.
