Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Henryk/Henry Wars/Vars, and now it is time for you to post until the star cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COZEN!
-
Topic of the Day: choir. ::)
;)

Good morning, all!
-
My computer is wonky this morning, and I am not happy about that.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
~~~STRONG VIBES AND XYLOPHONES~~~ for bk for things to become less tense!!!!
-
I slept okay. It was another chilly night, but I refuse to drag out the winter bedding because in another week the temperatures could be back in the 80s, as it was last year.
-
:)
DR elmore3003 - did you ever find a way to get into your cedar chest?
-
At 9:00 I will call my pharmacy. If the prescriptions are in stock, I will step out and pick them up.
-
I've given up on Love in a Cold Climate; I'm just not getting into it.
-
DR elmore3003 - did you ever find a way to get into your cedar chest?
Yes. I got a screw driver and broke the lock.
I couldn’t watch it either. I plan to read the book soon.
-
I want to be lazy today, but I can’t.
It still makes me shake my head in awe that someone actually wrote a score for The Unearthly.
-
No more wonk vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
It looks like we are going to have a LOT of rain today. We shall see.
Good morning, all.
California lad, DR Jrand71?
-
I'm up, I'm up - no hours of sleep and I am wrecked beyond belief. Terrible heartburn all night, out of Pepcid, and I've just about had it, frankly.
-
Gas price at Costco and BJ's this week: $2.98
-
Oops, sorry. That's sure to aggravate the heartburn.
-
Heartburn Be Gone Vibes, posthaste!
-
No heartburn vibes for MR BK!
-
No DR CHAS SMITH - just a Rocky Jones fan.
-
Wow -- to all of y'all who learned some Latin in high school.
I don't remember it even being offered, and I'm a little sorry to say I've never studied it.
-
Heartburn Be Gone Vibes, posthaste!
Ditto!
-
So this DIANA on Netflix.....is it a Broadway show that is now running or.....not running....I've seen a couple of internet clips that were very scary.
-
I am home from tyhe pharmacy. I had a wonderful taxi driver ejp waited while I picked up my prescriptions and then drove me back.
-
The cats are feeling frisky this morning. Very rambunctious.
-
So this DIANA on Netflix.....is it a Broadway show that is now running or.....not running....I've seen a couple of internet clips that were very scary.
It was coming in to Broadway from (I rhink) La Jolla before the shut down in 2020. Previews are supposedly beginning on Nov. 2.
-
Wow -- to all of y'all who learned some Latin in high school.
I don't remember it even being offered, and I'm a little sorry to say I've never studied it.
It was only offered for one year, which I took in ninth grade. I wish there had been more.
-
Finishing up Nightmare Alley. Very entertaining.
-
Flu shot scheduled for next weekend.
-
I took a half year of Latin in High School and loved it. I found the structure and grammar fascinating.
-
My college B.A. degree is in Latin. I lacked three hours in Greek to be a Classics major.
-
I really hated Greek!
-
I never knew that, DR elmore3003!
-
It is a gray day here, but no rain. Yet.
-
I am listening to Debussy's Rodrigue et Chimène and it is, indeed, lush. Thanks for the recommendation, bk.
-
Went and got some Pepcid, came home and took one and it's somewhat better now.
-
Of course, the car is spazzing out and not beeping when I lock it, which means something is still running. I disconnected the one remaining working interior light. It finally beeped properly when I got back from the Pepcid run. I do have the charger in the car just in case.
-
Hope your day improves as it goes along, bk.
-
TOD 2:
High school: Latin, French, Spanish, German
Impressive. Are you fluent in all of these?
-
For DR singdaw!
Only a year :o
My brother took Latin in high school and found it very helpful when he went to medical school.
-
With your reflex issues getting worse have you ever considered taking something before you eat?
-
We will be attending an online memorial service this afternoon.
-
I hope we won't be on camera.
-
Good morning.
TOD: Shorthand. The only thing I have ever excelled at. And I never used it in real life.
-
TOD 2:
High school: Latin, French, Spanish, German
Impressive. Are you fluent in all of these?
Used to be fluent in Spanish. Lived in Barcelona one summer.
My German improves when I drink.
My French is not great anymore.
Problem is I never use any of them.
-
Watching Black Widow. I had sworn off Marvel movies, but this one is fun.
-
That is mostly thanks to Florence McPugh.
-
Three!
-
Back from breakfast - bacon and cheese omelet and home fries - then a trip to the used CD store - got some operas, quite a few, actually, for the credit balance plus two full cards (they stamp a card for each purchase) so that was sixteen bucks off, as well - so, I put out about eight bucks cash.
-
Then to Gelson's - got bagels, cream cheese, and was going to get Boboli pizza crust - now, they always have tons of them - so, I write about it in the notes and suddenly they're completely sold out. Coincidence, I don't think so, but we'll do a little test in tomorrow's notes.
-
I am completely wrecked, however, and can barely walk straight and my brain is not currently functioning AND it's broiling hot out, which is really irritating. Hey, weather, summer's over, you know.
-
Major health vibes for DR Ginny and Richard!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You wouldn’t know that here.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Glad your car worked, at least, bk.
-
For DR singdaw!
-
The rains have arrived.
-
And I am up from a nap.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
One contemporary classical composer whose work is almost always pleasing: Aaron Jay Kernis.
-
The cats and i had a great time playing with Da Bird after their treat. They wear me out.
-
Someone on Facebook's "On the 20th Century" fan page posted audio of Betty Comden as Letiticia Primrose. Judy Kaye and John Cullum were starring.
Listening to the show once more.
-
Slept for about thirty minutes - not enough. I have to be very careful or I'll get sick and I have no time for that.
-
Listening to Cosi Fan Tutte - in English, Eleanor Steber and Richard Tucker on Masterworks Heritage - I love this series from Sony - there were all early records - these have the original covers and labels. Of course, it's Mozart so I don't love it or anything, but I'm happy to hear it and English makes it easy to follow the story. I also got Madame Butterfly on Masterworks Heritage - with Eleanor Steber and Richard Tucker again.
-
I gotta tell you...
-
Feeling very queasy, all due to no sleep.
-
My equilibrium is off.
That's cool. Side note (D-natural to D#)...my dad grew up in Torrance.
-
Just had to share. :)
Congrats!
TOD: Shorthand. The only thing I have ever excelled at. And I never used it in real life.
Interesting as it could have gotten you an excellent job, at least I think it could have.
LOL about the German.
Feel better vibes!
I am rather tired from the memorial service. We weren't emotionally invested as we never met him. It is his sister, and sister in-law, we know. Both are childhood friends of Keith.
We think it was a nice service. It never connected to the Zoom link & the sound was terrible. We watched on their daughter's Facebook page through a live cell phone video.
-
I just read an article about a new treatment for amblyopia (lazy eye) that involves watching tv.
I am extremely lucky my parents found a doctor who included tv watching as part of my special exercises 60 years ago. I am sure modern technology is better today than it was back then. What surprises me is the "modern", at the time, program I did with the doctor way back then does not seem to be mainstream treatment today.
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
Not only am I grateful to have had the doctor, but am so thankful to my mother the drill Sargent who did my exercises with me every day, for years and years, and years.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
Hi George.
-
Heartburn is completely gone, so that's good.
-
Finishing up Cosi Fan Tutte - not really my thing musically, but it's a lot of fun and beautifully performed in fantastic monophonic sound. I really love Eleanor Steber and looking forward to Madame Butterfly next with her.
-
I'll watch something once this finishes. I got a Balanchine DVD at the used store, so that should be fun.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Good evening.
-
This afternoon we saw the tour of Hamilton. I can see why the young people like it.
-
I couldn't understand very much of what was going on, but I got the gist of it. The acoustics at this theater are notoriously bad.
-
They have revised the security protocol this year. One can only take in a ziplock bag, and one must hold up their arms like you are being robbed while walking through the metal detector.
-
I don't believe there has ever been a security problem there, but, well, I guess this is the world we live in.
-
I don't believe there has ever been a security problem there, but, well, I guess this is the world we live in.
Sadly, that's true.
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait. I've been attempting to watch stuff but snooze off repeatedly, so I'll re-watch the Balanchine ballets tomorrow. I've probably half-slept for about ninety minutes overall during the course of the so-called evening.
-
Now listening to Madame Butterfly with Eleanor Steber and Richard Tucker in glorious monophonic and boy is it a no-nonsense performance and superb.
-
TOD: English and Drama
In from a night of dance practice. The place where we used to for social dances has a busted AC. The landlord isn’t getting it fixed.
-
Starting a Neil Jordan film called The Butcher Boy with Elmore’s personal friend Stephen Rea as an Irish alcoholic.
-
I loved the opening, which was a jazz instrumental of Mack the Knife. Elliott Goldenthal did the score
-
Gratuitous Post #111!
-
Finishing up Madame Butterfly and then it's on to some composer and opera I've never heard of - El Gato Montes by Manuel Penella.
-
Had a surprise drop-in visit - Grant and Lydia Geissman and my old pal Gary Stockdale and his wife. Grant wanted them to see the house, so that was fun.
-
Nice.
-
Today, I was at my sister's and we moved things around in her garage, including the extra refrigerator that she has out there.
-
Fortunately, it all wasn't too difficult.
-
Then, we made nachos for our afternoon snack.
-
We moved a few more things after the nachos, so I was still hungry when I left.
-
So, I went to Panda Express and had their new Crispy Almond Chicken Breast (https://www.pandaexpress.com/menu/entrees/crispy-almond-chicken-breast) and one of my faves, Kung Pao Chicken (https://www.pandaexpress.com/menu/entrees/kung-pao-chicken).
-
I used to get the Kung Pao Chicken and Black Pepper Chicken in my 2-entree plate.
-
But after the local Panda Express opened back up after the pandemic, they had a limited menu, and the Black Pepper Chicken wasn't on it. :(
-
They've since expanded their menu a bit...the Crispy Almond Chicken Breast being one of the new ones...but they haven't brought back the Black Pepper Chicken, yet.
-
I gotta tell you...
-
Madame Butterfly has come to its sad conclusion. And now it's on to Manon Lescaut, a newer recording with someone called Anna Netrebko, who apparently is very popular with the populace. I have a recording that I like but I thought I'd give this one a shot.
-
Tomorrow, the only thing I plan to do is type out my notes from work.
-
I have a whole bunch of little Post-Its and note pads, and nothing's really organized. ::)
-
I know I don't have everything that I need to know, but once it's all at least typed out, I can talk to my co-worker who knows what to do and she can fill in the blanks...which I desperately need!
-
It won't be difficult, just kind of time consuming.
-
I never seem to have enough time to do this at work, so I brought it home.
-
And something that I'm doing right now is moving all the files that I had stored on my old phone's microSD card onto my computer so that I can put it into my new phone.
-
I want to save all the files first because I think I'd read that when you insert an external card into the phone, it automatically reformats it to the phone's standard.
-
Whew! I just rolled in the door.
-
That's fine, but I want to make sure that all my files have been saved first.
-
Then, once it's in the phone, or at least reformatted if necessary, I can add back anything that I want to have on my new phone.
-
Tonight, Tracy and I went to see BROADWAY BOUND.
-
I didn’t realize it was quite this late.
-
Tonight, Tracy and I went to see BROADWAY BOUND.
Cool! Where did you see it?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
A little bit heavier than the first two parts of the trilogy.
-
The show was at Lakewood Playhouse.
-
I think it will have to be pretty special for me to drive to Tacoma Little Theatre.
-
I assume they have a new artistic director.
They have two interim artistic directors.
They have two interim artistic directors.
I'm sure I don't know who either of them are.
-
Hopefully, they have a good season and get the audiences.
And now...
...since we're so close...
